Candace Owens Doesn’t ‘Respect’ Beyoncé, Says She’s ‘Used to Black Women Bowing Down to Her’

Candace Owens is giving her two cents on Beyoncé.

The conservative commentator responded on her Candace podcast to an Instagram post by Bey’s mother, Tina Knowles, refuting claims that the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer was paid to speak at Vice President Kamala Harris’ rally in Houston, Texas, last month. “Beyonce did not receive a penny for speaking at a Presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harrris’s Rally in Houston,” Knowles wrote. “In fact she actually paid for her own flights for her and her team, and total Glam. They are not only lying and disrespecting Beyonce’s name but they are trying to further discredit the power of our vice president! When does the lies and rumors stop? Of course you won’t see this in the news !!!!!”

On her podcast, Owens recalled, “I was having a totally normal weekend, went to the farmers market with the kids, the toy store, and then someone texted me and said that Beyoncé’s mommy came for me on Instagram. I said, ‘What? Excuse me? Tina Knowles? What have I done to deserve this?’ This is so wrong.”

She then began to target Bey directly. “Beyoncé hasn’t had a good album since Four… So Beyoncé and her mommy targeted me – this is my belief – because I am emblematic of something that frustrates them,” Owens explained. “It’s a changing economy in the world. What has always worked for them in the past is no longer interesting to the public. This is an economy where authenticity pays. Beyoncé does not remember what it means to be authentic anymore. She’s been playing a role of a queen for so long. She’s grown accustomed to visit the commonwealth every four years.”

Owens added, “Beyoncé is used to black women bowing down to her. There’s nothing [Beyoncé does] that I respect.”

Bey and Knowles have yet to respond to Owens’ comments. Billboard has reached out to the superstar’s reps.

Katt Williams Calls Out ‘SNL’ For Casting Female Actor To Parody Him

Katt Williams is taking umbrage with Saturday Night Live. He has called out the sketch series for casting a female to parody him and more.

As spotted on Page Six the comedian recently did an interview at the Vulture Festival in Los Angeles. While on stage the Friday After Next star spoke about his historic career and much more. To no surprise he had a very hot take when questioned about the comedy series and how they spoofed him on several episodes. “There has never been a person that has been parodied nine times on Saturday Night Live and yet never been invited other than me,” he explained. “So, I at this point, take it as a badge of honor that they don’t f**k with me.”

When asked on his thoughts about the parodies he made it clear he responded in the most Katt Williams way possible. “A lot of times when people are doing an impression of you, they’re really showing you how they feel about you. You know what I mean?” he said. “So, for Saturday Night Live to have an impression of me and have a woman do that, means they think I’m a b*tch. And I understand that that’s what they’re saying when they do that.”

He would also reflect on his viral interview on Club Shay Shay from January where he alleged that Diddy’s day of reckoning would soon come. “Even if I’m at the Diddy party, I’m there to tell. I’m there to see, Who the f*ck is in here and what do y’all get from being in here? So, nobody likes to have me around. I’m there for bad intentions.” On a recent interview of Nightcap Shannon Sharpe hinted at a second Club Shay Shay interview Katt Williams. You can see him discuss it below.

Saafir Live In Concert

Saafir, a talented rapper who was a standout lyricist in the 1990s, was an influential component of the sprawling West Coast underground scene that boosted the likes of the Hieroglyphics and more. According to one of Saafir’s close allies in music, the “Light Sleeper” rapper died on Tuesday morning after reports of him battling health issues surfaced years ago.

On Tuesday (November 19), Xzibit shared a photo of Saafir, who also went by the name of Shaft Yella, with a caption that revealed that the rapper had passed away.

From IG:

I can’t believe I’m writing this right now, but don’t know what else to do at the moment. Approximately at 8:45am this morning, my brother Reggie known to the world as Saafir passed away. We have so much history I can’t even explain what I’m feeling right now. We surrounded him and let him know how much we loved him. He can rest now.

Friends, Family, everyone that rocked with us from the Hip Hop community, if you could be so solid and reach out for @chopblack his younger brother, and @lilsaafir his son, the family really needs to be supported during this time. That’s all I have right now. My soul is crushed.

We love you Bro.

REST IN POWER

Saafir The Saucee Nomad.

Saafir, real name Reggie Gibson, burst onto the scene with his debut album, Boxcar Sessions, which was released via the late Quincy Jones’ Qwest recording label in conjunction with Reprise and Warner Bros Records. Later in life, Saafir converted to Islam and when we have his full righteous name, we will update this post.

The Saucee Nomad famously battled members of the aforementioned Hieroglyphics by himself in a classic radio battle on KMEL’s Wake Up Show with Sway Calloway and DJ King Tech that became the stuff of legend in underground circles. Gibson also worked as an actor, making his debut on film in 1993’s Menace II Society as Cousin Harold.

Along with his solo career, Gibson was a member of the Hobo Junction, a collective of rappers and producers that featured prominently on his debut album. He was also a member of the Golden State Warriors supergroup with Xzibit and Ras Kass.

On X, formerly Twitter, fans of Saafir are joined in mourning the Oakland visionary. We’ve got reactions below. We will update this post with new details and a playlist of songs.

Global Citizen has made two key appointments to their executive leadership team, the company tells Billboard. Katie Hill, senior vp of music, entertainment and artist relations, has been promoted to chief music and entertainment officer, while lfeoma Chuks-Adizue has been hired as Global Citizen’s first-ever MD in Africa.

Hill has been at the company since 2014, leading the music, entertainment and artist relations team in securing renowned acts for Global Citizen’s festivals and campaigns to support the international education and advocacy organization’s mission to end extreme poverty. She’s worked closely with Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Finneas, Coldplay, BTSJung Kook, BLACKPINK‘s LISA and many more artists, as well as their management teams, to ensure Global Citizen’s mission is clear and accessible. She also developed the company’s Ambassadors and Advocates for Change program, which has built long-term partnerships with Usher, Hugh Jackman and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Global Citizen’s executive leadership team as Chief Music and Entertainment Officer. It’s been an honor to help build such an important movement, which truly leverages the power of music and entertainment to create positive change in the world,” Hill tells Billboard in a statement. “When I reflect on the impact that has been achieved over my last 10 years at Global Citizen, I am inspired by the passion and dedication of so many incredible artists and partners across the industry that have joined us in the fight to end extreme poverty. I can’t wait to build on this collaborative impact.”

Chuks-Adizue will spearhead Global Citizen’s activities in Africa, implementing its strategy across the continent including the next installment of Move Afrika: A Global Citizen Experience. In November 23, Lamar and his company, pgLang, teamed up with Global Citizen to create Move Afrika, a first-of-its-kind touring circuit across Africa that aims at driving economic investment, creating jobs and supporting entrepreneurship opportunities in each host country. Lamar headlined Move Afrika: Rwanda in Kigali last December, with pgLang set to serve as the curator of Move Afrika until 2028. According to a press release, that event employed more than 1,000 Rwandans and engaged 75% local crew and production staff, with a specific focus on creating opportunities for skill development and international skill training. Ghana joined Rwanda as a host country for Move Afrika earlier this year.

In her new role, Chuks-Adizue will oversee key partnerships that span business development, marketing, broadcast and event production, as well as Global Citizen’s Africa-based teams and operations. Based out of Global Citizen’s office in Lagos, Nigeria, Chuks-Adizue will also work closely with the company’s executive leadership in New York, playing an instrumental role in building relationships with private sector partners and within the philanthropic community.

“I’m honored to be joining the Global Citizen team in this newly created position to drive efforts and impact across Africa. Powered by everyday advocates, campaigns and events that span the world, Global Citizen’s efforts are critical to ending extreme poverty, and I’m humbled to bring my experience and leadership to this vital work,” says Chuks-Adizue. “I look forward to working with many fantastic partners to continue the momentum and growth of Move Afrika, the pioneering music touring circuit, and drive economic investment, job creation and entrepreneurship opportunities across the continent.”

Prior to joining Global Citizen, Chuks-Adizue served as executive director commercial at Chemical and Allied Products PLC (CAP PLC), a prominent paints manufacturer and distributor in Nigeria, and held key leadership roles at Procter & Gamble Nigeria and Cadbury Nigeria.

“Ifeoma’s extensive leadership experience, together with her passion for advocating for women and girls across Africa, perfectly aligns with Global Citizen’s mission,” adds Global Citizen president Liza Henshaw. “Her vast networks of relationships across various sectors will be instrumental in advancing our work across the African continent for years to come.”

Released in March on Loe Shimmy’s album Zombieland 2 (without Faiyaz), the song starts at No. 78 with 6.3 million official U.S. streams (up 138%) and 1.1 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 2%) in the Nov. 8-14 tracking week, according to Luminate.

The streaming bump can partly be attributed to a new remix of the track with Faiyaz, released Nov. 7 (per chart rules, all versions of the song are combined on Billboard‘s charts).

The song has also benefited from growing attention on TikTok, where it has soundtracked more than 163,000 clips. The new version with Faiyaz has already been used in over 5,000 TikToks.

Loe Shimmy is new to Billboard’s charts this year. Zombieland 2 (released on Loe Shimmy/NETL/Open Shift) became his first overall entry in April when it debuted at No. 13 on Heatseekers Albums (which ranks the most popular albums each week by new or developing acts). Two weeks ago, he earned his second chart appearance when “For Me” (the version without Faiyaz) debuted on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay at No. 39, marking his first radio chart hit. The song reaches a new No. 37 high on the latest list. It also debuts at No. 15 on Hot Rap Songs and No. 20 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

Like some other emerging rappers, Loe Shimmy hails from Pompano Beach, Fla. Along with Zombieland 2, he has released the set’s deluxe version, Zombieland 2.6, in 2024, along with his projects The Z Files in October and Nardy World on Nov. 8. Loe Shimmy has previously collaborated with fellow Pompano Beach native Kodak Black on the tracks “Get Away” and “Bounty.” He has also released music with fellow Florida rappers Luh Tyler and BossMan Dlow, as well as rising artists Veeze, Cash Cobain and BLP Kosher.

Olivia Rodrigo Takes Center Stage at the Live Music Summit
Rodrigo captivated the audience as she reflected on her successful 2024 GUTS World Tour. The “Vampire” singer’s GUTS Tour, launched in 2024 in support of her critically acclaimed sophomore album SOUR, marking a pivotal moment in the evolution of modern touring and the music industry. The tour showcased her ability to seamlessly blend introspective storytelling with electrifying live performances, resonating with audiences of all ages.

Spanning 95 dates across multiple continents, Rodrigo became a global phenomenon in 2024. Tickets for the sophomore tour sold out almost instantly across all markets, underscoring the immense demand for her live performances. She kicked off her performances in the United States and Canada during the Spring before touring Europe and the UK this summer and making her debut in Asia, and Australia this fall. The response was overwhelming, particularly in Asia and Australia, where the demand exceeded expectations, leading to multiple sold-out shows in every city – especially in Australia where she performed four sold-out nights in both Sydney and Melbourne, a testament to her skyrocketing popularity.

The GUTS Tour was not only a commercial triumph but also a cultural event, as it brought Rodrigo’s blend of heartfelt lyrics and powerful performances to new corners of the world, further establishing her as a defining voice of her generation.

Connection to Her Fans

Rodrigo’s career trajectory has been anything but conventional. Her debut album SOUR was released during the COVID-19 pandemic, and from the outset, she knew exactly what she wanted for her second album and accompanying tour.

Reflecting on her first experience on the road, the singer-songwriter shares, “After going on the first SOUR Tour, I learned so much about touring and learned how playing songs like ‘Brutal’ and ‘Good 4 U’ were so much fun on stage and with that information in my back pocket, I went on to make GUTS.”

For her second tour, Rodrigo sought to create a deeper connection with her audience. “Connecting with the audience and bringing them into your world was something that I wanted to achieve on this tour,” she shared, aiming to reach not only fans in the front row but also those in the back and higher up in the arenas. As part of her vision, she incorporated an innovative element into her live show: Rodrigo would be suspended in a purple crescent moon, flying above the crowd during her performances. This unique moment allowed her to wave to fans, particularly those moved to tears, offering a sense of intimacy and shared experience throughout the sold-out tour.

To make each show feel unique for her fans, Olivia and her team collaborated to create a new, city-specific phrase for her final outfit of every tour stop. Rodrigo reflects, “My team bought a machine where we should screenprint tank tops…and it became a fun creative outlet in itself.” Fans would eagerly anticipate the new phrase on her shirt each night, making it a special way to highlight each city on the tour.

A main takeaway from the GUTS Tour was the growing necessity of fan engagement in live shows. Many venues incorporated immersive experiences, digital interactivity and intimate moments that made each concert feel personalized specifically to them. Additionally, GUTS represented a new wave of tour strategies, emphasizing sustainability and creative, genre-blending setlists.

Olivia Rodrigo’s Commitment to Social Change
In addition to her musical success, Rodrigo launched her global initiative, Fund 4 Good, which is dedicated to building a more equitable future for women and girls. Through Fund 4 Good, she directly supports community-based nonprofits that focus on girls’ education, reproductive rights and the prevention of gender-based violence. “It was really meaningful to me to learn more about these organizations and support them,” she shared, “and I’m excited to do more in the future.” The Grammy Winning Artist recounted her experience on the Phillipines leg of her world tour – “I’m part Filipino and that was the first time I’ve been in the country. I wanted to give back to the community who supported me throughout my career”. Her show in the Philippines was her largest show on the tour – with 55,000 seats at the Philippine Arena in Manila, all priced at $27 USD/1,500 Philippine pesos  to ensure affordability for the half-Filipino singer’s fans.

Rodrigo also introduced the Silver Star Ticket program, offering a limited number of affordable $20 USD tickets (or local equivalent) to make her concerts accessible to more of her fans. Inspired by Coldplay’s Infinity Tickets, this initiative allowed fans to attend her shows at an affordable price, reinforcing Olivia’s and Live Nation’s commitment to inclusivity and fan engagement. This approach influenced the touring industry, encouraging other artists to offer similar exclusive packages. The Silver Star tickets demonstrated how fan loyalty and personalized experiences could drive both engagement and revenue in the modern live music landscape.

With a careful balance of commercial success and artistic integrity, Rodrigo’s latest tour reshaped how artists approach live performance in an era where streaming, viral moments with special guests, and social media heavily influence an artist’s connection with their audience.
