Mariah Carey will show Las Vegas where she belongs — for a third time — with the debut of The Celebration of Mimi, April 12 through April 27 at Dolby Live in Park MGM. The “exclusive engagement” (April 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 24, 26 and 27) toasts the 19th anniversary of The Emancipation of Mimi (released on April 12, 2005).

A statement shared with Billboard states that “the Las Vegas shows will feature fan favorites from that album as well as other hits from her unparalleled illustrious career.” The Emancipation of Mimi, with hits such as “We Belong Together” and “Shake It Off,” was one of the top-selling albums of its year and is known within her catalog as the “comeback album.”Making another comeback — this time on the Strip — The Celebration of Mimi engagement, backed by Live Nation and MGM Resorts, follows Carey’s first two residencies at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, #1 to Infinity (2015-2017) and The Butterfly Returns (2018-2020). Infinity was a chronological performance of her 18 No. 1 hits, starting with 1990’s “Vision of Love” and ending with 2008’s “Touch My Body.” While that show focused on Carey the entertainer, “Butterfly” capitalized on Carey the singer with a powerful 23-song set list of big hits, surprises and her own personal favorites. Since 2020, Carey has mostly performed and toured with her holiday music. Carey got her break in 1990 with the smash hit “Vision of Love” and since sold more than 200 million albums with 19 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles. Just days ago the five-octave-range singer accepted the Global Impact Award during the Recording Academy Honors presented by the Black Music Collective.Tickets will go on sale to the public Saturday, Feb. 10 for April 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 24, 26 and 27. Limited to only eight dates, it seems as if Carey is taking a page from Kelly Clarkson’s Las Vegas strategy book. Last year, Clarkson announced a 10-date run of Chemistry. All shows sold-out. Since then, she has picked select weekends to return including New Years and Super Bowl. With this being the third chapter in her Las Vegas legacy, the chances of more dates coming down the line seem probable.Carey’s announcement follows last week’s news that Mexican group Los Bukis will perform the Strip’s first-ever full Latin and Spanish-language residency, launching May 3 at Dolby Live at Park MGM. The theater is also home to Bruno Mars, Maroon 5 and Lady Gaga.

With a chance to win the NFL’s biggest prize, and doing so with Taylor Swift at his side, Travis Kelce is a guy with it all going for him. The football star’s good fortune doesn’t end there; he’s had a preview of Swift’s forthcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, which he critiques as “unbelievable” and world-beating.

During her night of domination at the 2024 Grammy Awards at Crypto.com Arena on Sunday (Feb. 4) in Los Angeles, where she made history by collecting a fourth career album of the year award, Swift surprised everyone in the room – and the millions watching on around the world – when she announced The Tortured Poets Department, her 11th studio album.

Kelce, as you would expect, has had a listen. “I have heard some of it yes and it’s unbelievable. I can’t wait for her to shake up the world when it finally drops,” he told “Extra’s” Jenny Taft on the field at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII Opening Night.

The 34-year-old tight end reacted to his girlfriend’s bumper Grammys, where she extended her career tally to 14 wins, remarking, “She’s unbelievable, she’s re-writing the history books herself. I told her, ‘I’ll have to hold up my end of the bargain and bring home some hardware too.’”

Whatever happens this weekend, the Swifties’ support has been a fun experience, Kelce explains. “I just go out there and have fun,” he says. “Taylor has an unbelievable fan base that follows her and supports her throughout her life. It’s been fun to gather the Swifties into the Chiefs kingdom and open them up to the football world.”

The 6’5″ athlete has a chance to book-end a glittering week for the power couple when his Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers on Feb. 11 for the Super Bowl.

Swift used the platform of the Grammys to give fans a jaw-drop moment. “This is my 13th Grammy – which is my lucky number, I don’t know if I’ve ever told you that,” she quipped from the podium as she won the Grammy for best pop vocal album. “I want to say thank you to the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way. I know the way the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans. So I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album comes out April 19. It’s called The Tortured Poets Department. I’m gonna go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you, I love you.”

The Tortured Poets Department is scheduled to arrive on April 19.

Taylor Swift surprised her fans and the millions of TV viewers tuning in to the Grammys on Sunday night when she announced that she was releasing a brand-new album called The Tortured Poets Department on April 19. And now she’s got another surprise: The full track list has arrived, including some notable features.
Swift unveiled the track list Monday night (Feb. 5) on her social accounts, sharing new artwork for the project that seemingly includes 16 song titles and one bonus track called “The Manuscript.”

The biggest surprises of the track list reveal are the album’s two featured guests: Post Malone on album opener “Fortnight” and Florence + The Machine on “Florida!!!” Swift has never teamed up with either artist, though they’ve all expressed their admiration for one another in the past.

In Billboard‘s 2015 cover story with Florence Welch, the Florence + The Machine frontwoman revealed the life-changing advice she received from her friend and mutual fan Swift: “Taylor said that you must sing about what’s happening in your life.” Swift, in turn, gushed about Welch to Billboard. “What sets Florence apart? Everything. Every time I’ve been around her, she is the most magnetic person in the room — surrounded by people who are fascinated by the idea of being near her. But when she meets people, she pays them a warm compliment and immediately disarms them. There are very few people I’ve met in my life who are truly electric, and Florence is one of them.”

In an October interview with Howard Stern, Malone recalled running into Swift and the superstar throwing a compliment his way. “We were just passing by and she was like, ‘Oh my God! Nice to see you. “Better Now” is f—in’ amazing!’” Malone said Swift told him. “And I was like, ‘What? That’s f—in’ crazy, you’re a great f—in’ songwriter! Thank you so very much.’”

The Tortured Poets Department will be Swift’s first album of new material since October 2022’s Midnights, which won album of the year and best pop vocal album at Sunday night’s Grammys. She also put out (Taylor’s Version) re-recordings of Speak Now and 1989 in 2023, as she embarked on her career-spanning Eras Tour.

Billie Eilish is just as excited about Ariana Grande’s upcoming album as the rest of us. While chatting with CBS Mornings on the Grammy Awards red carpet on Sunday (Feb. 4), the star revealed that she’ll be releasing new music “soon,” but she’s waiting on Grande to release her seventh album, Eternal Sunshine, on March […]

Miley Cyrus picked up her first pair of Grammy Awards on Sunday, but perhaps a backstage moment was her favorite of the night when Flavor Flav finally got her name right. Footage captured Cyrus walking backstage at Crypto.com Arena as the Public Enemy rapper continuously shouted, “Miley!” Flav got the “Flowers” singer’s attention and she […]

Taylor Swift fans went into the 2024 Grammys thinking that, best case scenario, she might announce the release date of her long awaited Reputation (Taylor’s Version) during one of her acceptance speeches. Instead, the 34-year-old pop star dropped the bombshell news that she has a brand new album coming out — and its title is already attracting suspicion, at least where one Joe Alwyn is concerned.
Immediately after winning best pop vocal album for Midnights at the Sunday (Feb. 4) awards, Swift told the crowd at Crypto.com Arena, “I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album comes out April 19.”

“It’s called The Tortured Poets Department,” she continued in the moment, noting that the award was her 13th career Grammy. “I’m gonna go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you, I love you.”

Notably, the new project will be Swift’s first batch of fresh material since her high profile breakup from Alwyn, whom she dated for about six years (the star is now publicly in a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce). And if fans weren’t expecting that her next album after Midnights would include songs about the Conversations With Friends actor before, they definitely are now, as many have noticed an interesting parallel between the title of Tortured Poets Department and the “Anti-Hero” singer’s former love interest.

It all dates back to a December 2022 interview between Alwyn and Normal People‘s Paul Mescal for Variety, during which the two actors reveal that the name of their WhatsApp group chat is “Tortured Man Club.” “It hasn’t had much use recently,” Alwyn remarked at the time.

Tortured Man Club? Tortured Poets Department? Many Swifties clocked the immediate similarities between the two titles. In the hours since the Grammys wrapped up, the fanbase has been alight with memes pointing out the link between the two.

“joe alwyn and paul mescal in their gc rn,” one fan tweeted, paired with a video of Euphoria‘s Alexa Demie, asking, “Is this f–king play about us?”

“joe alwyn watching ‘the tortured man club’ chat reviving right now,” wrote another Swiftie, adding a Succession clip of Kieran Culkin’s character looking depressed as he stares at a computer screen.

There were several times during Sunday night’s (Feb. 4) 66th annual Grammy Awards where Oprah Winfrey gave Taylor Swift a run for her money when it came to cameras catching the media mogul jumping out of her seat and singing along enthusiastically to the performances on stage. And on Monday morning (Feb. 5) Winfrey again […]

“There is a phrase, ‘If you have no expectations, there will be no disappointment,’” (G) I-DLE’s Minnie explains when it comes to her mindset for the group’s newest full-length album. “I actually didn’t want to have high expectations, but it will be great if we get good results.”

In 2022, (G)I-DLE embarked on a bold new chapter with its first full LP, I NEVER DIE from 2022. The pivotal moment marked a creative renaissance for the group — with the single “Tomboy” named Billboard’s best K-pop song of the year — and propelled it to new chart heights with hit albums and signature singles. Less than two years later, (G)I-DLE is already back with its second full-length album, aptly titled 2, that shows the group’s heavy involvement in writing and producing songs discussing female empowerment, trusting one’s instinct, destiny, and love.

“Since a lot of people are waiting for (G)I-DLE music, we wanted to come out with a new concept that no one expected,” leader Soyeon says of the LP promoted by the bold and bass-driven single “Wife” (that’s gone viral for its lyrics and breaking into the general public, more on that below) and the booming, big-room anthem “Super Lady.”

Despite a packed 2023, which included the release of their Korean EP I Feel and their debut English EP HEAT — which peaked at Nos. 41 and 25 on the Billboard 200, respectively — (G)I-DLE wasted no time returning to the studio.

“I started working on our songs when we were heading towards the end of our world tour,” says Minnie. “Although I did not have enough time, I worked on the songs non-stop and was able to make ‘Vision’ and 7Days within 10 days.” Shuhua adds, “Whenever we had a free moment, we practiced and recorded our songs.”

The album also marks a significant milestone for member Miyeon, who contributed lyrics for the first time.

“Excluding my solo songs, this is my first time participating in the lyric-making for (G)I-DLE album,” the vocalist shares. “I had so much fun and was able to work with a lot of excitement since it was my first time. Although some parts were lacking, this whole process was a new experience, and I am really glad that our [fandom] NERVERLANDs liked it as well.”

Throughout the creative process, (G) I-DLE’s members took active roles in also shaping the album’s direction, from refining choreography to fine-tuning the concept.

“We all were involved together,” Soyeon says. “We communicated with the choreographer to revise the details while learning the choreography for our title track single ‘Super Lady’ because I wanted to do something that wasn’t so obvious.” Yuqi adds that “most of the choreography and concept were centered around Soyeon, as she is the producer of the group, but all of our members gathered together to share our opinions.”

While high chart rankings are undoubtedly a goal, the quintet also emphasize the importance of connecting with listeners.

“First, I want to thank you for listening and showing a lot of love towards our songs,” Miyeon says to those tuning in. “When preparing for this album, I thought, more than ranking on the charts, I hope each and every person who listens to (G)I-DLE songs can relate to our songs and enjoy them.”

Yuqi sums things up by saying, “Of course, it would be great to rank high on the charts, but I don’t go around thinking about rankings when making music. I want (G)I-DLE music to be delivered to as many people as possible. That’s the biggest and most meaningful goal!”

There’s a wide gulf between writing and singing your own songs and saying something elegant while giving an awards show thank you speech in an arena packed with the music world’s biggest stars while being honored for those accomplishments. And at Sunday night’s (Feb. 4) 66th annual Grammy Awards, two women who took home multiple awards revealed that acceptance nerves are real.
ET caught up with Billie Eilish, 22, after the show and asked the singer about her private backstage conversation with fellow winner Miley Cyrus, 31, after the “Jaded” star took home her first two Grammys ever, record of the year and best pop solo performance for “Flowers.”

“Not to blow up her [Cyrus’] spot, but she was saying… she was asking me if I also feel when I get up on stage that I say the dumbest s–t I could possibly say?” Eilish told ET of their private chat. “Absolutely, 100 percent. She was like, ‘Why was I saying all that?’”

Eilish told Cyrus she could totally relate, saying, “Sorry, Miley, but I feel the same. I always get up there, and I just poop out of my mouth.” Eilish should be getting used to it by now, considering she and brother Finneas won song of the year and best song written for visual media for their Barbie soundtrack ballad “What Was I Made For?,” which has already scooped up a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination this year.

Eilish appeared somewhat tongue-tied earlier in the evening, when she took home her second song of the year Grammy honor. “That’s stupid guys,” she said looking dumbfounded at her win in a field that also included Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift, Jon Batiste, Dua Lipa, SZA and Olivia Rodrigo. “That was a crazy list of incredible people, incredible artists, incredible music. I feel crazy right now. I’m shocked out of my balls.”

Earlier in the night, after winning her first-ever Grammy, Cyrus accepted the best pop solo performance gramophone from one of her icons, Mariah Carey, reveling in the opportunity to share the stage with the fellow pop legend. “This MC is going to stand by this MC because this is just too iconic,” Cyrus said. “I was stuck in the rain in traffic and I thought I was going to miss this moment, and I could have missed this award, that’s fine — but not Mariah Carey.”

Cyrus then offered up a kind of parable about a boy’s wish for a butterfly for his birthday and how it finally came to him when he stopped chasing it so hard. “And right when he did is when the butterfly came and landed right on the tip of his nose. And this song, ‘Flowers,’ is my butterfly. Thank you,” Cyrus said.

It was an elegant anecdote that summed up the unknowable magic of creating a song that connects so deeply with you fans and professional peers. Of course Miley being Miley, when she came on stage later in the broadcast to scoop up her second “Flowers” award, the singer thanked her glam squad and producers while noting that her life was, “beautiful yesterday. Everyone in this world is spectacular, so please don’t think this is important!,” then adding, “I don’t think I forgot anyone — but I might’ve forgotten underwear. Bye!”
