There’s been no shortage of excellent K-pop albums in 2022 and Billboard wants to know which full-length has helped define your year.
Though BTS remained on hiatus as the seven members prepare to start their mandatory service in the South Korean military, both RM and J-Hope delivered solo albums to keep ARMY happy. J-Hope’s Jack in the Box came first with its vintage hip-hop sound, colorful cover art by KAWS and concept inspired by Pandora’s Box.
Five months later, RM dropped Indigo, complete with a star-studded guest roster that included Erykah Badu (“Yun”), Anderson .Paak (“Still Life”), Tablo (“All Day”) and more.
BLACKPINK also came raring back with their full-length sophomore effort Born Pink while TOMORROW X TOGETHER dropped Minisode 2: Thursday’s Child and SEVENTEEN repackaged their fourth album, 2022’s Face the Sun, as Sector 17 with new tracks like “Cheers (SVT Leaders)” and “_World.”
As far as solo albums go, Lee Chanhyuk dreamed up Error, a concept album telling the story of someone who’s fallen into a coma and Heize enlisted the likes of Monsta X’s I.M, (G)I-DLE’s Minnie and Giriboy for Undo, her first album in more than three years.
HIGHLIGHT reintroduced themselves with Daydream — their first full-length since changing their name from Beast back in 2017. Lim Young Woong delivered on his potential after winning the 2020 Korean singing competition Mr. Trot with his genre-hopping debut Im Hero. And NewJeans established themselves as one of the genre’s most exciting new girl groups with their self-titled debut.

It’s that time of year! Yes, the holiday season, but also when we look back and take stock on the best music of the year. And in the countdown to Christmas, we want to know which R&B album released in 2022 was your favorite.
On Tuesday (Dec. 20), Billboard staffers ranked their ten picks for the year’s best R&B studio sets, starting with Brent Faiyaz‘s Wasteland. Calling it the indie artist’s “most transparent project to date,” the sophomore follow-up to 2017’s Sonder Son was led by singles “Dead Man Walking,” “Gravity” with DJ Dahi and featuring a guest assist from Tyler, the Creator, and “Wasting Time” featuring Drake before finally debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in July.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the year in R&B without considering Beyoncé‘s mammoth Renaissance, even if the Beyhive is still waiting for any hint of visuals from Queen Bey’s house-inspired opus, which includes fan favorite cuts like “Alien Superstar,” “Cuff It,” “Pure/Honey” and hit single “Break My Soul.”
Steve Lacy also made major waves in the genre thanks to his major-label solo debut, Gemini Rights, and its No. 1 hit “Bad Habit,” and Ari Lennox shared many a personal detail with her unapologetic sophomore album Age/Sex/Location.
Other powerhouse contenders that made Billboard‘s top 10 list included The Weeknd‘s radio broadcast-inspired Dawn FM, Ella Mai‘s vulnerable Heart on My Sleeve, Giveon‘s Give or Take and Lucky Daye‘s Candydrip. Plus, Kehlani and Mary J. Blige proved once again to be masters of their craft on their stellar respective albums Blue Water Road and the Grammy-nominated Good Morning Gorgeous.

It’s been a banner year for hip-hop and Billboard recently rounded up our critics’ picks of the genre’s 15 best tracks of 2022. But now that we’ve run through our favorites, we want to know which hip-hop song you loved the most.
The past twelve months have seen newcomers like GloRilla and Ice Spice explode onto the scene and rising stars like Latto finally break through, while hitmakers such as Kendrick Lamar, DJ Khaled, Cardi B and more continued to successfully crank out smash singles and fan-favorite album cuts.
In fact, not one but two tracks by GloRilla have landed in Billboard‘s top 10 picks of the year — “F.N.F. (LET’S GO),” her debut release, at No. 1 and its Cardi B-assisted follow-up “Tomorrow 2” at No. 6. Lamar is another artist who delivered multiple hits this year: “N95” and “Rich Spirit,” both off his fifth studio album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.
While they’ve both been indicted in the sprawling RICO case against YSL, Gunna and Young Thug collaborated with Future on “Pushin P,” which became the highest-charting single off the former’s third studio album, DS4Ever.
Meanwhile, DJ Khaled enlisted an entire entourage of A-listers, from Jay-Z and Rick Ross to Lil Wayne and John Legend, for “God Did,” the title track off his stacked thirteenth studio album that peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 upon its July release.
Other songs that made our list of favorites include Latto’s Tom Tom Club-interpolating “Big Energy,” Vince Staples‘ “When Sparks Fly” and “Hotel Lobby,” the grimy single released by Quavo and Takeoff just one month before the latter’s tragic murder.

“Those who want power are the least who deserve it.” Such goes the techno-proverb tweeted by Elon Musk on Sunday in the wake of the Twitter CEO taking a poll asking users whether he should step down as head of the social platform.
While opinion on the matter was fairly split, 57.5 percent of the 17.5 million voters ultimately decided that Musk should officially end his controversy-laden reign as Twitter overlord. And while it remains to be seen whether Musk will cede his power to the wish of the masses, Snoop Dogg couldn’t help jumping into the fray by releasing his own poll.
“Should I run Twitter?” the rapper asked his more than 20 million followers hours after Musk’s tweet went viral. So far, 81 percent of the 3 million votes have skewed toward a resounding “Yes.” But Snoop’s poll has us thinking: What famous musician would you really want running Twitter?
The “Gin & Juice” rapper is an obvious front-runner in our completely hypothetical election, but there are plenty of other stars who could be up to the job.
After her awe-inspiring and empowering speech at the People’s Choice Awards, would you trust Lizzo to turn Twitter from a dumpster fire into something more positive? Should Mariah Carey take the reins during the Christmas season?
Maybe John Legend would be a trustworthy, measured choice for Twitter CEO with an assist from his wife Chrissy “Queen of Twitter” Teigen. Or would The 1975’s Matty Healy, who recently set his fanbase buzzing by tweeting a snap of himself kissing Phoebe Bridgers, inject a more whimsical brand of chaos into our hearts and feeds?
Meanwhile, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry remain the most-followed male and female musicians on the platform, and there’s no doubt Beyoncé could get the whole of Twitter in formation, and quickly.
Vote for which musician you think should take charge of Twitter in Billboard‘s poll below.
We’re officially less than 10 days from Christmas, and new music remains the gift that keeps on giving. This week, everyone from Rosalía and Cardi B to The Weeknd dropped new songs, and we want to know which release you love the most.
The Weeknd unveiled “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” just in time for the premiere of Avatar: The Way of Water. The grandiose ballad, which plays over the end credits of the long-awaited alien sequel from James Cameron, was produced by Swedish House Mafia and takes a sonic cue from Gerard McCann’s “Cry Little Sister” from the 1987 cult classic The Lost Boys as The Weeknd sings, “I thought I could protect you from paying for my sins/ And I been walking this earth long enough that that’s a gift.”
Rosalía reinvents her MOTOMAMI smash “DESPECHÁ” by enlisting none other than Cardi B on the official remix. Cardi jumps into the groove headfirst, taking over both of the song’s verses and the cooing, dual language refrain of “Baby, please don’t call me/ Why you on my line? ‘Cause I got a new body?/ I have decided que voy pa’ la calle/ With all my motomamis y no hay quién me pare.“
As far as new albums go, Little Simz followed up her 2021 breakthrough Sometimes I Might Be an Introvert with her fifth studio album NO THANK YOU. Meanwhile, Juice WRLD‘s latest posthumous release arrives in the form of “Face 2 Face,” rising girl group FLO builds on the momentum they’ve earned throughout 2022 with their latest single “Losing You,” and PinkPantheress finally crosses the three-minute mark with new synth-pop banger “Take Me Home.”

Artists such as Bizarrap, Rusherking, Lali Esposito and TINI, who’s dating soccer player Rodrigo De Paul, have traveled miles away to the Middle East to experience the excitement in person. Others, such as Trueno and Khea, have documented their reactions on Instagram after a match.
If the Argentine national team anthem “Muchachos, Ahora Nos Volvimos a Ilusionar” is any indication, fans of the Albiceleste team are also very hopeful that the team’s captain, Lionel “Leo” Messi, will win his first-ever World Cup trophy.
“We’re already happy about winning the 2021 Copa America, but I think that winning this would be the icing on the cake,” rap artist Lit Killah previously told Billboard. “There is a lot of expectation and enthusiasm due to the fact that it’s Lionel Messi’s last World Cup. With that pressure and that desire of the people to see him win a World Cup, I think we would have the country happy for the rest of our lives.”
If Argentina or France win, both would secure their third World Cup. The former following its 1978 and 1986 wins, and the latter after winning in 1998 and 2018.
But as we wait for the grand finale, Billboard put together a fan poll featuring more than 20 Argentine artists who would make for great company at a World Cup watch party. Who would you want to watch the finals with? Vote below:

Taylor Swift is feeling 33! The superstar rang in her latest birthday on Tuesday (Dec. 13), and as Swifties the world over celebrate their queen’s day, Billboard wants to know which of her songs is your favorite.
But rather than go for just the straightforward hits, we’ve done something a little different. Yes, some of Tay’s biggest singles are here. But we’ve also rounded up fan favorites and deep cuts from each of the singer’s eras among our 33 choices.
Back in her teenage days, Swift made a name for herself with singles such as “Tim McGraw,” “Our Song” and “Love Story,” but her fervent fandom learned every word of devastating album tracks including “White Horse” and “Dear John” too. And, of course, you’re an early Swiftie if you know that her third album, 2010’s Speak Now, got its original working title from “Enchanted.”
Taylor’s status as a Billboard Hot 100 titan kicked off in earnest with the release of 2012’s Red, when lead single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” became her first career No. 1. But it wouldn’t be a birthday-appropriate poll if we didn’t include “22” alongside the hopeful “Begin Again” and 1989 tracks such as “Blank Space,” “Style,” emotional closer “Clean” and bonus cut “New Romantics.”
Emerging from her Reputation era with a new hold on her narrative and unforgettable like “I Did Something Bad” and “New Year’s Day,” Tay gave us the single that never was in the form of Lover‘s “Cruel Summer” before surprising the world with the twin releases of Folklore and Evermore in 2020.
In the age of her re-recordings, Swift has given her fans even more music, including vault tracks such as “Mr. Perfectly Fine” off Fearless (Taylor’s Version), and the mythical 10-minute version of “All Too Well” from Red (Taylor’s Version).
And ahead of her birthday, she, of course, capped off her latest trip around the sun with the complete domination of Midnights, which earned the star her biggest Hot 100 hit since 2014 with “Anti-Hero.”
To celebrate her birthday, vote for your favorite Taylor song below.
