On Tuesday, April 2, legendary skater turned actor Harold Hunter would’ve turned 50-years-old. Although he’s not here to celebrate such a milestone with us, famed photographer Jonathan Mannion is ensuring his legacy continues on.
According to Hypebeast, Mannion took to the streets of New York City to plaster the likeness of Hunter throughout Downtown Manhattan using never-before-seen photos he took with Hunter during their skate sessions back in 1997. While many of today’s youth may be unfamiliar with the Kids actor (classic film), Mannion included a QR code that would inform onlookers of his legacy and how he utilized skateboarding to positively impact his community.

Outside his celebrated history with Zoo York, Hunter was cherished for his exuberant and welcoming personality that transcended the world of skateboarding, leading to a number of modeling and acting roles during the ’90s, including campaigns with Tommy Hilfiger and Larry Clark’s seminal film, Kids(1995). “Harold’s skateboard was just a vehicle,” said actor Rosario Dawson, who grew up in the same neighborhood as the skater, in a past interview. “He became famous for his personality and his spirit. If anybody came to New York, he would take them in and show them the city.” Hunter was tragically found dead in the Manhattan housing project he grew up in on February 17, 2006, from a heart attack. He was 31.
“It is for all of these insights gained that day about Harold’s spirit that I have chosen to hold him as high as possible on what would have been his 50th Birthday, in order to begin to share deeper layers of his humanity,” said Mannion in a release regarding the partnership. “Crying tears from infectious laughter, calmer introspective moments, pure connection with community as he interacted with anyone who he encountered… they don’t make them like Harold anymore,” Mannion added.
Here’s to hoping that Mannion’s tribute to Hunter inspires a few souls to follow suit one way or another. According to Mannion, the Harold Hunter Foundation helped make his tribute possible.

Carpenter was more than happy to join the growing list of musicians who’ve starred in the lifestyle brand’s campaigns including Usher, Lana Del Rey (who had a Valentine’s Day collection) and Nelly Furtado (who offered personal picks).
“I loved the femininity of the whole creative,” she said in a press statement. “I feel very excited SKIMS chose me to be the face of this campaign as I’ve always been a fan of the brand.”
As a longtime fan of the lingerie brand, she also noted which pieces were her most favorite.
“I love both collections, especially the delicacy of the Stretch Lace and the second-skin feel of Fits Everybody,” she said. “Every piece I wore was super flattering and so comfortable, which of course is always a given with SKIMS!”
The campaign video features nods to the ’90s as Carpenter poses in various pieces from the lingerie collection in a room filled with posters and stacks of CDs evoking some major nostalgia.

The logo that The Notorious B.I.G. made famous is still in high demand. Chaos erupted at a Versace sample sale in New York City.
As reported by Gothamist the brand that Gianni built recently attempted to host a pop up shop where consumers could buy sample pieces. On Wednesday, March 27 hundreds of individuals lined up early at 125 West 18th Street hoping to score designer at a discount. Unfortunately the overwhelming demand took the staff by surprise and bedlam ensued upon the doors opening to the public.
The crowds pushed their way in causing a bottlenecking at the entry. Video taken on site shows that tensions were already high at that point with some individuals yelling and shoving others out the way in an effort to squeeze in. Eventually a fight broke out prompting the store staff to call NYPD for assistance. Upon arriving at the scene the local badges temporarily shut down the event in an effort to control the crowds. The Strategic Response Group can be seen ordering everyone off the block.
One woman took to TikTok saying “It’s ghetto here. It’s ghetto. It got shut down. They even broke the glass of one of the doors” she said. “They’ve been fighting each other, some girl had to leave out in the ambulance because she got trampled.” Another man gave further details on the origins of the commotion. “People ran to the front and then they stayed at the front, and then the people in the second batch argued about it and then total chaos ensued” he added.
The sample sale was scheduled to run until Saturday, March 30 but has since been cancelled. Versace has yet to comment on the matter. You can watch footage of mayhem below.

MSCHF, the Brooklyn-based art collective that landed on many radars with the release of their Big Red Boot just dropped a new boot that’s sure to get people talking once more. Tapping legendary Brooklyn native Spike Lee, MSCHF is set to release its new 2X4 Boot that is most certainly a riff on a classic boot beloved by many in New York and abroad.
As spotted on Nice Kicks, it appears that the MSCHF 2X4 Boot is an elaborate return shot at VF Corp, the company that owns Timberland. According to the outlet, the 2X4 Boot is in response to VF Corp taking legal measures to halt the sale of the brand’s Wavy Baby shoe collaboration with Tyga, which took the classic Vans silhouette and added some wavy flair. Max B would’ve loved these sneakers, if you catch our drift.

The latest from MSCHF is a continuation of the brand’s satirical outlook as the brand pokes fun at Timberland, owned by VF Corp, which also serves as the parent company for Vans.
Vans successfully won an appeal to prevent MSCHF from selling its “Wavy Baby” shoes and the Brooklyn-based art collective has returned to troll Vans’ parent company, VF Corp, with a knock-off boot of its subsidiary Timberland brand.
The 2X4 Boot drops on March 19 and retails for $400. We expect this one to have a nice run similar to the Big Red Boot and the backstory is one for the ages.
