Have you even really lived until you’ve gotten a lap dance from Madonna? Just ask Amy Schumer.
In a new interview with The Associated Press, the comedian hilariously recounts getting onstage with the Queen of Pop during her ongoing Celebration Tour.

“I did not know I was going up on stage, that is the truth,” she told the interviewer and Life & Beth co-star Michael Cera. “An hour before the show, I was backstage hanging with some of her team and a choreographer approached me and… I thought it was a joke! And then I realized, ‘Oh, I’m getting onstage with her and I’m getting a lap dance.’”

Lap dances — and similar sensual choreography — are a key element of Madonna’s latest tour, as are onstage celebrity appearances. Before Schumer, the Queen of Pop trotted out stars such as Diplo, Donatella Versace and FKA twigs during the ballroom segment of the show. Madonna invited Schumer onstage during her show at Madison Square Garden in New York on Jan. 23. The two stars judged Madge’s backup dancers as they strutted to “Vogue”; eventually, the strutting turned into grinding as Madonna wrapped her legs around one dancer while Schumer’s face was temporarily frozen in shock.

Amused and intrigued by Schumer’s story, Cera quipped, “You needed a choreographer for that?” In response, Schumer replied, “They just want to make sure that, first of all, there’s consent. And also that you’re not gonna, like, freak out because you’re onstage at The Garden, you know?”

Of course, this isn’t Madonna’s time in lap-dance territory — who can forget her sultry shimmy for Maluma back in 2022? — but Amy Schumer can now join her in that arena. “Two times, not a big deal!” she teased. “But it was amazing, and God I just love her so much. Everybody needs to see this show.”

The Celebration Tour — which has hit a steady pace after a particularly rocky start that saw the production postponed due to the “Hung Up” singer’s hospitalization — is set to continue through the next two months, stopping in major cities such as Las Vegas (March 1-2), Los Angeles (March 4-11) and Houston (March 28-29) before concluding with five shows at Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City (April 20-26).

It was a rollercoaster of a night on Friday (Feb. 23) for Taylor Swift as the singer kicked off her four-show stand at Sydney, Australia’s Accor Stadium in front of 81,000 soggy, determined Swifties. Before the show could kick off, the stadium floor and lower bowl were evacuated due to storms — and a nearby lightning strike — which meant that opening act Sabrina Carpenter‘s set was cancelled in order to get Swift on stage in time.
“Please note, due to weather, show start time has been delayed. Stay undercover until further notice and follow venue screens and staff instructions. Stay safe and remember to be kind to those around you,” the venue announced on X in describing the delay.

Trending on Billboard

But, according to the Sydney Herald, the show did go on, with Swift taking the stage just before 8 p.m. local, and yes, boyfriend Travis Kelce was in the house, accompanied by Swift’s dad, Scott Swift. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end — wearing an electric blue, wildly patterned matching shorts and t-shirt combo –made his way to his seats accompanied by the rabid screams and shouts from Swifties on the stadium floor. Fans also got excited to see Rita Ora and Katy Perry (as well as Rita’s husband director Taika Waititi and beloved Australian director Baz Luhrmann) sharing a private box and exchanging friendship bracelets with admirers; Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was also in the house.

On to the show, though. According to the Herald, Swift immediately nodded to the resiliency of her audience, telling them, “We have a little bit of a weather situation, a little bit of rain but I have never known an Aussie crowd that let anything get in the way!” Later, in what has become a signature moment in the set, Swift picked a nine-year-old named Scarlett — who was diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer in October — as the recipient of her black hat during “22.”

The show progressed as usual after the storm delay, and the night’s first surprise song was “How You Get the Girl” from 2014’s smash 1989 album. “I kind of pick the song for each individual crowd and hope I get it right,” Swift told the audience of the song she first played during the stripped-down portion of the night in Atlanta last April.

Swift then brought out Carpenter to help her on a mash-up of Fearless‘ “White Horse” and Evermore‘s “Coney Island,” with Taylor telling the crowd that Carpenter “heroically sacrificed her show, which I think is a crime against Sydney.” The singer also took a moment during the surprise piano acoustic section to shout out her new favorite destination: the Sydney Zoo, which she visited the day before with Kelce. “We really love the Sydney Zoo – we’ve been 100 per cent of our days off here,” Swift said of her back-to-back visits. “I don’t think you guys don’t understand how cool kangaroos really are. They are so cool, so strong, so bouncy.”

Swift’s Accor stand will continue with shows on Saturday (June 24), Sunday (June 25) and Monday (June 26) before moving on to Singapore on March 2.

Kings of Leon stormed back after several years of silence on Thursday (Feb. 22) with the raucous single “Mustang.” The song is the first taste of the sibling group’s upcoming ninth studio album, Can We Please Have Fun (May 10), their first effort on new label Capitol Records and first full-length album since 2021’s When You See Yourself.

According to a statement announcing the 12-song album, Can We Please Have Fun is “a document of one of this era’s great rock & roll bands cutting loose, trying new things, and, yes, having some fun.” The collection was recorded at Nashville’s Dark Horse studio and produced by Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles, Florence + the Machine). It’s described as a return to the group’s “gritty origins while simultaneously finding new gears. It’s the sound of a band unified in vision and purpose, freed from any expectations, and the album the band says they’ve always wanted to make.”

The driving “Mustang” is a classic KOL burner, with singer Caleb Followill promising that love is all around over an insistent, thrumming bass line as he howls, “There’s a mustang in the city/ And it’s calling me out/ Are you a mustang or a kitty?/ What are you all about?” while the song slowly builds to one of the band’s signature radio-ready, shout-along choruses.

Trending on Billboard

The Brook Linder-directed video for “Mustang” finds the band jamming out on rooftops and bridges amid a series of random images of a Roomba pulling a bunch of deflated balloons, an urban LARPing battle, EMTs attending to a patient on a city street and men wearing animal masks running through a park with mysterious satchels.

Caleb Followill said in a statement that the sessions for CWPHF were “the most enjoyable record I’ve ever been a part of,” with drummer Nathan Followill adding, “It’s like we allowed ourselves to be musically vulnerable. I love it when a rock band is not embarrassed to admit that every song doesn’t have to be on 11.”

KOL also announced the dates for their upcoming summer/fall Live Nation-produced 26-date North American tour, which will kick off on August 14 at the Moody Center in Austin, TX and keep them on the road through an Oct. 5 gig at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, CT.

The band cancelled the remaining four dates of their U.S. tour in support of When You See Yourself in Sept. 2021 following the death of their mother, Betty Ann; KOL is comprised of brothers Caleb, Nathan and bassist Jared Followill and cousin guitarist Matthew Followill.

Foreigner founder Mick Jones’ ongoing absence from the band’s live concerts since 2022 has been widely noticed and commented on by fans. He’s now revealing that it is Parkinson’s disease that has sidelined him from being on stage with the group, which is in the midst of a farewell tour.

“Fans will have become very aware that for some time now, I have not been performing onstage with the band. Several years ago, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I want everyone to know that I am doing alright,” Jones said in a statement released on Wednesday (Feb. 21). “However, I’ve always liked to be at my best when performing onstage, and sadly, at present, I find that a bit difficult. I am still very much involved in the background with Foreigner and remain a presence. Parkinson’s is a daily struggle; the important thing is to persevere and remind myself of the wonderful career I’ve had in music. I thank all the fans who have supported Foreigner throughout the years and continue to attend our concerts — I want you to know I appreciate your support; it always means so very much to me, but especially so at this point in my life.”

The English-born Jones, 79, formed Foreigner during 1976 in New York, shortly after playing in the Leslie West Band. He put together a band of British and American musicians, including Ian McDonald of King Crimson fame and Lou Gramm from the band Black Sheep, and hit it out of the box with a self-titled debut in 1977, which reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200, was certified five-times platinum and launched the enduring hits “Feels Like the First Time” and “Cold as Ice.” In its wake Foreigner has released eight more studio albums and sold more than 80 million records worldwide, spawning additional hits such as “Hot Blooded,” “Urgent,” “Juke Box Hero” and “I Want to Know What Love Is” (the lattermost a Billboard Hot 100 topper).

Trending on Billboard

Earlier this month the group received its first-ever nomination for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. After the first week of fan voting, Foreigner ranked third, behind Ozzy Osbourne and Peter Frampton, with well over 100,000 votes.

During his last years of touring with the band Jones would come on for a few songs each night, a bit like a special guest at the shows. Foreigner is currently led by bassist Jeff Pilson, who’s been with the band since 2004, and frontman Kelly Hansen, who joined the following year.

In a previous interview, Billboard asked Jones — who had heart surgery during 2012 and was playing only a few songs each night with the band during the late 2010s — about the prospect of Foreigner continuing without him on board. “That’s a tough one,” he said, adding that, “I look at it as a team. If you think about…any kind of sports teams, they change players all the time. The thought of my music carrying on in that way has some appeal to me.”

Pilson, meanwhile, told Billboard last year that Jones still makes “the final decision” on anything related to the band — including checking off on the farewell tour that began last summer. “I would say it was difficult for him because (Foreigner) is his baby,” the bassist noted. “This is his lifetime achievement. It’s difficult, but I know he endorses the decision.” The tour is slated to finish in North America this summer; dates have been announced through Aug. 28, including a summer run with Styx and John Waite. Band manager Phil Carson says some international dates might take the tour into 2025, however.

There may also be some new Foreigner music in the offing — the band’s first since 2009’s Can’t Slow Down album, save for “The Flame Still Burns” from the 2017 compilation 40. “It is very much in the realm of possibility,” Pilson said last year. “We do have some tracks floating around unfinished, and they’re unfinished for a reason; we haven’t figured out what to do just yet. But they’re good songs, so at some point I’m really hoping they come out.”

Hansen added that Jones has been writing with longtime collaborator Marti Frederiksen. “There’s a whole bunch of stuff in different stages of completion,” he said. “We’ve got stuff going back a long time, so I think that might be something that’s going to happen.”

Jennifer Lopez is hitting the road this summer for her This Is Me Now… The Tour. On Thursday morning (Feb. 15), the singer announced the 30+ city tour in support of her new album, This Is Me… Now, which is due out on Friday (Feb. 16).
The North American outing is slated to kick off on June 26 with a show at the Kia Center in Orlando, before criss-crossing the nation for shows in Miami, San Antonio, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Denver, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Boston and Philadelphia, winding down with an August 31 gig at the Toyota Center in Houston.

The Live Nation-produced tour is Lopez’s first tour in five years and it will support both the album and the accompanying Amazon Original short film, This Is Me Now: A Love Story, also out on Friday. Tickets for the tour will be available starting with a JLo fan club presale beginning Feb. 20 at 9 a.m. local time, with Citi and Verizon presales beginning at 10 a.m. local time on Feb 20 through Feb. 22 at 10 p.m. local time; click here for more information on Citi presale and here for Verizon Up details. The general onsale will begin on Feb. 23 at 10 a.m local time here.

Trending on Billboard

In an interview this week, Lopez said her first studio LP since 2014’s A.K.A. is “the best album that I’ve ever made… The most honest and true – it took a long time for me as a musical artist to get there. I’m really happy and proud of this in a way that I don’t think I ever have been before.”

Lopez’s ninth album is a sequel of sorts to her 2002 This Is Me… Then collection, which she released when she was first dating Ben Affleck, to whom she is now married. “They’ve followed me on that journey and watched me make mistakes and go in and out of relationships and wondered what was going on,” JLo said about her fans.

Lopez and Affleck split in 2004, then reunited in 2021 and tied the knot in a surprise Las Vegas wedding in July 2022 – 20 years after the original album’s release. The new album also features a sequel to a track from the first This Is Me album, “Dear Ben Pt. II,” plus the previously released dance-y single “Can’t Get Enough.”

After 55 years since their formation, the icons of norteño music maintain a solid, current career, releasing new music and touring constantly throughout the U.S., Mexico, Central and South America. Their current tour, Siempre Contigo, began on February 2 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California and will keep them busy for most of 2024. It is something they do with the best attitude towards their fans.

“Love must always be present in everything you do,” says Jorge Hernández, frontman of Los Tigres. “The most important thing is to be honest with your audience.”

Trending on Billboard

With hits including “La Puerta Negra,” “Contrabando y Traición,” “Jefes de Jefes,” the Billboard Hot Latin Songs No. 1s “El Acaudalado Mojado” and “El Circo,” and many others, Los Tigres del Norte — who have seen many musical trends come and go over the years — are pioneers of traditional corridos, with the authority that time, accolades and fans have conferred on them.

In an interview with Billboard Español, Hernández spoke about the key to their longevity, his opinion on the new artists who are globalizing música mexicana, their return to Spain and upcoming projects.

Why did it take you so long to return to Spain?

In 2001 we started going to Spain every year and a half, or every other year. Then we were going to release an album and go there before the pandemic, but in the end it couldn’t be scheduled. Now that everything has been falling into place, promoters from Europe called us and the tour was finalized. It begins on April 4 in Madrid and ends on the 14th in London.

Will you have musical guests at the concerts in Spain?

We want to invite several female artists to sing with us. We’ll tell you who they are soon.

At a crucial time for regional Mexican music, it is important to perform in as many places as possible.

That’s right. The work that other colleagues have done has great validity for us and we all have to take advantage and be present so that our music takes this boom full force for which we have fought so hard for a long time.

In fact, we plan to record several videos of our upcoming singles there.

You travel thousands of miles every year to entertain your fans in different countries. How do you prepare physically and mentally to live constantly on the road?

There is always a discipline. Above all, taking care of your health, sleeping the necessary hours, taking care of your body, taking care of how you live. Always go on stage consciously to have the respect of the audience. You must do this from the beginning of your career for it to last. You must be prepared so that vices don’t win over you. All of this is part of taking care that your path is as clean as possible.

The music of Los Tigres del Norte is already part of the Mexican culture. What do you think of the new trends?

Trends will always exist because they are part of the growth of music. I give as an example a tree that has many branches: Norteño music is the base and there are musical currents that come and go over time, different styles, but in the end everything goes back to normal because the essence or base is solid. Young people look for what gives them joy, music to have fun, and there are artists for everyone.

There are young artists who prefer traditional norteño music. Any in particular that you like?

They all deserve our love and respect. I couldn’t name any single name. For me, music is all of us who make up this union. We all work with the same goal: To be relevant.

And what has been the key for Los Tigres del Norte to remain relevant?

The most important thing is persistence. Love must always be present in everything you do, you must be in love with your work. The honesty with which you do your work. One of the main things to stay relevant is to finalize your plans, not leave them halfway. But the most important thing is to be honest with your audience.

You’ve been to some South American countries, but there are many that are still waiting for you.

We have constantly gone to Colombia, to Bolivia, we were recently in Chile. Now we are going to take the tour to Argentina, Peru, Paraguay, which are the countries we were missing.

Will there be any collaborations with other artists this year?

Yes, there will be collaborations. Our label, Fonovisa Records/Universal Music, has some options for us that we will be reviewing. We will have several surprises this year.

AC/DC are gearing up for their first European tour in eight years. The 21-show swing in 10 countries is slated to kick off with the first of two dates at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany on May 17, followed by shows in Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Switzerland before hitting London’s Wembley Stadium for a pair of shows (July 3, 7), Germany, Slovakia and Paris and then winding down with a gig at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland on August 17.

Tickets for tour will go on sale to the general public on Friday (Feb. 16) between 9-10 a.m. local time; click here for more ticketing information.

The European swing follows AC/DC’s long-awaited return to the stage last year at the all-star hard rock Power Trip festival in Indio, California. The band began teasing their 2024 return on socials last week, posting images of a lightning bolt and a countdown cued to a snippet of “Are You Ready” from 1990’s The Razors Edge.

Power Up marked the return of singer Johnson, who had stepped aside while touring in 2016 due to hearing-loss issues, with Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses filling in for 22 shows; the tour also saw the band reunited with drummer Phil Rudd after a stint in rehab. The band did not tour in support of Power Up after the seven-leg, 17-month-long stadium outing in support of Rock or Bust.

According to a statement, the previously announced 30 shows sold more than 350,000 tickets, with 21 sold out shows on the roster so far and second shows added in Los Angeles, Seattle, Austin, Chicago, New York, Boston, San Jose and Las Vegas.

After several years off the musical radar, Timberlake has stormed back over the past two weeks with underplay shows in his hometown of Memphis and another in New York last week, as well as a musical guest spot on Saturday Night Live and a visit to The Tonight Show. So far, Timberlake has released the yearning single “Selfish” from his upcoming sixth studio album, Everything I Thought It Was (out May 15), as well as previewing the new gospel-tinged song “Sanctified” with Tobe Nwigwe on SNL.

Tickets for the newly announced North American dates will be available via Verizon and Citi presales beginning today through Thursday (Feb. 8), with a general onsale kicking off Friday (Feb. 9) at 10 a.m. local time here.
