Andy Reid is best known as one of the best football minds in the NFL today, but nobody would confuse him for being an expert on modern-day Hip-Hop. During a media session on Wednesday (Feb. 8), the Kansas City Chiefs head coach was asked to name the top three rappers alive and the results were hilarious.

Andy Reid, 64, was at the podium fielding questions from members of the media ahead of the upcoming Super Bowl contest against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday (Feb. 12). Among the reporters in the room, former NFL player Brandon Marshall used the moment to test Coach Reid’s Hip-Hop knowledge and the results were actually shocking.

“Do the Fat Boys count as one rapper?” Reid fired back, according to a report from local outlet The Kansas City Star. “All right, Jay-Z, shoot, I don’t know. I’m missing Master P. Yeah, I’m giving you all the old ones. Lil Wayne, wasn’t he just at our place? Who was just at our place?”
As the outlet notes, the name Coach Reid was searching for was Lil Jon, who was a halftime performer at the AFC Divisional Playoffs game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars at Arrowhead. Close, but no cigar, kind sir.
We’re actually impressed that Coach Andy Reid had the swiftness to name that many rappers but it figures that many of the stars he’s coached over the years blasted their tunes and put Reid up on game.
Check out the hilarious exchange below.

Saweetie has scored here very own touchdown, by fronting an NFL metaverse concert during Super Bowl week. The “Best Friend” rapper is the headline performer at the Saweetie Super Bowl Concert, a free virtual show presented by Intuit on Roblox and set to premiere Feb. 10.
The Warner Records artist will step into the metaverse on the heels of the launch of WMG’s Rhythm City, for what’s said to be a first-of-its-kind “music-themed social roleplay experience” on the Roblox gaming platform.

According to WMG, which partnered with NFL on the latest initiative, Saweetie will perform a “family-friendly, fully motion-captured” set featuring her hit singles and presented as official part of the Super Bowl LVII event lineup.

The virtual concert will drop next Friday at 7:00pm ET and will re-air every hour, on the hour, until Sunday, Feb. 12.

“As our ecosystem evolves,” comments Oana Ruxandra, chief digital officer & executive vp of business development at WMG, the music major “is focused on building open, interactive and dynamic virtual experiences that deeply connect artists with their fans. It doesn’t get more iconic than the Saweetie Super Bowl Concert Presented by Intuit on Roblox. We are so thrilled to be working in support of this event and incredibly excited to kick off our first concert in Rhythm City.”

Saweetie is the latest WMG artist to make the crossover into the Roblox world, namely Twenty One Pilots, Why Don’t We, Ava Max, David Guetta and Royal Blood.

This year, she’s on a mission to expand her creative horizons. Saweetie is reportedly stepping back onto the small screen with a guest starring role on Peacock’s Bel-Air, the streaming platform’s The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spin-off. The 29-year-old previously appeared in several episodes of Freeform’s Black-ish spinoff show Grown-ish, as rapper Indigo.

As for music, Saweetie most recently released her six-track EP The Single Life in November 2022. And she has hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Triller U.S. chart with three numbers: “Tap In” in mid-2020, followed by “Fast (Motion)” in mid-2021, and “Closer,” featuring H.E.R., in February 2022.

With the Rhythm City project, WMG is the latest music company to partner with Roblox, which boasts more than 61 million daily active users and exploded in popularity with young gamers during the pandemic.

Sony Music and BMG announced partnerships with Roblox in 2021. Spotify became “the first music-streaming brand to have a presence on Roblox” last year.

New Yorkers were heartbroken when the Philadelphia Eagles eliminated the New York Giants from the playoffs a few weekends ago. But when the Empire State Building lit up in green and white lights to celebrate the Eagles making it to the Super Bowl this past Sunday night, Big Apple residents were enraged and screamed betrayal at whoever pulls the switches over at the iconic building.

According to the Gothamist, New Yorkers weren’t too thrilled to see their iconic building beaming in the colors of our football team’s division rival. Especially after Philly caught a break and injured San Francisco’s only two quarterbacks on the roster to punch their ticket to the big game. (That game was hella lame as a result).
Many Giants fans expressed dismay that that the city’s iconic building was celebrating their rival.
City councilmember Keith Powers called the move “absolutely ridiculous” on Twitter.

The city’s Department of Sanitation, which also uses green and white colors, encouraged New Yorkers to pretend the lights were supporting New York’s Strongest.

Yeah, we can’t just pretend this is celebrating our hardworking men and women over at New York City’s Sanitation department. Heads should roll over this! Would they have done the same thing had Giant’s rivals (the Dallas Cowboys) made it to the Super Bowl? They might’ve enraged New Yorkers even more.
While we certainly didn’t appreciate the move made over at 20 W 34th Street, some New Yorkers took things a step further and made their way into the building demanding the lights be changed and whoever runs their Twitter page be fired for the stunt.

We’re willing to bet at least a few of these people were in attendance at the Jan. 6th insurrection. Just sayin.’
Apparently the folks over at the Empire State Building planned on lighting up the building in the colors of whoever won the NFC Championship game. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the Giants’ division rival. Taking to Twitter to mock the outcry the move generated, a representative for the Empire State Building posted a video of himself fake crying while saying “Life is so unfair!”

That fool lowkey looks like Bradley Cooper so you know he’s an Eagles fan. Yes, everyone that looks like Bradley “Super Eagles Fan” Cooper is also an Eagles fan. That’s just hood science at this point. That goes for both men and women.
To be fair, later that night the building also lit up in red and gold to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, but we don’t care about that.
What do y’all think about the move made at the Empire State Building? Fair or foul? Did New Yorkers overreact? Let us know in the comments section below.

News of the NFL x OVO capsule collection comes one week after the league unveiled its merch collab with Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty brand and sporting goods giant Mitchell & Ness.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will face off in this year’s Super Bowl scheduled for next Sunday, Feb. 12, at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

Chris Stapleton will sing the national anthem, Babyface is singing “America the Beautiful,” Abbott Elementary star Sheryl Lee Ralph will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing” and Rihanna is taking over the halftime show. Super Bowl LVII airs on Fox at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT. Want to catch the action in person? Click here to buy tickets to the Super Bowl.

The NFL announced today the musical lineup for its inaugural Pro Bowl Games, the multi-day programming slate that is replacing the traditional Pro Bowl exhibition game for the first time this year. Rae Sremmurd will headline the halftime show of the main event on Sunday, Feb. 5, which will be a flag football game between representatives of the AFC and NFC this year instead of a contact event.

The main event will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, from 3pm-6pm EST on that Sunday on ABC and ESPN. In addition to Rae Sremmurd, performers include country singer Jessie James Decker singing the national anthem, the Las Vegas Academy Choir performing “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” and additional appearances by DJ Esther Anaya and the Blue Man Group.

In addition to the flagship flag football game that Sunday, the Pro Bowl Games will include a skills competition on Thursday, Feb. 2 from 7pm-8:30 EST on ESPN, which will then continue on Sunday. That competition will include multiple rounds of dodgeball; a three-part “lightning round” event that will involve a water balloon toss and a water bucket challenge; a golf event; a quarterback accuracy competition; a “best catch” contest; a kicking tic-tac-toe challenge; and more. The winner of each challenge will earn points for their conference, which will be added to points earned from each of two initial flag football games on the Sunday; the points accumulated by all those events will then determine the opening score of the final flag football game. Hard to explain but sounds like fun.

The Pro Bowl Games are taking place the week between the NFL’s conference championship games and the Super Bowl, which will be held Sunday, Feb. 12 in Glendale, Arizona. Rihanna is headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show, the first year it will be presented by Apple Music.

Fenty and football: A perfect match. With just three weeks left until Rihanna makes her Super Bowl halftime debut, the superstar dropped a new collection of merch to help fans suit up for game day.

The “Lift Me Up” singer teamed with sporting goods giant Mitchell & Ness for a capsule collection available at NFLshop.com, Fanatics.com and MitchellandNess.com.

The Fenty x Mitchell & Ness collection showcases “diversity, equality and freedom.” Featured among the nine unisex pieces are oversize, long-sleeve shirts, along with tees and hoodies available in black or white.

The collection includes a full-snap coaches jacket (only available in black) with NFL and Super Bowl LVII patches embroidered on the front and football and Fenty U.S.A. on the back. Every piece from the collection features either screen-printed graphics or embroidered logos.

Looking for something nostalgic? Rihanna has you covered. The collection includes a retro-style tee with the words “Fenty Athletics” airbrushed across the front. There’s also shirts and hoodies with a photo of Rihanna’s hand holding up a football (the same photo used in Rihanna’s and the NFL’s halftime announcement last year.)

After joining Dr. Dre’s Super Bowl halftime show last year, Snoop Dogg is returning to the gridiron this year for the NFL Pro Bowl Games.

The “Gin and Juice” rapper was announced as a captain for this year’s NFL Pro Bowl Games alongside former quarterback Peyton Manning on Thursday (Jan. 19). The rapper will represent the AFC with retired NFL star, while Pete Davidson — also a captain this year — will join Peyton’s fellow quarterback brother Eli Manning with the NFC.

The 2023 NFL Pro Bowl Games will take place one week before Super Bowl LVII, on Feb. 5 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The games — which have run under the names National Football League All-Star Game (1939–1942) or Pro Bowl (1951–2022) — is an annual event held by the NFL that features several of its star players going head to head in a series of both football and non-football tests of athleticism.

Fans can purchase tickets to the 2023 NFL Pro Bowl Games here.

As for the 2023 Super Bowl, the game will air Sunday, Feb. 15. Rihanna is scheduled to perform at the Apple Music Halftime Show (see our dream setlist for her performance here).
