Travis Kelce isn’t the only one whose jersey sales have soared amid his romance with Taylor Swift — his brother Jason, who plays center for the Philadelphia Eagles, has recently seen a bump too … in the United Kingdom, where soccer is largely popular.
Jason shed light on both his and Travis’ jerseys being the top two selling jerseys in the U.K. on the Wednesday (Dec. 13) installment of their joint New Heights podcast.

“We are the No. 1 and No. 2 top jersey in the United Kingdom,” Jason told his younger brother. “Trav, you got the No. 1 jersey — good to know we’re still No. 1 at something these days — followed by me at No. 2. This is crazy — it’s Travis, then me, then Pat Mahomes and Jalen Hurts.”

Travis agreed, saying that their latest jersey boost “doesn’t make any sense. Either way, I’ll take it.” When Jason inquired if there were a lot of Swifties residing in the U.K., the Kansas City Chiefs tight end replied, “Gotta be, only reasonable solution because of all of this.”

While Travis’ jersey boost comes amid his romance with Swift, Jason joked that his heightened jersey sales likely comes from people mixing him and his brother up. “They’re all Kylie Kelce fans, so they’re supporting [Jason’s wife] Kylie [Kelce],” he joked, before giving her and Swift credit. “Shoutout to Kylie, shoutout to Taylor. Thank you, guys.”

This isn’t the first time Travis has experienced a large boost in his jersey sales. When Swift attended Kansas City Chiefs’ Sept. 24 game, it was reported that his jersey saw a 400% increase in sales.

“Yesterday, Travis Kelce was one of the top five selling NFL players and saw a nearly 400% spike in sales throughout the Fanatics network of sites, including NFLShop.com,” a spokesperson for the NFL’s official e-commerce partner, Fanatics, said in a statement obtained by CNN.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have got this whole supportive couple thing on lock. Soon after the 33-year-old pop star showed some love to the 34-year-old football player’s exciting new NFL record on social media, Kelce gave his superstar girlfriend a special shoutout on his New Heights podcast Wednesday (Nov. 29). The sweet moment came […]

Look out, Chiefs Kingdom — there are some powerful forces at play trying to poach Travis Kelce. In a hilarious moment on the Wednesday (Nov. 29) episode of the New Heights podcast, Machine Gun Kelly genuinely tried to bribe the tight end to leave Kansas City for the Browns in Cleveland, which both MGK and Kelce have called home.
“I’m sure you get asked this question behind closed doors a lot, but I would be remiss if due to the nature of our friendship and just as a Clevelander if I did not insert this question personally,” began the rapper-turned-rocker, calling in to New Heights with a surprise request.

“I will give you $500,000 cash upon arrival just for shopping or whatever you want,” he continued. “As well as matching that same amount as a donation to both of our high schools — both Shaker Heights and Cleveland Heights — as well as every day breakfast and coffee delivery from my restaurant, if you would just come home and put on these colors right here.”

“Come on home, Trav!” added the “My Ex’s Best Friend” musician. “Come home, put these colors on and rock the city.”

Both Travis and his older brother/podcast co-host Jason Kelce — who plays center on the Philadelphia Eagles and was later extended the same offer by MGK — laughed out loud with bewildered shock. “You know that was the original dream, dawg,” Travis replied. “You know that was the dream!”

And although the 34-year-old football star admitted it was “an intriguing offer,” Chiefs fans need not worry. He won’t be sporting an orange and brown uniform any time soon (and consequently, his superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift will probably stick to watching his games from her usual suite in Arrowhead Stadium). “You know how much we love the East side of Cleveland, the Heights,” Travis told his friend. “I’m not gonna lie, the situation’s pretty good in Kansas City.”

“My fingers [are] crossed, there is no decision that needs to be made right now, but just know my offer is real and it’s on the table,” conceded MGK, noting he’d be sending new music soon to Travis, who he called his “secret muse.”

Taylor Swift may not be cheer captain, but she’s still rooting on Travis Kelce both on and off the bleachers. Though the “Anti-Hero” singer was unable to attend Kelce’s away game against the Las Vegas Raiders Sunday (Nov. 26), she did show her support for the Kansas City Chiefs player’s fresh new record – fourth […]

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. was named the 2023 National League Most Valuable Player last week — and to celebrate, a song named after the Venezuelan athlete’s nickname, “La Bestia,” has been released.
Backed by a catchy dembow beat and lyrics chanted by Dominican artist Niko Eme, “La Bestia” is the perfect sing-along song to hype up fans at a baseball game. “Who am I? Who am I? Who am I? The beast,” says the repetitive chorus in Spanish.

“We wanted something that felt global and to do something we could put a chant to,” award-winning Mexican-American producer Samuel Ash tells Billboard. “I felt that dembow is perfect for that because it’s something you could repeat with a gang of people. We wanted something that was high energy. So that’s just what I felt when we were coming up with ideas of what direction to go in as far as the style of music. I know dembow is a Dominican genre but I felt that it could still feel global and resonate with him as a Venezuelan.”

The song is only the second effort the Atlanta Braves have released as part of a sports-meets-music initiative that launched this year. The first song was “Home of the Braves” by Zaytoven featuring Young Dro to celebrate the launch of the Braves City Connect jerseys.

“Part of it is trying to figure out how we can connect to our audience in unique ways and out-of-the-box ways,” elaborates Eugene Brooks, director of diversity marketing of the Atlanta Braves. “The objective is how do we reach people where they are, especially the younger audiences, through all the different platforms?”

“La Bestia” was created within a week and released the day Acuña was crowned MVP. Both Brooks and Ash admit they kept the song under the radar, hoping — but never doubting — that Acuña Jr. would get the title.

The 25-year-old four-time All-Star won his first career MVP in his sixth major-league season, marking the eighth time a Braves player has nabbed the title after Freddie Freeman (2020), Chipper Jones (1999), Terry Pendleton (1991), Dale Murphy (1982, 1983), Hank Aaron (1957), Robert Elliott (1947) and Johnny Evers (1914). “He was a unanimous selection, receiving 30 of 30 first-place votes from the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. He finished with 420 points, 150 more than runner-up Mookie Betts,” according to a press statement.

As for having his own song, one that will hopefully become his walk-up anthem next year, Brooks assured that Acuña loves it.

“From what I know, he was very shocked that we would create something like this specifically for him,” he says. “As a whole, I think it forces you to look at baseball differently now with how we attract fans and what we want to do. It’s also a way to celebrate our players in a unique manner. So it kind of creates synergies between the player and the organization.”

“This initiative that we’re doing with the Braves is so important for the Latino community,” Ash adds. “I feel that we’re in a season where we’re walking and opening doors so that the people behind us can run. I’m very excited about it.”

Jeff Teague, a former NBA player, has embarked on a new career as a broadcaster unbeknownst to those outside of his current audience. Now a host of the Club 520 podcast, Jeff Teague and his expert command of storytelling is on full display and he shared a hilarious Charles Oakley story that we’re still processing.
Teague, 35, left the league after a stint as a member of the 2020-21 Milwaukee Bucks, winning a championship in the process. With Club 520, now in its second season, Teague and his co-hosts Brandon Hendricks and DJ Wells cover basketball as expected but also pop culture points as well. The trio got into a spirited debate about Drake and Michael Jackson, with Teague calling the Canadian superstar a better vocalist than the late King of Pop.

However, the moment in the current episode of Club 520 that had fans talking was the Oakley tale. During Teague’s rookie season with the Atlanta Hawks, he was paired up with former NBA big man Tyrone Hill for training. Teague then explains that former NBA player Duane Farrell came into the gym and alerted him that Hill owed Oakley some money.
True to the legend that is Oakley, Teague says Oak began flinging basketballs with pinpoint accuracy towards Hill, demanding his overdue funds. Trust us, the way we’re telling it here isn’t as funny as hearing Teague’s version.
Check out the Club 520 podcast below and hop to the 30:00-minute mark. We encourage readers to watch the entire episode as it’s great content on its own.

When it comes to the marriage of football and music, all eyes are generally focused on the Super Bowl, but in recent years, Thanksgiving has become a spectacular ratings feast of its own for the NFL as it combines two of America’s favorite pastimes.
Last year, the three football games played on Thanksgiving drew a total audience of 138 million viewers (defined by Nielsen as the number of people who watched for at least 1 minute of the games). That’s not only a record high for the holiday games, but it makes the NFL’s three halftime shows the most watched music events on television other than the Super Bowl, easily surpassing all major awards shows.

This year could topple that record, as Dolly Parton performs the halftime show at the Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders game, Jack Harlow at the Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers game and Steve Aoki at the Seattle Seahawks vs. the San Francisco 49ers game.

The Lions have hosted a Thanksgiving Day game every year since 1934, and the Cowboys since 1966. In 2006, the NFL added a third Thanksgiving game in prime time, with the match-up changing annually.

Like the Super Bowl, conversations about potential Thanksgiving halftime entertainment begins months in advance, often as early as the spring. “All three teams came to me at the outset to discuss options,” says Seth Dudowsky, the NFL’s head of music. “We collectively brainstorm, and I provide feedback on artist opportunities based on conversations across the industry throughout the offseason. From there, we align on best options and move forward with an offer coming from the team.”

Though the league’s 32 teams have their own dedicated staffs to lead their franchise’s entertainment efforts, Dudowsky’s role is to “be a bridge to the artist and larger music community, while helping teams strategize on artist selection, production execution, media planning, music clearances, and ultimately help the teams and artists tap into the vast NFL ecosystem.”

For this year’s Thanksgiving halftime shows, Dudowsky helped facilitated the introductions between the artists’ teams and Detroit’s senior vp of marketing and brand Emily Griffin and Seattle’s manager of game entertainment and special events Daniel Hardina to help them secure Harlow and Aoki. The Cowboys’ executive vp/chief brand officer Charlotte Jones and vp of brand and marketing Meredith Counce met with Parton’s team when the superstar was in Frisco, Texas, in May to host the Academy of Country Awards after ACM executive director Damon Whiteside made the introductions.

Similarly to the Super Bowl, which will feature Usher at next year’s Feb. 11 game, the goal is to book acts with a broad audience. “We’re looking to feature artists who can appeal to all ages, are culturally relevant, are great performers and ultimately can help us create amazing memories for the fans in attendance and at home,” Dudowksy says. “For us, that isn’t confined to one genre or any specific metric.”

Like the Super Bowl, the acts play for free — though as viewership has risen, the slots have become more competitive. “Certainly as the platform and the game ratings continues to grow, the music community has taken note,” Dudowsky says. “In a media landscape where cutting through the noise is the hardest thing to do, these games provide an unprecedented platform for artist exposure.”

Past halftime performers at Thanksgiving games have included Jonas Brothers, Luke Combs, Pitbull, Destiny’s Child, Big Sean, Bebe Rexha, Mariah Carey and Enrique Iglesias.

Landing a superstar like Parton “only further cements the NFL Thanksgiving halftime shows as a platform worthy of the biggest superstars in music,” Dudowsky says.

Each artist performs for roughly six minutes. Fox will air Harlow’s halftime show in full, as will CBS with Parton. NBC will show clips of Aoki’s DJ set interspersed with other footage. The NFL owns the performances and will post Parton’s and Harlow’s sets on their socials following the games.

Parton’s manager, Danny Nozell, says her appearance will feature the biggest production the Cowboys have ever done for a halftime show. Because the time constraints are so precise — Nozell says Parton will perform for exactly six minutes and 15 seconds — they designed a stage on wheels in Nashville for her to practice. “Dolly rehearsed [the halftime show] for a full week here because I didn’t want her going into Dallas and having her going on to the stage for the first time.” Plus, since going over cuts into advertising time, Nozell says, “Dolly is all over me to make sure that she is on that stage and off that stage so we don’t cause anybody heartache and then we are not losing anyone money.”

For Aoki, it was an immediate yes after the DJ’s agent at WME approached him with the offer. “We see sports events are a great unifier,” says his manager Matt Colon. “Performing at a top tier event like F1 last weekend, where Steve performed for the opening, or the NFL game this Thursday allows Steve to not only to play to a larger in person audience but also to a huge swath of demographics that wouldn’t otherwise be exposed to his music or come to his show, and then amplified to a broadcast audience often in the millions or more.”

Aoki’s performance will incorporate an LED light show with fans handed light-up wristbands upon entry, according to a Seahawks press release.

Additionally, the artists are taking advantage of the games for some additional promotion. Harlow has posted fun TikToks, including one with the Lions’ social media manager, as well as appeared on Monday Night Football on Oct. 30 to announce his Thanksgiving appearance, both of which have also helped boost awareness around his new single “Lovin’ on Me.”

Parton, who released Rockstar on Nov. 17, is selling a 2-CD Dallas Cowboys limited edition of the album on her website for $24.95. The exclusive, according to the website, can only be sold at the game and online to certain areas of Texas and across Oklahoma, per NFL rules. A Dolly/Dallas Cowboys T-shirt is available via the Cowboys’ website.

Appearing in the Thanksgiving halftime is a “steppingstone” to potentially playing the Super Bowl, Nozell says. “It’s moving in that direction,” he says. “Dolly and I have talked about it several different times and we thought, ‘Let’s do this first because it really is the second largest viewership to the Super Bowl.’”

Grammy best new artist nominee The War and Treaty will perform the national anthem at the Detroit game; Dallas will feature trumpeter Freddie Jones, who has played the anthem before every Dallas home game since 2013; and Tinashe will handle the honors in Seattle.

For the first time, the NFL will air a game on Black Friday via its deal with Amazon, which began streaming Thursday Night Football games this season. Coordinated through Amazon Music Live, Black Friday’s game between the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets will feature a halftime interview with Garth Brooks promoting his concert from his Nashville bar, Friends in Low Places, that will stream on Amazon Prime and Twitch later that night.

As for Dudowsky, he’ll be watching the Thanksgiving games from his couch, although likely not in a post-turkey, tryptophan-induced coma like millions of Americans. He’ll have his phone and laptop at hand, “ready to react to any last minute (or in-show) issues and how we’re posting afterwards,” he says. “We have incredible production teams at all three games handling the performances on the ground, so if everything goes according to plan, it’s a great day of football, food and music I get to enjoy from home.”
