Tha Dogg Pound & Snoop Dogg ft. Lady of Rage & RBX “Who Da Hardest?” Boozie Badazz “Summer Time” & More | Daily Visuals 6.10.24

HipHopWired Featured Video

The way Snoop Dogg has been reuniting former Death Row artists after taking control of the label that made him a star makes us feel like Tha Doggfather has been planning this for quite some time and he’s been on his grizzly dropping off new work courtesy of many OG’s.

In the new visuals to “Who Da Hardest?” Snoop Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound once again ride with the likes of Lady of Rage and RBX to kick that ol’ gangsta ish to remind everyone that while rap is a young man’s game, Hip-Hop itself will forever be for artists of all ages. Dope to see Lady of Rage’s afro puff’s still poppin.’

Speaking of OG’s, Boosie Badazz is still living like a young man at his big age and in his clip for “Summer Time,” the Baton Rouge representative enjoys some pool side fun with some extra thick women who come in all colors but have the similar physical dimensions from the waist down. Boosie do like them big girls and we ain’t hatin.’

GloRilla & Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Wanna Be’ Surges After Cardi B Remix

A new Cardi B remix adds a serious jolt to GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Wanna Be,” sending the rap collaboration rebounding up the Billboard Hot 100 and multiple other charts (dated June 15) following the first tracking week for the new version, which was released May 31.

In the May 31-June 6 tracking week, according to Luminate, “Wanna Be” generated 19.7 million official U.S. streams – its biggest streaming yet and a 51% increase from the previous week, sparking its 35-15 ascent on the Streaming Songs chart. The single sold 13,000 downloads in the same period, up 6,210%, prompting a No. 4 re-entry on the Digital Song Sales list. (It reached Nos. 9 and 1 on the respective charts upon its debut on rankings dated April 20.)

“Wanna Be” also registered 7.1 million airplay audience impressions, a 115% week-over-week improvement. Although it’s as yet below the 50-position threshold for the all-genre Radio Songs chart, the single’s gains reap rewards on format airplay charts: It darts 36-17 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart (up 113% in audience to 5.9 million) and debuts at No. 37 on Rhythmic Airplay.

Trending on Billboard

Thanks to the increases for all three metrics, “Wanna Be” rockets 39-15 on the Hot 100, which blends streaming, sales and airplay into its calculations. The collaboration nears its peak of No. 11, achieved upon the song’s debut. Additional jumps occur on both the multimetric Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, which use the same methodology as the Hot 100. “Wanna Be” rebounds 11-5 on the former to match its peak rank and 9-4 on the latter, earning a new best showing. (All versions of the song are rolled up into one listing for tracking purposes and chart ranks. Cardi B is not listed on “Wanna Be” on the June 15-dated multimetric charts, as the remix did not account for the majority of the song’s overall consumption during the tracking week, although she is listed on radio charts, as the new remix is already responsible for the bulk of its airplay; such decisions are reviewed each week upon compilation of updated data.)

Plus, streaming and sales consumption for “Wanna Be” in both its original and remixed forms helps the track’s parent album, GloRilla’s Ehhthang Ehhthang, rally on the albums charts. The set, released in April (which includes the original GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion version), drives 47-23 on the all-genre Billboard 200, with 23,000 equivalent album units earned May 31-June 6, a 35% gain from the previous week. Further, the project’s 13-4 surge on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart unlocks a new peak, while it returns to its highpoint on Top Rap Albums with an 11-3 advance.

Funkmaster Flex Goes on Rant Against ‘Million Dollar Baby’: ‘Sounds Like a Shoe Store’

Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex — who’s been a staple on New York City airwaves for decades — isn’t feeling Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby.”

In fact, the legendary DJ went on an epic rant about how much he doesn’t like the song and went as far as to call those who do like it “clowns.”

“If you’re someone that likes this song, you are a clown,” Flex said. “This song… I don’t know what the rest of his songs sound like. I don’t even know who Tommy Richman is. Sounds like a shoe store. Now we’re gonna document this hot garbage. We’re gonna play it now, I know you want to hear it. I wonder if this is big in the club.”

He then says, “See this part is deceiving like it might be a good song,” when talking over the song’s intro. Adding, “Watch the terrible part as it comes in… where you hear the tin can drums,” as the beat starts to build and Tommy Richman’s voice can be heard.

Another user posted what sounds like another rant as Flex plays the record again. This time the DJ tells his listeners that he’s going to play a record suitable for New York in order to “bring us back from the depths of Hell, from the depths of garbage” and then adds that the song “sounds like it was made on a Casio machine.” Flex also says the song makes him question why he’s a DJ and questions whether he’s “aged out” before acknowledging how big the record is.

Trending on Billboard

You can hear the listeners being both appalled and entertained by what Flex is saying in both recordings.

Check ’em out below.

This rant comes at an opportune time for the Virginia singer, since he’s making an announcement Tuesday on his Instagram Story. A few days ago, he dropped a teaser on his IG for his next single with the caption, “Devil is a lie.” So maybe this announcement has something to do with that.

Million Dollar Baby” currently sits at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has been on the charts for the last five weeks, peaking at No. 2.

Seems like a lot of clownery is going on.

Christian Nodal & Ángela Aguilar Confirm Their Relationship

Christian Nodal and Ángela Aguilar revealed Monday (June 10) that they’re dating. HOLA! Americas released the couple’s first photos together, confirming their romance began after Nodal’s separation from Cazzu.

“It is not a new relationship; it’s the continuation of a story that life made us pause so we could grow and miss each other. Because when we let go, we returned even closer,” Aguilar told HOLA!

According to sources, they reunited after Nodal ended his relationship with the Argentine trap star, with whom he recently had a baby. The Mexican superstar and Cazzu artist publicly announced their breakup on social media on May 23, stating they still have a respectful and amicable relationship.

Trending on Billboard

“The time has come to share that Julieta [Cazzu’s real name] and I are going our separate ways,” Nodal wrote, which Cazzu reposted on her own account. “Our love and respect for each other remains strong, especially in our role as parents to our wonderful daughter, Inti. I am deeply grateful for the moments we shared and will always carry those memories fondly. I appreciate your support and understanding during this time of change.”

After reposting Nodal’s message, Cazzu shared in her own words: “We artists are a screen of what happens in real life. You go through love, heartbreak, successes and mistakes with us. Today, as it was many times and as there are still many, you accompany us, some with hate and others with much love. Thank you, everything heals.”

Following the end of their respective relationships, 20-year-old Aguilar and Nodal, who is 25, began their romance, having previously established a friendship through their musical collaborations in 2020’s ranchera song “Dime Cómo Quieres.” “I couldn’t stop laughing while recording my part. When you record a duet well you have that human interaction and a lot of your facial expressions are a reaction to what the other person is doing. But here, I was singing to a green screen and a guy from our production team who pretended to be Nodal,” Aguilar told Billboard in 2020 about their collaboration.

Ángela Aguilar was honored with the Musical Dynasty award at the 2024 Billboard Latin Women in Music ceremony, which aired Sunday night (June 9), where she was also the youngest of the eight honorees.

And he also announced “Don Toliver’s Hardstone Psycho Steam” on Twitch via his Instagram page, which is happening later Monday at 5:30 p.m. ET:

Toliver recently scored a Billboard Hot 100 hit with the third single to Hardstone Psycho “Attitude” featuring Cash Cobain and Charlie Wilson. So far the song has peaked at No. 96 and is his ninth chart entry as a lead artist. The first two singles “Bandit” and “Deep in the Water” also charted, with the former earning the artist his first top 10 hit as a lead artist.

If you remember, his Cactus Jack label boss Travis Scott also had an exclusive collab with the gaming giant. In 2020, Scott had a live performance within the game as a giant avatar entitled Astronomical. The 10-minute performance set a record for Fortnite‘s largest-ever in-game gathering. The event drew 27.7 million unique players over the course of five airings in three days.

Stevie Nicks Soars Through a Night of Songs & Stories at Mohegan Sun: 5 Best Moments

At 76 years old, Stevie Nicks — who breezily brought up her age a few times on stage Sunday night (June 9) — maintains the distinct, strong vocal performance for which she’s become iconic. She carries it through a showtime of about two hours, with a 15-song set and several stories spanning her fascinating journey in rock ‘n’ roll.

Nicks brought her headlining tour to the Mohegan Sun Arena, a well-designed, 10,000-seat venue in southeastern Connecticut that’s within the Mohegan Sun casino/entertainment complex owned by the Mohegan Tribe.

She has plenty to play, and so much to say — and with the life experience she’s had as an entertainer for so many years, rightly so. On Sunday Nicks was a lively conversationalist, letting her sense of humor shine while telling the crowd about her early days with Fleetwood Mac in the 1970s, how her debut solo album hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 1981, and what’s currently on her mind in 2024.

Who wouldn’t want to hear what Stevie Nicks has to say? This January it’ll be 50 years since the 1975 lineup of Fleetwood Mac (with Nicks) came to be, a musical ride that followed humble beginnings alongside eventual Mac co-star Lindsey Buckingham with the Buckingham Nicks project, and preceded the ascent of her solo career.

Nicks’ concert at Mohegan Sun Arena featured setlist staples like “Dreams,” “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” “Stand Back,” “Leather and Lace,” “Rhiannon,” “Gypsy” and an encore of “Landslide,” a beautiful tribute to late best friend and bandmate Christine McVie. Mixed in with the chart-toppers were the singer-songwriter’s stories, almost like mini lessons on the history of Nicks’ path.

During a quick restroom break my husband overheard someone making small-talk wisecracks at the urinal: “She talks a lot, huh?” I grew up with a parent who’d listen to Fleetwood Mac albums on repeat. I could listen to her voice telling stories 100 times over and still find it soothing. We didn’t find the bathroom joke funny, but it was amusing timing.

As though she could sense what someone, somewhere, was saying, a charming Nicks was actually on stage poking fun at herself: “I’m trying, I’m making a big effort to shorten down my stories. My stories are starting to become as long as the show,” she quipped at the start of a 13-minute introduction to her performance of 1982 single “Gypsy.”

“Every time I do it, I mess up,” she said. “I take a part off, it’s impossible to understand where I’ve stopped and where I should start up again. I’m only sharing this with you because it’s part of the fun of being my age.”

“I’m so old … What’s everybody gonna say to me? ‘Stop! You can’t do this anymore!’ I’ll say, ‘OK. Fine. I’ll just go home and be alone in a rocking chair with my dog Lily,” Nicks said with a grin.

Below, see five of the best moments from Stevie Nicks’ concert at Mohegan Sun Arena. Nicks is currently on tour through June 21 in North America, then heading to Europe in July. See the full tour date list on her official website.
