As Shannon Sharpe is dealing with heavy sexual assault allegations, his First Take co-host Stephen A. Smith is defending him and raising the idea that Sharpe being hit with the allegations and some media reactions aren’t coincidental. “People have been after him since he did Katt Williams,” Smith said during his appearance on the Big Boy’s Neighborhood radio show. “They’ve been at his neck because of the numbers he produced and the success that it had and how he was able to ride that wave,” he added.

The ESPN personality was referring to the viral episode of the Club Shay Shay podcast, which aired last January featuring the comedian delivering unfiltered views on his career and other celebrities, drawing millions of viewers. “I’m not talking about what people are talking about and what they have to talk about, I’m talking about the zest with which they do it,” Smith continued, commenting on the growing public conversation about the allegations. “You see a joy that some people are having in going at him and that’s sad. You can talk about it, but we know the difference, in terms of the flavor that you’re bringing to an equation where you’re talking about somebody with glee and joy in your voice when you’re talking about the kind of predicament they’re in. And that’s what I’ve got a problem with.”

Sharpe, an NFL player turned analyst, was hit with a $50 million lawsuit by a victim known as Jane Doe who accused him of sexually assaulting her after they started dating in 2023. Shortly after that was publicized, another woman stepped forward to allege that the 56-year-old assaulted her in the past. Sharpe has since stepped away from his co-hosting duties on First Take.“To see the great things that he has been doing and to know the potential is out there for all of this to be derailed, I’m incredibly sad for him,” Smith said, touching on how this could impact Sharpe’s career and First Take. “I’m sad for us as a show ’cause we’re better with him than without him, but right now, it’s about him getting his house in order and doing what he can to get past all of this.”Check out the entire interview above.

Shannon Sharpe will step down from his obligations at ESPN as he and his legal team are fighting a $50 million lawsuit alleging sexual assault. The unnamed woman, named in the lawsuit as Jane Doe, is currently being represented by Tony Buzbee in the matter.

Shannon Sharpe, 56, is accused of sexual assault and battery by Jane Doe, whose legal team has named in a public statement. Doe is reportedly an OnlyFans model who says she met Sharpe in 2023 at a Los Angeles gym when she was 19.

With more details coming forth, including a filmed video statement earlier this week from Sharpe, the controversy began to grow by the minute as Buzbee’s side released text messages that could support Doe’s claims of rape and assault.

Taking to social media, Shannon Sharpe delivered a written statement announcing his move to step away from ESPN as this matter moves ahead.

“At this juncture[,] I am electing to step aside temporarily from my ESPN duties,” a portion of the statement reads. “I will be devoting this time to family, and responding and dealing with these false and disruptive allegations set against me.”

Sharpe contends that the relationship between him and Doe was consensual and is asking for Doe’s team to release all the documents and evidence connected to the lawsuit.

Shannon Sharpe was hit with a $50 million lawsuit by Jane Doe, who has since been revealed by the retired NFL great’s legal team. In the days since the bombshell lawsuit was made public, many are looking into how Shannon Sharpe is handling the matter.
Jane Doe is currently being represented by Texas attorney Tony Buzbee, who typically takes on high-profile cases involving celebrities. Buzbee’s credibility was recently put under question after unsuccessfully attempting to launch a lawsuit against Jay-Z amid Buzbee’s alleged personal issues.

Much isn’t known about Jane Doe, but according to what was found online, she is reportedly an OnlyFans model that Sharpe, 54, met at a Los Angeles gym in 2023 when she was 19. After agreeing to enter into a consensual physical relationship with Sharpe, Doe says things took an odd shift when she realized that the Hall of Fame quarterback took video footage of her performing a sexual act against her consent.
On Tuesday (April 22), Sharpe posted a video statement regarding the case and said that Doe is manipulating footage that paints him in an incorrect light. His legal team has previously fired back and said that Doe’s complaint is an attempt to get Sharpe to pay up and settle the $50 million lawsuit against him.

Online observers have taken notice of the three-decade age gap between Sharpe and Doe and also discovered that the popular podcaster has been accused of forcing a sexual act in 2023 by his girlfriend, Michele Evans. Last year, audio of Sharpe in the throes of passion was leaked online, an incident Sharpe has since apologized for and even flipped into an advertisement for a male sexual enhancement drug.
As referenced at the top of this article, Lanny J. Davis, Sharpe’s legal counsel, put together a statement that Sharpe shared on social media, which reportedly shows Doe’s full name. We’ll share that statement in the body of this post below.

While the credibility of Buzbee is tainted in the eyes of some, some are still wondering if the current legal moves made by Shannon Sharpe are the best course of action. The mudslinging is only ramping up as Doe reportedly released audio that depicts Sharape allegedly threatening her.

We combed through replies on X and will share the commentary we saw regarding this still-developing matter below.

Shannon Sharpe found his name trending this week after the former NFL star was hit with a $50 million lawsuit from a woman who alleges that Sharpe sexually assaulted her. In response, Shannon Sharpe’s legal team shared a series of explicit texts and framed the lawsuit as an orchestrated shakedown attempt by her legal counsel.
We would like to warn readers that the details described in this report might be disturbing to some. Do proceed carefully.

As seen on NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk site, Shannon Sharpe was hit with the lawsuit on Sunday (April 20) that was filed in Nevada, with the complaint from a Jane Doe alleging sexual assault, battery,  and inflicting emotional distress. Jane Doe said in the filing that she and Sharpe were in a “rocky consensual relationship” that lasted almost two years, according to reports. The woman also said that Sharpe recorded their encounters without her consent and that he shared the footage without her approval to do so.

The complaint added that when an allegedly leaked sexual encounter with another unnamed woman and Sharpe went viral, she took steps to dissolve their relationship. In October of last year, Jane Doe added that Sharpe came into contact with her after she attempted to end their relationship and that he allegedly forced himself on the woman. At the top of the year, Jane Doe said that during an encounter with Sharpe, she tried to get. him to use protection during sex, which he seemingly refused.
As this is a civil case and not a criminal matter, there would be just financial damages to be paid and no time behind bars for Sharpe, who currently runs a successful podcast and is part of ESPN’s First Take morning show team. Jane Doe is represented by Tony Buzbee and Michah Nash.
Sharpe’s attorney, Lanny Davis, issued a statement firing back at Jane Doe and named the woman who is accusing the Hall of Fame tight end. A portion of Davis’ statment read that the lawsuit is a “blatant and cynical attempt to shake down Mr. Sharpe for millions of dollars. It is filled with lies, distortions, and misrepresentations — and it will not succeed.”
The statement also included the explicit messages that Jane Doe allegedly exchanged between Sharpe and the woman, although the validity of the messages cannot be confirmed at this time.
Shannon Sharpe’s name is still trending on the X platform in the wake of the news. We’ve got reactions from all sides below.

Shannon Sharpe confirmed during an “emergency” episode of his Nightcap podcast with Chad Ochocinco Johnson that his Instagram account was not hacked.
Social media was in an uproar after clips from Sharpe’s accidental Instagram Live session hit timelines featuring the NFL Hall-of-Famer turned sports analyst and podcaster having sex with a woman named Michelle.
Sharpe initially wrote in his IG Stories, “Beware, my @shannonsharpe84 Instagram account was hacked. ” He later confirmed during the episode that this was false and that he mistakenly began sharing the encounter on Instagram Live.
See What Had Happened Was?
The Club Shay Shay host admitted to Ochocinco that he was “embarrassed” by the intimate moment, featuring him saying some pretty suggestive things and, at one point, growling, making its way onto Instagram Live.
“I came in, I threw my phone on the bed, engaged in an activity. I did not know IG Live. I’ve never been on IG Live, I’ve never turned IG Live on, so I don’t know how it works,” Sharpe explained.
He then revealed that his assistant shut down the live stream and posted the Instagram Stories post about his account being hacked.
Sharpe said he realized what happened after speaking with his marketing representative and learning precisely what happened on his Instagram account.
“My heart sank,” Sharpe said. “I called my agent, I called the agency, I called ESPN, and I [thought] just tell them the truth. My phone wasn’t hacked, it wasn’t a prank, it was me being a healthy, active male.”
Sharpe added that he was “very disappointed in myself” and had “let a lot of people down.” He continued, “Obviously, I’m embarrassed. [I’m] someone that is extremely, extremely private, and to have one of your most intimate details be audio heard for the entire world to hear, I’m embarrassed.”

Did Shannon Sharpe Stage This Incident?
The two managed to make light of the situation, with Ochocinco pointing to all of the hilarious chatter on X, formerly Twitter. Sharpe even had t-shirts quickly made up to capitalize on his mistake and pushed boner pills during the episode.
Some even believe that Sharpe knew what he was doing, pointing out that there are many steps to starting an Instagram Live session.
Cam’ron believes Sharpe staged the whole incident and points to a plethora of things that Sharpe did during and after it.
Interesting.
Staged or not, the internets is still talking. You can see those reactions in the gallery below.

Shannon Sharpe will have to explain to the higher-ups at Disney/ESPN what happened during a live session on his Instagram page.
The former NFL pro turned ESPN First Take co-host, and now popular podcaster has taken all the attention off Lil Wayne not performing at the Super Bowl, Donald Trump getting smoked by Kamala Harris at the debate, and PS5 Pro’s price.
Shannon Sharpe’s Instagram followers had no idea that when they clicked on his Instagram Live session, they would get a front-row seat to a pound session.
While you can’t see Sharpe and the woman in the video, you can hear someone who many believe sounds like him handling business.
Sharpe’s phone rings off the hook during the “accidental live session.” A friend or someone in his close orbit was likely calling him to let him know what was going on his Instagram page.
We won’t be sharing the clips here, but they have since gone viral on X, formerly Twitter. Folks are already saying he is about to suffer the same fate as Paul Pierce, who is currently giving god-awful sports takes on Fox Sports after he was let go by ESPN after he went live on his IG page with strippers.

Nobody Is Buying What Shannon Sharpe Is Selling
Sharpe has since responded, claiming his account was “hacked.”
“Beware, my @Shannonsharpe84 page was hacked this morning, my team and I are working vigorously to figure this out. — UNC.”
Unfortunately, social media does not buy what Sharpe is selling.

Another hilarious post on X read, “Shannon Sharpe was in there grunting and growling like a Cane Corso but wants us to believe he got hacked. ”
Welp.
We are very intrigued to see how this will play out. You can see more reactions in the gallery below.

Brett Favre is still salty about Shannon Sharpe talking about his alleged involvement in a Mississippi welfare scandal.
Lawyers for Hall of Fame retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre will ask a federal appeals court on Tuesday to reinstate a defamation lawsuit against fellow Hall of Famer, turned media mogul Shannon Sharpe.
A Mississippi federal judge threw out the lawsuit in October on the grounds that Sharpe “used constitutionally protected speech on a sports broadcast when he criticized Favre’s connection to the welfare misspending case,” per The Grio’s reporting.
Favre hopes to get a lick back by asking the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reinstate the lawsuit.
The former Green Bay Packers quarterback is still BIG MAD because Sharpe said that Favre was “taking from the underserved,” adding he “stole money from people that really needed that money,” further adding that you must be a real sorry individual “to steal from the lowest of the low,” during a past episode of Undisputed, the Fox Sports sport’s debate show Sharpe used to co-host with Skip Bayless.
Brett Favre Was Allegedly Taking Money Out of The Pockets of The Needy
According to Mississippi State Auditor Shad White, the Mississippi Department of Human Services misused more than $77 million from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program from 2016 to 2019.
Those funds are supposed to help the natives of Mississippi, specifically Black folk in the state because they are considered some of the poorest people in the United States.
During his investigation, White found that Favre was the recipient of an improper payment of $1.1 million for speaking fees from a nonprofit organization that spent money from the TANF with approval from the Department of Human Services.
$5 million was also allotted to the University of Mississippi, Favre’s alma mater and where his daughter attended, to build a volleyball arena.
Farve did pay back the $1.1 million, but according to White in a February court filing still owes  $729,790 accrued interest.
The Super Bowl-winning quarterback and current Mississippi native has denied all charges and is not facing any criminal charges.
Favre might be innocent in the eyes of the law, but in the court of opinion that is Black Xitter, he is guilty as charged.
You can see those reactions in the gallery below.

Shannon Sharpe didn’t waste the opportunity to apologize to Megan The Stallion face-to-face.
Sharpe continues to land prominent guests on his Club Shay Shay podcast in 2024, with Megan Thee Stallion being the latest celebrity to sit across from the First Take host and former NFL star.
After a fantastic introduction where he rang off the Houston Hip-Hop star’s long and still growing list of accomplishments, Sharpe took a moment to apologize for egregiously horny comments he made about Thee Stallion.
What Shannon Sharpe Originally Said To Warrant An Apology
For those who need a refresher, on an episode of his other popular podcast, Nightcap with Chad Ocho Cinco Johnson, Sharpe delivered some sexually suggestive comments.
“I’d have her stretched out like quarter to three,” Sharpe said before adding: “I do it three ways, Ocho: deep, hard, and continuously … I’d have her opening up like saloon doors.”
Yikes.
Thee Stallions loyal fans, the Hotties, wasted no time packing the 55-year-old Hall-of-Famer, which led to him apologizing on another Nightcap episode.

UNC wasn’t done apologizing. Before his sitdown interview, he expressed more regret for BIG HORNY telling the “HISS” crafter:
“For any unwanted attention, harm, shame, embarrassment that I caused you or your family, I wanna say as a man, as I sit here before you, I apologize. You’ve been amazing, and you have an amazing career going forward.”
Megan Thee Stallion graciously accepted his apology, and the two enjoyed a shot of his cognac.

The Hotties also appreciated Sharpe’s apology to their leader.
“I appreciate Shannon taking responsibility. This is so important. It’s what Meg deserves. Happy to see her have this platform and be comfortable,” one person on X, formerly Twitter, wrote.
Good on Unc for apologizing. You can see more reactions in the gallery below.

For the foreseeable future, Shannon Sharpe will continue to accidentally call Stephen A. Smith his old debate partner, Skip Bayless, on ESPN’s First Take.
Spotted on Deadline, ESPN announced on Tuesday that it had inked a multiyear deal with Hall of Famer and three-time Super Bowl champion Shannon Sharpe.

The new deal comes less than a year after Sharpe left Bayless and FS1 for greener pastures at ESPN.

As part of his new deal with the Disney-owned sports network, Sharpe will expand his role on the popular debate show First Take, keeping him alongside mainstays Stephen A. Smith and moderator Molly Qerim.
Sharpe brought his flair for debate to the program in August 2023, and it has since experienced its most-viewed May ever.
ESPN also notes that Sharpe will now be a part of other programming on the channel.
Per Deadline:
“Shannon Sharpe has been an incredible addition to the First Take team, enhancing the show’s dynamic with his engaging presence and insightful commentary,” said David Roberts, ESPN’s Head of Event & Studio Production, in a statement today about the new deal, the terms of which were not disclosed. “Shannon’s chemistry with Stephen A. Smith has elevated our debates and been another key reason First Take is the premier destination for morning sports discussion.”
Shannon Sharpe’s Stock Continues To Rise
Sharpe’s media stock has risen immensely since leaving Skip Bayless and his failing show, Undisputed.
His podcast Club Shay Shay has had some of the biggest interviews on the net, thanks to guests like Katt Williams, Amanda Seales, and, most recently, Ray J.
Sharpe also has a podcast with fellow retired NFL superstar Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson called Night Cap, where they opine on various topics, including sports, entertainment, and other social commentary.
With his newfound popularity, Sharpe has also been criticized for some of his controversial takes on Club Shay Shay and Night Cap, and his lack of interviewing skills is also the subject of debate on social media.
Uncle Shannon continues to secure the bag, and we will never be mad at a Black man for getting some coins.

Shaquille O’Neal and Shannon Sharpe are legends of their respective sports and men of strong opinions as evidenced by their ongoing broadcast careers. After the legendary NBA big man seemingly stepped on Nikola Jokic‘s MVP nod, the former tight end shared some thoughts that sparked a spicy response from The Big Aristotle.
During a segment on Inside The NBA this past Wednesday (May 8), Shaquille O’Neal said to Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokick that he didn’t deserve to win his third Most Valuable Player, which Jokic graciously sidestepped without pushback. Shaq’s favorite for the award, along with several other analysts, was Oklahoma City Thunder superstar guard, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Shannon Sharpe and Chad OchoCinco joined together for their Nightcap broadcast where Sharpe, who is a three-time Super Bowl champion with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens and a Football Hall of Fame inductee, pushed back at Shaq speaking ill of another player’s greatness. During the segment on Jokic, Sharpe suggested that Shaq didn’t want to praise the Serbian big man as he’s won the MVP title three times out of the past four years, with the Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid winning in that timespan.

Shaq caught wind of Sharpe’s words and went a fiery Instagram rant that some felt went overboard.
From IG:
you took me sticking up @shai ask jealousy of joker. shows how smart you are and how you say anything to get clicks. so here’s some click bait for you. if you ain’t ranked in the top ten in your profession , then you can’t speak on Me. don’t forget i know what you did to get were you at. me jealous, sounds like you jealous. i kno you tryna stay relevant by gossiping on your podcast. we don’t believe you. you need more people and in case you forgot. 4 rings three finals Mvp top 50 and top 75. google me. and to b quite frank all this new success you got, you still under me. u don’t kno my work ethic. but according i work less than you but im worth more than you. make it make sense. love you to. if you need help making money it’s better ways than gossiping. i’m to old for this shit love always the most dominant big man ever who never took it serious. remember i don’t know you. and in the words of @skipbayless im better than you. #g14classification i have it, you don’t, not in my profession. and your goat debate , never wanted to be the goat i wanted to be who you should greet me as THE MOST DOMINANT EVER. #theapexpredator

Sharpe, never one to back away from anyone, fired back at Shaq but didn’t return the vitriol. Instead, Unc Shannon spoke in a measured tone, expressed humility, and explained that he’s never declared himself the best in his position despite the accolades and honors he’s earned. He even deferred to other tight ends in the league.
