Oscar winner Roger Ross Williams directs the film starring Gael García Bernal as the famous Mexican-American fighter who transformed Mexico’s Mexico’s lucha libre. The movie marks the first narrative-type project that Williams has done and is an expansion to his documentary short, The Man Without A Mask.

Now, viewers get a deeper look into the story behind the man without a mask: Saúl Armendáriz — the real-life gay wrestler who fought for queer men’s rights in a hyper-masculine sport and culture during the ’80s and ’90s. It examines his life as an amateur wrestler from El Paso and how he rises to international fame for his creation of the character Cassandro — A.K.A the “Liberace of Lucha Libre.”

Who is Bad Bunny in the film? The singer plays the small drug dealer Felipe who, at one point, shares a steamy kiss with Bernal’s character.

Other cast members you can look forward to seeing include Roberta Colindrez, Perla De La Rosa, Raúl Castillo and Joaquín Cosio.
