“I just didn’t expect that me recording videos at my house would lead to me being here right now. When I grow up, I want to be a pop singer,” Journeyy said in a backstage interview ahead of his performance according to NBC.

Performing his own original song “Paradise,” the New Jersey native wowed the crowd with not just exceptional songwriting skills but also an incredible stage presence and vocal ability that belied his young age.

Trending on Billboard

As he began to play the opening notes of “Paradise,” the room fell into a hushed anticipation. His voice, soulful and rich, had a haunting quality reminiscent of Lana Del Rey, drawing listeners into his imaginative world of “purple clouds” and “automatic lullabies”.

The judges’ reactions were unanimously positive. Heidi Klum was the first to speak, telling Journeyy, “I’m very impressed by you. Nine years old, your parents must be super proud of you. I’m proud of you. I hope you’re proud of yourself. Very well done, you have a beautiful voice.” Journeyy’s parents and sister stood in the wings, wiping tears away and nodding in agreement.

Sofia Vergara, clearly moved, stated, “I love you,” prompting a giant grin from the young talent.

“I think this season we have so many cool kids. Super cool kids, you’re one of them,” she enthused. Howie Mandel, always ready with a quip, joked, “A long time ago, I was nine years old for almost a year, and I think you’re amazing.”

Simon Cowell, often the toughest critic, was full of praise. “You’ve just got it, haven’t you? I love hearing people write their own material. It’s a glimpse into who you are, and I really like you. Great things are going to happen to you. I can feel it.” He added, “You are somebody who has a God-given talent. And it’s rare.”

The impressive performance not only earned him a standing ovation but also four enthusiastic “yes” votes from the judges, securing his place in the next round.

Journeyy’s path to “America’s Got Talent” was not just a lucky break. Simon Cowell revealed that one of his friends had discovered Journeyy’s talent online and recommended him to the show.

“A couple of days ago, ‘You’ve got to see this video.’ And it was you. Anyway, we sent the video to the production team and then we found out that they’d already found you,” Simon said.

Despite his young age, Journeyy has already garnered a significant social media following, where his viral cover of Hillsong United’s “Oceans” caught the attention of both fans and industry insiders, paving his way to the show.

A few months ago we got a sneak peak of Sofia Vergara as the infamous drug lord Griselda Blanco in Netflix’s upcoming series Griselda, and today we get our first full trailer for the highly-anticipated series.

Source: Netflix / Netflix
Based on the real-life of the 70’s cocaine Queenpin who ruled the drug game with an iron fist, Griselda showcases the rise to power of the woman who knew she had to go the extra mile to get respect in a drug game dominated by men who felt women belonged in the kitchen. Through sheer violence and determination, Griselda Blanco not only got the attention and respect of her fellow drug moving peers, but also that of the U.S. Government who worked overtime to take down her empire.

Eventually known as “The Godmother” and “Black Widow,” Blanco ultimately became the Queen of the Hill as she was known to take no shorts and wasn’t scared to make an example of rivals, allies and even lovers (they called her the Black Widow for a reason). Filled with violence, bloodshed, and a lot of Spanish dialogue, the trailer for Griselda seems like the series is going to deliver on all levels.
Needless to say, we will be tuning in.
Check out the trailer for Griselda below and let us know if you’ll be tuning into Netflix when the series premiers on January 25 in the comment section.

Pablo Escobar is arguably the most famous cocaine drug lord the world has ever known, but unbeknownst to many, the man was rumored to be the protégés of one Griselda Blanco aka the “Godmother,” who ran a cocaine operation every bit as lucrative and deadly as that of “El Patron.”

Years after many became familiar with the name Griselda Blanco thanks to the DVD series Cocaine Cowboys, Netflix is now releasing a six-part miniseries based on the notorious Queen of narcotics starring everyone’s favorite Modern Family housewife, Sofia Vergara. According to Variety, the series will center around Blanco’s reign in the drug game that stretched from the 1970s to the 1980s. And if y’all know anything about Blanco’s history, it was a violent and bloody one that was bound to become must-see TV at some point.
Variety reports:

From writer-producer Eric Newman and director Andrés Baiz, both “Narcos” alums, the series follows Blanco as she builds one of the most profitable drug cartels in history while simultaneously parenting her three sons. She ran a notoriously ruthless and violent cocaine trade in New York and Miami in the 1970s and ‘80s after immigrating from Colombia, before she was arrested in 1985. Blanco was the first-ever woman criminal to become a billionaire before being murdered in Colombia at the age of 69, in 2012.
In addition to Vergara, who also serves as an executive producer, the cast includes Alberto Guerra (“Narcos: Mexico”), Vanessa Ferlito (“NCIS: New Orleans”), Alberto Ammann (“Narcos”), Christian Tappan (“The Great Heist”), Diego Trujillo (“Metastasis”), Paulina Davila (“Luis Miguel”), Gabriel Sloyer (“Narcos”), Juliana Aidén Martinez (“The Blacklist”), Martin Rodriguez (“Detrás de la Verdad”) and José Zúñiga (“American Crime Story: Versace”).
You really have to wonder if the producers of the show (and Vergara) went through backchannels and got permission from anyone related to the Blanco family just to avoid any potential smoke with the OGs in Colombia for doing this series. Just sayin’.
Griselda premiers on Netflix Jan. 25, 2024. Peep the teaser trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be checking for the series come next year.
