Streaming platform Veeps has introduced a new way to watch artists hit the stage no matter where you are in the world through the new premium subscription service Veeps All Access. The platform is filled with a catalog of on-demand concerts, live music and comedy specials from a wide range of major bands and artists. All Access gives you unlimited virtual entry to all of it for a small monthly (or yearly) price. I had the opportunity to check it out first-hand – here’s what I thought.

Normally, if I can’t attend a concert in person, I attempt to find live coverage of my favorite artists on tour through TikTok videos, Instagram or clips posted to other social media channels, which ends up being time-consuming and the video and sound quality is never guaranteed. Veeps All Access changes that, and after watching The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie’s Phoenix concert for the Give Up & Transatlanticism 20th Anniversary Tour, I can attest that it’s like having your own private concert movie experience.

One of the major benefits of the streamer, for me, is the option to sit on my couch in comfort, rather than scour the venue for an optimal viewpoint. It also avoids having to stand for long periods of time or squint at a video screen from the nosebleeds. Plus, if I wanted to get up and dance, I didn’t have to worry about annoyed glances that usually come with dancing in packed concert crowds.

The camerawork was incredible, providing top-tier views of the stage and band with close-ups and views I normally would never see standing in the crowd.

I was also unexpectedly able to easily grab merch! No long lines or trying to determine the right moment to commit to standing in line. The virtual merch booth is located in a convenient sidebar within the app — I just clicked on the “Merch” button and was presented with all the available options to purchase right then and there as the show goes on.

When it comes to connecting with other fans like you might at a concert, there’s an optional chat box. When it’s open, a live thread appears with fans commenting and sending emojis. I was watching an on-demand show, but could still send messages or go back and see what everyone had said when it initially aired.

This was my first time seeing the Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie perform on this tour, but if you already hit one of the many sold-out tour stops, streaming the show on Veeps All Access is a great way to relive an amazing concert experience on-demand and catch all the moments you might have missed while grabbing a drink or hitting the bathroom.

The platform requires a subscription to access both on-demand and live performances, but it’s completely worth it. A ticket to the show I watched cost $17.99 on its own, so the best deal is to sign up for a monthly Veeps All Access subscription at $11.99/month, which gets you into all the content on the platform for one low price. You can also opt for an annual subscription for $120/year, which saves you $20. Subscribe here or click the button below to start streaming today.

Veeps Subscription: $11.99/month or $120/year

Whether you’re on a budget, the show’s sold out, or you just want to stay home but don’t want to miss your favorite singer perform onstage, Veeps is making it easier than ever to keep seeing live music.

How to Watch Concerts With Veeps All Access

You can livestream or rewatch performances from most Internet-connected devices, like a smartphone, tablet, laptop and TV. The streaming platform has its own dedicated app on Apple TV and Roku and mobile (iOS and Android).

If you’re watching it through your TV, make sure to download the app, or you can use Chromecast or Airplay from your computer or mobile device.

Want to gift a concert or unlimited concerts to a music-loving friend, family member or colleague? You can purchase a gift ticket to any of the shows on Veeps to send to whomever you want, which will be securely sent through email. You can also choose to gift a six or 12 month subscription for them to enjoy that show and many, many more.

Since the dawn of the dotcom bubble, countless promising tech companies have flamed out shortly after starting up, often dragging investors down with them.

Billboard asked three prominent music tech advocates to identify the red flags that investors need to watch for and applied them to three sectors once touted as the future but since consigned to the past.

NFTs

One of the most-hyped tech innovations in recent years, non-fungible tokens generated $25 billion in total sales in 2021, according to market tracker DappRadar. The digital collectibles that are bought and sold using digital currencies drew big-name investors such as Jack Dorsey, Mark Cuban and Guy Oseary and generated millions from successful NFT sales by artists like Diplo, Grimes and The Weeknd. But today, the chat rooms where NFT investors gather are “just such a sad place,” Diplo told Billboard in August. “It was such a mountain of hype.”

The once-popular Bored Ape Yacht Club collection, which Oseary represented and celebrities including Jimmy Fallon, Madonna and Justin Bieber promoted, has seen its floor price — a minimum dollar amount that indicates market demand — decline by 88% from its peak in April 2022. (Two money-losing Bored Ape NFT holders subsequently sued those celebrities, alleging they failed to disclose their financial stake in the company they were promoting.) The lesson? Raised in Space music/tech investment fund founder and managing partner Shara Senderoff says it’s crucial to remain “unfazed by the allure of potential brand partnerships, inflated market-size potential or endorsements from other investors. What truly matters is a focus on revenue generation and the scalability of the business model.”

Livestreaming

In the first year of the pandemic, over two dozen livestreaming companies launched — including Sessions, Bulldog DM and Dreamstage — offering fans the ability to stream concerts at home. Among the investors in the reportedly $1 billion industry were Sony Music Entertainment, Scooter Braun, Deezer and Superfly founder Rick Farman, drawn in by the industry veterans leading the companies and high lockdown demand. Over 113 million U.S. internet users viewed livestreams in the second quarter of 2020, according to market research and analysis company MusicWatch.

Ultimately, fans were overwhelmed. Bandsintown aggregated more than 44,000 global livestream events from late March 2020 to August 2021 — and once in-person events resumed, demand dwindled. After a wave of consolidation, only a few companies like Veeps, which Live Nation acquired in January 2021, claim to remain popular. Artist Partner Group/Artist Publishing Group head Mike Caren says he always looks for businesses that offer “a clear road map for their future development,” which in this case ought to have factored in the resumption of in-person live events.

Social Audio

Another area of music tech that flourished during the pandemic, social audio startups from Spotify, Amazon, X (formerly Twitter) and Clubhouse have all shut down or changed strategy in recent months. At its height, Amazon’s Amp, which the company closed in October, let users host their own shows by streaming music and drew high-profile acts like Lil Yachty, Nicki Minaj and Travis Barker for hosting gigs. While one such platform, Stationhead, remains popular, Raine Group partner Joe Puthenveetil is among investors who say it is usually wise to avoid “companies that rely on buzzwords” over time-tested business metrics.

In episode one, Kim opens up to her mom about her divorce from Kanye West and the rapper’s public tirades against her. “I have to sit here and not say anything ever because I know one day my kids will appreciate that, and I know that is the best thing for them,” says the mom of four, who admitted to blasting West’s music in the car and pretending everything is fine in front of their kids. “I will be his biggest cheerleader forever and one day, [the kids] see for themselves.”

“The one that was supposed to protect me, and still does interviews saying they will be my ‘forever protector,’ is the one that is hurting me the most,” she continues. “He was the one that started a rumor that said I was hooking up with Drake, having an affair our whole marriage. He accused me of that publicly … I really can’t wrap my head around how he thinks he is a protector.”

Several months after shutting down his SiriusXM station, Garth Brooks has found a new radio home.

Starting this summer, Brooks will launch SEVENS Radio Network through TuneIn, the free livestreaming audio platform with more than 75 million monthly active users and distribution across 200 platforms and connected devices.

SEVENS Radio will include multiple stations dedicated to country music and more, all curated and conceived by Brooks. “I’m excited about the future of TuneIn and feel lucky to announce a partnership with them,” said Brooks in a statement. “The thought of a global network of stations uniting all music fans is something I want to be a part of. The possibilities are bigger than I can dream.”

TuneIn already boasts more than 100,000 stations, accessible by downloading the TuneIn app for Android or iOS, via tunein.com or through smart speakers. Ad-supported content is available for free; listeners can also choose a commercial-free premium service.

“Garth Brooks is a tireless entrepreneur and one of the most recognizable stars in the world. When he shared his vision for SEVENS Radio, we knew TuneIn should be his home,” said TuneIn CEO Rich Stern. “At TuneIn, we believe in the power of radio and those artists who are passionate about it. Garth and the entire SEVENS team are creating something we believe fans will love and we’re so proud to have them on TuneIn.”

Brooks, the top-selling solo artist in the United States with more than 156 million domestic albums sold, according to the RIAA, comes to TuneIn after six years spent helming the 24/7 Garth Channel on SiriusXM, which ceased airing on September 30.

SEVENS will fill and expand the void left by the end of the Garth Channel, which had served as a community hub for Brooks and his fans since its launch in 2016. The singer frequently appeared on the channel, sharing his experiences with the artists the outlet played, while the station offered fun bits of Brooks trivia. The Garth Channel featured Brooks’ music roughly 25% of the time, with the rest of the airplay dedicated to artists he liked, including acts he grew up on, his contemporaries and newer performers.
