Sean Miyashiro:
A lot of it, yeah, this is kind of like the consistent crew got it. I mean, everybody has made songs with the girls that are coming out, basically. They only have one song out.  

Lyndsey Havens:
Amazing.

No Na:
Coming soon.

Sean Miyashiro:
Hey, this is kind of fire, actually. 

Lyndsey Havens:
Do you usually wait to find a beat before you start writing? Or sometimes– 

No Na:
Yeah.

Lyndsey Havens:
OK, cool. Feel the vibe, and then you see what fits that? 

No Na:
Yeah. Baila comes up with the best melodies.

Lyndsey Havens:
That’s a good strength. 

No Na:
She makes the best lyrics. 

Sean Miyashiro:
Oh that’s so fire. The best. So the key is these, like lead bass lines that he does. He’s insane with this stuff. It kind of drives everything, right? It leads us. Should we start? Should we start coming up with the melodies. Let’s do it. 

No Na:

Who plays the most instruments?

Eduardo.

How many?

On stage, I play three: the saxophone, accordion and bass. 

And off the stage? 

Yes, just like that.

And you sing on top of that, so technically it’s four. 

But when I have to play something at a party or sometimes in emergencies, I play the electric bass, piano, acoustic guitar, electric guitar.

So everything. 

Yes, multiple. 

Eduardo is multipurpose. Who tells the best stories?

Stories? What kind? Like in songs?

No, stories around the table.

Ah, anecdotal stories around the dinner table. It would be Óscar. Oh you know I’m good at it when we haven’t slept. It helps us wake up. He shares anecdotes, but also we share our anecdotes with him 

Oh really?

Yes, I’m like that. Sometimes I’m desperate and nervous and they put me on a schedule. The funniest time was when I was coming with Luis from Colombia and we landed in Los Angeles for our connecting flight and I put my shoes on the wrong foot. Luis tells me, “you have your shoes on backwards,” and I look down and I’m like” they really are, no wonder they were hurting me a lot.”

Drake’s comeback bop hasn’t hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 yet, but with even Travis Scott playing it during his Coachella set, everybody is blasting “Nokia.” We all love a sample, and it’s one of the reasons Leon Thomas’ “Mutt” is so contagious. Morgan Wallen’s recently released track with Tate McRae is a smash out the gate and definitely a contender. Fans are obsessed with Jessie Murph’s “Blue Strips.” BigXthaPlug grabbed a Hot 100 top 10 when he joined the world of country with Bailey Zimmerman. And KATSEYE has been hitting stages and making everybody question what’s “Gnarly,” including slaying in a TikTok with us.

Sombr has us all in the feels this summer with “Undressed.” And from touring with Sabrina Carpenter to having her own hit almost 10 years into her career, “Love Me Not” is a smash. Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” is everywhere, and like Drake’s “Nokia,” he’s only hit No. 2 on the Hot 100, but feels like the top of the chart is within his grasp. And you may have been hearing a lot of “DTMF” coming from Benito, but we have another Bad Bunny track on our radar.

It was here. I’d never heard you before. Right? And then we went, you started playing. And a guy who grew up with, you know, I grew up at the Palomino club, listening to Mel Tillis, listening to Marty Robbins. We had, you know, Waylon Jennings over at our ranch.

John Cena’s ‘You Can’t See Me’ Marks 20th Anniversary | Billboard News

John Cena’s You Can’t See Me has hit its 20th anniversary, and we’re taking a look back into how the album rocked the Billboard 200, and how he bridged the world of hip-hop and wrestling.

During this WWE renaissance, we’d be remiss to not celebrate the man who bridged the gap between hip-hop and wrestling in the first place. John Cena was originally known as a wrestling legend, but has proven his duality beyond this in the world of entertainment. Twenty years ago, he made his music debut with his rap album You Can’t See Me in collaboration with his cousin and fellow rapper, Trademarc. The album debuted at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 and peaked at No. 3 on the Top Rap Albums chart on May 28, 2005.

“The Time Is Now” became Cena’s armor, as he was dubbed WWE Superman. “You can’t see me” is not only the chorus to his anthem, but a gesture and phrase that has transcended generations. In an interview, Cena said the gesture originated from hip-hop after seeing a dance that Tony Yayo did in a G-Unit music video. We’re still hearing it and seeing it today as a telltale signature for rivalry and beat also fueled into humor. Just Google “you can’t see me,” and the plethora of memes and chatter will show you it’s more relevant than ever.

Hip-hop has continued to dominate in the wrestling universe. Rappers like Drake, Metro Boomin, Quavo and Lil Yachty are enthusiastically ringside at wrestling, fan girling over WWE superstars, wondering how they can make their way into the ring.

Sueños Music Festival in Chicago was full of the hottest latin stars, including Shakira, Peso Pluma and El Alfa! We take you inside the two-day festival and run through everything you might have missed.

Sueños Music Festival in Chicago took place on May 24 and 25 at Grant Park, and Billboard was there! Not even the cold weather stopped fans from attending the fourth edition of this event held in the city’s downtown area, wearing Instagram-worthy outfits perfect for a festival. Thousands of people gathered on the first day to see their favorite artists such as El Alfa, Oscar Maydon, Arcangel, Peso Pluma and Shakira, who brought her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour to Chicago. The She Wolf finally reunited with her Chicago pack.

The second day featured performances by Tito Double P, Grupo Frontera and Don Omar, who closed out the second and final day of Sueños. The Puerto Rican superstar ended the festival with a bang, singing major hits like “Danza Kuduro,” “Dale Don” and “Ella y Yo.”

Hi I’m Gloria Estefan, and welcome to Billboard Latin!

Sigal Ratner-Arias:

Congratulations on ‘Raíces,’ your 30th album in 50 years, and the first in Spanish in 18 years. It’s a beautiful way to celebrate your anniversary. Was it important for you to make an album in your native language?

Absolutely, I wanted to return full circle. Emilio didn’t even notice that it was my 50 years and I told him when he came to me with the idea of  “Raíces,” and when I wrote the song, he said “I want you to sing it.” In that moment, I was super focused on ‘Basura,’ the musical. So I told him, “Babe, I can’t. I can’t change my mind for this, but I would like to create a new album that’s tropical in Spanish.” And he tells me, “Do you trust me?” And I go, “Who else am I going to trust more than you?”  

The title obviously explains what it is. “Mi Tierra” was an homage to Cuba. What is “Raíces” for you? 

Well we picked “Raíces” as the title because roots are also in the land. It’s like a modern “Mi Tierra” because when we had the concept to do the album for ‘Mi Tierra,’ we wanted to highlight an era of Cuban music that was really rich that was celebrated all throughout the world before BC. Before Castro.

From the blasting beats of EDM in Vegas to hot Latin sounds in Chicago and rocking out and sipping wine in Napa, festival season is in high gear, and Billboard is lucky enough to be able to bring you with us, sponsored by Amazon Prime.The Electric Daisy Carnival takes over the Las Vegas Motor Speedway every year with the biggest names in electronic dance music and from underground DJs to massive names like Tiësto. We talked with and saw them all.

Tiësto: Who would have thought Tiësto would have a collab with Sexyy Red? No one, absolutely no one. But here it is, and it’s an amazing track. I think people will really like it. It’s, it’s super dance. I’m gonna play the track tonight, I think, so it’s it’s gonna be epic.

Over in Chicago, we got to see the Sueños Festival take over the city’s iconic Grant Park, and the biggest names in Latin music were there, from Grupo Frontera to Peso Pluma and Shakira. And up in Northern California, the vibes were at BottleRock in Napa Valley, with an eclectic lineup that included Benson Boone, Justin Timberlake and Green Day. And it always comes back to EDM with an act like Kaskade.

Kaskade: For me, it’s just about both of us just playing stuff that we love and trying to figure out that bridge in between. So, yeah, I mean, we’ve only played a handful of shows together, so we’re still kind of discovering that as we play out more together for festival

It’s a Morgan Wallen takeover after the release of his new album. This is the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 for the week dated May 31. Jumping back in the top 10 is “Love Somebody.” “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” falls to nine. “Superman” moves up to No. 8, while “I Got Better” debuts at No. 7. “Die With a Smile” is down to six, while “Luther” slips from No. 1 to five. “Ordinary” drops from two to four. “I’m the Problem” is in at three with “Just In Case” climbing to No. 2. And debuting at No. 1 is Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae with “What I Want,” her first No. 1.
