Juelz Santana, he of The Diplomats fame, is exactly the first person that comes to mind when one thinks of success and education, and we’re sure you can detect the sarcasm. In a recent appearance, Juelz Santana suggested that children don’t need to learn how to read and should instead focus on math and finances.

Keeping things Harlem, Juelz Santana, aka “Mr. Human Crack In The Flesh,” joined the set of the No Funny Shxt podcast and covered a wide range of topics. The episode naturally opens up with Santana showing Kenny “KP” Supreme and DP how to tie his signature bandana style.

Santana displayed moments of humility and wisdom after sharing his woes with using lean, and even showed some remorse for promoting the lifestyle surrounding the drug. He also shared details of his successful cannabis brand, promising an update soon.

Near the end of the podcast, after a hilarious tale of crossing paths with Mike Tyson, Santana seemed to start out the gate correctly in saying children should embrace financial literacy, but lost the plot swiftly after boldly declaring that reading is indeed not fundamental.

“By the time they get to 9th grade, they should be learning how to start businesses,” Santana began. “But they don’t really know how to read. I say that respectfully.”

Santana was hit with some mixed results from KP and DP, and tried to clarify his point by saying audiobooks are just as valuable as reading.

He hammered everything home by saying, “I believe common sense is better than everything. I’m a common sense n*gga.” What was the last book Santana listened to? 48 Laws of Power.

Right.

While Juelz Santana is correct in saying some kids could benefit from audio learning, he’s expressing that angle in place of reading, and it could become a confusing message to the youth. For someone who didn’t want to promote drug use to kids, it appeared odd for him to promote moving away from the benefits of literacy.

Trending on Billboard Spotify is rolling out music videos to its users in the U.S. and Canada, the company confirmed with Billboard. The feature was previously beta-tested in nearly 100 overseas markets last year. A Spotify representative says music videos will be integrated into the service in the coming weeks for U.S. and Canadian customers, […]

Over the past few years, Busta Rhymes has experienced a resurgence of sorts as the man released some pretty impressive albums and found himself being featured on other artists’ records like it was the late 90s all over again, and now the man is lending his talents to an up-and-coming Latina artist that will no doubt be making much noise going forward.

Linking up with Minelli for the black-and-white visuals to “Azucar,” Bussa Buss and Minelli kick it on a private estate where they use the fancy backdrop to conduct a photoshoot while they display their musical talents and show they can pull off quite a few poses in luxurious leather attire.

Back in the South, Lil Flip is still balling something serious (pause?) and for his clip to “Slingshot,” the rap veteran pulls out some supped up slingshot automobiles to roll around town before pulling over and throwing a block party of sorts where he gets turnt up with his peoples.

Check out the rest of today’s drops, including work from Do Or Die, YFN Lucci, and more.

Red Bull Spiral, the innovative cypher series from the minds of Red Bull 1520, unleashed their latest freestyle from three of the West Coast’s most talented lyricists. YG, Mozzy, and Jay Rock all delivered a strong showing on the Red Bull Spiral set, putting on for their respective neighborhoods and sets.

For the fourth episode of the third season of Red Bull Spiral, “Bompton” star YG, Sacramento spitter Mozzy, and Watts stalwart Jay Rock displayed their unique and versatile abilities over a solid and funky West Coast bop from producer Smokey Beats.

YG kicked it off by addressing chatter that he’s no longer in the spotlight, but quickly reminded listeners why he was able to capture ears with a reinvigorated flow and a clever nod to Red Bull in his closing line. Mozzy, who dropped his last album, Intrusive Thoughts, earlier this year, followed with some of that Oak Park flavor. On the anchoring verse, TDE mainstay Jay Rock delivered a blistering verse that reminds us that we are all waiting for his upcoming Eastside Johnny album.

Not to be vague about it, but most fans of these artists are aware of their affiliation with a particular inner city group as they’ve revealed in their bars here and over the years.

Check out the Red Bull Spiral freestyle session with YG, Mozzy, and Jay Rock below.

Young Bleed, once a member of Master P’s No Limit Records collective, has died after suffering a medical event last week. There were premature reports of Young Bleed’s passing, but his son and recording artist Ty’Gee Ramon shared a post on social media confirming the loss of the Baton Rouge rapper.

Ty’Gee Ramon, who is Young Bleed’s eldest child, took to his Instagram page to not only honor his father movingly but also to clear up all the chatter surrounding his passing. According to Ramon, his father did suffer from high blood pressure but was not dealing with any notable health issues.

Throughout the video, Ramon showed impeccable poise in talking about his father. Ramon revealed that his father suffered a brain aneurysm after attending an afterparty connected to the recent Cash Money Records and No Limit Records VERZUZ celebration. Ramon also thanked all of those who had positive thoughts for the family and were rooting for a recovery.

Ramon, like his father, is a rapper signed to Bleed’s Trap Door Entertainment label.

Young Bleed started his career in the late 1990s and was eventually signed to Priority Records with the help of Master P’s No Limit Records machine. His debut album, My Balls and My Word, was released in 1998 and eventually went gold. Bleed’s last album, Signs N’ Wonders, was released on his Trap Door Entertainment imprint in 2020.

To the family, friends, and fans of Young Bleed, Hip-Hop Wired sends our deepest condolences.

Young Bleed, fresh from an appearance with his No Limit Records family in the recent VERZUZ clash with Cash Money Records, was the subject of reports that he unfortunately passed away. After urging from the rapper’s family, it has since been revealed that Young Bleed is currently hospitalized and being held at an ICU.

Young Bleed is still alive and fighting for his life after he was hospitalized earlier in the week for reasons that have not been revealed to the public. On social media, several large accounts began posting memorials in Bleed’s honor, prompting his sister, Tedra Johsnon-Spears, to take to Facebook and ask everyone to take down the news.

From Facebook:

Stephen A. Smith used his massive platform to lash out at Rep. Jasmine Crockett, urging the Texas congresswoman to put aside her grievances with President Donald Trump. With the smoke clearing and after getting blasted online and in the media, Stephen A. Smith walked back his critiques of Crockett and took a shot at Trump as well.

Via his Straight Shooter With Stephen A program, Stephen A. Smith, apparently inspired by President Trump and his administration’s targeted attacks against Rep. Crockett, gave an apology that wasn’t as full-throated as his earlier digs against the Texas congresswoman.

“I can look Jasmine Crockett in the face and say I’m sorry for any kind of noise I caused in your direction, because she is accomplished, and she is smart, and she does have an incredible, incredible challenge working in this political climate on Capitol Hill,” Smith said.

Smith also said, “I saw something disturbing in regards to President Donald Trump and how he came at Representative Jasmine Crockett. I get it now with Trump feeding into that nonsense, giving him ammunition to continue to go out there and talk about our Black women that way, I got it.”

President Trump referred to Congresswoman Crockett as a “low IQ person” this past June, a shot she didn’t take without returning fire of her own.

Smith also hit back at his critics, who felt that his words were meant to attack or harm Crockett because she’s a woman.

“When somebody tries to take that to accuse me of being disrespectful or in any way misogynistic, I’m going to push back on that because that’s emphatically false. There’s no truth to that whatsoever, and I’m not accepting that, and I’m not owning that,” Smith added.

Smith also took a dig at the Democratic Party, suggesting that its leaders figure out better strategies to appeal to voters, stating that Trump won the past election due to frustrations with the party at large.

For a minute there, it seemed like Lil Yachty was actually leveling up his sound and speaking in comprehensible rhymes and sentences. But now it looks like the polarizing rapper is back to his “mumble rap” roots and giving his day-one fans the Yachty that they’re used to.

Dropping off some new visuals to “Endless,” Lil Yachty takes the viewer on a journey into himself as we travel into countless windows that feature the rapper in every last one doing what he does and rapping while dancing to his heart’s content. We’d be shocked if any of his fans can catch every one of his rhymes on the first listen.

On the flip side, Hit-Boy and The Alchemist give some Hip-Hop purists something they can understand, and for their Havoc-assisted clip to “Celebration Moments,” the three artists take to the streets of New York to do a meet-and-greet before taking in the bright lights of the City That Never Sleeps.

Check out the rest of today’s drops, including work from Curren$y, DJ Premier and Ransom, and more.
