Chicano Batman:
I’m excited for people to hear the whole album. Finally, because we’re releasing singles. And every song is so diverse on this record.

My name is Bardo.

Sup, y’all, I’m Eduardo.

Hi, I’m Carlos, and we are Chicano Batman, and you are watching Billboard News.

Lyndsey Havens:
Hey, I’m Lyndsey Havens for Billboard News, and we’re here with L.A. legends Chicano Batman. How’s it going, guys?

I know it was your most collaborative album, from my understanding. So tell me a little bit about what that was like, you know, between all of you and then also the other people that you brought in for this?

Chicano Batman:
We wanted each of us to kind of have the reins on whatever song we presented to the group. Whether it’s “OK, I want string.” It’s kind of like the John Lennon vibe. I want strings on it. And they’re like, “OK, well, let’s let’s do it. Yeah.” And John Congleton was really … our producer was really helpful in that process. He’s also you know, he’s he’s a legend as well. I’m the biggest fan of St. Vincent. I’ll always work with St. Vincent, worked here at Sunset Sound, so it was … I don’t know. I was kind of sweating the day before. I was like, “Oh, The Doors recorded everything there.”

Erykah Badu & Azealia Banks Call Out Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen Is Back & More | Billboard News

Erykah Badu and Azealia Banks took to social media to give their unfiltered thoughts on Beyoncé’s upcoming album ‘Cowboy Carter.’ After having to postpone 29 shows, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band make their big return at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Djo returns to the top spot on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart as Beyoncé & Dasha break into the top 10. We break down Shakira’s chart history. And more!

Tetris Kelly
It’s Beyoncé’s world, we’re just living in it. We’re telling you the biggest songs on TikTok, hanging out with Karol G, talking about Shakira’s iconic career and taking you to see Bruce Springsteen. It’s Thursday, March 21st. I’m Tetris, and this is Billboard News. I’m so excited about ‘Cowboy Carter’ and I’m clearly not the only one. So let’s get into some Beyoncé news. ‘Cowboy Carter’ is one of the most anticipated albums of 2024. But this new era is rubbing some people the wrong way. Beyoncé already has a No. 1 song from her new album ‘Cowboy Carter’ and it doesn’t even drop until next week. But after revealing the album name, inspiration behind the project and an alternate cover, some other artists are questioning Queen Bey. Erykah Badu shared Bey’s alternate cover on IG with the caption “hm,” seeming to insinuate that she copied Badu’s propensity for rocking similar braids. She recently wore the same style at a red carpet and in a promo. After the Beyhive got wind of it, Erykah took to Twitter, saying to Jay Z ‘say something, Jay, you’re gonna let this woman and these bees do this to me?’ Jay-Z didn’t respond. But Beyoncé’s publicist Yvette seems to have acknowledged it, sharing a slideshow of B with braided hairstyles over her decadeslong career. Erykah Badu isn’t the only artist taking issue with Beyoncé’s new era.

Lainey Wilson Shares 5 Things You Didn’t Know About ‘Heart Like a Truck’ | Billboard’s Women in Music 2024

Lainey Wilson shares 5 things you didn’t know about her hit “Heart Like a Truck” backstage at Billboard’s Women in Music 2024.

Lainey Wilson
My name is Lainey Wilson, and here are five things that you might not have known about my song “Heart Like A Truck.”

I wrote it during the pandemic.

I wrote it with two of my best friends. We like to call ourselves the Heart Wranglers.

We initially wrote the song really sped up and kind of rockin’ and then we ended up slowing it back down.

Every time I sing the song, I have to prepare myself mentally for that eight-second note at the end.

And also the song continues to change meanings for me. I feel like as my journey changes, it doesn’t mean that challenges go away. And I feel like every time I get to get on stage and sing it, I’m saying it right from the heart all over again.

Young Miko Opens Up About Her Creative Process, Friendship With Her Producer Mauro & More | Billboard’s Women In Music 2024

Young Miko revealed five things you may not know about her music.

Young Miko:
Hey guys, my name is Young Miko and this is five things you probably don’t know about my music

Okay, number one, I write all of my songs with my producer, Mauro. He’s an amazing songwriter, not just a producer. I love him so much.

Number two, I think my drink of choice in the studio is wine. We like to have wine every now and then just to get the vibe going and that usually works.

My new single “Curita” just dropped. We recorded it in Electric Garden Studios in New York City and it was a super blast.

Number four, I like to have my friends in the studio, but then when it’s time to record, I kick everybody out because I’ll get nervous. Only Mauro and me in the booth.

And number five, I don’t have a specific way about how I write a song. It can go any way, I can come in inspired or it can be an old song I already have and switch it up. I just see how the day goes.

And those are five things you did not know about my music.

Shakira
Seventeen years later, I still get the references about “Hips Don’t Lie.” ‘Shakira, your hips don’t lie!’

Shakira is one of the hottest Latin artists in the world and her Billboard chart history proves it. In honor of the release of her upcoming album ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran,’ let’s take a look back at her biggest chart achievements. This is Billboard Explains: Shakira’s Global Domination. Shakira has 21 No. 1s on Latin Airplay, the most of any female artists, and 11 projects reached the Top Latin Albums chart. Over on the Hot 100, Shakira made her chart debut with “Whenever Wherever” in 2001, which peaked at No.6.

Karol G Shares Why It’s Important to Trust Yourself | Billboard Women In Music 2024

Karol G shares why it’s important to trust yourself, while giving her younger self advice backstage at Billboard Women In Music 2024.

Karol G:
What I would have said to myself many years ago? I would told her to trust herself, to trust that feeling I had inside. I always had a feeling that many times, I tried to repress. If I had relied more on that feeling, I think it would have saved me a lot of time. But here we are anyway, and that’s what I would have told myself and that’s what I’m telling you: Trust in what you have in here.
