Billie Eilish was joined by some special guests at her concert Friday night (Dec. 16) at the Kia Forum: Childish Gambino and Khalid.

The show — Eilish’s last scheduled for 2022, before the Happier Than Ever world tour picks up again in March 2023 — was her third of a trio of hometown dates at the Los Angeles venue. Being just two days before her Dec. 18 birthday, Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) took a moment to wish her a happy birthday with the crowd.

He also performed his Grammy-winning song “Redbone” from his 2016 album Awaken, My Love!

Khalid took the stage with Eilish elsewhere during the concert, for both his 2018 “Lovely” collaboration with Eilish and his own 2016 single “Location.”

The night prior, Eilish’s concert at the Kia Forum had featured a special duet of the 1998 Foo Fighters hit “My Hero” with Dave Grohl, in tribute to the late Taylor Hawkins, as well as an appearance from Phoebe Bridgers for a duet of her 2017 breakthrough song “Motion Sickness.”

With 18 years in the industry, Super Junior have much to celebrate this holiday season and they’re showing their appreciation with a seasonal new song to say thank you.

“Celebrate” is the feel-good, synth-pop single from the veteran boy band that expresses gratitude for memories made together, hopes to continually return to this feeling every winter season, and their wish to dance and party in celebration.

In the wintry music video, members Leeteuk, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Ryeowook, Siwon, Heechul, Yesung, Donghae and Kyuhyun intertwine themselves in cute Christmas scenes from pairs ranging from young kids to senior citizens. By the end of the video, we see everyone take part in the same Christmas dinner and family photo to connect to the song’s message of happily reuniting every holiday season.

Notably, it’s particularly admirable to see the range of ages represented in the music video when most visuals in K-pop focus only on spotlighting young people in their primes. No doubt the decision came in large part of recognizing Super Junior’s impact across generations as they near two decades on the scene.

As the final chapter in Super Junior’s three-part EP rollout for their 11th album, The Road : Celebration comes with five tracks that include several sonic gifts for fans. There’s an “anti-carol” in the harmony-heavy “Hate Christmas,” a dive into country music with “Snowman,” plus SuJu’s take on the ’90s K-pop hit “White Love,” originally released by Korean dance outfit Turbo.

Even before BTS‘ official debut, the group was recording and sharing personal and intimate moments with their fans so, naturally, ARMY got a glimpse into Jin‘s big day of enlisting in South Korea’s military service.

All six of Jin’s band mates came to send him off to the Yeoncheon army base, located north of Seoul and just a few miles 10 miles from the Demilitarized Zone separating South and North Korea. BTS managed to avoid the crowds gathered at the base (which reportedly included dozens of journalists and security staff, plus a handful of fans) and enjoyed some quiet time with Jin.

Soundtracked to BTS’ new Proof song “For Youth,” the three-minute clip shows the stars cracking jokes, posing for photos and selfies, and the guys getting a kick out of rubbing their hands through Jin’s newly buzzed hair.

Of course, Jin shared a message for fans before heading off: “Health is a top priority so I won’t get sick, and I hope you stay healthy too, ARMY.”

Viewers then saw RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook proudly watch Jin join his fellow recruits and give the first salute of his military service.

RM shared some additional thoughts at the end of the video that spoke to his nurturing side as the group leader. “Jin hates the cold so I’m a bit worried,” the “Wild Flower” star said. “But we’ll follow him soon. I don’t feel great sending him off, but he always does well wherever he is, so I’m sure he’ll do well. It’s sad, but this is everyone’s duty.”

Per South Korean law, all able-bodied men must serve in the armed forces for at least 18 months with varying lengths of service time. The BTS members shared earlier this year that they will all serve in the coming months with plans to reunite in 2025.

And while it’s known that Margot Robbie stars as the iconic blonde doll, and Ryan Gosling will take on the role of her handsome boyfriend Ken, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the official Instagram for the film was following 15 people involved with the movie — including Dua Lipa.

Eagle-eyed fans who noticed began to speculate what the “Levitating” singer’s involvement in the film might be, with the most popular theory being that she’s contributing a song to Barbie‘s soundtrack. However, neither Lipa or the film confirmed any collaboration, and the Instagram account quickly unfollowed the pop star amid the buzz.

Director Greta Gerwig co-wrote the script for the Warner Bros. film with Noah Baumbach. Besides Robbie and Gosling, the jam-packed cast also includes Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa and America Ferrera.

The new, 75-second teaser pays tribute to Stanley Kubrick’s iconic 1968 outer space drama 2001: A Space Odyssey. “Since the beginning of time, since the first little girl ever existed, there have been… dolls,” says a narrator over sunrise scenes in the desert, as a group of girls play with their baby dolls in the dusty expanse. Our narrator continues, “But the dolls were always and forever baby dolls… until,” at which point we see the first glimpse of the towering Barbie posing in white sunglasses and a striped one-piece bathing suit, tilting her shades down to give the girls a wink.

Olivia Rodrigo shared a Christmas surprise Friday (Dec. 16) in the form of “The Bels,” the original holiday song she wrote when she was just 5 years old.

Even as a kindgartener, the pop sensation shows she had an early knack for rhyming as she sings, “Red and green is the Christmas queen/ Make the holidays special to me/ Oh, see the dancing gingerbread dance in your head/ Wait, wait, wait for the bells to ring there” over a beat perfect for sugar plum fairies.

Rodrigo also shared a note to her fans on her website along with the cute track, writing, “Hi guys!!! Hope everyone is doing well! I miss you guys! It’s been getting cold in LA & things are slowing down for the holidays. I put my little silver Christmas tree up in my living room & it makes me super happy. I’m so excited for the new year & everything that’s in store! I hope you guys have a holiday season filled with love & relaxation. Thinking of you always! All my love, Liv.”

For the past month, fans have been buzzing online that new music could be on the way from Rodrigo in the new year, based on the fan message she sent her top Spotify listeners as part of Spotify Wrapped 2022.

In November, the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star performed “You’re So Vain” at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony to induct Carly Simon as part of the Class of ’22.

Sure, Halloween is long gone and we’re actually just nine days away from Christmas, but Katy Perry isn’t putting a good costume to waste.
The “Harleys in Hawaii” singer took to Instagram on Friday (Dec. 16) to share a series of photos, two of which she’s dressed in a life-sized ginger root costume and the third is a photo of a Bragg organic apple cider vinegar prebiotic shot that is filled with turmeric and, you guessed it, ginger.

“Picture of health,” Perry cleverly captioned the post, leading to confusion among fans in the comments section. “Why are you like this,” one fan joked, while another wrote, “u ate and left no ginger.”

Some fans are also speculating that the photoshoot might be related to an upcoming music video. In September, the pop superstar joined Drew Barrymore on the actress’ eponymous talk show, where she hinted at making new music.

“I’ll probably go and make another record soon and write it and tour the world after this, which will be so great,” Perry shared as Barrymore let out a gasp. “But I’m pretty, like, even offstage. I’m more, like, businesswoman; I don’t talk a lot offstage. … I’m very, kind of, an observer. I really save my energy for when I have to go and turn it on. ‘Cause when I turn it on, it’s up to 11, girl.”

A new album would be a follow-up to the American Idol judge‘s sixth studio effort Smile, which was released in the summer of 2020 and contained the singles “Daisies,” “Smile” and “Not the End of the World.”

SEVENTEEN performed at Penske Media’s LA3C festival last weekend, and while they were there, Joshua, Dino and Mingyu chatted exclusively with Billboard News about their love for the holidays and what fans can expect from the group in 2023.
Speaking to Billboard‘s Tetris Kelly, the trio dished on their recent world tour, winning best dance performance male at the 2022 MAMAs, and releasing their new calendar for fans just in time for the holiday season.

“Favorite part of the holidays for me, personally, like, Christmas, I just love the energy, the music that plays and just, like, the overall vibe of Christmas,” Joshua said, while Dino added, “There are lots of festivals and year-end shows like LA3C that happen during the holiday season, and performing as a part of those events is one of my favorite things during the holidays.”

And while Christmas is still more than a week away, the K-pop idols are already looking forward to a bright and busy new year. “I just want all of us to be healthy, I think that’s the most important,” Joshua said after he and several of his bandmates each missed different tour stops due to COVID. “And we want to meet as much CARATs as possible.”

“Just like we did this year, we will come back with fresh music and, how should I put it? Music and performances that are more truthful to who we are,” Dino jumped in, while Mingyu was quick to add, “Please let everyone know they can look forward to everything we’re doing next year!”

LA3C is Penske Media Corporation’s new music, art and food festival celebrating Los Angeles’ culture and diversity, which took place Dec. 10-11 at Los Angeles State Historic Park. PMC is the parent company of Billboard.

Cheers to more escapades! Janet Jackson visited the TODAY show on Friday (Dec. 16) to discuss her upcoming tour, plans for new music and more.

During the chat, the famously soft-spoken superstar was even quieter than usual, on account of losing her voice, but that didn’t stop her from spilling the tea. “I feel great, we’re so excited,” she said of preparations for Janet Jackson: Together Again. “It’s gonna be a fun time with Ludacris as a special guest … You know, I’ve never done it with him before, so he’s a great fit. Thought it would be a lot of fun.”

Jackson also confirmed she has new music on the way. “There is,” she told the panel of hosts with a laugh. “There is new music. A lot of the fans have been saying, ‘Where’s the new music? When are we gonna get new music?’ So there will be new music.”

While the singer didn’t specify a release date or other details, any new music would be her first since releasing her eleventh studio album, Unbreakable, in 2015 and her 2018 one-off, “Made For Now,” with Daddy Yankee.

Jackson also extended an invitation for co-host Sheinelle Jones to join her after seeing a clip the TODAY anchor perform “Rhythm Nation” in full costume. “I’m looking for someone to come on stage and dance with me for a song or two,” she said. “I was serious about you coming on stage.”

Janet’s tour will kick off April 14 in Hollywood, Fla., and runs through June 21, when it will close with a show in Seattle. Watch Janet’s full talk with TODAY above.

TOMORROW X TOGETHER‘s EP officially has a release date and a longer title to match. After teasing the mini album in a surreal concept trailer on Dec. 2, the K-pop group — which consists of members Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Hueningkai — revealed on Friday (Dec. 16) when The Name Chapter will be released through a handy schedule of events.

The project, officially titled The Name Chapter: Temptation, will be released on Jan. 27. Leading up to the mini album’s arrival, several concept teasers will be rolled out in early January. The album’s tracklist and official poster will be dropped on Jan. 19, while the album preview will arrive on Jan. 22. Two teasers for the project’s lead single will be shared on Jan. 24-25. Following the album’s release, the K-pop group will perform a special showcase on Jan. 28.

The Name Chapter: Temptation will be the first music release the quintet has released since the arrival of its fourth mini EP, minisode 2: Thursday’s Child. That project was a hit for the K-pop stars. It spent a total of 14 weeks on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, where it peaked at No. 4. The project achieved even more success on the Top Current Album Sales chart, where it spent 20 weeks on the tally and hit No. 1.

Speaking about Thursday’s Child in a May interview with Billboard, Soobin looked ahead to the future. “As we have more years and even more albums under our belts, we’re getting better outcomes and better numbers,” he said. “We have [also] tried many genres in music. As we work on more and more albums, [I feel like] we don’t have any limits. We’ve taken this musical journey step by step.”

We’re officially less than 10 days from Christmas, and new music remains the gift that keeps on giving. This week, everyone from Rosalía and Cardi B to The Weeknd dropped new songs, and we want to know which release you love the most.

The Weeknd unveiled “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” just in time for the premiere of Avatar: The Way of Water. The grandiose ballad, which plays over the end credits of the long-awaited alien sequel from James Cameron, was produced by Swedish House Mafia and takes a sonic cue from Gerard McCann’s “Cry Little Sister” from the 1987 cult classic The Lost Boys as The Weeknd sings, “I thought I could protect you from paying for my sins/ And I been walking this earth long enough that that’s a gift.”

Rosalía reinvents her MOTOMAMI smash “DESPECHÁ” by enlisting none other than Cardi B on the official remix. Cardi jumps into the groove headfirst, taking over both of the song’s verses and the cooing, dual language refrain of “Baby, please don’t call me/ Why you on my line? ‘Cause I got a new body?/ I have decided que voy pa’ la calle/ With all my motomamis y no hay quién me pare.“

As far as new albums go, Little Simz followed up her 2021 breakthrough Sometimes I Might Be an Introvert with her fifth studio album NO THANK YOU. Meanwhile, Juice WRLD‘s latest posthumous release arrives in the form of “Face 2 Face,” rising girl group FLO builds on the momentum they’ve earned throughout 2022 with their latest single “Losing You,” and PinkPantheress finally crosses the three-minute mark with new synth-pop banger “Take Me Home.”
