The Masked Singer pulled out the big hitters on Wednesday night (Nov. 9), when two legitimate heavyweights were sent packing.
On “Hall of Fame Night,” Fox’s quirky hit pulled no punches when former heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman and funk legend George Clinton were knocked out of the competition.
After performing The Temptations’ “Get Ready,” the Venus Flytrap accumulated the least votes and was giving his marching orders. The mask came off, revealing Muhammad Ali’s “Rumble in the Jungle opponent.” Foreman, the two-time world heavyweight champion and grill king.

He wasn’t the only champ to go home. Gopher got the chop, after facing off with The Bride in a battle royale, in which the contestants took turns singing Smashmouth’s “All-Star.”
Under the mask was the great George Clinton of Parliament-Funkadelic.
“Man it’s hot as hell in this, but I’m cool y’all,” explained Clinton, clearly relieved that the mask was off. And why did the funkster get the helmet on in this first place? “You’re always having too much fun on here,” he said. “I had to get some.”
They join the likes of Daymond John (Fortune Teller), the “Brady boys” Mike Lookinland, Barry Williams and Christopher Knight (Mummies), Montell Jordan (Panther), Jeff Dunham (Pi-Rat), Chris Kirkpatrick (Hummingbird), Eric Idle (Hedgehog) and William Shatner (Knight) as contestants revealed so far in the 2022 series.
TMS season 8 rings in the changes, with several big tweaks to its format.
For the first time, each episode features a completely new round of masked celebs with only one contestant moving forward by the end of the hour. Plus, the audience votes in-studio for their favorite performance of the night, and the singer with the lowest tally will then unmask in the middle of the show before taking his or her place in the new Masked Singer VIP section to watch the rest of the episode.
The Masked Singer is slowly whittling down its season eight contestants, and with the arrival of a ’90s-themed episode on Sunday night (Nov. 6), there were two contestants whose identities were revealed. Both Milkshake and Walrus were sent packing, but not before sharing who they are and giving a final exit interview before leaving the show.
Walrus was the first contestant to leave The Masked Singer after failing to secure enough votes to stay on the singing competition. The unmasking revealed that the Walrus was none other than Joey Lawrence, star of ’90s sitcom Blossom and of “Can’t Fix My Love” fame. The track appeared on the actor’s self-titled debut album that was released in 1993, and it later peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Speaking of his experience on the show, Lawrence said, “It’s not about winning. I thought it would be fun for my girls to see at some point. I have two beautiful daughters, and being anonymous and having to look like Daft Punk walking around the set is always fun.”
The actor and singer also shared that being on The Masked Singer is making him consider coming back to music. “I haven’t released a full record in about 20 years, but music brings back this memory of why this whole journey began for me,” he added. “I am seriously thinking about dedicating a lot more of my time to music. Gotta use the stuff god gave you, so maybe I’ll get back into it.”
Milkshake was the second contestant to leave The Masked Singer night after a sing-off against the Lambs to “What Is Love,” by Haddaway. Le’Veon Bell, an NFL running back and free agent, was revealed to be behind the mask. Though Bell is an athlete, in 2017 he dabbled in music with songs uploaded to SoundCloud and later released an album in 2019 titled Life’s a Gamble.
“I did The Masked Singer because I watch it a lot and my friends were on it, and it’s a good opportunity to showcase my talent musically. A lot of people look at me on the field or boxing. I think this was a good opportunity on the show, I could entertain and people didn’t even know it was me. I think that kinda opened up people’s eyes a little bit,” he said in his exit interview. “Watching them try to guess who I was, that was entertaining too. It was ranging from all types of artists and athletes: T.I. got brought up, LL Cool J, Ice Cube. The praise from the judges, I appreciate it and I’m glad I went up there performing what I did.”

Gloria Gaynor had an enduring hit with the disco anthem “I Will Survive.” The two-time Grammy Award winner won’t survive in The Masked Singer competition any longer, after she was let go Wednesday (Oct. 19) in another double unmasking.

Fox’s quirky hit show slid back onto our TV sets after skipping last week when a rain delay caused the baseball playoffs to spill over.
There were thrills and spills aplenty this time, as the contestants celebrated “Andrew Lloyd Webber Night.” The British king of musicals was on hand to watch all the action, which saw Maize and Mermaid unmasked.
After performing “Heaven On Their Minds,” Maize accumulated the fewest number of votes and was sent packing. He lifted his helmet to reveal Mario Cantone, the actor, comedian and singer.
Mermaid performed “Any Dream Will Do,” then entered into a battle with “Robo Girl” on “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” from Evita.
One had to go, and Mermaid was sunk.
Under the mask was singing star Gaynor, whose signature song “I Will Survive” logged three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1979.
“You are one of the greatest singers of our generation,” Lloyd Webber told the 79-year-old New Jersey native after the big reveal.
And why did Gaynor come on board? “I’ve been watching it, it just looked like so much fun,” she explained. “I said, ‘yeah, I gotta do this.’”
Earlier, Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger returned to Cats with a performance of “Memory.” Scherzinger made the song her own when she joined the cast for the 2014 West End revival of Cats, in which she played Grizabella and received a nomination for the Laurence Olivier Award for best actress in a supporting role.
Gaynor and Cantone join Daymond John (Fortune Teller) and the “Brady boys” Mike Lookinland, Barry Williams and Christopher Knight (Mummies), Montell Jordan (Panther), Jeff Dunham (Pi-Rat), Chris Kirkpatrick (Hummingbird), Eric Idle (Hedgehog) and William Shatner (Knight) as the celebrities eliminated from the current season of The Masked Singer.
