Issues between Lou Gramm and Foreigner — especially with band founder Mick Jones — have been well-documented over the years, especially after Gramm’s final departure in early 2003. But in the wake of Foreigner’s “life-changing” induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last October, Gramm has a new attitude.

“Ever since (the induction) it felt like, personally, I had to find a way to let go of some of the things I’ve been holding onto for years — and, like the song says, let it be,” Gramm tells Billboard. Gramm, who was Foreigner’s original singer in 1976 and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame with Jones in 2013, has been making occasional guest appearances with Foreigner since 2017. After singing a pair of encore songs with the band on March 15 in Clearwater, Fla., it was announced that Gramm will be joining the group for an eight-date Historic Farewell Tour run through Mexico and South America that starts April 28 and includes shows in Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, Argentina and Brazil.

Kelly Hansen, Foreigner’s frontman since 2005, will not be part of those concerts, with guitarist Luis Maldonado taking his place and planning to sing some of the repertoire in Spanish. “It’s a hackneyed sentiment, but it’s true — life’s too short,” Gramm says of his latest return to the fold. “And a lot of the things that are blown up and made big deals about are easy enough to get over and humble yourself and reach out a little bit, ’cause what you’ve been mad about for the past 20 years is not a monumental thing.”

Gramm and Jones have both acknowledged a sometimes volatile relationship as a songwriting tandem and bandmates during the former’s three tenures with Foreigner, often related to the dynamic of Gramm as a junior partner in the equation. More recently there was a dustup over ownership of demo recordings the two made during the early 2000s. But the Rock Hall induction, which Jones missed due to his continuing battle with Parkinson’s disease, clearly softened Gramm’s outlook.

“I hope he was watching the show,” says Gramm, who’s not in touch with Jones directly anymore. “It was a great experience and…a real honor for what all of us, and especially Mick, have accomplished. Our creative partnership was really excellent. I think we were all very proud.” The new bonhomie extends to his relationship with Hansen as well. “We didn’t have a very good relationship before, either, but it’s good now,” Gramm confirms.

“I’m glad he feels that way,” Hansen says in a separate interview. “Hopefully we’re gonna be having a lot of the original guys come on stage here and coming out for our 50th anniversary, which is next year. That’s kind of full circle. We like that energy, and I think everyone understands of how fortunate we all are to have been part of this legacy and enjoy the commonality of this legacy.”

Gramm, for his part, says he’s up for joining Foreigner for more of its 2025 dates in North America and certainly plans to be part of the 2026 activities, which will also mark the 45th anniversary of 1981’s six-times platinum 4 album. “I don’t think there’s any contrivance or people questioning the reason why I would be up there with that band,” Gramm says, noting that the current edition, active since the mid-2000s, “is something Mick wanted to do after we parted company, and he did a great job and they’ve done a great job over the last two decades of keeping the name up there and flying the flag. They deserve a lot of credit.”

The current Foreigner performed during the Rock Hall induction ceremony, backing guest singers Demi Lovato (“Feels Like the First Time”), Sammy Hagar with Slash (“Hot Blooded”) and Kelly Clarkson, with Gramm, on their Billboard Hot 100 topper “I Want to Know What Love Is,” on which original keyboardist Al Greenwood and second bassist Rick Wills sang backup. “There was a lot of awesome talent that I enjoyed listening to,” Gramm recalls, though he acknowledges that, “I wasn’t crazy about the fact I was in the dressing room while ‘Hot Blooded’ and some rockers were sung by other singers — great singers, of course, but I made no bones about it that I wanted to sing a rock n’ roll song. While I really I like (‘I Want to Know What Love Is’), it wasn’t my favorite song to sing that night. But singing with Kelly Clarkson made it so special. She’s such an awesome singer, and we did a very good job together.”

Foreigner’s other big news during 2024 was the release of “Turning Back the Time,” an archived 1996 track, for a new compilation of the same name. Gramm says there’s more where that came from, including another unreleased song, “Fool If You Love Him,” that he recently recorded some fresh vocals for. “For every Foreigner album we always recorded three or four songs more than we needed, and we usually chose 10 songs and rest were either done or almost done but were excellent,” Gramm says. “They fall by the wayside on times like this. There doesn’t seem to ever be a lack of material.” Jones, who stopped touring with Foreigner some years ago, has been working with Marti Frederiksen on both existing and new material, and Hansen confirms that “there’s a bunch of stuff in several states of completion, it’s just a matter of having time. Maybe for me, being not on the road as much, might afford some more time to finish some of those.”

Hansen revealed his plan to dial down touring when the Historic Farewell Tour was announced in fall of 2022, and while he’ll be out with Foreigner through the summer he’ll also be sitting out a fall run in Canada, with Geordie Brown from the Foreigner stage musical Juke Box Hero joining. In a statement Hansen explained that “some residency issues have forced me to limit appearances outside of the USA this year,” and he’s not offering specifics beyond that cryptic explanation.

“I made the statement because that’s the statement I wanted to make,” he says. “I know what it might sound like…I don’t feel like I want to go into details about my residency issues, but that’s the reason.” Hansen adds that, “It’s fine, and I’m happy doing everything that I can do. But, yes, there will come a point in time eventually where I won’t’ be doing this.” At the moment, he intends for that to be after the 2026 dates.

“Plans sometimes change, but those are the plans,” Hansen notes. “Listen, I never say never, but I’ve been in this business just about 50 years. I’ve had my time in here, and in the business, and the entertainment business is not the easiest business in the world. I really want to be able to live my life outside of being on the road nine months a year. I want to be able to do other things in my wife, with my family, while I still can. And I don’t want to be out there doing these songs at less than the standard that we’ve set, ever.”

Foreigner is also setting up an Australian tour in addition to next year’s 50th anniversary shows. A documentary project is in the works to commemorate the landmark. The Juke Box Hero musical, which has been previewed in Alberta and Toronto, is slated to go into production during 2026 as well.

Grupo Firme is set to kick off La Última Peda Tour on April 11 in Mexicali, following the cancellation of a performance in Mazatlán after a message on a banner with alleged death threats attributed to a drug cartel appeared in Tijuana. And the trek will proceed with reinforced security.
“People can come with confidence and have a good time,” Eduin Caz, the band’s frontman, said during a press conference Thursday afternoon at Estadio Caliente in Tijuana, where the second show of the tour is scheduled for April 12. “We have strengthened security for this tour in Mexico. The shows of Grupo Firme are meant to be enjoyed, and that’s how it will be.”

After a three-year absence from Mexico, La Última Peda Tour will take Grupo Firme to 23 stadiums across the country, including their eighth performance at Estadio GNP Seguros (formerly Foro Sol) on June 28. The tour will also mark their return to palenques, a more intimate type of show that allows for greater interaction with the audience.

“We need to relive that closeness with people that only these types of venues can provide,” said Jhonny Cazares, the group’s third voice. “Great artists we admire, like Alfredo Olivas and Julión Álvarez, do them. These [venues] are smaller, but they’re no less important. Plus, they’re part of our culture.”

Meanwhile, the state government and the Baja California Prosecutor’s Office are continuing their investigation into the threats against the band. The cancellation of the March 1 concert, which was part of the Mazatlán Carnival, was a result of the discovery of an alleged narcomanta and a human head in a box Feb. 25 in Tijuana — a fact confirmed to Billboard Español by the Baja California State Prosecutor’s Office. So far, four arrests have been made in the case, Excelsior TV reported citing the prosecutor’s office.

“We are grateful for the support of the authorities, who have been attentive from the very beginning,” Caz added. “We can’t share more details so as not to hinder the investigation.”

Coming up, Grupo Firme will be releasing a new album in May. In an interview with Billboard Español, the singer shared some details about the project, which was helmed by renowned songwriter and producer Joss Favela along with Abraham Luna, the group’s second voice and producer.

“The musical arrangements are different,” revealed Caz. “We’ve incorporated piano, electric guitar, and saxophone with banda and norteño. Our musical roots remain the same. The lyrics are in my style, mostly about heartbreak — those are the ones that come most naturally to me.”

He continued: “We recorded 17 songs but will keep only 12; they’re all very good. I don’t want any of them to go unnoticed or not get the attention they deserve.”

He also shared that it took them about a year to select and record the songs, with Caz contributing as a songwriter alongside Horacio Palencia, Nathan Galante, and Joss Favela — the same creator of “El Beneficio de la Duda,” which led Grupo Firme to spend two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Regional Mexican Airplay chart in mid-2024.

As for a potential collaboration with Don Omar — who recently expressed in press conference in Mexico City his desire to record with the band — Caz said: “There’s a great friendship. We haven’t been able to align schedules, first due to health issues for both of us. The song has already been chosen; it’s just a matter of timing. It would be amazing to make it happen.”

Mumford & Sons announced an extensive summer 2025 North American tour on Friday (March 28) in support of their just-released Rushmere album. To celebrate the folk rockers’ first LP in seven years, Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane will launch a summer tour of arenas and amphitheaters beginning on June 5 at the Hayden Homes Amphitheater in Bend, OR.
The run will feature stops in California, Indiana, Ohio, New York, Ontario, Montana, Colorado, Georgia and Alabama during the summer, before the group return in October for a second string of dates in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Quebec, Tennessee, Texas and Oklahoma, winding down at the CHI Health Center Arena in Omaha, NE on Oct. 26.

The new album — named for the spot in Wimbledon, U.K. where the band members first met — was produced in collaboration with Grammy-winner Dave Cobb and recorded in Nashville, Savannah, GA and Devon, England. The upcoming run of dates will expand on a series of intimate shows the group performed this month in Europe, Australia and the U.S., culminating with a gig on Wednesday (March 26) in Brooklyn.

Shakira continues breaking records in Mexico, where she will perform four additional shows as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour, including one more date at the capital’s GNP Seguros Stadium on August 29, OCESA announced on Wednesday (March 26).
“11 dates are not enough; the She-Wolf will return with four more dates in August and September,” the promoter said on social media.

With this, the Colombian superstar will reach the historic milestone of eight performances at the aforementioned venue (previously known as Foro Sol) over two separate phases of her tour. The feat surpasses shows by other international icons such as Paul McCartney, Metallica, Coldplay, and Taylor Swift.

Trending on Billboard

The other three tour dates in Mexico will be at Estadio Corregidora in Querétaro on September 2, Estadio Akron in Guadalajara on September 6, and Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla on September 12. Presale tickets for Banamex cardholders will take place on March 28, while general ticket sales will begin on March 29, added the promoter.

On Tuesday night (March 25), Shakira performed the fourth of seven concerts that make up her unprecedented residency at Estadio GNP Seguros, making her the first artist to sell out such a number of nights at the imposing venue, which will bring together a total of 455,000 attendees, according to OCESA.

Launched on February 11 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour is set to visit the Dominican Republic, Chile, and Colombia before arriving in the United States on May 13.

In an interview with Billboard Español in Mexico City, Shakira said that the tour has become something more intimate and profound. “These are more than just concerts. They are deep encounters where healing happens,” she said, adding that, with each performance, she feels “stronger and happier.”

Anthony Raneri says the person least surprised that his band Bayside is still around to celebrate its 25th anniversary may be the teenage version of himself, the one from Queens, NY, who knew he wanted to be a rock star.

“I was just so sure it was gonna happen,” Raneri, 42, tells Billboard. “You could ask me (at a different age) and I would be shocked there was a version of me still doing this. But at 15 or something, I was just so sure. I started this band so young that reality never factored in. I was a kid. I was a dreamer. Bills weren’t part of my life. It was all hopes and dreams at that point. I was too young to know better. And now fast forward…and it’s actually happened.”

Raneri and Bayside — which still includes first-album member Jack O’Shea on guitar, with Nick Ghanbarian on bass since 2004 and drummer Chris Guglielmo since 2006 — will be celebrating the group’s overall 25th anniversary this spring with The Errors Tour. The three-leg outing kicks off March 29 in Buffalo, NY, and all but one of its 23 stops will be two-night affairs with completely different setlists; the first show will feature songs from Bayside’s first four albums, and the second from the subsequent five titles, leading up to last year’s There Are Worse Things Than Being Alive.

Trending on Billboard

“We conceptualized this years ago, and we decided the 25th anniversary was the right time to put it into place,” Raneri explains. “Every tour we try to shake things up a little bit. It can’t just be the same show all the time. At this point in our career, with the back catalog we have, so many singles over the years, it’s hard to get songs into the setlist. That means track eight on our first record or track five on our fifth record, when do you ever get to that? So this way, if we can dedicate an hour and a half to just the first four records and then the next night to the next five, we get to those deeper cuts and songs that have been left out, which makes it more interesting for us and, I think, for the fans.”

Not surprisingly, Raneri says preparations for the tour have been “very intense” for the quartet. In addition to its own choices Bayside solicited fan requests via social media, which yielded surprises such as “Indiana,” a B-side from 2014’s Cult that also appeared as a bonus track on a deluxe edition of the album.

“We’ve bought into the concept,” Raneri says. “The cool thing about our band, and something we’re so insanely lucky with, is that we can pull something like this off. There’s a lot of bands that exist that have as many records as we do that couldn’t dedicate nights of a tour to newer albums. But we’re lucky that people like and buy and still enjoy our new albums. Our anniversary doesn’t mean we have to go out and just play old records.”

Bayside has, of course, scored some must-play hits from its nine albums as well as EPs, including “Devotion and Desire” from its self-titled 2005 set and “Sick, Sick, Sick,” a top 40 Alternative Airplay chart hit from 2010’s Killing Time. “The second night might not have ‘Devotion and Desire,’” Raneri notes, “but ‘Sick, Sick, Sick,’ it’s crazy to think that’s in the second half of our career, and ‘Already Gone’ and ‘Go To Hell.’ I think there’s plenty to keep people happy either night, if you don’t come for both.”

Raneri feels he and his bandmates have become “more proficient” players during the intervening years, while diving deep into the catalog has given him a perspective on why Bayside has been able to maintain a loyal following for all this time.

“I just think there is an honesty in what bands from our world have always done that’s different than other genres,” he explains. “What we do, it’s not image stuff. With other genres, there’s a lot of things that are of their time. You look at A Flock of Seagulls or something like that, and it’s just so ’80s; they look like the time, they sound like the time, the lyrics are of the time. Same thing with hair metal: [Cinderella’s] ‘Hot and Bothered’ is a bad-ass song when you’re in high school, but when you’re 40 or 50 does it still connect like that? Do you still wear your hair like that? Do you still dress like that? Of course not. I think our scene, it’s earnest as a pillar of its identity. The emotions are more timeless and not as much about the moment the (songs) were made in.”

Raneri and company plan on adding to Bayside’s catalog soon. The group is concentrating on The Errors Tour for the time being, but the frontman promises that “the day after our big, final 25th anniversary show on Long Island (Sept. 26), I’m writing the new record, and that will be our main focus. All of next year we’ll be working on a new record.

“I always start with finding influences,” Raneri explains, “so I’m just listening to a lot of music, and I’m writing down ideas. When I hear a song that I think would be a cool inspiration for something, I write it down. I have notepads around my house with my ideas, notes apps in my phone, playlists that I’ve made of songs I want to take inspiration from for the next record. I’m not at a stage where I know what that inspiration turns into, but I’m shaping. It’s almost like I’m making this very large Pinterest board in my head, and then when it comes time to actually put pen to paper, I’ll have that board to reference.”

For the first time during her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, Shakira shared the stage with special guests. On Tuesday (March 25), during her fourth night at the iconic GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City, the Colombian superstar was joined by Grupo Frontera for a live performance of “(Entre Paréntesis),” a song from her 2024 album that gives its name to the tour.
“I really wanted to give you all a surprise,” Shakira told Billboard Español in an interview following the show. “Every day, I strive to give you something more because the Mexican audience has been so loyal, so loving, and has lifted me up every time I needed it. I wanted to surprise you with something that would fill your hearts. Having them on stage today was a true privilege.”

“(Entre Paréntesis)” joins “Ciega, Sordomuda” and “El Jefe” as songs Shakira has added to her extensive repertoire as a heartfelt tribute to Mexico, where she continues her historic seven-night residency at the GNP Seguros Stadium (formerly known as Foro Sol), which will conclude on Sunday (March 30). This milestone makes her the first female artist to perform this many shows at the venue, previously filled by artists like Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, Coldplay and Metallica. In total, the residency will gather 455,000 attendees, according to promoter OCESA.

But Grupo Frontera wasn’t the only guest of the night: Lili Melgar, nanny to Shakira’s sons Milan and Sasha, made a surprise appearance while the singer performed “El Jefe,” her collaboration with Fuerza Regida, in which Melgar is immortalized in one of the final verses. “Lili Melgar, this song is for you, for not being paid your severance,” Shakira shouted to the thunderous roar of her Mexican pack, undeterred by the rain during their reunion with the She Wolf.

Still emotional from the warm reception from her Mexico audience, the 48-year-old star revealed that there will be more surprises for the U.S. leg of the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran trek, which kicks off May 13 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“For the first part of the tour, I wanted the show to stay as it was, for the fans to experience the songs just as I conceived them,” she told Billboard Español. “But now I’ll be incorporating some surprises and special guests that you’ll see in the United States. It will be very exciting to share the stage with friends and colleagues.”

One year after the release of Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran — the Grammy-winning album that marked her triumphant first album in seven years — Shakira reflected on what this project has meant to her. The set reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart and No. 13 on the all-genre Billboard 200. Last Friday (March 21), the Colombian singer premiered the video for “Última,” her latest single from the album, filmed in the New York City subway and directed by close friend and photographer Jaume de Laiguana.

“I believe this has been a healing process for me and for many people — not just women, men too. I think together we’ve learned that you grow from setbacks, and that together we heal when we support each other,” she said. “That’s what the audience has done for me. They’ve given me strength when I felt weak, and I know I’ve done the same for them.”

On her historic current stadium tour — which began on Feb. 11 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and will still visit the Dominican Republic, Chile and Colombia before arriving in the U.S.— Shakira says that this series of shows has become something deeper and more intimate.

“These are more than just concerts. They’re very profound gatherings where healing happens,” she stated. “With each show, I feel stronger and happier.”

Lady Gaga announced the dates for her anticipated summer-fall 2025 Mayhem Ball tour in support of her new Mayhem album on Wednesday morning (March 26). “This is my first arena tour since 2018,” said Gaga in a statement. “There’s something electric about a stadium, and I love every moment of those shows. But with The MAYHEM Ball, I wanted to create a different kind of experience — something more intimate — closer, more connected — that lends itself to the live theatrical art I love to create.”

After a run of previously announced shows in April and May, Gaga’s first North American and European tour since her 2022 Chromatica Ball tour will open in the U.S. with a double-down in Las Vegas on July 16 and 18, two shows in Seattle, three nights at Madison Square Garden in New York and two-night runs in Miami, Toronto and Chicago. She will then play a run of arena dates across Europe from Sept. 29 through Nov. 20.

Garbage announced the dates for their first U.S. tour in nearly a decade on Tuesday (March 25). The 31-city Happy Endings run is slated to kick off on Sept. 3 at the Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando and hit Atlanta, Nashville, Cleveland, Detroit, Philadelphia, Boston, Brooklyn, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Chicago, Minneapolis, Dallas, Denver, Seattle, Vancouver and San Francisco before winding down on Nov. 2 at the Van Burn in Phoenix.
The fall tour will follow the upcoming release of the band’s eighth studio album, Let All That We Imagine Be the Light, which will drop on May 30. Tickets for the tour will go on sale on April 4 here. Singer Shirley Manson said in a statement last month that the follow-up to 2021’s No Gods No Masters will flip that LP’s rage into a more optimistic outlook.

“Our last album was extremely forthright. Born out of frustration and outrage – it had a kind of scorched earth, pissed off quality to it,” Manson said. “With this new record however, I felt a compulsion to reach for a different kind of energy. A more constructive one. I had this vision of us coming up out of the underground with searchlights as we moved towards the future.”

She added, “Searching for life, searching for love, searching for all the good things in the world that seem so thin on the ground right now. That was the over-riding idea during the making of this record for me – that when things feel dark, it’s best to try to seek out that which is light, that which feels loving and good.”

The band that also features original members producer/drummer Butch Vig and guitarist/keyboardists Duke Erikson and Steve Marker recently wrapped a South American tour and have a pair of dates in Mexico in early April. They were forced to cancel the rest of their 2024 dates in August after Manson required “surgery and rehabilitation” for an undisclosed injury she suffered on tour in Europe earlier in the year.

The newest dates are a capper to the tour that began in October 2023 and played 76 sold-out shows in North America, Europe, the U.K., Latin America, Australia and New Zealand, grossing more than $209 million on its way to becoming the highest-grossing rap tour ever.

Earlier this week, La Flame officially announced that the Cactus Jack label compilation, JACKBOYS 2, is “on the way.” The rapper hopped on the mic during Chase B’s DJ set at LIV nightclub in Miami on Monday (March 24) to tease the project. “JACKBOYS 2 on the way, man. Let that motherf—–r ride, ya dig,” he said. “New Sheck Wes what the f–k is we doing?” Scott also performed a handful of records, including ASTROWORLD‘s “NO BYSTANDERS.”

At press time it was unclear when the label compilation is set to drop, though fans suspect it might coincide with Scott’s return to Coachella in April, where he’s promised to “redesign the desert” during his headlining set.

Which is why, after playing malls and anywhere else they could find an audience back in their early days, Nick, Joe and Kevin will kick-off their upcoming tour at the venue they always dreamed of playing back in the day: MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. on August 10.

In an Instagram video after the GMA stop, Nick promised that the rest of the dates for the tour will be revealed on Sunday (March 23) at JONASCON in New Jersey, which will take place at the sprawling American Dream Mall just across the street from MetLife.

The brothers are also celebrating today thanks to the release of their upbeat new pop single, “Love Me To Heaven,” on which they sing “Could give me everything, but it ain’t enough / You can’t put a price on the human touch / I could be down, but you love me to heaven / Turns out the Northern Lights don’t impress me much / Guess I’m just a fool for the human touch / I could be down, but you love me to Heaven.”

In addition to rolling out the tour dates, JONASCON will be an extravaganza of all things JoBro. It will feature live performances, DJ sets, Q&A panels, fan activations, pop-up surprises, retail takeovers, a Jonas trading post, trivia, games, immersive experiences, an interactive art installation, keynote event, karaoke, a Camp Rock bar, special guests, mini golf and exclusive merch. “From their early beginnings to global pop icons, JONASCON will honor the band’s incredible journey while also showing their appreciation to the fans who have been with them from the beginning,” a statement promised.
