Adrian Wojnarowski, the former lead NBA reporter for ESPN, stepped down from the role earlier this year to become the general manager of his alma mater’s men’s basketball team, St. Bonaventure. In a new interview, Wojnarowski, lovingly referred to as Woj by his colleagues and readers, shared that he’s been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is monitoring his health carefully.
Woj sat down with Sports Illustrated and shared with the publication what his next steps in life are after many years as ESPN’s top NBA insider. Woj was one of the leading sports reporters covering the NBA due to his ability to obtain breaking news ahead of other outlets and his sources offered reliable tips that led to published stories.

In the SI piece, Wojnarowski does reveal that while the diagnosis was indeed jarring, it wasn’t the reason he stepped away from his coveted role at ESPN. Instead, he framed it as a moment of clarity.
From SI:
The prognosis, Woj says, is good. “When you hear cancer, you think about it going through your body like Pac-Man,” Woj says. “Prostate cancer, it generally stays confined to your prostate and is typically slow growing.” He has no symptoms and says the cancer is “pretty limited in scope.” Active surveillance is the current treatment, which translates to quarterly checkups and regular monitoring. He’s been instructed to improve his eating habits, exercise more and get better sleep. Surgery is still a possibility, but for now doctors say the only reason to have it is if he can’t mentally deal with having the cancer inside him.
The sobering news aside, Wojnarowski also stated that he intends to enjoy life more and realizes that time is fleeting. One of his former ESPN colleagues, NFL insider Chris Mortensen, died in March of this year from throat cancer. After attending a memorial service for Mortensen in Arkansas this past May, the moment hammered home to Wojnarowski how unimportant the job was in comparison to spending time with loved ones.
“In the end, it’s just going to be your family and close friends. And it’s also, like, nobody gives a sh*t. Nobody remembers [breaking stories] in the end. It’s just vapor,” Woj said.
Amen to that.

Conor McGregor, a professional combat sports fighter and entrepreneur, has faced several legal issues throughout his career, and the latest matter has a new development. The Irish MMA star was ordered to pay a woman $250,000 in a civil suit after she accused Conor McGregor of sexually assaulting her.

As reported by The Guardian, Conor McGregor, 36, was in Ireland’s high court last Friday (November 22) to hear the judgment regarding the civil rape and sexual assault case. Nikita Hand, the woman accusing McGregor, said that the former UFC champion raped her in a hotel in Dublin in December 2018.

Hand said she came across McGregor and invited him to a Christmas party at her place of work to join her and a friend. Hand also said that James Lawrence was also an attendee of the party and sexually assaulted her as well although the jury found no evidence backing the claim. Hand spoke to a throng of reporters outside the courthouse after the verdict was read and thanked her supporters and loved ones.
In a series of now-deleted replies on the X platform, McGregor lashed out at Hand, calling her a “vicious liar” and springboarded upon Lawrence being cleared of charges as an attempt to exonerate himself.
“Two men falsely accused One vindicated, the other soon to be,” McGregor wrote last Saturday. “Congrats James Lawrence on absolute exoneration! Twice this heinous accusation was put to you and twice it was shown as FALSE!”
Conor McGregor has vowed to seek an appeal and have the case overturned.

Charlotte Hornets superstar LaMelo Ball’s wallet took a hit after the NBA fined him for language it deemed “offensive and derogatory” during a postgame interview over the weekend. He’s adamant there isn’t a hateful bone in his body.

You can bet LaMelo Ball won’t be saying “no homo” during his postgame press conferences ever again. The professional hooper learned the term often associated with “pause” and made popular by rappers like Cam’ron and Ma$e and often used during their sports debate show It Is What Is when trying to signify they are not gay after saying something that would be considered “homosexual” in nature.
“We loaded up,” Ball said before making sure to add in, “no homo,” during the postgame interview following the Hornets thrilling 115-114 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Following Sunday’s 128-114 loss to the still-undefeated Cleveland Cavaliers, Ball told reports that he “really didn’t mean anything” by the remark and doesn’t “want to offend anybody.”
“I’ve got love for everybody,” he added, “and I don’t discriminate.”Before the game, Hornets head coach Charles Lee said Ball was “very apologetic,” adding, “He and I talked about it, and he definitely said going forward, ‘I’m going to be better,’ and I want to see that happen. So for somebody to use those words and say that out of his mouth, we will make sure to hold him accountable to that.”
Ball is not the first player to feel the league’s wrath for using the term. Brooklyn Nets rising star Cam Thomas was fined $40K by the NBA, well below the league maximum fine of $100K Ball was hit with.
Social media also had thoughts on the matter. You can see those reactions in the gallery below.

Texas can barely hold its excitement for Beyoncé‘s newly announced halftime-show performance at this year’s Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens game on Christmas Day — much less the rest of her fans across the world.  As revealed late Sunday (Nov. 17) via a cinematic teaser — which showed off the superstar’s impressive football-catching skills — […]
