The 2023 Grammys is just days away, which means music fans will soon find out whoâs walking away with new golden gramophones on musicâs biggest night.
Of course, part of the fun is getting to predict the winners, and today, Billboard is honing in on one question: Whose song do you think should win the Grammy for record of the year?
Itâs been a few years now since the Recording Academy widened the field of its top prizes to 10 nominees, and this yearâs pack of hopefuls are heavyweights across multiple genres â from pop to R&B, hip-hop and more.
As one of the Big Four categories, the race for record of the year will once again pit BeyoncĂ© against Adele in a hotly anticipated rematch of their epic face-off back in 2017. At the time, 25 memorably â and the Beyhive would certainly say controversially â beat out Lemonade for album of the year, and Adele gave Queen Bey a teary apology during her modest acceptance speech. But which do you think deserves record of the year in 2023: Adeleâs âEasy on Meâ or BeyoncĂ©âs âBreak My Soulâ?
The two superstars are hardly the only contenders, though. Harry Styles had one of the biggest smashes of the year with âAs It Was,â which dominated the Billboard Hot 100 for 16 non-consecutive weeks â a streak that was eventually broken by first-time nominee Steve Lacyâs No. 1 hit âBad Habit.â Or maybe you think itâs about damn time for Lizzo to walk away with the trophy for, well, âAbout Damn Time.â
And donât count out the dark horses of the field: ABBA scored its first-ever nomination last year in the same category thanks to âI Still Have Faith in You,â but could the Swedish pop pioneers clinch their first win with âDonât Shut Me Downâ? Thereâs also Mary J. Bligeâs âGood Morning Gorgeous,â Kendrick Lamarâs âThe Heart Part 5,â Doja Catâs âWomanâ and Brandi Carlileâs Lucius-assisted âYou and Me on the Rockâ to consider.
The 2023 Grammys will air Sunday (Feb. 5) on CBS. Vote for who you think should win record of the year below.
The 2023 Oscar nominations arrived on Tuesday (Jan. 24) with Rihanna, Lady Gaga and more scoring nods in the race for best original song.
However, for every artist who received a nomination, thereâs another who was snubbed. And looking at this yearâs Oscars shortlist, we want to know who you think shouldâve received a nod for best original song, but ultimately didnât.
Only five of the 15 songs on the shortlist made the final cut, leaving tracks from Amsterdam (Giveonâs âTimeâ), Guillermo del Toroâs Pinocchio (âCiao Papaâ), White Noise (âNew Body Rhumbaâ) and more out in the cold.
Do you think âCarolinaâ â Taylor Swiftâs mournful acoustic dirge from Where the Crawdads Sing â shouldâve been nominated over, say, Diane Warrenâs âApplauseâ or âNaatu Naatuâ? Should The Weeknd have clinched his second career nod for âNothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)â from Avatar: The Way of Water after last being up for best original song in 2016 for âEarned Itâ from Fifty Shades of Grey?
Selena Gomez also made the shortlist with âMy Mind & Me,â the vulnerable musical cornerstone of her recent mental health documentary, Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me, on Apple TV+, while Rita Wilson made the shortlist thanks to âTil Youâre Homeâ from A Man Called Otto.
Did âGood Afternoon,â the big production number led by Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell in last yearâs instant Christmas classic Spirited, tickle your funny bone? Did Jazmine Sullivanâs âStand Upâ inspire you to do just that after seeing the Emmett Till biopic Till?
Vote for which shortlisted song you think deserved more recognition from the Academy in Billboardâs poll below.
Madonna kicked off 2023 with a bang, announcing an incredible global tour to honor her four decades of hits.
The Celebration Tour will kick off Saturday, July 15, at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver and will make additional stops in Phoenix, Detroit, Atlanta, Toronto, Montreal and more before concluding at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 8. The tourâs European leg will pick up with a pair of dates at The O2 arena on Oct. 14-15 and will make stops in Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Berlin and more before concluding in Amsterdam on Dec. 1 at the Ziggo Dome. Bob the Drag Queen will be a special guest on the tour.
In anticipation for the tour, Madonna asked her fans via Twitter on Thursday (Jan. 19) what songs theyâd like to âdance toâ at the gig. Thankfully, we at Billboard have compiled 40 tracks we would love to hear the icon perform, filled with hits spanning throughout her career.

Weâre weeks away from Rihanna taking over the Super Bowl LVII halftime show on Feb. 12. But before the superstar makes her sure-to-be-triumphant return to the stage, letâs look back on the halftime spectacles that have come before her.
The 2023 game marks 30 years since Michael Jacksonâs Super Bowl performance of 1993, which marked the beginning of a new kind of halftime show â one where fans began expecting to see the superstars they love enlisted to put on a career-defining set filled with lights, music and often a special surprise or two.
Throughout the last three decades, everyone from Katy Perry and Madonna to Paul McCartney and The Rolling Stones have graced center stage between the goalposts, and we want to know which halftime performance is your all-time favorite.
In Billboardâs official ranking, staffers put Princeâs 2007 set at the very top thanks to The Purple Oneâs mix of his own hits with covers of Queen (âWe Will Rock Youâ), Bob Dylan (âAll Along the Watchtowerâ) and Creedence Clearwater Revival by way of Tina Turner (âProud Maryâ), though the defining act of his halftime show was the extended coda of âPurple Rainâ as actual rain poured down in the stadium.
Then thereâs U2âs set just months after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, which brought the still-mourning nation together for a special tribute that included âBeautiful Day,â âMLKâ and âWhere the Streets Have No Name.â
Of course, the most memorable Super Bowl moment of all time occurred in 2004 when Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake headlined and an accidental tear-away (or expertly planned shock to the system, depending on who you ask) in the closing strains of âRock Your Bodyâ rocketed the phrase âwardrobe malfunctionâ into the cultural vernacular.
Other modern triumphs at the Super Bowl halftime show have come in recent years courtesy of BeyoncĂ©, whose incredible 2013 set shut down the power in the third quarter of the game; Lady Gaga, who kicked off her 2017 performance by singing âGod Bless Americaâ and jumping from the roof of the stadium; and Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, whose combined dance moves and costumes sparked a flood of controversy just weeks before the coronavirus pandemic took over the world.
And last year, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg headlined an epic hip-hop show with help from Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak that electrified the hometown crowd at L.A.âs SoFi Stadium with hits like âCalifornia Love,â âNo More Dramaâ and âStill D.R.E.â

Foo Fighters were announced as headliners for not one, not two, but three festivals in 2023 on Tuesday (Jan. 10): Bonnaroo, Boston Calling and Sonic Temple Art and Music Festival.
By the time the trio of fests arrives, it will be more than a year since the 2022 death of the bandâs drummer, Taylor Hawkins. He unexpectedly passed away during a tour a stop in Bogota, Colombia, last March when the rockers were set to headline the the EstĂ©reo Picnic Festival.
The loss has left a massive and glaring absence within the group as Dave Grohl and his bandmates have mourned the loss of their longtime friend, and itâs still unclear who will serve as the bandâs drummer for their upcoming slate of headlining slots. So Billboard wants to know who you think could take a seat behind the drum kit and support the Foo Fighters for whatâs sure to be an emotional return to the stage.
An obvious choice would be Grohl himself, considering he would often switch places with Hawkins during shows for the late drummer to front fan-favorite tracks such as âSunday Rainâ off 2017âs Concrete and Gold, and covers of Queenâs âSomebody to Loveâ and Pink Floydâs âHave a Cigar.â However, itâs unrealistic the frontman would be able to do so for an entire set, so weâve put together a list of friends and fellow musicians who could possibly lend a hand.
Both Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Matt Cameron of Pearl Jam were good friends with Hawkins, and could honor his legacy at one or more of the dates. Though just 12 years old, viral wunderkind Nandi Bushell has proven she has the chops to play just about anything, and already has a lovely relationship with the band. (She also played on âEverlongâ during the bandâs Aug. 26, 2021, concert in Los Angeles.) And Hawkins own son, Oliver, joined his dadâs bandmates to play âMy Heroâ at a tribute concert held at Wembley Stadium last September.
Plenty of other big-name drummers also performed during the tribute show for Hawkins â as well as at a second concert weeks later at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles â including Travis Barker, Stewart Copeland of The Police, the Pretendersâ Martin Chambers, sessions drummers Josh Freese and Omar Hakim, and many others.
Vote for the drummer youâd like to see play Bonnaroo, Boston Calling and Sonic Temple with the Foo Fighters below.
Itâs the first New Music Friday of 2023, and a batch of new music spanning hip-hop, country, dance and more. But which of the new yearâs release is your favorite?
YoungBoy Never Broke Again isnât using 2023 as an opportunity to rest. The rapper kept himself incredibly busy last year and dropped a whopping four mixtapes, one album and a compilation album, most of which reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200, and heâs coming back for more with the release of I Rest My Case. The Baton Rouge native continues to get more ferocious in his lyrics, as seen in tracks âBlack,â âLouie Vâ and âSwag on Point,â but also offers up vulnerability and narration on the song âHey Pops.â
Popcaan is also starting off the new year strong with âWe Caa Done.â Drake puts on his best accent for an assist on the track, as Popcaan offers up classic Jamaican braggadocio (âYeah, short but mi heavy/ Chain âround mi neck can buy a couple Chevy/ Hmm, jiggle up yuh body fi mi babyâ) that further cements him as a heavyweight in dancehall and reggae.
Country icon Shania Twain is also offering up a new song with âGiddy Up!,â the lead single from her forthcoming album Queen of Me. Like many classic Twain songs, this new one has the capacity to get the party started with fun call-and-response moments, and lyrics perfect for leaving all your troubles at the door.
Skrillex, Yahritza Y Su Esencia and Ice Spice also return with fresh music to spin, but which new release is your favorite this week? Vote in our poll below.
Elton John took to social media to celebrate âHold Me Closer,â his duet with Britney Spears, being named Billboard readersâ favorite song of 2022.
âAn enormous thank you to @billboard, its readers and all the fans of âHold Me Closerâ who voted it their favourite song of 2022!!â he wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post. âAnd thank you @britneyspears for your talent and collaboration in making this happen and the incredible @thisiswatt [producer Watt] who shares this success! What an incredible way to kick off the year.â
In the official results of the poll, Sir Eltonâs disco-flecked collab with Spears dominated by earning nearly 45% of the vote, followed by Wizkidâs âBad to Meâ at 25% and both Anittaâs âEnvolverâ and BLACKPINKâs âShut Downâ with 8% each.
âHold Me Closerâ earned the superstar his second top 10 hit of 2022 when it debuted at No. 6 on the Hot 100 back in September, and also became the highest-charting single of his career since âCandle in the Wind 1997â after Princess Dianaâs death. Earlier last year, Johnâs âCold Heartâ duet with Dua Lipa also broke through to the top 10.
Sir Elton finished out the calendar year by raking in a whopping $60 million gross on the eight final dates of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour and releasing his hotly anticipated concert film Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium on Disney+. For his very last U.S. concert, the icon was joined onstage by Lipa, as well as Brandi Carlile and Kiki Dee. His final U.K. bow is slated to blast off this June on the last night of Glastonbury 2023.

Ariana Grande is set to make her return to the Werk Room on the season 15 premiere of RuPaulâs Drag Race this Friday (Jan. 6), which provides ample opportunity for one of her songs to be used in a lip sync smackdown to eliminate the first queen of the season.
The pop starâs music has already provided epic moments throughout the showâs 15 seasons, spin-offs and international iterations (âIâd like to keep it on, please,â anyone?), and she even served as a guest judge back in season 7. Now Billboard wants to know: Which of Grandeâs song do you want to hear in a Lip Sync for Your Life next?
So far, Grandeâs discography has been mined a total of eight times on the main stage, including iconic lip syncs set to âBreak Free,â âInto You,â âNo Tears Left to Cryâ and, yes, âGreedy.â But there are still more than a few gems and powerhouse cuts left yet untapped by RuPaul.
One of the most obvious choices is â7 Ringsâ â its swaggering beat, braggadocious lyrics and delectable connection to The Sound of Music (a.k.a. canon for theater gays!) would provide the perfect backdrop for two desperate queens to outflex each other.
Both âPositionsâ and âThank U, Nextâ are equally strong contenders for the lip sync treatment, with the formerâs teasing, sexually charged lyrics sure to inspire some rather NSFW moves on the stage and the latter giving queens a chance to live out their First Wives Club fantasies for the judges. (I mean, just imagine it after a runway filled with white power suits, am I right?)
Other fan favorites perfect for a Lip Sync for Your Life include her Lady Gaga duet âRain on Me,â âDangerous Woman,â âGod Is a Womanâ and âBreak Up With Your Girlfriend, Iâm Bored.â Also, how has âSide to Sideâ (featuring Nicki Minaj) not been used already?
Vote for the Ariana song you want to see used as a Lip Sync for Your Life in Billboardâs poll below.
Weâre only three and a half months away from the 2023 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, which means this yearâs headliners should be announced any day now.
However, before that big reveal comes, we want to know who you think should take the main stage in Indio, Calif. this April.
Frank Ocean is, obviously, the best bet for this yearâs festival in the desert, considering he was originally supposed to headline the 2020 iteration along with Rage Against the Machine and Travis Scott before it was canceled by the onslaught of the coronavirus pandemic. Heâs also previously been announced as one of the main acts this April, so if that holds true, two other headliners will be joining him on the lineup.
Both Bad Bunny and Rihanna are also strong contenders among Billboardâs predictions. The former capped off 2022 as the top touring act of the year, with his combined El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo & Worldâs Hottest Tour grossing a total of $373.5 million and selling 1.8 million tickets across 65 shows while the latter will make her triumphant return to performing just two months ahead of Coachella by headlining the Super Bowl LVII halftime show. Could Bad Bunny walk back his plan for a quiet 2023 to bring Un Verano Sin Ti to the desert? Will Rihanna double down on her hotly anticipated Super Bowl show by turning Coachella into RiRichella?
Other possibilities for headliners include Dua Lipa, SZA and Drake â the latter of whom last headlined back in 2015 before he ever had a single Hot 100 No. 1 under his belt. BLACKPINK could also make a victorious return to the Empire Polo Club in between the Asia dates of the Born Pink World Tour after making history at the festival four years ago. Even still, less likely candidates such as Olivia Rodrigo, Kate Bush or someone else entirely could serve as this yearâs biggest surprise.
Vote for who you want to see headline Coachella 2023 in Billboardâs poll below.
