Hey, this is 6lack and these are five things that you may not know about me.

One thing that you may not know about me is I really, really love and enjoy road trips. Anytime that I can have a moment to pack my car up and go, whether it’s North California, South California, North Georgia, South Georgia — I love to get in my car and drive as far as I can drive.

Another thing that you may not know about me is — or you might know about me — solitude is, like, one of my most favorite things in the world. I can sit in silence for hours and hours and hours and just be at peace, so nothing is wrong with me. I’m not depressed. I’m not sad or anything, I just enjoy my space and I enjoy peace and quiet.

I prefer to work in the morning time. The 5 to 7 a.m. window is a really really creative window for me to work. I used to do late-night sessions, but now I prefer super early morning session.

When I was a kid, I had a big issue eating vegetables. It was, like, I could sit at the table for hours with my head like this and just be playing with my food, or I was just, like, spread it out and make it look like I ate it. Sometimes I’ll take it to the bathroom and scrape it in the toilet, scrape it in the trash, but it a serious … like, I’m just not rocking with these.

I hate a great portion of white substances, so milk. I hate it. Mayonnaise, I hate it. Vanilla ice cream, I hate it. Whipped cream, I hate it. Yeah, anything that’s, like, reminiscent of those, I don’t really rock with at all, but milk is at the top of the list. I really, really despise milk.

Hot 100 Chart Reveal: Feb. 17 | Billboard News

This is the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 for the week dated Feb. 17. Grammys love sees “Flowers” back in the top 10, “Agora Hills” dips to No. 9, “Fast Car” sees a similar post Grammy bump.

As Tate McRae falls two spots to seven, Zach and Kacey stay put at six.

And more Grammy gains for SZA, who jumps five spots to five, “Cruel Summer” slips a spot to No. 4, while Benson Boone he hits a new No. 3 peak.

Teddy Swims flies up to No. 2 with “Lose Control.”

Grabbing a fifth non-consecutive week at No. 1 is Jack Harlow’s “Lovin’ On Me.”

Arthur Hanlon Talks About ‘Legados’ Series, What Fans Can Expect From Upcoming Shows & More | Billboard News

Acclaimed pianist Arthur Hanlon talks about the newest editions to his ‘Legados’ series, what inspired him to start playing Latin music, working with other artists like Fonseca and Orishas, other artists he wants to work with, what fans can expect from his upcoming ‘Piano Magic’ tour and more!

I kinda feel like, you know, the Wizard of Oz when like the house … and she lands in. I get to New York and all the sudden I’m in Latin musiclandia. Hey, everybody, I’m Arthur Hanlon and you’re watching Billboard News.

I’m Lyndsey Havens for Billboard News, and today we are joined by, I’m gonna say, Latin, Pop fusion pianist Arthur Hanlon. How are you doing?

Arthur Hanlon
I’m fine Lyndsay and I love that, I’m gonna steal it.

Lyndsey Havens
Please use it. It’s very hard to encompass all that you do, which we’ll get into. But I feel like that touches on some of what is drawing me to your music for sure.

Arthur Hanlon
It’s nice, it’s concise.

Lyndsey Havens
You had a very busy 2023, you released two EPs, in this ‘Legados’ series, started with the bachata one into pop. So I’d love to hear the inspiration for that series. And why did you decide to jump in with bachata?

Arthur Hanlon
Well, you know, my story is kind of different. I’m Irish-American with a passion for Latin music, which I discovered in New York and, you know, have 10 albums now and two HBO specials, a bunch of stuff. And I’m thinking what can I do? You know, it’s almost like a momentum memento. … This project is a series, you know, ‘Legados,’ which is legacies of songs that have inspired me when I really first got into heavy, heavy in the Latin music. And I decided in New York, you know, I’m going Latin, I’m going to create this fusion thing. And I’m not turning back. And so, you know, that was in New York in the early ’90s. I studied classical piano, Manhattan School of Music. My teacher was in Washington Heights. Washington Heights was this weird area because it is very classical, you know, Manhattan School, Juilliard, all these things and Dominicans and Colombians and the bachata, salsa, merengue was like pouring out into the street. And so this is the first songs I’ve heard. I walk in, I moved from Detroit playing lots of Motown. I heard that one that was Juan Luis Guerra. And I heard all this stuff like, oh my God, this is glorious. Yeah. So I wanted to start ‘Legados.’ This is like my personal, you know, songs that inspired me since I really really, you know, gotten involved with latin music.

Rosé of Blackpink attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Tokyo and her favorite 10 minutes was of course, “All Too Well.”

And Post Malone will be featured on Taylor’s new album April 19th. But he’s got other things to celebrate. Post Malone and Swae Lee’s “Sunflower” becomes the first ever double diamond single in RIAA history. It’s left all of the songs in the dust with an equivalent of 20 million in sales. And I guess all our stories today are connected to Taylor in some way. Sabrina Carpenter, opener of The Eras Tour, is working on some new music, and in an in-depth conversation with Interview, she opened up about how she’s been feeling about her songwriting process. She said, “I feel a lot freer and more excited about what I’m making now because I’ve realized that genre isn’t necessarily the most important thing. It’s about honesty and authenticity and whenever you gravitate towards.”

Black History Month Spotlight: The Success of Pharrell | Billboard News

For Black History Month, Billboard is celebrating by highlighting some of the greatest Black executives in music and today we’re celebrating Pharrell.

Four No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and five No. 1 hits on Hot R&B/ Hip-Hop Songs, Pharrell has been a force in the music industry for decades. He’s also created magic behind the scenes as a top producer working with music industry powerhouses like Beyonce, Jay Z and Snoop Dogg.

He won his first Grammy in 2003 and hasn’t looked back, winning 13 Grammy awards since.

Pharrell:
You know, when something gets really, really, really big eventually it has to, if it won’t explode, it has to implode, something has to happen. And when it does, something will emerge from the ashes.

Tetris Kelly:
He’s had tremendous success as the frontman for N.E.R.D and later as a solo artist releasing huge hits like “Happy,” “Blurred Lines” (with Robin Thicke and T.I.) and “Get Lucky” (with Daft Punk).

Pharrell founded Black Ambition in 2020, which funds and mentors Black and Hispanic entrepreneurs.

Today we highlight and honor the talented Pharrell.

Morat Announces Stadium Tour in Latin America, Talks Performing in Colombia & More | Billboard News

Colombian band Morat sat down with Billboard‘s Chief Content Officer of Latin/Español, Leila Cobo, to talk about their upcoming tour in Latin America, performing in El Campín stadium in Colombia and more!

Tetris Kelly:
Morat is about to hit the road and Leila Cobo sat down with the boys to talk about touring.

Leila Cobo:
This sound is going to be played in stadiums, starting this summer. Stadiums. In other words, we were talking about 15,000 people, now we are going to be talking about 45,000 people. What does that feel like? Is it a mixture of excitement, that we’re ready, I can’t wait to stand up there? What’s going on?

Morat:
Especially the one in Bogota, it’s particularly – like it hits you differently partly because I think there is one thing that happens in Colombia and that is that I feel that we are a country where we have become so accustomed to local consumption and genuinely value talent from our country. And usually what ends up happening is those who hit outside end up bouncing back in the country. It is a particular thing, but

Leila Cobo:
With that being said, you are signed with Universal in Spain.

Morat:
Aha, exactly. And people have a tendency to see that. And I feel like in the last I would say in the last ten years it feels like things are starting to change and it feels different. And being able to return home and play at the El Campín stadium, which is the stadium of the city we grew up in, it’s a very strong thing to think about playing there and then sleep in one’s house, then go out partying with friends, that is a very strange thing.

Usher
Hey Gail, how you doing? How are you doing love? It’s been a while.

Gail Mitchell
It hasn’t been a long time actually it’s been three years.

Usher
Well three years actually is for everybody else is a long time.

Gail Mitchell
But deja vu? Because we were sitting at Caesars Palace, yes, inside the theater. And you were rehearsing the first iteration of your residency. And look at you now on that stage Park MGM and now you’re going to be on a global stage.

Usher
Very happy to have been able to have that moment with you very happy to have started that and then 100 shows later on now plays a Super Bowl in Las Vegas. I’m very, very happy.

Gail Mitchell
You look very calm, cool and collected outside. It’s a matter of days at this point, right?

Usher
I’m trying my hardest not to overthink it but it’s literally 12 to 15 minutes, if I can manage to impress the entire world, over 30 years of a career within 15 minutes. It’s, it’s a lot, you know, I’m definitely happy that I’m coming off a successful residency and kind of in the rhythm of it overall. Because otherwise, you know, you kind of have to restart and relive the moments, but every day going on that stage from Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, it just reminded me of what my music has meant, and how people feel about me, and how I feel about it. You know, after you know, years and years are doing this, you can go tired, and just kind of grow frustrated, especially as music changes the standards of how we count, it changes the standard of what is hot, what’s not the standard of what’s cool, and what is and all of those things can kind of get to your mind. And, you know, make you even question if you really want to continue to do but when I went to Vegas, it just made me excited about all of it all over again.
