Super Bowl LVIII will take place in just under two weeks after the conclusion of the AFC and NFC championship games this weekend. The San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs will face off against one another for Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, but some fans online are suggesting this was a matchup planned by the NFL all along.
During the AFC championship, the Chiefs, with stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, were visiting the Baltimore Ravens’ home field where it was thought that NFL MVP candidate Lamar Jackson would lead his team to victory. With a series of penalties, miscues, and the like, the Chiefs’ defense proved to be too much and their experience shined through.
For the NFC championship, the Detroit Lions appeared to be running away with the whole thing in the first half as Jared Goff shredded the 49ers’ secondary. However, it all came apart in the second half as Brock Purdy and the rest of the offense began to heat up with the Lions unable to answer the bell.
For many, this wasn’t the desired outcome as the Lions had a feel-good story about a franchise that has long been frozen out of competing for a Super Bowl title, while the Ravens, behind the talents of Jackson, hoped to bring the title home for Charm City once more.
As it stands, some fans online are suggesting that the 49ers-Chiefs lineup is a desired outcome ratings-wise, pointing to the Chiefs’ Kelce and the hype around his relationship with Taylor Swift as a marketing boost while the 49ers are one of the marquee teams in the league with Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, and Christian McCaffrey leading the offense. We’ve got those reactions below.

“You gotta fight for your right to party!” Kelce shouted Sunday night (Jan. 28). The Chiefs had just defeated the Baltimore Ravens 17-10.
“Believe it, baby, we going to Las Vegas, Nevada!” Kelce announced. “Gonna get us another one!”
Swift looked on, laughing at Kelce’s Beastie Boys reference and grinning. She appeared emotional on the M&T Stadium field.
Swift and Kelce kissed on the field in celebration of the Chiefs’ triumph.
The singer stood by Travis’ side after the game, but stepped away to give him a moment alone with his brother, Jason.
“Goddamn, that was fun to watch,” Jason said as he hugged Travis, to which Travis jokingly replied, “You keep your shirt on this time, or what?” Last weekend, the Philadelphia Eagles center went viral for taking off his shirt, guzzling beer, passionately cheering on his brother and jumping out of a suite into the stands.

Swift had friends Cara Delevingne and Keleigh Teller nearby during the game Sunday night. She was shown on camera cheering when Kelce scored a touchdown.
The pop star kicks off an international leg of her Eras Tour on Feb. 7, beginning with four concerts in Japan. Will Swift attend the Super Bowl on Feb. 11?
Though she has a concert the night before in Tokyo, it’s possible, thanks to the difference in time zones — but her presence at the big game hasn’t been confirmed.
See Swift watching Kelce’s speech below.
Here’s a math problem for you: If the Super Bowl, which drew 113 million viewers last year, combines with Taylor Swift, who sold roughly 3.3 million tickets to her Eras Tour last year and over 6 million albums and whose recordings streamed on-demand 16.5 billion times in the U.S., according to Luminate, how many fans will tune in to the big game?

Not even statisticians know, but the scenario could play out Feb. 11 if Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs win their playoff game this weekend.
Just about everything Swift goes near experiences a consumption boost, from donuts in Kansas City to hotels in Philadelphia. Her televised omnipresence at Chiefs games led to a 400% sales hike in Fanatics’ Kelce jerseys on a single day and an additional 2 million female viewers for Sunday Night Football in early October, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
So far, the NFL has proceeded cautiously with this new demographic, attempting to welcome Swifties without alienating football diehards with over-coverage. Rick Porter, who covers TV and ratings for THR, expects that strategy to continue for the big game. “They’ll probably try to keep walking that line,” he says, “and not make it the Taylor Swift Bowl.”
Should Kelce and the Chiefs (and Swift) make it to the Super Bowl, Porter predicts the hype-filled run-up week to spotlight their romance, as opposed to more conventional football drama about tight-end positioning, defensive formations or, say, Eminem. “Everything about Super Bowl week is over the top, so I’m sure on media day that everybody will get bombarded with questions about it,” he says. “It’s the line they have to walk between welcoming more people into the tent but not turning off any of the people who were there to watch and talk about the game.”
Could Super Bowl viewership increase? A Taylor Swift Effect, Porter says, could potentially bump the numbers from 115 million to 130 million — “or something ridiculous like that.” He adds, “That would be a pretty big shock, if something jumped that much from something that was already this big.” Still, unprecedented numbers are Swift’s specialty: Eras grossed more than $900 million last year, according to Billboard estimates, and is on its way to earn more than any tour ever.

Addison Rae is entering her Nerds era as she takes on the role of dance coach in a new teaser leading up to the candy brand’s debut Super Bowl commercial.
The NFL Playoffs kicked off Jan. 20, and as the teams battle it out to see who heads to the Super Bowl 2024, Nerds is prepping for their first commercial appearance at the Big Game. To help them put on a memorable performance, the “2 Die 4” singer was tapped to teach a mystery guest some choreography to Irene Cara‘s iconic “What a Feeling,” which was a dream for Rae, whose musical influences include pop legends Prince, Katy Perry, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears and Madonna.

“I am such a big fan of the song, and growing up a dancer, it’s just a song you always hear and love and reference,” Rae says in an interview with Billboard. “I got to have the honor of coaching the lead star to do something to this amazing song. [It’s a] huge dream.”

Both Rae and her friend and choreographer Marissa Heart teamed up to create an exciting piece of choreography that also allowed her to tap into a bit of childhood nostalgia.
“We worked together on creating something fun and true to dance at its core, and it just made it super fun to be with someone that I know and love on set, and also be doing something that I love,” she says. “I literally ate so many Nerds on set. I feel like my childhood self is coming to life and has unlimited access to sweets.”
Within the teaser, you can see the TikTok star show off her dancing skills while providing motivation and critique to the unknown star of the upcoming commercial. Her training snack of choice? Nerds Gummy Clusters, which also is how she would describe her 2024 era.
“Honestly, I’m in my Nerds Gummy Cluster era: I’m soft on the inside, but got to be a little bit guarded sometimes going into the year, protecting my soft center,” Rae says in an interview with Billboard.

The NFL announced that the “Black National Anthem” would be performed at this year’s Super Bowl. Right on cue, and on brand, the MAGA snowflakes are crying racist tears under the false guise of “but equality.”
The Black National Anthem referenced is actually “Lift Every Voice And Sing.” The hymn was written by James Weldon Johnson as an ode to the struggle of African Americans after the Civil War. In time, the song came to be revered and has been sung alongside the National Anthem during sporting events and gatherings. For the 2024 Super Bowl’s pre-game festivities, Reba McEntire will sing the National Anthem, Post Malone will sing “America The Beautiful” and Andra Day will hold down “Lift Every Voice And Sing.”
However, this is a bridge too far for the racists who can’t seem to get their little pea brains around the need for say a “Black History” or “Black History Month” despite the existence of like, white supremacy. So when the NFL said “Lift Every Voice And Sing” would get a look during the Super Bowl (and it’s not the first time—Sheryl Lee Ralph knocked it out the park last year, for example), Cerfified Snowflakes like Charlie Kirk got on their high white horse (pun intended) about the need for unity.
Mind you, these are the same gaslighters doing everything they can to instill divisiveness with their Klan-friendly agendas. You can peep some of the more focused tomfoolery in the gallery.
Also, let’s not lose sight of the fact that out of all the photos of Sheryl Lee Ralph that the outlet below could have used, they chose that one.
Sometimes you just gotta laugh at that snowflake fragility. Stay mad.
1. Team “I See No Color” is strong.
2. Them people.
5. Trolls gonna troll.
6. Until you apply for a loan…
7. Who’s gonna tell them?
9. More “them” energy.
