It’s been almost 40 years since Transformers: The Animated Movie had ’70s and ’80s babies shedding tears in movie theaters across the globe when Optimus Prime took the sacrificial L. (That was a hard one to process.)

Now, Paramount Pictures is releasing a brand new animated Transformers film. To celebrate the first animated feature in decades the movie studio decided to release the first trailer for the movie… in space! A comedic buddy story centered around the origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron (who were known as Orion Pax and D-16 respectively), Transformers One takes fans into their humble beginnings as friendly underground worker robots before they became bitter enemies and generals in the war for Cybertron.

After breaking defying regulations and breaking into the outside world, an adventurous Orion Pax and reluctant D-16 come to realize all is not what it seems before meeting an ancient robot being and being blessed with the abilities to transform for the first time in their lives.
Chris Hemsworth (Optimus Prime) and Brian Tyree Henry (Megatron) introduce the trailer to the upcoming film and showcase how it became the first movie trailer to debut in space with the help of a weather balloon which flew into our atmosphere and premiered it where no one other than maybe some space aliens could see it.
Extraterrestrial life must wonder why we use such advance technology for such primitive reasons. Transformers One also stars Scarlett Johansson (Elita-1) and Keegan-Michael Key (B-127), who join Orion and D-16 on their brotherly adventure.

While the Transformers film series has enjoyed massive success over the years, the same cannot be said for the big-screen adaptation of G.I. Joe. But that isn’t stopping the movie studios from going forward with a crossover event that may help transform G.I. Joe into a popular film franchise.

According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures has confirmed that a Transformers and G.I. Joe film has been given the green light and though that would’ve been a dream come true for kids in the 80’s, we’re not sure how well that’ll fair with fans in 2024. After the crossover was teased during last summer’s Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts, fans weren’t sure if it would actually happen but it seems like it will and we’re not gonna lie, we’re lowkey interested to see how it all plays out.
Per Deadline:

Steven Spielberg is executive producing the new film. No filmmaker attached yet, despite the idea being hatched by filmmaker Steven Caple Jr. in Rise of the Beasts.
Caple Jr said he was in talks for another Transformers movie after the success of Rise of the Beasts at the B.O. which made close to $439M worldwide more than Disney/Lucasfilm’s franchise finale last summer, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny which only did north of $383M.
Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is returning along with Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto & Don Murphy.
With Steven Spielberg attached to the project there’s actually hope that the film could be much better than those horrible Alien vs. Predator films. What a f*ckin’ letdown. Just sayin.’
No word on whether G.I. Joe alumni such as Channing Tatum or Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson will be taking part in the upcoming crossover, but if they do you can bet it’ll be a blockbuster event for whatever summer this film releases.

The Transformers film franchise doesn’t have the same blockbuster power it might’ve had more than a decade ago, but director Steven Caple Jr. is hoping to change that with his latest installment, Transformers: Rise of The Beasts. The latest trailer does show a lot of promise.

Starring up and coming Latino star in the making Anthony Ramos (In The Heights), the latest trailer to Transformers: Rise of The Beasts gives us a better look at the Maximal transformers which turn into animals instead of cars, but are actually descendants of the Autobots. With a new threat coming to earth in the form of Unicron who’s capable of devouring the planet, Galactus style, the Autobots and Maximals have to figure out how to stop him with the help of a Latino kid from Brooklyn (FOH Shia LaBeouf!).

Filled with dope action sequences, impressive special effects, and people of color, Transformers: Rise of The Beasts may actually be the film to take the struggling franchise and make it a summer powerhouse again.

Gen X and Millennials hold a special place in their heart for ’80s cartoons such as Thundercats, Transformers and Voltron, so when fan favorite Autobot, Optimus Prime, received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Kids’ Choice Awards over the weekend, everyone over the age of 40 certainly approved.

According to Variety, the star of the Transformers franchise was bestowed with the lifetime honor Saturday night (March 4), for giving children and adults a lifetime of memories both in cartoon and CGI form as the Transformers film franchise has been churning out movies for the past decade and change (for better and worse). Introduced by Pete Davidson, Optimus Prime appeared on the Jumbotron to thank his fans and called for unity during his acceptance speech.
From Variety:

Optimus Prime accepted his award via prerecorded statement, presumably because the Microsoft Theater does not have doors big enough to accommodate him. “Let this award seal the bond between humans, Maximals, and Autobots,” he said, “as we fight together to protect the planet.” Celebs always go political with their speeches. It’s the Stranger Things SAG win all over again.
That’s so Optimus Prime.
