Tyla Wins & Stuns At MTV EMAs | Billboard News

Tyla pulled up to the MTV EMA’s in an Aaliyah-inspired dress and took home three wins. Keep watching to see her performance and more!

Tetris Kelly:
Tyla showed up and showed out at the EMAs in Manchester, England, last night. Hitting the red carpet dressed in a look inspired by R&B legend Aaliyah’s early 2000s VMA fit, she then took it to the stage to perform her hits “Water” and “Push 2 Start.” She took home three EMA awards for best R&B, best African act and best Afrobeats. In the R&B category, she faced some stiff competition from the likes of R&B superstars Usher, Tinashe, SZA, Victoria Monet and Kehlani. After her big win, Tyla had this to say.

Tyla:
Oh my gosh, guys, I am just as shocked as you guys like I don’t know what to do like I can’t. Thank you guys so much. Thank you to my tigers. Thank you to my team. Thank you to the EMAs. I know it’s so hard to categorize my music. I literally mix so many different genres into one, but R&B is a huge influence in my music.

Tetris Kelly:
We’re sending a huge congratulations to Tyla and all the other winners at last night’s EMAs. For more, keep it locked at Billboard News.

Now that the Presidential election is over and most Americans are now aware that the next four years (at least) will resemble that of the early 1900’s America, Consequence and Chuck D come through to give us a little history lesson about what we’ve overcome throughout the decades and what we may go through again.

In their new visuals to “What Has America Done,” Con and Chuck drop some gems about the racism and society as a whole as we see Black and White people interact in the ways you we already know and can expect for the foreseeable future.

Back in New York, Dave East takes it back to his block and for his clip to “PERCOCET” the Harlem representative rolls through the street with his team to blaze some chronic and sip some potion while styling some fancy ice and spiffy gear.

Check out the rest of today’s drops including work from Redman, Taeyree and Madenka, and more.

CONSEQUENCE & CHUCK D – “WHAT HAS AMERICA DONE”

DAVE EAST & ARAABMUZIK – “PERCOCET”

Beyoncé dominates again, as Chappell Roan gets nominated, like it or not. The industry heads to the bar… and the culture says [“They not like us”]. These are some key takeaways from the 2025 Grammy nominations. Beyoncé is the most nominated artist this year, grabbing 11 nominations including her Album of the Year nomination for ‘Cowboy Carter,’ where she’s nominated against albums like ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ ‘Brat,’ ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft,’ ‘Short n’ Sweet’ and some outliers like Andre 3000 and Jacob Collier. The Future Generation: Karol G, Young Miko & More Impact Latin Music | Billboard News

Presented by Lexus, proudly celebrating Latin music, this episode explores the impact of today’s artists — including Karol G, Young Miko and Bad Bunny — on the rise and trajectory of Latin music globally and across genres.

Leila Cobo:
The new generation of artists are pushing boundaries all the time.

Sigal Ratner-Arias:
I would love to have a crystal ball to see where Latin music is heading.

Isabela Raygoza:
I do believe that it’s women’s turn now.

Leila Cobo:
Latin music has found a new audience that it could not have before. Let’s talk about the future of Latin music. First of all, it’s very bright, because today, more than ever, music in Spanish, which is our definition of Latin music, is being consumed globally. If you go to Europe, if you go to Italy, London, France and you go to a random cafe, you’re very likely to walk in and hear music in Spanish. Latin music is part of the global soundtrack of pop music today.

Alex Torres:
Today, it’s easier to reach homes. It used to be that you had to be sitting in front of a TV to be able to watch certain content. Now you have it right here in the palm of your hand and just click and look for what you are interested in, what you want.

Isabela Raygoza:
With today’s social media like TikTok, people and artists are able to be vulnerable and themselves, so they don’t have to be entirely polished, like Ivan Cornejo, who can go on stage, be vulnerable, make mistakes, and his crowd will continue to love him for that, because they already feel like they know him.

Ed Sheeran Pays Tribute to Music Exec Max Lousada | Billboard News

Ed Sheeran honored outgoing CEO of Warner Music Group, Max Lousada, at the Music in Business UK Awards. Keep watching to get a peek at their speeches.

Narrator:

Ed Sheeran took to the stage at the “Music in Business UK Awards” to honor his friend and former CEO of Warner Music Group, Max Lousada. Max has had a hand in shaping the careers of many of today’s superstars like Dua Lipa, Rita Ora, Charlie XCX, and of course Ed Sheeran, to name a few. And he had this to say.

Ed Sheeran:

They don’t make people like him anymore, music people. And if they do, they only come around once in a generation. It’s not about having a big marketing brain or understanding algorithms or jumping on the new hot things. It’s about recognizing what are great great songs and who are great great artists and allowing them to grow.

Narrator:

The event was a loving affair, with Max sharing a few words himself after accepting his awards.

Max Lousada:

I kinda really wanted to dedicate this as a music executive and more importantly as a music fan, to everyone who backs new artists that have something to say.

Narrator:

Congrats go out to Max. And stay tuned to Billboard News for all the latest.

Grupo Niche on Keeping Jairo Valero’s Legacy Alive, ‘Cali Pachanguero’ Success | Billboard News

Grupo Niche explains how they are preserving Jairo Varela’s legacy, their reasons for continuous touring and how each member preserves their unique essence. The band discusses the success of “Cali Pachanguero,” their acclaimed album Niche Sinfónico and winning a Grammy for it, and more!

Leila Cobo:
Hello, everyone. Today, we welcome at Billboard singers from Grupo Niche!

Grupo Niche:
Yeah, hurray!

You don’t know how excited I am to have you here because I grew up with Grupo Niche, because I never had you all sitting here. The last time I talked to Grupo Niche was with Jairo Warela.

Wow!

So it’s been a long time. So what are you doing in New York? Tell me.

We’re happy to bring our Pachanguero tour. We celebrate 40 years of this iconic song. This big tour started in Australia. We went to Europe, Central America and America, and now we are in North America, sharing this beautiful legacy with you that master Jairo Varela and his Grupo Niche left us.

Now, I think you’re touring more than ever. When Jairo was alive, he played all weekends, but now I get the feeling that Niche … I get the press releases and I say, “These people don’t stop!” What happened? Why are people so excited with Niche after so long?

Thank God. It’s a blessing. The truth is we enjoy so much. As you said, our schedule begins and ends in January. We make our bags, we left in January and next January, we just exchange bags. We always make jokes about it, but it’s true. We really enjoy the love of all Nichistas worldwide.

Nichistas?

Nichistas.

That’s new for me.

Those are Grupo Niche fans. Are you Nichista?

I am mega Nichista, darling!
