Kylie Minogue shared five things fans may not know about her and spilled a bit about the making of some of her biggest hits while backstage at Billboard’s Women in Music.

Kylie Minogue:
Hi, I’m Kylie Minogue and here are five things you did not know about me.

Thinking now. Okay. One, I recorded “Padam Padam” in my hotel room.

Two, “Love At First Sight” was first dismissed and ended up being a really big song of mine, not by me by my label.

My first single “The Loco-Motion” was recorded as a demo. I didn’t have a- I wasn’t signed to anyone. So if that hadn’t gone to become a release, I would not be here chatting with you today.

The fourth thing you don’t know about me… I can’t wait to get my heels off. You may have guessed that.

Fifth thing, coffee is one of my favorite things. And those are five things you didn’t know about me and I didn’t intend to tell anyone. No, that’s alright. I can share them.

Tems opened up about her creative process, creating the howl sample in her track “Free Mind,” being inspired by other artists and more backstage at Billboard Women in Music 2024.

Hi, I’m Tems, and here are five things you don’t know about my music.

No. 1 is almost all my music is freestyle. It’s all came from freestyles. It’s just me freestyling the whole way through.

No. 2 two is that I have cried while making some of the songs because they were very personal to me. I think maybe that was too personal, but yeah, it’s true.

My favorite city to perform … right now, I don’t have a favorite city to perform. I really want to perform in Paris. I think that might be life-changing.

So I have a song called “Free Mind.” And when I was making that song, there’s a sample in the beginning that it’s like it sounds like it howl. A lot of people don’t know that I sang it into my laptop. I didn’t have a mic when I made that song, so I put my laptop speaker to my mouth and I sang the song, the sample.

What inspires me most is the season I’m in in life, coupled with the music that I’ve heard, people that I love: Frank Ocean, Aṣa, Sade. Those are the people that inspire me and helped me in my process.

What’s up, y’all? It’s Coco Jones. Three things that you don’t know about my music.

One: I’m a huge collaborator. If I heard a poem on the street, I’d be like “You! You’re talented! Come in the studio with me.”

Another thing is: I hate having to choose my favorite songs. I don’t know. I like them all. And I don’t care. Y’all choose, the audience, of course.

And the third thing I would say is: I am learning how to engineer so I can record myself because my next goal is to have an in-home studio that’s really good, like quality, top-notch.

The advice I would give to the younger me is simple: Never give up. Never give up. Never think to be not enough to do something and keep working hard. Keep believing in dreams. I know that’s simple but true.

Young Miko offers advice to women looking to break into music. She also talks about the importance of being yourself, having a support system and more backstage at Billboard Women in Music 2024.

So some advice I would give to women that are starting in music is to just be yourself. Make sure you look for something unique, something that you believe in. Make sure you know what you want to talk about. Make sure to surround yourself with people that genuinely care about you and that want to see you do great because women need more women. And we’re here for each other, and I can’t wait to see more boss a– girls get in the business.

My name is Lainey Wilson, and here are five things that you might not have known about my song “Heart Like A Truck.”

I wrote it during the pandemic.

I wrote it with two of my best friends. We like to call ourselves the Heart Wranglers.

We initially wrote the song really sped up and kind of rockin’ and then we ended up slowing it back down.

Every time I sing the song, I have to prepare myself mentally for that eight-second note at the end.

And also the song continues to change meanings for me. I feel like as my journey changes, it doesn’t mean that challenges go away. And I feel like every time I get to get on stage and sing it, I’m saying it right from the heart all over again.

Young Miko revealed five things you may not know about her music.

Young Miko:
Hey guys, my name is Young Miko and this is five things you probably don’t know about my music

Okay, number one, I write all of my songs with my producer, Mauro. He’s an amazing songwriter, not just a producer. I love him so much.

Number two, I think my drink of choice in the studio is wine. We like to have wine every now and then just to get the vibe going and that usually works.

My new single “Curita” just dropped. We recorded it in Electric Garden Studios in New York City and it was a super blast.

Number four, I like to have my friends in the studio, but then when it’s time to record, I kick everybody out because I’ll get nervous. Only Mauro and me in the booth.

And number five, I don’t have a specific way about how I write a song. It can go any way, I can come in inspired or it can be an old song I already have and switch it up. I just see how the day goes.

What I would have said to myself many years ago? I would told her to trust herself, to trust that feeling I had inside. I always had a feeling that many times, I tried to repress. If I had relied more on that feeling, I think it would have saved me a lot of time. But here we are anyway, and that’s what I would have told myself and that’s what I’m telling you: Trust in what you have in here.
