Cardi B has come one step closer to getting her coins in her defamation lawsuit, as a judge has ordered vlogger Tasha K to secure the award amount with a bond.

According to AllHipHop, Judge William M. Ray II has granted Cardi B’s motion requesting a Supersedeas Bond, which requires the internet personality to provide collateral to cover a payment of $3,863,753.47 through a bond company.

The decision comes after Tasha (real name Latasha Kebe) requested the courts stop the “Up” rapper’s attempt to garnish her wages.

“When and if the Defendants post a bond in the amount of $3,863,753.47 which guarantees unconditionally to pay said amount in satisfaction of the Judgment awarded by the Court to the Plaintiff,” Ray wrote in court documents,  “then and in that event the Court also GRANTS the Defendants’ Motion to Stay. Otherwise, the Defendants’ Motion to Stay is DENIED.”

The bond allows Tasha K to move forward with any attempts she might make to appeal the judgement granted in Cardi B’s favor in January. However, it also serves to make sure that, should her appeals be denied, the court will be able to pay the close to $4 million award immediately.

Tasha made a request to have the bond thrown out altogether, thus effectively giving her more time to make the full payment — a request which Ray struck down.

“The Court grants the Defendants the right to supplement their pleadings with authority as to why they are entitled to a hearing, and in any event to provide through their pleadings evidence which would justify a bond in an amount less than the full amount of the Judgment,” Ray said. “If such evidence is provided through supplementation of the pleadings, then the Court would re-examine whether the amount of the bond as set herein should be modified.”

In January, Cardi B was initially awarded $1.25 million in damages after seeking $75,000 in a defamation lawsuit in 2019. Her beef with Tasha K stems from the “Press” rapper claiming the vlogger made a video on her popular unWinewithTashaK YouTube channel that said the rapper was a prostitute and had herpes.

Tasha K countered with a $3 million lawsuit alleging Cardi sent Blood gang members to threaten her. A federal judge tossed out the counter claim, saying Tasha didn’t have enough evidence to prove Cardi brought her any distress.

Despite Cardi B’s victory in January, the case has dragged on, with Tasha K filing what would be the first of several appeals in the case in March. This latest development may finally bring the years-long ordeal to an end.

50 Cent has released a preview of his new podcast Surviving El Chapo: The Twins Who Brought Down a Drug Lord.

The upcoming podcast is based on the real-life story of Chicago-born identical twins Peter and Jay Flores who were responsible for taking down the infamous Mexican crime boss, Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, aka El Chapo.

Set to stream on the iHeartRadio app and other platforms on October 19, Surviving EL Chapo will give listeners an in-depth perspective of the inner workings of the notorious criminal enterprise.

“After two successful prison escapes and three arrests, Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán is finally behind bars in the United States,” the podcast’s synopsis reads. “But it wasn’t easy to finally capture the most prolific and dangerous drug lord. In the end, it took twin brothers from Chicago to bring down the powerful Cartel dealer – and they’ll pay for it for the rest of their lives.

“Produced by Lionsgate Sound and Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson’s G-Unit Audio in collaboration with iHeartPodcasts, Surviving El Chapo: The Twins Who Brought Down a Drug Lord dives into the incredible story of the Flores brothers. 

The synopsis continued: “Speaking publicly for the first time ever with co-hosts Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson and investigative journalist Charlie Webster, Chicago-born identical twins Jay and Peter Flores let listeners into how they went from dealing $2 billion worth of drugs across the country as North America’s most successful cocaine traffickers to government informants who brought down the infamous drug lord, ‘El Chapo.’”

50 Cent will host produce the eight-part series along with journalist Charlie Webster.

The G-Unit mogul took to Instagram to share a preview clip of the podcast. “This is the first time the twins speak, they moved over 130 tons of cocaine and heroin. This story is wild, It’s just a different level. This is going to be the New NARCOS,” he wrote.

In addition to launching Surviving El Chapo, 50 Cent also recently announced that he’s teaming up with DJ Envy for a reality show Property Players.

The series, which follows real estate entrepreneur Caesar Pina as he manages his family-run property company, will be produced by 50 Cent’s G-Unit Films and Television banner, Fly on the Wall Entertainment, and Lionsgate TV.

On the music side of things, 50 Cent paid a visit to The Breakfast Club in August where he addressed the rumors he was working on his final album.

According to the South Jamaica, Queens native, he doesn’t want to drop it the traditional way, and instead, possibly release it in parts as a companion piece to one of his many TV shows.

6ix9ine is reportedly missing in action causing his lawyers to withdraw from representing the rapper because of unpaid legal bills.

According to AllHipHop, the law firm Meloni & McCaffrey gave notice to U.S. District Judge Hector Gonzalez that is plans to immediately process their withdrawal and will longer provide legal counsel to 6ix9ine (real name Daniel Hernandez).

In an official statement, attorney Robert Meloni explained his numerous issues with his client including their lack of communication.

“From June 2021 until March 2022, I had sporadic communications directly with Mr. Hernandez, and mainly communicated with him via texts,” Meloni wrote. “At the beginning of the representation, until March 2022, I communicated almost entirely with Justin Kobay, the business manager for Mr. Hernandez and his companies whenever I needed to consult with someone about this action or the other matters I was handling for Mr. Hernandez. Mr. Kobay would act as a liaison. However, Mr. Kobay resigned as business manager for Mr. Hernandez in March 2022.”

Meloni also noted that he would discuss legal matters with 6ix9ine’s brother Oscar Hernandez on occasion but the two haven’t communicated on the phone, by email, or text since September.

“There is now a total breakdown in communication between Mr. Hernandez and the Firm,” he continued. “Mr. Hernandez’s last communication with me took place in early March 2022 relating to one of the other litigations. Finally, I just learned that Mr. Hernandez changed his phone number, which he did not tell me about himself. He did not provide me with his new mobile number.”

Due to his inability to locate 6ix9ine, the withdrawal letter was sent via email.

“Because the Firm has no current physical address for Mr. Hernandez, the Firm plans to request that the Court permit service of the Firm’s anticipated motion by way of email to Mr. Hernandez’s brother Oscar Hernandez,” Meloni wrote. “The Firm will send a copy of this letter to Oscar Hernandez as well.”

Being on the outs with his lawyers is just the latest legal problem for 6ix9ine. In September, he lost a bid to trademark his own stage name to another artist.

Warren Hamilton claimed that he’s been using SIX9 as his stage name since 2007 and filed a lawsuit against 6ix9ine in July. Because he failed to respond, 6ix9ine lost the trademark.

MC Serch has started fielding offers for the sale of his ownership stake of Nas‘ catalog, which includes both the latter’s critically acclaimed debut and sophomore projects.

Serch, who had helped Nas land his deal at Columbia Records, served as the executive producer on Nas’ 1994 album, Illmatic. He reprised that role in 1996, helping to bring It Was Written to life.

“I have decided to sell all of the rights, including the global rights,” the 3rd Bass founder told AllHipHop. “I started conversations with several companies a few months ago. For 27 years, it has provided my family through good times and bad. Now it’s time for a new chapter.”

While they arrived decades before Nas would win his first Grammy, both albums marked career milestones for the Queensbridge MC. Illmatic remains one of the most highly celebrated debuts in Hip Hop and holds the distinction of being one of the only Rap albums included in the Library Of Congress.

Serch’s ownership of Illmatic infamously spawned one of the most memorable lines in the long feud between Nas and JAY-Z, when on “Takeover” Hov referenced paying Serchlite Publishing for the right to sample “The World Is Yours” on “Dead Presidents.”

The album sparked new interest last year, as it served as the soundtrack to Ozark character Ruth Langmore’s life during the popular Netflix series’ final season, which even found her discussing the album and it’s impact with Killer Mike.

Despite not initially being as well received by critics as its predecessor, It Was Written was a turning point for Nas in terms of commercial success. It became the rapper’s first multi-platinum selling album within less than three months of its release and spawned what remains his only platinum-selling single, “If I Ruled The World,” featuring Lauryn Hill.

According to AllHipHop, Serch estimates both projects combined are still streamed at least 250 million times a year.

In the sale of Nas’ catalog, Serch and his production company Serchlite are being represented by Richard Blackstone, Roger Miller, and Stephen S. Sidman. They are reportedly already fielding several offers.

This isn’t the first time MC Serch’s business dealings have made headlines this year. In February, he and partners Rory Felton, Blake Modersitzki and Ryan Singer came under fire when their web3 company, HitPiece, was accused of selling music as NFTs without the artists’ permission.

The company was shut down in February, after the RIAA’s chief legal officer Ken Doroshow called it a “scam operation,” Okayplayer reported. The site has since relaunched, rebranding itself as “the easiest place to buy authentic music artist NFTs.”

HitPiece also partnered with music rights identification company Audible Magic to ensure that the ownership of all music used on the platform can be authenticated.

Ginuwine had a bit of a scare this week when he passed out during a magic trick performed by famed entertainer Criss Angel.

The “Pony” singer lost consciousness during an underwater stunt while rehearsing for The CW’s Magic With the Stars.

The Daily Mail obtained footage of Ginuwine holding his breath while submerged under water in a glass cube. Soon after, the R&B star is seen banging on the sides of the box to signal he was in trouble.

A number of people are then seen rushing to the R&B singer’s aid, pulling him out of the box and attempting to calm him down before he ultimately passes out.

According to the publication, an ambulance was called and Ginuwine was carted off while still unconscious.

“It all happened so fast, it was like he got tapped out in a fight,” a source told the UK publication. “In the show he was trying to overcome his fear of being under water as he couldn’t hold his breath for longer than 15 seconds before trying the stunt out.

“Although he failed in rehearsals, he still went ahead with the stunt on the show and everyone was in tears.”

A member of Ginuwine’s team confirmed to Page Six that the singer “made a full recovery.”

“Ginuwine is okay and he made a full recovery,” the rep said. “He was conquering a fear. Fortunately everything is okay as he was working with Criss Angel, who’s the best in the business.”

Magic With the Stars premieres on October 22.

Switching to a different kind of magic, Nas and Hit-Boy are gearing up to release a limited-edition pink vinyl of their 2021 album Magic, with all the proceeds being donated to charity.

The duo will be revamping their latest collaborative effort to help raise money for the Red Door Community in New York City, which strives to provide community and caregivers for people battling cancer or for people who have lost someone to cancer.

The special edition vinyl version of Magic will be released as part of their annual Ten Bands One Cause program, which selects 10 artists to reissue their music in support of Red Door.

The vinyl will drop on October 28 alongside two other major releases from The Black Keys and the Bangles. BadBadNotGood will also release a new version of their 2016 album IV at the end of the year.
