Olivia Rodrigo Spills Her ‘Guts’ On New Album: Stream It Now

Olivia Rodrigo’s new album is here, and it’s only “logical” that you hit play as soon as possible. Guts, the sophomore studio effort from the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star, officially arrived on Friday, Sept. 8.

Rodrigo has been teasing the follow-up to Sour for over a year now. After dropping Easter eggs in Spotify canvases and teasing fans with seconds-long snippets, she unleashed lead single “Vampire” on June 30. The single became Rodrigo’s third to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100, and has since spent nearly every week post-release in the chart’s top 10. A promotional single titled “Bad Idea Right?” followed on Aug. 11. That song featured a markedly more frantic tempo to complement the ballad-rock opera fusion that was “Vampire.” “Bad Idea Right?” entered Hot Rock & Alternative Songs at No. 1, becoming her second overall entry and second No. 1 single on the chart.

Guts marks the reunion of Rodrigo and Sour collaborator Dan Nigro; Rodrigo is a credited writer on each of the album’s twelve tracks, and Nigro is a credited producer on each track as well. With Sour, Rodrigo and Nigo struck gold. The album won thee Grammys (including best pop vocal album), spent five weeks atop the Billboard 200, and spawned the Hot 100 No. 1 singles “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U.” The tracklist for Guts, in addition to the aforementioned singles, includes eye-popping titles such as “All-American Bitch” and “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl.”

In just a few days (Sep. 12), Rodrigo will perform at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. This year, the “Traitor” singer boasts six nominations, including video of the year, song of the year and best pop (all for “Vampire”). In 2021, she won three Moonpeople, including best new artist and song of the year (“Drivers License”).

Rodrigo has 14 entries on the Hot 100, including six top ten hits: “Drivers License” (No. 1), “Good 4 U” (No. 1), “Vampire” (No. 1), “Deja Vu” (No. 3), “Traitor” (No. 9) and “Bad Idea Right?” (No. 10). On the Artist 100, she has spent six overall weeks at the summit.

Marion Cotillard in Shambles Over Joe Jonas & Sophie Turner Divorce: See Her Viral Comment

Ever since Joe Jonas officially filed for divorce from Sophie Turner on Tuesday (Sept. 5), the Internet discourse has been overrun with speculation, rumors and dismay from Jonas Brothers fans. As it turns out, one such distraught fan was none other than Academy Award-winning French actress Marion Cotillard, who summed up her dismay at the news in a now-viral Instagram comment.

When Entertainment Tonight posted a report that Joe Jonas had hired a divorce attorney on Monday, the La Vie En Rose star shared her succinct, if somewhat dramatic, thoughts on the situation: “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! NO! NO! NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!” she wrote.

Fans immediately jumped on the bandwagon, letting the actress know in the comments that they were feeling the exact same way. Others took to Twitter, baffled by the actress’ outburst. “I can’t think of anything but Marion Cotillard typing this out,” MTV host Josh Horowitz wrote.

The Miami-Dade County-filed petition for dissolution of marriage stated that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken,” while advocating for a shared custody agreement of Jonas and Turner’s two children. “It is in the best interests of the minor children that the parties have shared parental responsibility,” the petition reads.

The day after the petition was filed, Jonas and Turner shared a joint statement via Instagram, saying that the decision to split up was arrived at “mutually” and “amicably.” They also appeared to address ongoing speculation from fans and media outlets like TMZ, saying that “there are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”

Here’s Why Fans Think Olivia Rodrigo Is Releasing 4 Bonus Songs on a ‘Guts’ Deluxe: See the Titles

Olivia Rodrigo might just have four extra songs in store following the release of her sophomore album Guts — which, at the time of publication, is less than 24 hours away.

Out Friday (Sept. 8) at midnight, Guts already has a confirmed 12 songs on its standard track list, which includes the previously released singles “Vampire” and “Bad Idea Right?” But fans think they may have spotted four additional song titles hidden in a faux infomercial filmed by Rodrigo promoting her fast-approaching LP, posted on her official YouTube channel Wednesday (Sept. 6).

The parody infomercial recommends Guts to people who “regularly suffer from the agony” of spilling their guts to strangers or who struggle with trusting their guts. Around the 23-second mark, the album’s tracklist appears onscreen and scrolls from top to bottom.

At first glance, it looks just like the same tracklist confirmed by Rodrigo earlier this summer. But then, at the 26-second mark, the screen glitches for just a split second, quickly revealing what look to be the titles of four new tracks before they disappear: “Obsessed,” “Scared of My Guitar,” “Stranger” and “Girl I’ve Always Been.”

Some of these new titles perfectly match the clues Rodrigo hid in a cryptic tracklist teaser posted in July, particularly “Obsessed” and “Stranger.”

“GUTS DELUXE IS COMING,” tweeted one fan, reposting the infomercial on Twitter.

“GUTS DELUXE IS ABOUT TO CHANGE MY LIFE,” wrote another.

Guts will mark Rodrigo’s first LP since Sour, her 2021 debut that catapulted her to superstardom with No. 1 hits “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U.” She’s already scored another No. 1 with Guts, thanks to its smash lead single “Vampire,” released in June.

In a recent conversation with Phoebe Bridgers for Interview magazine, the 20-year-old star opened up about what she’s doing differently this time around. Alluding to her desire to avoid a repeat of the Joshua Bassett/Sabrina Carpenter drama sparked by the success of “Drivers License,” she told Bridgers that she now feels a responsibility to send her songs to their subjects before releasing them.

“I feel like last time, there was so much weird media s–t and I had no idea how to deal with any of it,” she reflected. “Literally, it was the first song out of the gate and all of that s–t happened. I felt so ill-equipped … That was an overwhelming experience, but now I definitely feel a responsibility [to give a heads up].”

See if you can spot the four rumored deluxe tracks in Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts infomercial above.

Charlie Puth Announces Engagement to Brooke Sansone: ‘I Love You Endlessly Forever and Ever and Ever’

Charlie Puth is off the market. The “Light Switch” singer announced in an Instagram post on Thursday morning (Sept. 7) that he popped the question to fiancée Brooke Sansone and, of course she said yes.

“I flew to New York to ask my best friend to marry me, and she said yes. I am the happiest, best version of myself and it is all because of you Brookie,” Puth wrote in the post in which a smiling Sansone sits next to her beloved as they toast the good news with a glass of wine while seemingly sharing their joy with someone on the phone. “I love you endlessly forever and ever and ever,” Puth added in the post that also casually featured a close-up snap of Sansone grabbing a slice of NY pizza while showing off her impressively sized teardrop-shaped diamond. The couple made their red carpet debut at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party in Los Angeles in February.

In another snap, the happy couple — who made it Instagram official in December on Charlie’s 31st birthday — share a piece of pepperoni pie at Lucali’s in Brooklyn, Lady and the Tramp-style. Back in October, Puth told Howard Stern that he was “definitely” in love with someone from his past, telling the SiriusXM host that he was “with somebody now.” At the time, Puth said that his girlfriend was “someone that I grew up with” in New Jersey.

“As my life gets more turbulent and I travel everywhere,” Charlie told Stern, “it’s nice to have someone close to you that you’ve known for a very long time.” Puth didn’t say much about his beloved at the time, but he did tell Stern that if he decided to get engaged he’d probably keep it on the down low. “If I do certainly the media won’t know about it,” he said. “And I’ll go out of my way to make sure that they don’t know about it because it becomes too much.”

Puth dropped “Lipstick,” the first single from his upcoming studio album in August; the follow-up to 2022’s Charlie does not yet have a release date.

Doja Cat Explains Those Cryptic Neck Brace Photos: ‘I’m Literally Fine’

Is it a crime to want a little bit of “Attention?” After sharing photos of herself in neck brace in a pair of Instagram posts on Wednesday (Sep. 6), Doja Cat has revealed that her neck is perfectly fine.

“So, my friend here, my date, my lovely date got whiplash and he takes it off sometimes and I stole it from him. I’m literally fine. Completely fine, my neck is great,” Doja explained to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet for The Victoria’s Secret World Tour Wednesday night. In a way, the “Say So” rapper was honest from the start — she originally shared those pictures with the caption “I’m fine my neck is fine.”

On Aug. 3, Victoria’s Secret announced that Doja Cat will be headlining The Victoria’s Secret World Tour, which marks the company’s return to TV since its last televised runway show in 2018. The part fashion show, part documentary is set to air on Prime Video on Sept. 26. The Tour ’23 is just one major performance on the horizon for the “Kiss Me More” singer.

On Sept. 12, Doja Cat will take the stage at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. The Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper boasts six nominations at this year’s ceremony, including artist of the year, video of the year (“Attention”) and song of the summer (“Paint the Town Red”). In 2021, she served as the show’s host and won two Moonpeople.

These two high-profile performances are in support of Scarlet, Doja’s forthcoming fourth studio album. The follow-up to 2021’s Grammy-winning Planet Her, Scarlet boasts a trio of pre-release singles. In addition to “Attention,” which peaked at No. 31 on the Hot 100, Doja also released “Paint the Town Red,” the album’s current radio single, which reached a new peak of No. 3 on the Hot 100 this week (chart dated Sep. 9), and a promotional single titled “Demons,” which features a music video starring Emmy-nominated Yellowjackets actress Christina Ricci.

Doja’s trolling antics come amid an album campaign that has largely been characterized by her testy relationship with fame, media, fans and controversy. In May of this year, she said her two recent albums — Planet Her and 2019’s Hot Pink — were “cash grabs” featuring “mediocre pop,” before taunting, “yall fell for it.” There was also an erratic since-deleted Threads spree lambasting her fanbase, which cost her nearly 300,000 followers. “My fans don’t get to name themselves s–t,” she allegedly said. “If you call yourself a ‘Kitten’ or f–king ‘Kittenz’ that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house.”

By Aug. 31, Doja revealed an updated album cover for Scarlet after changing the artwork once fans noticed that German hardcore band Chaver also used the same spider on the artwork for their upcoming album cover.

Scarlet is currently slated for a Sep. 22 release.

Olivia Rodrigo Celebrates Summer’s End (And Her ‘Guts’ Album) With Jeni’s Ice Cream Weekend Takeover

You wouldn’t know it from the triple-digit temperatures that are still broiling across the country, but Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream and Olivia Rodrigo have teamed up to celebrate summer’s end with a special ice cream stunt this weekend. The sweet treats company announced on Wednesday (Sept. 6) that it’s rolling out an Olivia Rodrigo cone takeover this Friday (Sept. 8) through Sunday (Sept. 10) in all its shops across the U.S.

“This weekend only! We’re turning all Buttercrisp Waffle Cones & Bowls purple to celebrate @oliviarodrigo’s new album GUTS (drops Friday, 9/8),” read an Instagram post announcing the promotion that feature special purple cones; click here to find a Jeni’s near you. The ice cream company teased the collab earlier this week in an Insta post featuring purple batter being poured into a waffle iron while promising a “super-special, shop-only collab this weekend.”

Rodrigo’s second album, Guts, is due out on Friday, more than two years after her Grammy-winning debut, Sour, made the Bizaardvark and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series into a chart superstar thanks to her debut single “Drivers License,” as well as hits “Deja Vu” and “Good 4 U.” The singer has previewed Guts with the singles “Vampire” and “Bad Idea Right?”

Rodrigo recently tamped down talk that the lacerating “Vampire” could be about Taylor Swift after fans speculated that the song about a “bloodsucker, famef—er” might be aimed at one of Olivia’s childhood music idols. “How do I answer this?” Rodrigo reportedly whispered to Guardian journalist Laura Snapes, when the question about “Vampire” arose during an interview ahead of the Sept. 8 release of Guts.

“I mean, I never want to say who any of my songs are about,” she said. “I’ve never done that before in my career and probably won’t. I think it’s better to not pigeonhole a song to being about this one thing. I was very surprised when people thought that.”

Blink-182 Appear to Tease New Music With Mystery Website and Lyric Posters

Blink-182 are up to… something. The pop-punk trio posted a mysterious new video on their official site on Wednesday (Sept. 6) and fans have spotted posters in a number of cities that seem to hint at a new single. The latter reportedly feature the Blink logo and the line “One more time…”

A snap of a set of posters one fan found in a Toronto store window reportedly have what seem like lyrics that read: “Do I have to die to hear you miss me?/ Do I have to die to hear you say goodbye?/ I don’t want to act like there’s tomorrow/ I don’t want to wait to do this one more time.”

Adding to the speculation that the reunited group are prepping a follow-up to their late 2022 comeback single, “Edging,” is a revamped official site which now opens with a note that says “Site closed for maintenance.” But if you click on the box that says “okay,” it leads you to a colorful page where a figure in a yellow hazmat suit and gas mask wearing headphones is busy dancing around and scrubbing various messages off a dirty bathroom wall.

The wall features a band logo, the words “crappy punk rock,” “a pink TV playing classic Blink concert footage and the apparent lyrics “I don’t feel pain/ But I feel more than you’d ever know.” As the scrubber listens to what sounds like a new Blink riff on the headphones, they slowly erase all the messages on the wall while tuning the TV and cueing up a clock that blinks “12:00” as the sounds of a strummed acoustic guitar briefly bubble up.

In addition, fans who text the phone number on the wall will get a response that reads: “helloooo it’s your favorite crappy rock band blink-182. make sure you click the link above so we can save your contact.” Blink re-re-united with twice-departed singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge last year and dropped “Edging” in October. Though they’ve been teasing a comeback album ever since, to date they have not yet announced a title or release date for their follow-up to 2019’s Nine, which featured DeLonge’s fill-in, Alkaline Trio guitarist/singer Matt Skiba. DeLonge shared what appeared to be a snapshot from a new video two weeks ago in which he strummed a guitar in front of a green screen.

The band has been on tour in Europe, but last week they were forced to postpone a series of shows so drummer Travis Barker could fly home to be by pregnant wife Kourtney Kardashian’s side due to a medical emergency she described as “urgent fetal surgery”; the band will resume the tour on Friday (Sept. 8) in Antwerp, Belgium.

Miley Cyrus Was Filming ‘Black Mirror’ Scene When Her Malibu House Burned Down

Miley Cyrus said she was filming a traumatic scene for Black Mirror at the same time the Woolsey Fire tore through Malibu and burned down her and ex-husband Liam Hemsworth’s home.

As a result, the “Flowers” singer explained in a recent installment of her Used to Be Young TikTok series that she suffered from panic anxiety attacks years later.

“I was filming Black Mirror and while I was there the Woolsey Fires happened in Malibu,” Cyrus said. “I was in South Africa but [the episode] was taking place in Malibu, so it was just a real trip. Two or three years after this happened, I didn’t understand, but I had this anxiety attack with a vision attached that I would be strapped down to a gurney.”

The scene she was referring to was when her character, fictional pop star Ashley O, was tied down to a medical bed against her will in an episode of season five of the popular anthology series. The scene was also similar to the harrowing dreams she was having in real life.

“I would have these dreams any time I would go to perform, and I thought that was just an anxious vision that made no sense,” she said. “But actually as my house was burning I was strapped to a gurney with my hands locked in handcuffs strapped to a bed [filming Black Mirror].

The following day, after her house was demolished by the wildfires, Cryus said in the TikTok video that she had to film the music video for Ashley O’s song “On a Roll,” which went on to receive more than 19 million views on YouTube.

“Found out that my house had burned to the ground, and this was the next day of [filming],” she added. “The show must go on.”

During her Used to Be Young TikTok series to celebrate her new single of the same name, Cryus has been looking back at earlier moments in her career as well as past relationships and friendships. Most recently, Cyrus talked about how she “didn’t make a dime” from her 2014 Bangerz Tour, as well as reminisced on falling in love with ex-husband Hemsworth while filming 2010’s The Last Song. She has also opened up about why she hasn’t toured in nearly a decade.

Neck Brace, But Make It Fashion: Doja Cat Shares New Pics of Apparent Injury

Forget how her “Demons” look, what about that neck brace?! On Wednesday (Sept. 6), Doja Cat shared a pair of pics to Instagram showing off a gnarly tri-color neck brace.

“I’m fine, my neck is fine,” she captioned the first post, choosing to relegate the second picture to the end of a separate photo set captioned “before the test he confessed.” Currently, details are scarce regarding why exactly the “Attention” rapper is sporting a neck brace. Doja Cat’s reps did not immediately respond to Billboard’s request for comment.

The revelation of Doja’s apparent injury comes less than a week before she is slated to take the stage at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. The Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper boasts six nominations at this year’s ceremony, including artist of the year, video of the year (“Attention”) and song of the summer (“Paint the Town Red”). In 2021, she served as the show’s host and won two Moonpeople.

Not only is Doja set for a major performance in a few days, she is also gearing up to release her fourth studio album. Scarlet, the follow-up to 2021’s Grammy-winning Planet Her, is set to arrive on Sept. 22. In addition to “Attention,” which peaked at No. 31 on the Hot 100, Doja Cat released two other songs to drum up anticipation for the record. “Paint the Town Red,” the album’s current radio single, is already a shining success, reaching a new peak of No. 3 on the Hot 100 this week (chart dated Sep. 9, 2023). A promotional single titled “Demons,” which features a music video starring Emmy-nominated Yellowjackets actress Christina Ricci, arrived last week (Sep. 1).

An injury wouldn’t be the first obstacle the Scarlet album campaign has had to overcome. On Aug. 31, Doja revealed an updated album cover for Scarlet. She was forced to change the original artwork — which featured a fittingly scarlet-colored spider — after fans noticed that German hardcore band Chaver also used the same spider on the artwork for their upcoming album cover.

Hopefully, everything is alright with Doja and she can get back to painting the town red.

aespa Talk Tour & Perform ‘Better Things’ on ‘Good Morning America’: ‘We Got So Much Great Energy From Our U.S. Tour’

Is there anything better than some aespa in the morning? On Wednesday (Sept. 6), the K-pop stars graced Good Morning America for a performance of “Better Things” and a conversation about their ongoing Synk: Hyper Line Tour.

“We are so excited to be here,” Giselle gushed. “We are so appreciative of all the love and support.”

It’s been a banner year for the group, as every few months they’ve achieved a career milestone. In July, they earned their second No. 1 title on Billboard‘s Top Album Sales chart, with 39,000 copies of My World sold in the project’s first week. My World also became the group’s second top 10 title on the Billboard 200 (No. 9), as well as their third consecutive chart-topper on World Albums.

In February, aespa launched their Synk: Hyper Line Tour in support of their first three EPs. Beginning at Jamsil Arena in Seoul, South Korea, the tour has traveled across Asia and North America. The night before their Good Morning America appearance, the group performed at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. On Sept. 11, aespa will head to São Paulo, Brazil, for a two-date South American leg, before heading to Berlin, Germany for a European leg Sept. 25-30.

Aespa seized the opportunity to show GMA viewers what kind of crisp, entertaining performances they would see should they choose to attend the Synk: Hyper Line Tour. “It’s been so cool to see our fans, and everyone is singing along and dancing along to our songs,” Giselle said. “We prepared a lot, and we got so much great energy from our U.S. tour, and we’re now going on to our South American tour.”

Just months after becoming the first K-pop act to perform at Governors Ball, aespa continues to maintain the momentum as they ride out their My World era.
