Tori Kelly:
“I could be your shelter.” Like, the crowd always has to sing that line. Hey, I’m Tori Kelly, and you’re watching Billboard News.

Rania Aniftos:
I’m Rania Aniftos with Billboard News, and I’m so excited to be here with the super talented, the super beautiful Tori Kelly.

First, how are you feeling after your hospitalization?

Tori Kelly:
I’m feeling good. I’m actually feeling really good. Totally caught me off guard. It was a scary few days, but I’m so happy that I had, like, a really good support system around me. I was mind blown by just all the love and support that I got during that time.

Rania Aniftos:
Beyond fans, Beyoncé sent you flowers.

Tori Kelly:
Beyoncé, yeah, I got a lot of flowers. But when Beyoncé’s flowers showed up it was like, “Oh, yeah, those are obviously from Beyoncé.” They were massive.

Rania Aniftos:
I mean, healing of the body and soul, though.

Tori Kelly:
Seriously yeah, I was like, “I’m good now. I’m good, yeah.”

Rania Aniftos:
I mean, but then you really did get back up and you went right on tour, basically.

Tori Kelly:
It is honestly a dream come true. I was looking forward to this tour for a while. And then I think now with everything that’s happened health wise too, I’m just even more grateful. And it feels even like more emotional being on stage now, and just not wanting to take a single second for granted.

Pop Culture Rewind: Cardi B’s Iconic ‘Okurrr’ Pepsi Super Bowl Commercial | Billboard News

Billboard takes a look back at when hip-hop superstar Cardi B’s “Okurrr” became so iconic that Pepsi decided to feature it in several Pepsi Super Bowl commercials in 2019.

Evan Burke:
Hip-Hop superstar Cardi B is just as famous for her hits as she is for her bombastic personality. Never did we see that more than when her phrase “Okurrr” became legend in her Pepsi ad. We take you to that moment in today’s Pop Culture Rewind.

“Okurrr,” the phrase used by Cardi B, had gained so much traction on social media she even had to explain it to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.

But in 2019, when Super Bowl time came, she dropped the perfect explanation with a little bit of help. Steve Carell, Lil Jon and more teamed up to say all the ways Pepsi is OK. But really it’s Cardi B’s ad that shined. Oh ma’am, it’s the best kind of word — one from the dictionary of pop culture.

We’ll have another huge moment for you next week in our Pop Culture Rewind.

When “The Monster,” which is a song I cowrote for Eminem and Rihanna, hit No. 1, I got a picture of all the Billboard Charts and it’s still in the bedroom that I grew up in, in Staten Island.

And she’s no stranger to the Billboard Hot 100 as an artist either with four songs making it to the Top 10 including the song that almost made it to the No. 1 spot on the coveted Hot 100 making it to No. 2.

Nicky Jam Plays Fishing for Answers | Billboard

Nicky Jam plays Fishing for Answers with Billboard backstage at Billboard’s Latin Music Week 2023.

Nicky Jam:
Hi, I’m Nicky Jam, and I’ll be Fishing for Answers with Billboard.

“What is your most embarrassing moment on stage moment?” My most embarrassing moment on stage … that’s a good question because I take care of myself a lot. I would say my most embarrassing moment on stage was when I lost my voice one time. I could barely sing and people noticed I couldn’t sing because my voice was gone. I had to let the backup singer sing and I was just pretending I was singing. There was still half an hour of the show left. For me, that was really embarrassing.

“Have you ever met someone who left you starstruck?” Who was it? Juan Luis Guerra. The first time I saw him was at an award show. I’ve been a fan of Juan Luis Guerra since I was about 8 years old and obviously, when I saw him, I was in shock. He is really big, literally. He measures, like, 6’3″ or 6’2″, something around that. The mere fact of being someone’s fan for so many years and following him, when you see him for the first time. I think he’s the only person who has affected me that way.

“What’s the best concert you’ve ever had?” A concert I had in Madrid about two years ago on my tour. It looked like a Queen concert. Incredible to see so many people giving me so much love, and there’s a point where you feel like crying because you feel it’s like a love overload, you get me, of so many people. That was clearly one of the best concerts I’ve ever had. I can’t remember the exact date, but I know it was in Madrid.
