With 13 Billboard Hot 100 No.1’s, 13 No.1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and 39 Billboard Music Awards, who ranks No.4 on the greatest pop stars of the 21st century list? Drake! The Canadian superstar first made his name playing Jimmy Brooks in ‘Degrassi: The Next Generation.’ Drake’s music career quickly rose after catching the attention of Lil Wayne, who signed him to his label “Young Money” Records. That led to Drake’s first appearance on the Billboard charts in 2009 with “Best I Ever Had.” As music streaming platforms like Spotify began to rise in popularity, so did Drake. He became the leader of hip-hop for the 2010s mixing his rap verse with more personal R&B style singing, like his frequent collabs with Rihanna during this time. His album ‘Take Care’ not only won his first Grammy in 2013, it continued to show his influence in pop culture. Drake continued to produce No.1 albums like ‘Nothing Was the Same,’ and ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.’ He also began working with another frequent collaborator “Future” with projects like ‘What a Time to Be Alive.’ 2016 was a huge year for Drake, his album ‘Views,’ debuted at No.1 and is his longest running No.1 album at 13 weeks. The album spanned some of the biggest hits of the decade like “Hotline Bling.” Another collab with Riri on “Too Good” and his first No.1 as a lead artist on the Hot 100 with “One Dance.”

It is unbelievable. We honestly did not expect that, plus we kind of did, but we didn’t.

KATSEYE is Billboard’s new Chartbreaker, and we caught up with them about what they’ve been up to and how it feels to be Billboard chart official. 

Manon:

It’s just, you know, a huge achievement. It feels amazing. It feels like our hard work is really paying off. And we love seeing all of the icons and fans out there, you know, doing the “Touch” dance. And yeah, we love that we you know, can make people smile and dance. And yeah, it’s amazing.

Tetris Kelly:

That’s right, they even got Usher to dance. 

Lara Raj:

I think Usher was a huge moment. He did the Jersey Club Remix, which made me sob because that’s just so cool. I feel like that was very unexpected for us. And then also just seeing people of a bunch of different age groups do the dance and just like-

Daniela Avanzini:

The babies. 

Lara Raj:

Yeah, like the babies we’ll see like animals and cats or are doing great. 

Tetris Kelly:

And can we talk about these epic mall shows? 

Sophia Laforteza:

The mall shows is such a throwback. It’s so cool that we are kind of like slowly bringing that back in. Because I feel like it’s a space where you don’t usually get artists like this. It’s like, it’s like it’s not really done anymore, and it’s like everybody used to do it back then.

It looks like we can expect some new tunes from Young Thug, Cordae and Doja Cat. In a now-deleted tweet, rapper-singer Doja Cat posted on X what many assume is her next album’s tracklist, with titles that include “Cards,” “Break My Heart,” “Take Me Dancing,” “Anything,” “Acts of Service,” “Crack,” “Appreciation” and more. There’s no info yet on a release date or what the title of her new LP will be. Speaking about album tracklists, Cordae took to IG to share his tracklist and reveal some of the features we can expect on his new LP, The Crossroads. The Crossroads will be Cordae’s third studio album and will feature hip hop heavies like Lil Wayne, Juicy J, Anderson .Paak, Ty Dolla $ign and Ye. Lastly, there’s word on the street that Young Thug was spotted in the studio with Future, Lil Baby and Travis Scott. Let’s hope the rumors are true and we’ll get a new track from Young Thug real soon.

We take you there in Billboard All Access. The exclusive pop-up, running until November 17th in LA, has everything you need if you’re a fan of Jung Kook’s iconic album ‘GOLDEN.’ All right. So what’s been your favorite part about the exhibition today?

Guest 1:

Probably listening to the stem files. The raw vocals are amazing. He’s one of my favorite singers ever. 

Guest 2:

I think my favorite part of the exhibition was the never-seen pictures. I think most of the pictures that we have seen online. There are some new ones, and he’s looking so cute and sexy in one of them. 

Tetris Kelly:

Yeah, he’s very adorable! 

Guest 3:

A lot of different things, basically all his different styles and everything, from the different music videos, all the intricate designs and everything. So I’m excited to check out everything. 

Tetris Kelly:

I mean, his music videos are pretty epic.

They are. They are. ‘Standing Next to You’ is one of my favorite ones and a little bit of Michael Jackson.

Tetris Kelly:

And the pop-up delivered. The trophy room has all his awards. Hey, look, it’s us! There were photo moments for fans to create. I had to take advantage. You could marvel at his amazing fashion, and fans could even leave the K-Pop King a handwritten message.

With Rosé and Bruno Mars’ “APT.” recently making a historic debut in the Hot 100 top 10, we’re taking a look at all the K-pop stars who have reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. We’re kicking off the list with a “stylish” artist who put Gangnam on the map with his viral hit “Gangnam Style.” Wop, wop, wop. PSY not only helped introduce the K-pop genre to the Western world, he also took the genre to new heights, becoming the first Korean artist to reach the Hot 100 top 10 with both “Gangnam Style” in 2012 and “Gentleman” in 2013. In 2018, BTS made history as the first Korean group to earn a spot in the Hot 100 top 10 with “Fake Love.” As a group, BTS has achieved incredible Billboard chart success, reaching the top 10 multiple times with songs like “Boy With Luv,” and grabbing the No.1 spot six times with songs such as “Butter,” “Permission to Dance” and “Dynamite.” “Like Dynamite, whoa.” “Dynamite,” the group’s first No. 1, helped them become the first all-South Korean act to earn the top spot on the chart. BTS members Jungkook and Jimin have also reached the top 10 with their solo songs.
