Shaquille O’Neal and Shannon Sharpe are legends of their respective sports and men of strong opinions as evidenced by their ongoing broadcast careers. After the legendary NBA big man seemingly stepped on Nikola Jokic‘s MVP nod, the former tight end shared some thoughts that sparked a spicy response from The Big Aristotle.
During a segment on Inside The NBA this past Wednesday (May 8), Shaquille O’Neal said to Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokick that he didn’t deserve to win his third Most Valuable Player, which Jokic graciously sidestepped without pushback. Shaq’s favorite for the award, along with several other analysts, was Oklahoma City Thunder superstar guard, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Shannon Sharpe and Chad OchoCinco joined together for their Nightcap broadcast where Sharpe, who is a three-time Super Bowl champion with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens and a Football Hall of Fame inductee, pushed back at Shaq speaking ill of another player’s greatness. During the segment on Jokic, Sharpe suggested that Shaq didn’t want to praise the Serbian big man as he’s won the MVP title three times out of the past four years, with the Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid winning in that timespan.
Shaq caught wind of Sharpe’s words and went a fiery Instagram rant that some felt went overboard.

Sharpe, never one to back away from anyone, fired back at Shaq but didn’t return the vitriol. Instead, Unc Shannon spoke in a measured tone, expressed humility, and explained that he’s never declared himself the best in his position despite the accolades and honors he’s earned. He even deferred to other tight ends in the league.

Shannon Sharpe’s exit from Undisputed and his efforts to build up his empire are paying off immensely.
Shannon Sharpe and his podcast Club Shay Shay broke the internet thanks to his explosive sitdown with Katt Williams, and now we know it also earned the former NFL pro, Super Bowl champion, and Hall-of-Famer a fat payday.
The interview was the talk of Twitter, formerly X because Willaims went nuclear on other comedians and talked about famous Black men’s penchant for racially ambiguous women, politics, and other hot topics.
Since its original airing, the interview has amassed over 61 million views, and on speaking with his Nightcap co-host Chad Johnson, Sharpe revealed it was a very lucrative conversation, claiming it earned him more bread than any year during his NFL career.

“Everybody was talking about how much money I made doing the Katt Williams interview,” Sharpe said. “I just got the check. So whatever you think I made, 3x it. So if you think I made $500,000, 3x it. If you think I made a million, 3x it. If you think I made $2 million, 3x it.”
“I made more money on Katt Williams alone than I made in any year that I played the NFL.”
Shannon Sharpe’s Career Earnings By The Numbers
According to Spotrac, Sharpe netted $22.3 million in career earnings during his 15 seasons in the NFL between the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens.
According to the website, Sharpe’s base salary with the Broncos during the 1999 season was $2.25 million, the highest of his career. A 2000 signing bonus earned him a bigger payday.
Sharpe doesn’t have to give exact numbers, but based on what he’s saying, he’s definitely caking right now. He also has other investments, like his Cognac, Le Portier Shay VSOP, and his contract with ESPN.

The origin of the long-running feud between 50 Cent and Ja Rule was revealed by Steve Stoute in a recent chat with Shannon Sharpe.
The bad blood between 50 Cent and Ja Rule has been a constant source of news over the years, with no one truly understanding the reasons why. But industry music veteran and UnitedMasters CEO Steve Stoute shone a light on the roots of it during his appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast this past Wednesday (March 6) when the host asked. “That’s a good question,” Stoute said. “I think 50 knew that Ja was not who he was portraying as an image. Ja [was a] Jehovah’s Witness… I’m not saying they not supposed to rap, but Ja was coming up with this gangster image. It was like, ‘That’s a stretch for you…’ They had some very neighborhood beef.”

Stoute continued as the two rode through the borough of Queens that both MCs hail from: “I remember when we signed 50 there was something going on. I think he snatched Ja’s chain, or somebody snatched somebody’s…And then they had a fight in Atlanta…and it was just like, I never understood it. I was like, ‘Why do you keep having problems with this guy?’ It was like he was always looking for problems…I think it was driven by this idea that this image he was portraying he didn’t think was authentic…It led to big issues. Ja and his guys ran up on 50 in the studio one day. They touched him up.”
Shannon then said, “Oh, so they’re never gonna be cool,” to which Stoute replied, “They’re never gonna be cool, and now, I’m happy that it’s all kind of over with,” he said. “What I don’t like at this point as older statesmen is…it makes the art form look bad. These guys are made men now…The leaders of the art form doin well, being positive, representing…the movement and the culture of Hip Hop well. For guys still to be beefing and still…dragging that back in…you in your 40s, bro. What are you talking about? From Oprah and Tyler Perry to Kevin Hart and Reverend Al Sharpton; Mo’Nique has a bone to pick with a few people, and we didn’t even know it was this deep and disappointing.
We’re not gonna lie, we’re kinda fearing for Shannon’s career at this point because the people he’s been having on his show have been airing out some dirty laundry from some of the game’s heavyweight hitters. Be safe out there, Unc!
Here are the 8 things we learned from Mo’Nique on Club Shay Shay.
1. Oprah did what?
When Oprah had Mo’Nique’s brother on the show, Oprah called up Mo’Nique and told her that he was going on there to apologize about molesting her when they were young. Mo’Nique says that she told Oprah she wanted no parts of that. Oprah offered to scrap the show, but Mo’Nique said she didn’t have to do that either. While Mo’Nique appreciated that Oprah called her to tell her about the show, she was shocked when she saw that her mother, father and other brother were going to be featured, too—as Oprah didn’t tell her about them. She said she felt betrayed.
2. More Oprah…
Mo’Nique reveals that Lee Daniels originally offered her the role of Gloria Gaines in The Butler, but Oprah called Daniels up and asked for the role. Because Daniels had no power or money, he apologized to Mo’Nique as he felt he had to give Oprah what she wanted. The same thing happened when Lee was going to do the biopic of Richard Pryor and offered Mo’Nique the role of his grandmother. Oprah called up and asked to be cast in that role. Mo’Nique stops short of saying that Oprah was sabotaging her career. But she did say she’d like to have a conversation with Oprah about some thangs.
3. Tyler?
Talking about how Tyler Perry basically ruined her reputation by starting the rumor that she was “difficult” to work with, Mo’Nique says she has an audio recording of Tyler admitting to the rumor and promising to fix it. Apparently she even let Shannon Sharpe hear the audio, and Shannon offered to have a sit-down between the three of them to hash out the situation.

During her drama with Tyler Perry, Mo’Nique says that people tried to speak to Perry on her behalf including the Rev. Al Sharpton. After hearing the audio she had of Perry admitting he did her wrong, Sharpton told her he’d speak to Perry. Six months went by without a word from Sharpton, but one day he popped up on podium saying: “We don’t need to fly commercial cause we could fly Tyler Perry’s private jet!” And there went that support for her.
5. Even more TP, with Kevin Hart
Talking about Kevin Hart, Mo’Nique says that Hart also reached out to Tyler Perry and after having that conversation promised Mo’Nique that he’d hold her down and partner with her on whatever projects she had in the chamber. The man even wrote her a check to help her while she and her family were down and out. However, when it came time to partner with her on bringing back her talk show, Hart’s manager deaded the deal and backed out. When she called Hart about it he said it was miscommunication and that he would fix it. That was two years ago—and they haven’t spoken since. Damnit, Kevin!
6. Almost Blown Up
Mo’Nique says that while she was filming on the set of Almost Christmas, her trailer literally blew up and the film’s producer, Will Packer, didn’t seem to care. Even after people on set were warning him that they smelled gas, he blew it off and walked away. Once they informed everyone about the explosion, they were only concerned with the whereabouts of the wigs for the movie. Christ on crutches.

The comedian also had an issue with Tiffany Haddish saying she doesn’t do business like Mo’Nique and is glad she doesn’t have a husband like hers. Mo’Nique simply said: “Tiffany, if you had a husband like mine you may not have two DUIs. If you had a husband like mine you may not be caught up in what looks like you could’ve been grooming a child. And I speak that with no judgement.” Don’t talk about Mo’Nique’s husband unless you want that ether, b.
8. Would you rather…
Reminiscing about doing D.L. Hughley’s radio show, Mo’Nique says that it was all good until she played a game of “Would You Rather” and it involved her husband in some weird sexual situations. When she called D.L. to complain about it, he blew her off and said: “That’s how we do it.” Needless to say, she didn’t appreciate the response.

Shannon Sharpe is feeling the wrath of Beyoncé fans after some recent comments.
The Hall-of-Famer/ NFL champion turned ESPN analyst and media personality is catching heat online after comments he made about Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.
During a recent episode of his Nightcap show with former NFL player Chad Ochocinco, the ESPN’s First Take analyst talked about Taylor Swift and her recent appearances at NFL games to watch her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce, play.
Sharpe read an article detailing how Swift’s presence has generated an extra $300 million in revenue for the team, claiming no other artist has that type of impact on the league. Ochocinco countered by bringing up Beyconcé.
The Club Shay Shay host disagreed, saying, “Not like this. Beyoncé ain’t moving the needle like this chick.”
He added, “The NFL can have anybody do halftime. I guarantee Taylor Swift is first.”
The Hive Was Not Feeling Shannon Sharpe’s Comments
Of course, the Hive, Beyoncé’s loyal fanbase, caught wind of Sharpe’s statements immediately, pointing out that if the Houston singer were dating an NFL player and attending their games, she would most definitely have the same impact.
“If Beyoncé was single and dating cam newton or an Odell in thier prime definitely would have moved the needle,” one user on X, formerly Twitter, wrote.
Another X user added, “Now Unc I’m with you when you’re right but if Beyonce was with an NFL player she would’ve moved the needle just like Taylor if not further!”
Some came to Sharpe’s defense, adding, “Shannon right nobody moving needles like Taylor.”

A few weeks ago Shannon Sharpe broke the internet and had social media on fire when he had Katt Williams let off a banana clip and air out the entertainment industry to start off 2024, but the man has done a few other pretty in-depth interviews with other celebrities and this time around he got to sit down with Atlanta’s current favorite son, 21 Savage.
Sitting down with the NFL Hall of Famer turned sports analyst turned entertainment journalist, 21 Savage opens up about his childhood and the impact his struggles had on his growth on the road to rap superstardom. A story so intriguing that everyone truly thought he was dropping a movie about his life.
From his experiences as a young immigrant from the UK getting accustomed to life in Atlanta to how getting shot shifted his focus to making music, 21 Savage gets into detail about many aspects of his life that many may not have been familiar with.
Here are the 8 things we learned from 21 Savage on Club Shay Shay.
Talking about when he first moved to Atlanta from London when he was 6 years old, 21 Savage says that his mother was actually coming to visit from friends in the Big Peach and wasn’t actually planning on staying for good. Ultimately, they ended up living here which almost ended up with 21 being deported back to the UK when the Trump administration was cracking down on illegal immigrants during his run as President.
21 Savage says he got into a fight on the first day of elementary school because of his accent. He said after he beat the kid up, everyone started calling him “taekwondo kid” because he kicked a lot during the fight (LMAO).
While he may not seem it due to his facial tattoos and G’d up demeanor, 21 says he was actually a good student in school and even won a spelling bee and math competition in elementary school and got straight A’s. Who would’ve thought? Still, he knew he couldn’t go to college and do other things because he was an immigrant and fell off in his studies knowing his ceiling would only be so high. Ultimately he ended up getting kicked out of school for bringing a gun to school.
Talking about his relationship with his father, 21 says that though he wasn’t there for him as a child, his father was a good dad to his other siblings who lived in the London, so he can’t call him a “bad” daddy. But it wasn’t until his little brother was killed in 2020 that he spoke to his father after 15 years of non-contact. Though he eventually forgave him for not being there, Savage says they still don’t talk because of “things he did as an adult that rubbed me the wrong way.”
Explaining why he tried football; Savage says he had to due to his probation which stated he had to participate in extracurricular activities in school. But because his mother couldn’t come up with the money to pay the dues, he only played one season in 9th grade and only hit the field three times.
Though he says that the older cats used to give him a dollar here and there to spit a few bars and even made a few songs with his homies as a young’n, 21 Savage says he didn’t really start taking rap seriously until after he got shot on his 21st birthday. That’s when he started putting money into his grind and now 10 years later and he’s one of the biggest names in the Hip-Hop game.
With many music artists selling their music catalogues for tens and hundreds of millions of dollars, 21 Savage says he would consider doing the same down the line unless he somehow ends up becoming a billionaire.
Keeping it a buck about the influence that Gucci Mane had on him growing up, 21 admits that the beef between Gucci and Young Jeezy had him hating Jeezy hard. “I used to be like ‘F*ck Jeezy! East side! Gucci!’” The revalation came after 21 left Jeezy off his Top 5 rappers from The A list. Of course Gucci Mane was up in his Mount Rushmore though.

Dave Chappelle isn’t happy with how Katt Williams bashed other Black comedians, voicing his opinion about it at a recent show in Hollywood.
Katt Williams’ recent podcast interview with Shannon Sharpe blasting other comedians like Cedric the Entertainer and Steve Harvey has sparked a lot of conversation and some dismay. It has rubbed Dave Chappelle the wrong way, and he spoke about it while appearing at MonDeRays, an event at the Hollywood Improv hosted by fellow comic DeRay Davis. “What part of the game is this? He ethered n**gas. He didn’t say anything about any of these white boys. None of these white boys function like that,” Chappelle said at the event Friday (Jan. 19).
“Katt is one of the best painters in the game. So why are you drawing ugly pictures of us? Stop. Hurt people hurt people, but I am a hurt person that never hurt people, and he does it all the time,” Chappelle said before going into an impression of Williams during the Club Shay Shay interview. “‘F**k this one, and f**k that one, and f**k this one,’” then adding in, “But, n**ga, I didn’t hear anything that you did wrong. He didn’t do nothin’ wrong? Katt didn’t do nothin’ wrong?… Katt was talking about s**t that n**gas did to other n**gas, but not about anything that n**gas did to him.”
The comedian questioned why Williams would air his grievances like that when “all of us are trying to be in a better situation.” Later adding: “If I told my story, it would break your heart… I lost everything and never, ever told on anybody, and this n**ga’s the arbiter of truth.” Davis attempted to interject to defend Williams by stating it was good for comedy (similar to a claim made by Marlon Wayans), but Chappelle would brush it aside.
“You know why I disagree? Because I put a special out the same day. It was fine. And this n***a came out [and said], ‘I read 6,000 books … what the f—k is you talking about?” Chappelle’s latest Netflix special, The Dreamer, premiered Dec. 31, 2023. It was notable that Chappelle’s words were captured by someone in the audience – the comedian has often employed a “no smartphones” policy at his performances in recent years. The Club Shay Shay interview with Katt Williams, which premiered Jan. 3, has 52 million viewers to date.

The latest episode of Shannon Sharpe’s podcast with Katt Williams was explosive, as he roasted Cedric The Entertainer and others while social media users raved.
On Wednesday (January 3), the latest episode of Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast aired featuring veteran comedian Katt Williams as his guest. And Williams did not disappoint, as he spoke from the heart throughout the nearly three-hour episode on numerous subjects including refuting Cedric The Entertainer’s claim that he didn’t steal a joke from him to use during the Kings of Comedy tour.
Williams at times had the National Football League Hall of Famer and co-host of ESPN’s First Take alternate between being speechless and unable to control his laughter during the episode as he spoke his mind. He addressed Cedric’s claim that he didn’t steal his joke by explaining that the two along with Steve Harvey had settled the beef before but he had to tell the truth publicly since The Neighborhood star lied. “I have watched all these low-brow comedians come here and disrespect you in your face and tell you straight-up lies,” he began. Williams would then roast Cedric The Entertainer mercilessly. “You don’t think he’s a good comedian?” Sharpe asked. “The world doesn’t think that, sir. I have 12 comedy specials, he has four comedy specials that are not available on Netflix or Tubi,” Katt Williams responded.
The veteran comedian wouldn’t let up as he roasted troubled actor Jonathan Majors, Steve Harvey, Kevin Hart, and others including Kim Kardashian during the episode. Williams was also characteristically upfront when Sharpe asked him about his life story, sharing his experiences about being homeless and also other facts not well known such as being a one-time member of the Nation of Islam while in Oakland, California as well as recalling his first time doing stand-up.
