Snoop Doog’s Granddaughter Helping Him Brush Up on French Before His Summer Olympics Gig Is Pure Gold

When Snoop Dogg was announced as part of the NBC broadcast team covering this summer’s Olympic games in Paris you might be forgiven for saying “tu quoi?” But in proof that you can teach an old Dogg new tricks, the Doggfather posted an adorable video on Monday in which his granddaughter Cordoba — daughter of Snoop’s son, Cordell — helped him brush up on his French in a promo video that is cuter than all those kids dropping endless f-bombs in The Underdoggs.

“What’s going on, everybody? It’s big Snoop Dogg, coming at you live and direct,” Snoop says in the clip in which he’s dressed in a pink jacket embroidered with the phrase “Daddy’s Lil Girl” and a colorful flower head scarf. “As you know, I’m doing the Olympics this year live from Paris, so I wanted to get some lessons in French. So I went out and hired me a French teacher to teach me some words. Say hello to my French teacher, Cordoba.”

Trending on Billboard

As the camera pans out to reveal the all-pink room and a colorful tea party set-up on the table in front of him we get our first glimpse of his adorable tutor, rocking a matching pink jacket and the biggest smile you can imagine. As a fancy baroque piano soundtrack bubbles up, Snoop straps in for his lesson, which begins with Cordoba shuffling through her flash cards and pouring some imaginary tea.

“The word is ‘ice cream,’” Snoop says in teeing up the obviously most important phrase he’s going to need to know for his steamy sojourn in the French capital this summer. “I think how you say it is ‘cream le ice?’,” the Long Beach native suggests. Wrong. “‘Glace,’” Cordoba corrects him.

“How do I say ‘Eiffel Tower?’” wonders Snoop, who previously reported for NBC during the Tokyo Olympics four years ago. Cordoba shoots a perfectly quizzical look at the camera and flashes the correct card, which Snoop reads back as “Tour Eiffel.” Growing weary pretty quickly — or maybe just suffering from the munchies — Snoop gripes, “I thought we was gonna be eating ice cream and cake and stuff,” as he cues up the correct way to say “goodbye.”

After a few snacks Snoop bids au revior, saying, “there you have it, I got me some French lessons, learned a couple of words, little bit of etiquette, how to pour some tea and how to eat some candy. Be sure to check me out at the Olympics 2024.”

Snoop will be part of NBCUniversal’s coverage of the Summer Olympics in Paris this summer during the Olympic primetime show beginning July 26 on NBC and Peacock; the games will last through August 11. In addition to offering his unique takes alongside veteran NBC Olympics host Mike Tirico, Snoop will also explore the City of Light’s most iconic landmarks, attend some events and visit with athletes, according to NBC.

Senate Passes Bill That Forces TikTok Owner to Sell App or Face Ban in U.S.

The Senate passed legislation Tuesday night that would force TikTok’s China-based parent company to sell the social media platform under the threat of a ban, a contentious move by U.S. lawmakers that’s expected to face legal challenges and disrupt the lives of content creators who rely on the short-form video app for income.

The TikTok legislation was included as part of a larger $95 billion package that provides foreign aid to Ukraine and Israel and was passed 79-18. It now goes to President Joe Biden, who said in a statement immediately after passage that he will sign it Wednesday.

A decision made by House Republicans last week to attach the TikTok bill to the high-priority package helped expedite its passage in Congress and came after negotiations with the Senate, where an earlier version of the bill had stalled. That version had given TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, six months to divest its stakes in the platform. But it drew skepticism from some key lawmakers concerned it was too short of a window for a complex deal that could be worth tens of billions of dollars.

Trending on Billboard

The revised legislation extends the deadline, giving ByteDance nine months to sell TikTok, and a possible three-month extension if a sale is in progress. The bill would also bar the company from controlling TikTok’s secret sauce: the algorithm that feeds users videos based on their interests and has made the platform a trendsetting phenomenon.

TikTok did not immediately return a request for comment Tuesday night.

The passage of the legislation is a culmination of long-held bipartisan fears in Washington over Chinese threats and the ownership of TikTok, which is used by 170 million Americans. For years, lawmakers and administration officials have expressed concerns that Chinese authorities could force ByteDance to hand over U.S. user data, or influence Americans by suppressing or promoting certain content on TikTok.

“Congress is not acting to punish ByteDance, TikTok or any other individual company,” Senate Commerce Committee Chairwoman Maria Cantwell said. “Congress is acting to prevent foreign adversaries from conducting espionage, surveillance, maligned operations, harming vulnerable Americans, our servicemen and women, and our U.S. government personnel.”

Opponents of the bill say the Chinese government could easily get information on Americans in other ways, including through commercial data brokers that traffic in personal information. The foreign aid package includes a provision that makes it illegal for data brokers to sell or rent “personally identifiable sensitive data” to North Korea, China, Russia, Iran or entities in those countries. But it has encountered some pushback, including from the American Civil Liberties Union, which says the language is written too broadly and could sweep in journalists and others who publish personal information.

Many opponents of the TikTok measure argue the best way to protect U.S. consumers is through implementing a comprehensive federal data privacy law that targets all companies regardless of their origin. They also note the U.S. has not provided public evidence that shows TikTok sharing U.S. user information with Chinese authorities, or that Chinese officials have ever tinkered with its algorithm.

“Banning TikTok would be an extraordinary step that requires extraordinary justification,” said Becca Branum, a deputy director at the Washington-based Center for Democracy & Technology, which advocates for digital rights. “Extending the divestiture deadline neither justifies the urgency of the threat to the public nor addresses the legislation’s fundamental constitutional flaws.”

Sen. Ron Wyden, a Democrat who voted for the legislation, said he has concerns about TikTok, but he’s also worried the bill could have negative effects on free speech, doesn’t do enough to protect consumer privacy and could potentially be abused by a future administration to violate First Amendment rights.

“I plan to watchdog how this legislation is implemented,” Wyden said in a statement.

China has previously said it would oppose a forced sale of TikTok, and has signaled its opposition this time around. TikTok, which has long denied it’s a security threat, is also preparing a lawsuit to block the legislation.

“At the stage that the bill is signed, we will move to the courts for a legal challenge,” Michael Beckerman, TikTok’s head of public policy for the Americas, wrote in a memo sent to employees on Saturday and obtained by The Associated Press.

“This is the beginning, not the end of this long process,” Beckerman wrote.

The company has seen some success with court challenges in the past, but it has never sought to prevent federal legislation from going into effect.

In November, a federal judge blocked a Montana law that would ban TikTok use across the state after the company and five content creators who use the platform sued. Three years before that, federal courts blocked an executive order issued by then-President Donald Trump to ban TikTok after the company sued on the grounds that the order violated free speech and due process rights.

The Trump administration then brokered a deal that had U.S. corporations Oracle and Walmart take a large stake in TikTok. But the sale never went through.

Trump, who is running for president again this year, now says he opposes the potential ban.

Since then, TikTok has been in negotiations about its future with the secretive Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, a little-known government agency tasked with investigating corporate deals for national security concerns.

On Sunday, Erich Andersen, a top attorney for ByteDance who led talks with the U.S. government for years, told his team that he was stepping down from his role.

“As I started to reflect some months ago on the stresses of the last few years and the new generation of challenges that lie ahead, I decided that the time was right to pass the baton to a new leader,” Andersen wrote in an internal memo that was obtained by the AP. He said the decision to step down was entirely his and was decided months ago in a discussion with the company’s senior leaders.

Meanwhile, TikTok content creators who rely on the app have been trying to make their voices heard. Earlier Tuesday, some creators congregated in front the Capitol building to speak out against the bill and carry signs that read “I’m 1 of the 170 million Americans on TikTok,” among other things.

Tiffany Cianci, a content creator who has more than 140,000 followers on the platform and had encouraged people to show up, said she spent Monday night picking up creators from airports in the D.C. area. Some came from as far as Nevada and California. Others drove overnight from South Carolina or took a bus from upstate New York.

Cianci says she believes TikTok is the safest platform for users right now because of Project Texas, TikTok’s $1.5 billion mitigation plan to store U.S. user data on servers owned and maintained by the tech giant Oracle.

“If our data is not safe on TikTok,” she said. “I would ask why the president is on TikTok.”

The Weeknd’s Postponed Stadium Tour of Australia Is Cancelled

The Weeknd’s postponed tour of Australia is now canceled and ticket owners will be refunded.

The Canadian R&B superstar had initially scheduled an 11-date stadium tour of Australia and New Zealand, winding its way across both countries last November and December.

Then, two weeks before the After Hours Til Dawn Tour was due to kick off, the trek was shelved “due to unforeseen circumstances.”

A statement issued at the time confirmed that new dates would be announced for 2024 and current tickets will be valid for those new shows.

That’s no longer the case. Though replacement dates were never announced, a statement confirms the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled, while Live Nation, which was producing the tour, continues to investigate a rescheduled trek.

Trending on Billboard

“The Weeknd ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in process of being rescheduled,” reads a statement from LN, seen by Billboard. “Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled with all ticket holders receiving a full refund accordingly.”

Ticket holders of the The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ shows who previously held on to their tickets will be able to access a priority purchase window for the new tour in Australia and New Zealand when announced, the message reads, linking to a priority waitlist. All current ticket holders will receive an automatic refund.

The tour was originally announced last August with just four shows, visiting each of Australia’s big three east coast cities — Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane — and including a single date in Auckland, NZ.

Additional dates were added last September, boosting the itinerary to 11 across both markets.

The Weeknd’s tour is scrapped as Australia’s festivals market navigates turbulent waters. In recent weeks, the 2024 editions of Splendour in the Grass, Mona Foma, and Groovin The Moo, with soft ticket sales playing a part in each story.

The inaugural Soundcheck report, published by Creative Australia, found the climate for operating a festival was a “highly complex” one, with event organizers challenged with myriad issues, from rapidly increasing costs, changing ticket buying behavior and more.

Despite the situation Down Under, The Weeknd continues to pump out the hits. In recent days, Abel Tesfaye became just the 18th artist to chart at least 100 career hits on the Hot 100, thanks to a pair of guest appearances on Future and Metro Boomin’s new Billboard 200 No. 1 album We Still Don’t Trust You: the set’s title track, which debuts at No. 22, and “All to Myself,” which starts at No. 67.

In the U.S., he has landed seven No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 and four No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.

On Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart, published last Friday, April 19, the Weeknd’s hits collection The Highlights lifts 8-4 in its 167th week on the tally. It’s triple-platinum certified in Australia.

Kellie Pickler Returns to the Stage for First Time Since Husband’s Death: ‘I Know He Is Here’

For the first time since the death of her husband last year, Kellie Pickler returned to the stage Monday night to perform at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium for a tribute concert to Patsy Cline.

“I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was not incredibly nervous right now,” Pickler said when she hit the stage. “It’s the first time I’ve been up on stage in a while.”

Kyle Jacobs, a songwriter/producer and Pickler’s husband of 12 years, died by suicide in February 2023. He was 49 years old.

Trending on Billboard

On Monday night, according to a TikTok video posted by Music Mayhem magazine, Pickler performed her song “The Woman I Am,” from her 2013 album of the same name, which she co-wrote with Jacobs.

“My husband and I actually wrote this song together, gosh, over a decade ago,” Pickler said onstage. “The last time I was here in the Ryman Auditorium was with him on a date night, and I know he is here with us tonight.”

Watch Pickler’s return to the stage below:

Jacobs’ songwriting credits included Garth Brooks’ Hot Country Songs chart-topper “More Than a Memory,” as well as songs recorded by Trace Adkins, Clay Walker and more. Jacobs also produced several Lee Brice hits, including “I Drive Your Truck,” “Hard to Love,” “Rumor” and “Drinking Class,” and was a producer on Brice’s 2020 album Hey World.

Jacobs and Pickler got married in January 2011 and previously starred together on the reality show I Love Kellie Pickler. Pickler competed on American Idol in 2006 and finished in sixth place, later earning a Country Airplay top 10 hit with “Best Days of Your Life.”

Pickler broke her silence following Jacobs’ death in a statement to People magazine last August, writing: “One of the most beautiful lessons my husband taught me was in a moment of a crisis, if you don’t know what to do, ‘Do nothing, just be still.’ I have chosen to heed his advice.”

It’s Fuerza Regida’s Turn: ‘Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada’ Hits No. 1 on Top Latin Albums

Fuerza Regida celebrates its first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums, as its seventh studio release Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada, climbs 2-1 to lead the April 27-dated ranking.

Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada ascends to No. 1 with 24,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending April 18 (up 17%), according to Luminate, almost entirely driven by streaming activity (up 17% in streaming equivalent album units, equaling 36.06 million on-demand official streams for the set’s songs during the tracking week).

Top Latin Albums ranks the most popular Latin albums of the week by multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each units equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.

Trending on Billboard

The 30-track set, released via Oct. 20 via Street Mob/Rancho Humilde/Sony Music Latin, visits the penthouse for the first time on Top Latin Albums in its 26th week. That is the longest climb to No. 1 since the Oct. 10, 2015-dated chart, when Juan Gabriel’s Mis Numero 1… 40 Aniversario rose 4-1 in its 60th week. Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada debuted at No. 2 on the Nov. 4, 2023, chart and has never departed the top five.

Notably, Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada becomes only the fifth regional Mexican album to lead Top Latin Albums this decade; all one-week rulers except for Peso Pluma’s Génesis, which has dominated for 28 non-consecutive weeks. Let’s look at those No. 1 albums since 2020:

Artist, Title, Peak Date, Weeks at No. 1
Alejandro Fernández, Hecho En México, Feb. 2020, one
Eslabon Armado, Vibras de Noche, Aug. 1, 2020, one
Eslabon Armado, Desvelado, May 13, 2023, one
Peso Pluma, Génesis, July 8, 2023, 28
Fuerza Regida, Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada, April 27

Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada also rebounds to No. 1 for its second week atop Regional Mexican Albums, where it launched at the summit last November.

Fuerza Regida’s new Top Latin Albums coronation arrives a week after the group announced its 37-date U.S. and Mexico summer arena tour, Pero No Te Enamores, will kick off June 6 in Austin, Texas.

The news perhaps ignited similar gains for two other Fuerza Regida efforts on Top Latin Albums: streaming activity drives Dolido Pero No Arrepentido (EP) to its No. 5 peak with an 18% gain, to 13,000 units (essentially all from SEA units), a figure that equates to 19.35 million on-demand official streams registered for its songs during the same period. Pa Que Hablen.: I., meanwhile, jumps 22-20 — after its No. 3 peak in April 2023 — likewise through streaming movement. The album generated 5,000 units (effectively all from streams), up 9%, which equals to 8.4 million streams in the U.S.

Beyond this weekly slate of Fuerza Regida’s albums gains, the San Bernardino, Calif. group, also expands on a song level. Eight entries on the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs chart, which combines airplay, streams, and downloads, move ahead boosted by streaming growth, starting with “Tu Name” which rises 4-3, led by with 8.8 million on-demand official streams, up 14%.

“Crazyz,” meanwhile, logs the biggest streaming percentage gain out of the eight, with a 44% growth, to 4.5 million.

Katy Perry Shows Off All Her Roles While Lip Syncing to Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Espresso’

Katy Perry is working late… with all her roles!

The superstar took to Instagram to share a sweet video lip syncing along to Sabrina Carpenter’s summery new single, “Espresso,” while she changes from a casual outfit on the set of American Idol into a stunning purple leather dress ready for the taping. “I’m a singerrrr (and a mother, and a judge, and a…),” she captioned the post in reference to the track’s viral lyrics: “I’m working late ’cause I’m a singer / Oh, he looks so cute wrapped ’round my finger.”

Carpenter released “Espresso” right before she took the stage at Coachella earlier this month. The track launched to No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart dated April 27, 2024.

“Weirdly enough, ended up writing this song in France, and I think that that probably had a little bit of inspiration to how the song ended up feeling,” the pop star told Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe of the track. “It just had that excitement and that energy of almost kind of traveling the world. We wrote it in France and I remember it being a very, very quick process. I mean, from start to finish I think that’s why you can kind of feel how fun it is. And I think for me, there was something really exciting about the fact that there was so much personality throughout the entire song, because those are the ones that are really, really fun to sing live with a crowd. Those are the ones that people, I think when they don’t know my music or who I am or anything, they can just tune in to a single song and kind of leave with a better idea of my sense of humor.”

All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. However, Billboard may receive a commission on orders placed through its retail links, and the retailer may receive certain auditable data for accounting purposes.

The weather is getting warmer, and some of us can’t help but show off a little skin. If you fall in that category and plan to go strapless, backless or sheer for spring and summer, you’ll need some extra coverage.

Sticky bras and reusable nipple covers provide added coverage (usually more than most pasties) for busts of all sizes, plus they’re easy to pop on and off, whereas strapless bras can be complicated to maneuver and tend to slide down.

Trending on Billboard

Personally, I prefer nipple covers over sticky bras, but in the interest of providing you with a variety of options, we’ve rounded up a handful off bestselling, reusable stick-on bras and nipple covers available at Amazon, Walmart and other retailers.

See more below.

Amazon

Nippies Nipple Cover – Sticky Adhesive Silicone Nipple Pasties

Topping the list are Nippies Nipple Covers. These bestselling, reusable nipple covers are No. 1 at Amazon with over 30,000 customer ratings and a 4.5 out of stars. The nipple covers provide all-day coverage with super-hold adhesive. They’re available in sizes small (for A-C cups) and large (for D+ cups) in five different shades including caramel, coco, crème, espresso and hazelnut.

“Life-changing nip wizardry,” one excited shopper wrote on Amazon. “These magical circles of wonder have transformed my wardrobe game and saved me from countless wardrobe malfunctions. Move over, regular bras – sticky nipple covers are here to steal the show!”

Another shopper added, “The first thing I do when I get home and settle in for the evening is take off my shoes and my bra. Bras are torture devices. And I’m not even large breasted! But I don’t want to be all nipply so these are the perfect solution. They offer no support, they just hide the headlight effect. They are washable, reusable, lightweight and are invisible under clothes. Just the right amount of stickiness to adhere to skin. I think they’re great.”

Revolve

Perkies Petals Nipple Covers

Perkies Petals has been a favorite of mine for more than a year now. I’ve tested them out in all cold, cool and extremely hot climates and at different times of year (summer through spring) and they always hold up.

“A must have! Wore these with a sheer-ish formal dress and they were absolutely perfect,” wrote one satisfied shopper. “I felt confident and covered all night. I will 100% be bringing them with me on every trip.. clean, supportive, and comes with a travel case! As essential as sunscreen!”

The reusable, silicone nipple covers are available in light, medium and dark nude and can be worn for up to 8 hours at a time (they’ll even stay put in sweltering heat). Perkies donates five percent of its sales to Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Amazon

Wingslove Adhesive Bra Reusable Strapless Self Silicone Push-up Invisible Sticky Bras for Backless Dress (Beige,A)

Wingslove is another brand that we’ve tested, and a top-seller at Amazon. This is a decent choice if you’re looking for a budget adhesive bra, but it’s not going to last you in the long run. On the plus side, Wingslove bras are easy to take off and they’re available in 10 shades including beige, black, brown, coco, coffee, nude and pink/orange.

The Alki’I Adhesive Push Up Bra is another Amazon find under $20. It’s available in sizes A-F and provides nipple coverage and lift.

Oh snap Quavo and Chris Brown have been at each other’s necks on some diss tracks, but is Chris calling it quits. I’m breaking the whole thing down. It all started on a track “Freak” from Chris’s ’11:11 (Deluxe)’ where he brings up Quavo fcking his old btches. Referring to Kareuchi Tran someone they have both dated and ignited this entire feud. Quavo responded with “Tender.”

Tetris Kelly
Of course Quavo brought up Chris’s violence towards Rihanna, in which Chris then brought up Quavo’s violence towards ex Saweetie and alludes to sleeping with her on his response track “The Weakest Link” saying Quavo was the weakest member of Migos. Well it doesn’t stop there Quavo released a response yes calling Chris a crackhead Michael Jackson. But also using a verse from the late member Takeoff.
