Tetris Kelly:

Billboard and Tres Generaciones Tequila teamed up to find the best Get Up Anthems in each city. Today, we’re in Los Angeles, the home of sun, Hollywood and West Coast hip-hop. What song energizes this city? We talk to locals to find out. All right, I’m hanging out trying to find the biggest Get Up Anthem in LA, so what song do you feel like reps this city?

Guest 1:

Off the back, they “Not Like Us,” bro.

Tetris Kelly:

I mean, that just came out. It’s already a classic?

Guest 1:

Yeah, it is, bro. I mean, they got people playing it everywhere.

Tetris Kelly:

What song do you feel like charges the city?

Guest 2:

I’mma say Montell [Jordan]’s “This Is How We Do It.”

Tetris Kelly:

Hey, the party’s here on the west side. What’s the song that represents Los Angeles?

Guest 3:

“It Was a Good Day.” Ice Cube.

Tetris Kelly:

Nice! Okay, what you know about Ice Cube, man?

Guest 3:

When I hit the switch, I can make that drop.

Tetris Kelly:

So tell me, what do you like about living in LA?

Guest 4:

The sunshine, 75-degree weather, the beaches.

Tetris Kelly:

But you gotta tell me what song represents the city the most?

Guest 4:

Anything I say from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg. Them two together, anything, that’s just chef’s kiss.

Tetris Kelly:

Which is like “Gin and Juice”?

Guest 4:

Of course, “Gin and Juice.”

Tetris Kelly:

What’s the best part about living in LA?

Guest 5:

South Central, you know what I mean? The girls, the cars, the money, the hustle, the culture, the environment.

Cash Cobain’s Thoughts on J. Cole’s ‘Rich N***az’ & More | Rolling Loud Miami 2024

Cash Cobain shares his favorite trends in hip-hop history, who he would switch bodies with for a day and more!

Kyle Denis:

First question for you. I need you to rank every New York City borough by how slizzy each person in the borough can get.

Cash Cobain:

Okay. Bronx is No. 1, Queens is No. 2, Brooklyn No. 3, Manhattan No. 4, Staten Island No. 5.

Brooklyn as No. 3 is kind of crazy, just being from Brooklyn. I thought it would be higher than that, but okay.

I’m from the Bronx, but I moved to Queens. So you know, by default, I know even though Bronx and Brooklyn got like some type of beef going on, Brooklyn always show love to Cash Cobain. I love Brooklyn.

All right, if you had to live in any hip-hop music video from the past, which one would it be?

Living it? Yeah, uh, hey, oh, “Hip Hop Hooray,” oh! That’s Brooklyn right there.

If you could erase one trend from hip-hop forever, what would you want?

One what?

One trend.

I wouldn’t erase nothing. Everything happens for a reason. We here now because of… You know what I’m saying, though? I wouldn’t erase nothing.

On the flip side, what’s your favorite trend in hip-hop history?

It’s just one era. N—as was rapping fast. A’ight so you know the song to what? To who? A little something like that? Um, what else. J. Cole got a song like that with that flow. It’s called “Rich N***az” with that flow.

What’s the craziest thing a fan has ever done to get your attention?

Tyga Says a New Album & Tour Are Coming Soon | Rolling Loud Miami 2024

Tyga shares that he has a new album and tour on the way, reminisces about the start of his career with “Coconut Juice” and “Bedrock,” and more!

Catrise Johnson:

You have 16 years of a song.

Tyga:

16 years?

Of a song. “Coconut Juice.”

Where the f— did y’all get that. Get the f— out of here.

That’s how the game is, that’s an amazing song. Let’s not play. Let’s not play. That was an amazing song.

Sure. I mean, sh–, it’s platinum, but you know.

Sixteen years of “Coconut Juice,” that kind of was your start. And you now have, I know, but now you have such longevity.

Actually, my start was “Young On Probation.” That was the first mixtape that I ever did, and I was 15. That was my start, which got me signed. And then it was that record, and then from after that, I signed to Young Money after that, and then “Bedrock.” For me, I feel like “Bedrock” was my reintroduction. That was my first introduction, and then “Bedrock” was like my reintroduction. You know what I mean?

100%, I agree with that. All right, what’s next for you?

Um, sh–, new album, new album. I’m mixing it right now. So, album, tour.

Can you tease anything on the album?

Sh–, I don’t know. We just got to see, you know? Working on a few features.

IU Opens Up About Being a Solo Artist & the Charm of K-Pop | Billboard Global No. 1s

IU is named Billboard Korea’s No. 1 artist of the year for Billboard’s Global No. 1s series. IU shares the pros and cons of being a solo artist, her openness to collaborating with international artists and more!

Billboard is launching its inaugural Global No. 1s series, an initiative to spotlight top-charting artists from around the world. Billboard has partnered with its 10-plus global editions to showcase distinct voices topping their local charts around the world in exclusive interviews. Stay tuned throughout the week to discover who’s No. 1 in the U.K., Brazil, Korea and more!

IU:
Global. Billboard. No. 1. There’s a lot of glorious words attached to this selection, so I’m just grateful that they’re giving me another chance and it’s a little bit awkward and I’m honored, but I think it’s a very good feeling.

If I had to say one thing, I don’t have any members to share the synergy on stage. In a group, each member has a role and I think the synergy that they have is amazing. It’s a little bit difficult to create any synergy because I have to do it by myself. And to talk about the advantages, on the contrary, I enjoy all the good things, whether it’s interest or love, by myself I think that’s the advantage of solo artists.

In fact, there were many good and grateful suggestions, but I think I wrote it because I felt a little vague about collaborating with artists with different languages, so I used to refuse many times, but now I don’t. I am more open to collaborating with global artists than before, please feel free to reach out to me. Especially in South Korea, those groups are very popular on Billboard and loved by many fans, and I think as a listener who loves K-pop, even if I’m just standing there, there is a worldview in K-pop culture.

Ana Castela Brightens Up 2024: ‘Nosso Quadro’ Enters Brazilian Hearts | Billboard Global No. 1s

Ana Castela brightens up Brazil as she partakes in Billboard’s ‘Global No. 1s’ series. The Sertanejo singer goes into detail about “Nosso Quadro” stealing the hearts of Brazil, possibly experimenting with other genres and more!

Billboard is launching its inaugural ‘Global No. 1s’ series, an initiative to spotlight top-charting artists from around the world. Billboard has partnered with its 10-plus global editions to showcase distinct voices topping their local charts around the world in exclusive interviews. Stay tuned throughout the week to discover who’s No. 1 in the UK, Brazil, Korea and more!

Ana Castela:

I’m really amazed to see that people enjoy my music, they are enjoying my work. And to see how far I’m getting, how far Ana Castela is getting. The positions that my songs are reaching. So, seeing my face on Billboard Brasil every day is really fulfilling for me to keep going on this path. I’m heading into the right way. “Nosso Quadro” is a song that my manager and his friend wrote for me. We recorded it for a project called ‘Agroplay Verão.’ It was raining a lot, very close to Balneário, and it was pouring. We didn’t even know if we’d be able to shoot the video. And it worked out. It was Ana Castela’s most successful song. And I think it’s the most beautiful song of all, the coolest song. So that we’re even writing another song in the same style as “Nosso Quadro” because I love it so much and I want to make another hit like it. It’s a really nice song to listen to, very heartfelt. Me, myself, I really like to be in all music genres because I listen to all genres of music. And the cool thing about Sertanejo is that we can dive into other styles.

Karrahbooo Clears the Air on Rumors About Her & More | Rolling Loud Miami 2024

Billboard caught up with Karrahbooo at Rolling Loud Miami 2024, and she dishes the tea on her life, rumors about her, her top female rappers and more!

Karrahbooo:

What’s up? It’s Karrahbooo, not the two. And we are at Rolling Loud with Billboard.

Meghan Mahar:

If you could live in any music video, what would you pick?

Dang this hard as f—. If I could live in any music video, I’m gonna say an answer, but like, this is like, just, like, a random answer, because I couldn’t really think it through. But I’m just gonna say, like, “FRONT END” bro, I like that video, it’s like a vibe, some little cute outfit. So, yeah, f— it.

If your life was a movie, what would the title be?

It is a movie, let me tell you. It would be probably called ‘Not the Two’ … and it would be directed by me, and it would be starring Zendaya. F— it.

What’s one rumor about you that you wish was actually true?

I don’t know. I don’t like the rumors about me. I don’t think none of them, I don’t want any of them to be true, and they’re not. So I guess I won.

Are you trying to clarify anything right now? Let the people know.

Sh–, f— it. Who don’t write they music, because I write my music and I have all my chains still, and what else? I don’t own 900k, and what else? I don’t even care. F— it. That’s all the sh–. F— it. It’s more. Oh, and I’m black. Are you dumb? Are you kidding me, bro? But it’s cool, though, I love everybody.

There’s a lot of trends in hip-hop, ins and outs. If you could erase one trend from hip-hop history forever, what would it be?

KUN:

Hi everyone, I’m KUN. First of all, I want to thank everyone who loves this song. For me, it’s more of an encouragement. It makes me want to work harder to create a better next piece. To produce better work to give back to everyone. Actually, at the beginning, I wanted to connect time and space and relate it to art and fashion. So I thought for a long time about what kind of word could represent this kind of imagery, this kind of artistic conception. In the end, the word “Afterglow” appeared in my mind. Also because during different flights, in the process of traveling, including during drives, we often see such scenery. It also represents a momentary feeling. So in the end, I used this theme, and it combined it with imaged in my mind of models walking the runway, with lights flashing continuously, time changing, people changing. This general feeling of my own imagined sensation, so I created this song. The process was actually quite fun and quite fast. We first decided on this theme. Then we played around freestyle, and the concept came together quickly. Actually, with “Afterglow,” I have started incorporating some soul elements and rock elements. For the production, we used a blend of modern and classic elements. So basically, this song marks the beginning of a creative approach I really resonate with.
