Zendaya Was ‘Devastated’ at 13 When Beyoncé Didn’t Sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Her at Concert

Zendaya learned a lesson the hard way at a Beyoncé concert back when the Euphoria actress was 13.

While speaking to W as part of the publication’s best performances package, which went live Friday (Jan. 3), Zendaya revealed that she didn’t have many celebrity crushes as a tween — but she did “have a Beyoncé poster on my wall, because I went to her concert for my 13th birthday,” she said.

The Challengers star went on to share a humbling memory from the show. “I was devastated that she didn’t sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to me, because I guess it was close to her birthday and she was singing to the audience,” Zendaya continued. “My dad was like, ‘Do you want me to put you on my shoulders?’ I was like, ‘No, that’s so embarrassing.’”

“Then, after, I was like, ‘Damn, I should have let him put me on his shoulders so she would’ve seen me,’” the Golden Globe winner added. “Thirteen-year-old me was very devastated that Beyoncé didn’t sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her.”

The “Break My Soul” singer may not have noticed 13-year-old Zendaya that day, but Bey certainly would in the future. In 2016, the Dune actress appeared alongside the 32-time Grammy winner in the latter’s Lemonade album film, and Bey’s mom, Tina Knowles, even said in April that Z reminds the matriarch of her famous eldest daughter.

In addition to the concert, Zendaya also opened up about another experience from her teens that she’s still a little salty about: coming in second place on season 16 of Dancing With the Stars. The then-16-year-old performer — whose dance partner was Val Chmerkovskiy — lost out to Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough in 2013, something which Zendaya said she’s “still harboring a little animosity.”

“I felt that loss,” she told W. “I was only 16 years old, and it was highly stressful. Being on live television every week? It’s so scary. I took it very seriously, which, in retrospect, I wish I didn’t. I wish I’d enjoyed it a little bit more and just was like, ‘Eh, whatever.’ You know what I mean? But I was stressing myself out. I really went through it on that.”

Ed Sheeran Lands Eighth No. 1 on U.K. Albums Chart With Greatest Hits Compilation

Ed Sheeran has secured his eighth No. 1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with his greatest hits compilation +–=÷× (Tour Collection).

The collection is made up of Sheeran’s hits from his Mathematical series of records: 2011’s + (Plus), 2014’s × (Multiply), 2017’s ÷ (Divide), 2021’s = (Equals) and 2023’s (Subtract). A number of songs from 2019’s standalone No. 6 Collaborations Project, including team-ups with Justin Bieber (“I Don’t Care”) and Rudimental (“Lay It on Me”), also feature.

First released in September 2024, +–=÷× (Tour Collection) has appeared on the charts for 14 weeks and initially peaked at No. 5. The album received a boost over the festive period when it was issued on vinyl for the first time, ultimately earning the compilation the top spot in 2025’s opening week (Jan. 3). All seven of Sheeran’s studio albums have previously reached No. 1 in the U.K. over the past decade.

Sheeran’s +–=÷× Tour, which kicked off in April 2022, is set to conclude this year after 165 shows. His upcoming slate will kick off in Bhutan on Jan. 24, before heading to a number of cities in India, China, Qatar and more, later returning to European stadiums throughout the summer.

In December, Sheeran teased that his new album would be a return to the bigger sounds heard on the compilation. “It feels like I’m getting back into big pop for the first time in a long time,” he told Variety. “It’s quite exciting.”

Sheeran’s most recent studio LP was 2023’s Autumn Variations, which landed at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

Elsewhere, there’s little movement week-on-week in the the top five, with Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet (No. 2), SZA’s SOS (No. 3), Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (No. 4) and Charli XCX’s Brat (No. 5) all staying put.

Gracie Abrams’ ‘That’s So True’ Earns a Sixth Week at No. 1 on U.K. Singles Chart

Gracie Abrams‘ “That’s So True” has returned to the top spot on the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart for a sixth non-consecutive week.

Following a three-week stint at No. 1 for Wham!‘s 1984 classic “Last Christmas” over the festive period, Abrams’ single returns to the top for 2025’s opening week (Jan. 3).

“That’s So True” first hit the top spot back in November and lasted at the summit for five consecutive weeks into mid-December. The song was the singer-songwriter’s first No. 1 hit in the U.K., and followed the release of a deluxe edition of her sophomore LP, The Secret of Us. She capped off 2024 by performing on Saturday Night Live in an episode hosted by comedian Chris Rock in December.

Elsewhere, ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ “A.P.T” returns to its previous high of No. 2 and spends a 10th week inside the top 10.

Lola Young’s rise continues as her viral hit “Messy” reaches a new high of No. 3, her highest charting placing in the U.K. so far. The song rises 30 places week-on-week, and tops the song’s previous placing at No. 7. Speaking to Billboard U.K. in November, Young discussed the success of the single and why the message of self-acceptance had resonated with fans. “For a long time, I wanted to represent this ideal of Westernized beauty – but then I realized I’m not that,” Young said. “I now choose to give realness and truth. I’ve got a bit of a belly out, I f–cking swear a bunch and I have fun. And that’s what people are resonating with.”

Gigi Perez’s “Sailor Song” lands at No. 3, and Bolton-born DJ Chrystal rounds out the top five with her dance track “The Days,” which previously peaked at No. 24. Teddy Swims, meanwhile, lands two entries inside the top 10 with “The Door ”(No. 6) and “Bad Dreams” (No. 7).

Ever since authorities raided Diddy’s properties early in 2024, multiple documentaries about Diddy’s secret lifestyle have gone into production, and Peacock has just released their trailer for the first of what’s to be many Diddy documentaries.

On Thursday (Jan. 2), Peacock dropped the teaser trailer for their upcoming documentary, Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy (clever title), and judging from the clips, it’s not going to be a something that “Brother Love” is going to, well, love. Featuring interviews from former colleagues, journalists, and even artists, the documentary is sure to shed some light on how the Diddler went about his disturbing business behind closed doors. According to Deadline, it’s sure to shock viewers who’ll no doubt indulge in the exposé of the music icon.

Per Deadline:

“Featuring never-before-seen footage and stories from those who know him best, Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy sheds light on his childhood, rise to fame, and recent criminal allegations, challenging viewers to rethink everything they thought they knew about the mogul behind the music—and the mugshot.”

The special features exclusive, never-before-seen footage of Diddy partying, at home and in the studio, as well as revealing interviews with some of those who’ve known Diddy best – including his childhood friend, his former bodyguard, and a “Making the Band” winner. Singer/songwriter/producer Al B. Sure!, who was Diddy’s label mate at Uptown Records and in a relationship with Kim Porter before she began dating Diddy, also speaks out for the first time.

Good thing Diddy’s locked up or else some of these people would be afraid to come forward. We already know that he has a thing for bombing cars, allegedly.

Check out the trailer for Diddy: the making of a Bad Boy, and let us know if you’ll be checking it out when it premiers on Peacock January 14 in the comments section below.

Bad Bunny Reveals Tracklist for Upcoming Album ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’

Bad Bunny revealed the tracklist to his upcoming sixth studio album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, on Friday (Jan. 3).

The Puerto Rican artist — who first teased “17 bomb tracks” on his X account on Christmas Day — revealed all of the track titles in an Instagram carousel post simply captioned with a baby blue heart. The first photo shows two plastic chairs under a plantain tree, whereas the second had the album’s tracklist.

With song titles such as “Nuevayol,” “Voy a Llevarte Pa PR,” “Welita” (“grandmother”), “Veldá” (“truth”) and the recently released “Pitorro de Coco,” Bad Bunny’s new set is an ode to his native Puerto Rico and its people.

A yellow sticker of a coqui (the island’s native frog) with the phrase “Puerto Rico, we’re still here” further emphasizes that sentiment. He also reeled in a group of emerging and well-known Puerto Rican collaborators including Dei V, Omar Courtz, Rainao, Chuwi and Pleneros de la Cresta.

The set of songs comes just moments after the artist dropped a melancholic short film that was written and directed by Benito himself and Arí Maniel Cruz Suárez. It features iconic filmmaker Jacobo Morales — who starred in Bad Bunny’s teaser video that announced his new album — and Morales’ loyal friend Concho (voiced by Kenneth Canales).

A contrast to his 2023 trap-heavy Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana, Bunny’s sixth project “is dedicated to all of the Puerto Ricans and the Puerto Ricans around the world,” as written on the album’s tracklist art. See it in his Instagram carousel below:

SZA’s ‘SOS’ Climbs to No. 2, While Michael Bublé’s ‘Christmas’ Tops the Billboard Canadian Albums Chart

It’s a battle between SOS and Christmas this week on the Canadian Billboard charts.

SZA’s new deluxe edition of her 2022 award-winner has pushed SOS back to the top spot on the Billboard 200. But in Canada, Michael Bublé’s Christmas continues to reign at No. 1 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart, with SOS rising to No. 2.

SOS Deluxe: Lana features 15 new SZA tracks, 10 of which are also on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 this week, though all debuting in that chart’s back half. The laid-back and loose “30 For 30” — featuring SZA’s favourite current collaborator, Kendrick Lamar — scores the highest debut at No. 64. Her other collab with Kendrick, “Luther,” sits higher at No. 51, though that one comes from his album GNX.

Toronto fans can likely expect to hear those songs live during Lamar and SZA’s upcoming June performances at Rogers Centre, one of the biggest concerts coming to Canada this year.

SZA’s songs are some of only a handful of new or non-holiday songs entering the Canadian Hot 100 this week, which is still dominated by holiday music. Michael Bublé’s 2011 Christmas album may be topping the Albums chart, but his newest Christmas song, “Maybe This Christmas,” is a new entry on the Canadian Hot 100 at No. 79. Featuring American country singer Carly Pearce and with a writing credit from Canadian legend Jann Arden, the waltzing ballad tells a story about regret and loneliness.

Now that Christmas is over, we’ll start to see those holiday songs declining on the charts next week, making space for new contenders to kick off the year. Will SZA dominate the start of 2025? Will Rosé get a post-Christmas bump? Here’s to the new year.

Ariana Grande Says She Checks Up on ‘Love Is Blind’ Couples to ‘Make Sure They’re Still Together’

Ariana Grande is a hopeless romantic when it comes to Love Is Blind, which the singer revealed is her favorite reality TV series in a recent interview with W

In her cover story for the publication’s best performances issue published Friday (Jan. 3), the 31-year-old singer-actress gushed that the experimental Netflix dating series is “just fantastic.” The show – which premiered in 2020 — blindly pairs up singles who aren’t allowed to see one another in person until they get engaged, at which point they have just a few weeks to live together before deciding whether they want to get married or part ways.

The legitimacy of the concept might raise some eyebrows, but Grande said that she has faith the show’s couples can go the distance. “Of course, I do,” she said. “Some of them do. I check sometimes.”

“I’ll go to Instagram and find these people and make sure they’re still together,” the “Yes, And?” singer added. “I need to know what’s happening.”

Grande was one of several stars who posed for W‘s best performances package, for which she also spoke about her career-shifting role as Glinda in Jon Chu’s Wicked films. Her co-leading lady, Cynthia Erivo, as well as Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldańa, Zendaya, Paul Mescal and more also all spoke to the magazine about their respective breakout film projects this year.

In addition to all things Wicked and Love Is Blind, the R.E.M. Beauty founder also told the publication about the movie that’s always guaranteed to make her cry — and it’s not one you might expect. “The Waterboy, with Adam Sandler, makes me cry,” Grande said. “When they’re mean to Bobby Boucher, I cry. I don’t like it. I love Bobby Boucher.”

“He says, ‘Would you please still be my friend?’ and I lose it,” she added before conceding, “But I cry at everything.”

Bad Bunny Releases Melancholic Short Film for Upcoming Album ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’: Watch

Bad Bunny is gearing up to release his highly anticipated new studio album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, set to drop on Sunday (Jan. 5). Ahead of that, he’s premiered a short film on YouTube that serves as a companion piece to the upcoming LP.

Written and directed by the Puerto Rican hitmaker (born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) and Arí Maniel Cruz Suárez, the 13-minute film features iconic filmmaker Jacobo Morales — who starred in Bad Bunny’s teaser video that announced his new album — and Morales’ loyal friend Concho (voiced by Kenneth Canales).

The story begins with Morales digging up a box in which he’s saved a few photographs. He opens it up but explains to his friend Concho that he wished he had taken even more photos back in the day because his memory isn’t as good as it used to be. As they look through the old photos, Morales steps out to buy food. On his walk to the bakery, he realizes that the neighborhood has been gentrified. He encounters a family who speaks English and is listening to country music, and the cashier at the bakery takes his order in English. Oh, and they don’t accept cash anymore.

A melancholic Morales returns to his friend, and while sitting on the front porch, a red car passes by playing that “sonido del barrio,” or music that represents the island — a glimmer of hope.

Bad Bunny’s Debí Tirar Más Fotos, which follows his 2023 Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana, will include previously released singles “EL CLúB” and “Pitorro de Coco.”

“We’ll be back Aspen,” Lopez captioned the video soundtracked by Moto Bandit’s “Daylight Doom.” In the clip, a smiling Lopez is surrounded by her crew, who match her vibe with their own bespoke cowboy hats and Western wear as they watch the star do a hoe down near a Christmas tree.

Elsewhere, Lopez trims a different tree, stares into the camera while wearing a fuzzy wool hat, goofs around with her 16-year-old twins with ex Marc Anthony, Emme and Max, and hits the slopes. There are snowmen galore, as well as a late night fireworks display viewed from a sleigh driven by one of her friends. Lopez spent the holidays in the Colorado ski town, as evidenced by earlier videos posted on Christmas Eve of a family hang and snaps of the kids opening presents on Christmas Day.

One conspicuous absence in the videos and pics was Lopez estranged husband Ben Affleck, with whom she split in August after two years of marriage; E! News reported that the couple were spotted hanging out a few days before Christmas in Los Angeles.

After starring in the Netflix sci-fi flick Atlas last year and the wrestling drama Unstoppable, Lopez will be seen next in the latest film adaptation of the musical drama Kiss of the Spider Woman, where she will take on the lead role of Ingrid Luna alongside co-star Diego Luna.

Stormzy Hit With 9-Month Driving Ban After Being Caught On Cellphone In Rolls-Royce

HipHopWired Featured Video

Boardmasters Festival 2024

Stormzy will be racking up a lot of rideshare miles for the better part of the year after the British rapper was hit with a nine-month driving ban. Stormzy was pinched by an off-duty police officer who caught the “Own It” star behind the wheels of his Rolls-Royce using a mobile phone.

The BBC reports that Stormzy, real name Michael Owuo Jr., entered a guilty plea by way of a letter in connection to the charge of using a mobile phone while driving his Wraith in London this past March.

The judge overseeing the matter, Andrew Sweet, cited that the rapper’s driving record was “not good” and the court heard previously that Stormzy has accrued six points on his license for speeding violations. The rapper’s legal representative informed the Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court that their client has accepted responsibility for his actions.

Before entering the guilty plea, Stormzy claimed he was not using his mobile phone but changed his tune after submitting the letter.

The BBC added in its reporting that Stormzy ran afoul of authorities after admitting that his Lamborghini Urus vehicle’s front windows were illegally tinted. In that matter as with the aforementioned case, the award-winning artist did not appear in court and was fined for the tinted window violation.
