Flavor Flav Creates Custom Clock Chain for Olympian Jordan Chiles

Artistic Gymnastics - Olympic Games Paris 2024: Day 10

Snoop Dogg was the face of the 2024 Olympics in Paris. But, Flavor Flav has definitely been one of its fairy godfathers.

The Public Enemy legend sponsored the Women’s Water Polo team and helped an Olympian pay her rent while she was at the games.

Earlier this week, Flav offered to create a bronze clock for gymnast Jordan Chiles who represented Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. She finished fifth in the individual floor exercise on Aug. 5 with her Beyoncé-inspired routine–and was later bumped up to third place, though, after her coach Cecile Landi submitted an inquiry about a split leap, claiming she didn’t receive credit for it.

“Ayyy YOOOO @ChilesJordan,,, imma make you a BRONZE CLOCK NECKLACE,,, and that’s something NO ONE else has,!!! Hit me up my girl,,, I gotchu,!!!” Flav wrote on X (formerly Twitter), where he added a GIF of himself dancing at the Olympics while wearing a clock necklace of his own.

According to Newsweek, Chiles told NBC after the win that the accomplishment was “a dream come true,” she added, “It’s my first time ever in an event final. Like we said, it was a redemption tour, and I just wanted to come out and do the best that I could. So, this medal means everything. First event final, first event medal, like, oh my gosh! I have no words, but I’m very proud of myself.”

However, that dream quickly turned to disappointment when the Romanian Federation of Gymnastics filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), alleging that Chiles’ inquiry had been submitted too late. The court agreed, and Chiles has been ruled to be in fifth place and has to return her bronze medal. However, Team USA Olympics has vowed to keep fighting for her to keep it.

Recently, Flavor Flav showed off the custom clock on X, writing, “USA gonna Fight the Powers that be,,, in the meantime between time,,, Imma always [be] a man of my word @ChilesJordan,” he referenced Public Enemy’s infamous song “Fight the Power.”

When Flav first made the offer, Gina Chiles–the gymnast’s mother commented, “Thank you. Means the world. She’s not on socials right now as you can imagine. I’ll share it with her.”

Today, Jordan Chiles returned to social media briefly to release a statement saying the decision to strip her of her medal “feels unjust and comes as a significant blow, not just to me, but to everyone who has championed my journey.”

She added, “I will never waver from my values of competing with integrity, striving for excellence, upholding the values of sportsmanship and the rules that dictate fairness. I have taken pride in cheering on everyone regardless of team or country. Finding joy has been a culture shift and I love seeing others embrace it. I feel like I have given everyone permission to be authentic to who they are.”

Kim Kardashian Says Her Son Saint Tries to Set Her Up With Athletes: ‘If You Only Knew’

Kim Kardashian may not be ready to get back in the dating scene, but her kids want her to be!

The SKIMS founder stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she revealed that she’s not currently dating anyone — much to her four children’s dismay. “It’s so funny because my kids try to set me up. Like, they’re ready now but I’m not. They’re so particular. They come home and make lists.”

Kardashian shares 11-year-old North, eight-year-old Saint, six-year-old Chicago and five-year-old Psalm with her ex-husband Kanye West. The reality TV superstar revealed that Saint, who’s a major sports fan, wants her to date a basketball player or soccer player. “I’m like, ‘If you only knew,’” she joked.

Ultimately, Kardashian said she tells her kids: “‘Guys, [dating] just isn’t what I want right now.’”

Kardashian filed for divorce from West in February 2021 after six years of marriage, and had a brief romance with comedian Pete Davidson in 2022. Before her relationship with West, the star was romantically linked to multiple athletes, including football running back Reggie Bush, Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver Miles Austin and basketball player Kris Humphries, whom she was married to for just 72 days. Most recently, in fall 2023, Kardashian was rumored to be dating Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., though they never confirmed their relationship to the public.

A New Jelly Roll Song Will Be the ESPN College Football Anthem for 2024-25 Season

CMA Award winner and four-time Billboard Country Airplay chart-topping artist Jelly Roll will soon see his new song serve as the music anthem for ESPN’s college football coverge during the 2024-2025 season on ESPN platforms, starting Saturday, Aug. 24.

Jelly Roll’s new single “Get By,” which will also be featured on his upcoming new album, serves as the soundtrack for ESPN’s season-long college football coverage across ESPN networks and ABC. This marks the 11th season that ESPN has partnered with an artist to create an anthem for ESPN’s college football coverage. Previous artists ESPN partnered with include Post Malone, Fall Out Boy, Imagine Dragons, Yungblud, Lauren Alaina and Thirty Seconds to Mars.

Curtis Friends, ESPN vice president of marketing, said in a statement, “There’s a powerful connection between music and college football and for more than a decade, the ESPN college football music anthem has been integral to the promotion of the sport while its release has marked the unofficial start to the season. Jelly Roll is a talented, award-winning artist whose music speaks to the passion of college football fans across the country, and we’re excited ‘Get By’ will soundtrack the sport all season long.”

The college football officially kicks off on Aug. 24, as ACC rivals Florida State and Georgia Tech face off starting at noon ET on ESPN at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Additionally, College GameDay Built by The Home Depot will make its season debut, onsite, prior to the game.

Jelly Roll has been a ubiquitous persona of late, including taking part in this year’s WWE SummerSlam on Aug. 3, participating in a recent Nashville television taping honoring the late country entertainer Toby Keith, teaming with MGK for the new song and music video “Lonely Road,” and even offering a surprise show in Tampa, Florida last month after fellow country artist Morgan Wallen was forced to postpone his stadium show due to illness.

Jelly Roll also recently extended his headlining Beautifully Broken Tour again, adding even more tour dates to the trek.

Pitbull Purchases Naming Rights to FIU Football Stadium — Now Known as Pitbull Stadium

According to the network, Pitbull and FIU entered a five-year deal in which the “Time of Our Lives” artist will pay $6 million to the university for FIU Stadium to be renamed to Pitbull Stadium.

“International recording artist Pitbull is purchasing the naming rights to FIU’s football stadium,” ESPN’s reporter Pete Thamel noted on X. “He’s expected to pay the school $1.2 million per year for the next five years to change the name of FIU Stadium to Pitbull Stadium, per FIU board documents.”

Trending on Billboard

Pitbull shared the news in a video on Instagram that shows him dancing on a giant screen above the football field, with a sign above that reads “Pitbull Stadium” as his song “Triumph” plays.

It’s a landmark agreement as Pitbull is the first musician to have a stadium bear their name in the history of college athletics. Once approved, Pitbull Stadium will take effect this upcoming football season with FIU set to host Central Michigan in their home opener on Sept. 7.

“What we’re doing here is groundbreaking. We’re making history. This is history in the making,” Pitbull told ESPN. “You’re going to see that every other university is going to want to do the same thing. But the difference is, we don’t do this for propaganda, we do it from the heart. We do it because it’s meaningful. We do it because I’m from the crib. I’m 305. I’m from the bottom. This is my backyard.”

ESPN also reports that there’s an option in the deal for the Grammy winner to renew the naming rights for another five years if he chooses to do so. Other parts of the agreement include Pitbull crafting an anthem for the school, posting about FIU 12 times per year on social media and make an annual appearance at a university fundraising event. ESPN also reported that the 43-year-old mogul will have access to the 20,000-person capacity stadium for 10 days a year, and his vodka company will be the “preferred” distributor for liquor served in the venue. He also will be given a pair of luxury box suites to every home game.

Pitbull will look to bring his mojo for success to the school as it’s been tough sledding for FIU on the gridiron. The team hasn’t had a winning season since 2018 and is coming off a pair of rough 4-8 campaigns under head coach Mike MacIntyre.

Later in the evening, a man was charged after threatening on social media to shoot “two individuals, who were members of the Kansas City Chiefs organization” and who were present at the event, according to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office in Missouri. The statement, which referred to the felony as a “terroristic threat,” was released Saturday by Michael Mansur, director of communication, on behalf of Jackson County’s prosecutor, Jean Peters Bak.

As a result, the show was delayed 40 minutes. In court documents, the defendant was quoted as saying, “It was a stupid, stupid, stupid mistake.” He claimed he had never made threats in the past on social media and stated again that “it was stupid.” His girlfriend told investigators that the alleged threat was posted, and then deleted, on a “burner” account where he’d “tweet stupid stuff.”

“The defendant was charged earlier today and a $15,000 bond was set. Prosecutors requested a $250,000 cash bond,” according to the prosecutor’s office.

Watch Rihanna Humbly Play Photographer for a Young Soccer Fan Who Doesn’t Recognize Her

Rihanna got a break from the camera flashes that usually follow her around when a clueless young soccer fan asked her to get behind the lens recently.

In a newly surfaced video from Manchester City’s match against AC Milan at Yankee Stadium over the weekend, the Fenty mogul poses alongside soccer pros Christian Pulisic, Jack Grealish and Yunus Musah. While chatting with the players afterward, a little boy interrupts to ask for a photo with the group — sans Rih, whom he demotes to camerawoman, seemingly unaware that a billionaire superstar is in his midst.

Luckily, the “We Found Love” singer doesn’t take it as a slight — in fact, she immediately jumps into photographer mode, leaning back on an armchair to get the best angle and directing other kids to get into frame.

Trending on Billboard

The cute moment comes as Rih is as hard at work as ever on her beauty and fashion businesses, recently teasing a new Savage x Fenty campaign on Instagram. Her Fenty Beauty brand is a premium partner of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, which she announced about a week before the Games kicked off with a funny edit, also on Instagram.

There’s still no sign of a new album from the nine-time Grammy winner, though — and as some fans in the replies pointed out, her lack of new music over the past eight years could very well be the reason certain little kids don’t recognize her in person anymore. One fan, for instance, jokingly commented that the boy who snubbed Rih for the soccer players was “in the womb when anti released,” referring to her 2016 Billboard 200-topping album.

Rihanna herself most recently addressed the matter in a hilarious message to GloRilla, a screenshot of which the “TGIF” rapper posted on Instagram: “I know dis wild hypothetical, but when the album drop?”

Watch Rih play photographer for a little boy and his soccer heroes below.
