Sam Smith and Kim Petras Extend ‘Unholy’ U.K. Chart Reign

Sam Smith and Kim Petras make it a hattrick as “Unholy” (via EMI) claims a third consecutive week at No. 1 in the U.K.

The track draws level with Smith’s 2017 single “Too Good At Goodbyes” as their second-longest-running No. 1 hit, with both songs boasting three straight weeks at the summit.

Of Smith’s eight U.K. No. 1s, none has logged more time at the top than their “Promises” collaboration with Calvin Harris, at six weeks.

“Unholy” leads an unchanged top three, ahead of David Guetta and Bebe Rexha’s “I’m Good (Blue)” (via Parlophone) and Lewis Capaldi’s “Forget Me” (Vertigo), respectively.

Beyoncé’s “Cuff It” (Columbia/Parkwood Ent) is enjoying a renaissance after going viral on social media. The single lifts 10-5 for a new chart high in its 11th week on the Official U.K. Singles Chart.

Also on the rise is Anne-Marie and Aitch’s “Psycho” (Atlantic), up 12-9 for its first stint in the top 10. “Psycho” leads Aitch’s three appearances in the top 40 of the latest U.K. chart frame, published Friday, Oct. 14, with Ed Sheeran collab “My G” (Asylum/Capitol) up 16-14, and Tion Wayne alliance “Let’s Go” (Atlantic) debuting at No. 30.

Another song on the rise after turning viral on TikTok is Tom Odell’s 2010 release “Another Love,” up 18-13. That’s the highest chart position for the track since July 2013, and it’s closing in on its peak of No. 10. The debut from the BRITs Critics Choice winner began trending alongside protest videos, including tributes in response to the death of 22-year-old Iranian woman Mahsa Amini in suspicious circumstances.

A slew of singles rise on the latest survey, including Lizzo’s “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)” (via Atlantic), up 20-16; Rema’s “Calm Down” (Mavin) up 21-17; Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran’s “For My Hand” (Atlantic) up 19-18; Cian Ducrot’s “All For You” (Polydor) up 23-19; Venbee and Goddard’s “Messy In Heaven” (Columbia) up 38-20 and d4vd’s “Romantic Suicide” (DVD4) 31-22.

The highest new debut on the latest frame belongs to Mimi Webb, as “Ghost Of You” (Epic) starts at No. 23. Lifted from her forthcoming debut album Amelia, “Ghost Of You” is Webb’s fifth top 40 appearance.

Finally, Oliver Tree and Robin Schulz snag a top 40 debut with “Miss You” (Atlantic), new at No. 28. It’s Tree’s highest chart position in the U.K. and his second top 40 after “Life Goes On,” which last year peaked at No. 33, and it’s Schulz’ fourth appearance in the top tier.

Styles performed at the city’s United Center, where Lizzo would be returning to headline her own concert on The Special Tour Sunday night.

“ALL THE RUMORS ARE TRUE, YEAH! @Lizzo and Harry Styles were under one roof here at Harry’s House in Chicago,” the venue posted.

The first glimpse at the pair’s wholesome friendship started back in 2019, when Styles visited the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge and covered Lizzo’s smash hit “Juice.” “She’s exactly what you want an artist to be… which is yourself,” he said in the interview.

Rachel Zegler Responds to Live-Action ‘Snow White’ Being Labeled Politically Correct

Rachel Zegler is addressing the scrutiny she’s faced doing press for two high-profile movies, Disney’s upcoming live-action Snow White and last year’s West Side Story.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the actress opened up about the pressures around two of her earliest and biggest big-screen credits. That includes her role in Snow White, with the actress responding to what she describes as “jokes” about the modern update, which features her — a Latina — in the titular role and consultants who have been brought in to address the representation of the film’s dwarfism community.

“People are making these jokes about ours being the PC Snow White, where it’s like, yeah, it is — because it needed that,” the actress said. “It’s an 85-year-old cartoon, and our version is a refreshing story about a young woman who has a function beyond ‘Someday My Prince Will Come.’”

In January, Disney addressed its handling of the “seven dwarfs” characters after Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage criticized the live-action remake.

“Literally no offense to anyone, but I was a little taken aback when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White — but you’re still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there. It makes no sense to me. You’re progressive in one way, but then you’re still making that f—ing backward story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together?” the actor said in an episode of Marc Maron’s WTF podcast.

In a statement, a Disney spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter it had hired consultants, with the studio reportedly reimagining the dwarf characters, who it said would be CG/animated, from the movie’s earliest stages.

“To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community,” the spokesperson said. “We look forward to sharing more as the film heads into production after a lengthy development period.”

Zegler also discussed her experience during the press tour for her breakout role as María in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, which she filmed while 17 years old. The actress noted that having to juggle questions about her identity as a Colombian American playing a Puerto Rican while also grappling with responses to her be cast as Snow White made it particularly “stressful.”

“I don’t think there could be a more stressful press tour than what I had to do for West Side Story,” she said. “Having to answer for a lot of cultural questions and at the same time answer for why I got cast as a Disney princess that isn’t associated with my skin color — it was bizarre.”

Officers called to the campus of Livingstone College in Salisbury around 11 p.m. found two people shot and others who were hurt as attendees fled the gunfire, city officials said in a statement.

Video footage from the concert shows that a fight broke out while Asian Doll was on stage. One person, who isn’t a Livingstone student, then fired one or more shots, police and school officials said in a joint statement.

A male victim with a gunshot wound was flown to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, where he was in stable condition, and a female victim with a graze wound was treated at a local hospital and released, city spokesperson Linda McElroy said in a text on Sunday afternoon. She could not say whether the victims were adults.

No arrests had been made, McElroy said.

Livingstone, a private, historically Black school, is located in Salisbury, which is about 35 miles (56 kilometers) northeast of Charlotte.

The school’s priority is to ensure students’ mental health and evaluate public safety measures to create a safe environment, Livingstone President Dr. Anthony J. Davis said in a statement. The college is cooperating with police as they investigate, he said.

Z-Ro Arrested On Gun Charge Following Traffic Stop In Houston

Houston, TX – Z-Ro is currently being held in the Harris County Jail after police discovered a weapon in his car during a traffic stop in his native Houston.

In a post to his official Facebook account on Friday (October 14), Harris County Constable Mark Herman revealed that the rapper, born Joseph McVey, had been pulled over in the 7500 block of N Sam Houston Pkwy W. Z-Ro, who is a convicted felon, immediately identified himself and informed the arresting officers that he was in possession of a firearm.

The post did not indicate what kind of weapon was recovered. However, upon further investigation, authorities uncovered 4.7 ounces of marijuana.

“Joseph Mcvey was arrested and booked into the Harris County jail, charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm,” Herman wrote. “His bond and court information have not been set at this time.”

While it’s unclear what felony arrest remains on the Houston native’s record, Z-Ro was arrested in July 2017 after then-girlfriend, fellow rapper Just Brittany, accused him of assaulting her in her home.

The police report stated that the couple had plans to meet at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse on April 29, 2017, but the restaurant was closed. The pair met up at Z-Ro’s house instead, where an argument broke out after a conversation about the failed dinner date.

Z-Ro was accused of slapping, punching and dragging her around the house while holding a gun, with Brittany offering video evidence of the alleged altercation. The assault charges were eventually reduced to a misdemeanor, then dismissed altogether two years later.

Trae Tha Truth Caught Kicking & Punching Z-Ro In Newly Surfaced Video

Earlier this year, the No Love Boulevard rapper made headlines when he and fellow Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth were involved in an altercation, which was captured by fans and posted on social media.

Speaking to TMZ after the fight, Z-Ro claimed he was essentially ambushed by Trae and his crew on August 27 during 50 Cent’s Tycoon weekend in Houston.

“[I was] minding my business and when I walked outside, it was like, I’m called over to the side of sprinter van and he was like, ‘Ay, when you get finished doin’ that, come take this walk with me right quick,” he recalled.

“So, when the video comes on. it’s me making sure, like, you know, I’m not gon’ go home looking like I just fought a football team. I don’t even live my life like that. I got too much positive shit goin’ on, I obviously didn’t expect no shit like that, really.”

Trae Tha Truth and Z-Ro’s relationship went sour sometime in 2012, but they refuse to call it beef. “Wasn’t ever no beef, it was no misunderstanding,” the latter has said of the rift. “It was just two people grew apart.”

Boosie Badazz Recalls Being Robbed In L.A.: ‘That Muthafucka Dangerous’

Boosie Badazz has revealed he got robbed in Los Angeles and is warning other rappers to take every necessary precaution for their protection while in the City of Angels.

In a new interview with Drink Champs, Boosie detailed several run-ins he’s experienced in L.A., including the time his truck was stolen while he was recording an episode of the No Jumper podcast.

“Bro, we got so many dudes that got robbed in L.A. who ain’t talking about it … That muthafucka dangerous. It’s really dangerous. I was at No Jumper and n-ggas stole our truck! I’m at the interview and n-ggas stole my muthafucking truck,” he said, seemingly referring to his appearance on the podcast in 2018.

On another occasion, Boosie Badazz said a vehicle belonging to a member of his entourage was broken into.

“I’m at a strip club, they break into one of my other bitches’ car,” he said. “Aye bruh, they out to get it. They tried to get my artist. Like bro, this shit real out there.”

The Baton Rouge native revealed he runs at least “10 deep” every time he visits L.A. for his own protection.

“I move kinda deep. I bring all my people from Louisiana,” he said. “And I’m in and out. N-gga, I’m not hanging in no L.A. I’m coming to do a deal, whoop de woo, and I’m out probably the next day. I know it ain’t safe, my people know it ain’t safe, the whole industry know. N-ggas getting jacked out there. You gotta be ready.”

Boosie Badazz’s comments follow several acts of violence committed against rappers in Los Angeles in recent months. On Friday (October 14), it was reported that Megan Thee Stallion was the victim of a home invasion that saw robbers leave with almost $500,000 in jewelry, cash, and electronics.

In September, PnB Rock was fatally shot during a robbery at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles. Later that month, Tee Grizzley’s Porter Ranch home was burglarized for over $1 million worth of jewelry and cash.

Boosie Badazz Reveals Nipsey Hussle ‘Protected’ Him In L.A.

During an interview with VladTV back in March, Boosie Badazz cautioned rappers to be extra careful when in L.A. following the shooting of Kodak Black.

“I don’t know if that was the situation, but when I’m out in public, you always gotta be worried about [things] when you develop a past like that,” he said. “That’s why my most peaceful times [are] at my crib. When I’m out in the street, regardless of what I’m doing, I’m looking over my shoulder. I got a life of looking over my shoulder.”

“That’s where all the rappers get robbed, you know, they can’t protect you in L.A. I only go to L.A. to take care of something, get money, get money on business terms,” he added. “I’m at Universal Studios, I’m trying to get money. Wherever I’m at, I’m not in the streets in L.A. I don’t really got nobody to protect me in L.A. but me.”

Cam’ron Slides Into Nia Long’s DMs Following Ime Udoka Cheating Scandal

Cam’ron is looking to woo Nia Long after her fiancé Ime Udoka’s alleged infidelity.

The Harlem rapper took to Instagram on Sunday (October 16) to share screenshots of several paragraphs of flowery language he sent the 51-year-old actress in an Instagram DM.

“Hey stink. I was giving you some time to yourself till I reached out,” Cam’ron’s romantic message began. “Your perseverance as a strong black woman through this turbulent time has been something to behold.

“You shouldn’t be taken advantage of and exploited as you did nothing to deserve this. Especially all over these sports networks. You’re bigger and better then [sic] that. You’re a queen, and by the way I’m a king. Together we can achieve the greatness we were both destine [sic] for as a couple.”

He continued: “As I sit here sipping gazpacho and watching ‘the best man’ I was inspired to reach out, because that’s what I am the best man for you!! Hope to hear from you soon my Mi- amor or should I say ‘Ni-amour,’” before signing off with a series of love heart emojis.

Unfortunately for Cam’ron, his poetic attempt at charming Nia Long has so far been unsuccessful. “This was last week. Still no response [angry face emojis] [face palm emojis] Lolol,” he confessed in the caption.

Cam’ron’s overture comes just weeks after it emerged that Nia Long’s longtime partner, Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka, had an affair with an employee of the franchise. Udoka was suspended for the entire 2022-23 NBA season after violating the Celtics’ code of conduct.

Long and Udoka began dating in 2010 and have been engaged since 2015. The couple share a 10-year-old son, Kez.

J. Cole Trends On Twitter Thanks To Ime Udoka-Nia Long Cheating Allegations

Nia Long, who has appeared in such films as Friday, Boyz N the Hood and Love Jones and on television opposite Will Smith on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, has yet to release a statement regarding her relationship status.

But her ex, Massai Zhivago Dorsey — the father of her son Massai Zhivago Dorsey Jr. — told the DailyMail earlier this month that he believes the couple will remain together.

“We talk as a family, and it’s all about unconditional love, and that’s what she’s giving him,” Dorsey said. “We’re sticking by him 100 percent. Ime made a mistake. Every man needs another chance. Like the Bible says, the flesh is weak. He’s not a bad guy. Hopefully, he’s learned from this.”

Fans Choose The 1975’s ‘Being Funny in a Foreign Language’ as This Week’s Favorite New Music

The 1975‘s latest album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language, has topped this week’s new music poll.

Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (Oct. 14) on Billboard, choosing the British pop-rock band’s fifth studio project as their favorite new music release of the past week.

Being Funny in a Foreign Language beat out new music by Blink-182 (“Edging”), Lil Baby (It’s Only Me), Nessa Barrett (Young Forever), Red Hot Chili Peppers (Return of the Dream Canteen), and others.

The Jack Antonoff-produced album features previously released singles “Happiness,” “Part of the Band,” “I’m in Love With You” and “All I Need to Hear.” The set continues to offer the glimmering, alternative-tinged pop music longtime fans of the band know and love. Standout track “Oh Caroline” recalls The 1975’s work on its self-titled LP and sophomore release, I Like It When You Sleep, with 1980s-inspired synthesizers and concentrated efforts from every member in the band.

Trailing behind Being Funny in a Foreign Language on the fan-voted poll was Blink-182’s new song “Edging,” with almost 18% of the vote. Blink recently announced that the pop-punk trio’s original lineup of singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge, singer/bassist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker were reuniting for a new album and a world tour.

Placing third on the list was the “other” category, with 12.3% of the vote, followed by Lil Baby’s new album, It’s Only Me, with 11.5%.

Selena Gomez & Hailey Bieber Pose for Photos Together at Academy Museum Gala

Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber united publicly, embracing one another for photos together Saturday night (Oct. 15).

Gomez and Bieber leaned in close and even shared a hug in front of the camera while attending the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures 2nd Annual Gala, which was presented by Rolex.

The smiling pair’s surprising appearance together comes after Hailey Bieber recently confronted longtime rumors that she “stole” husband Justin Bieber from Selena Gomez, his ex. She adamantly denied that narrative and opened up about the online hate she’s received on an episode of Alex Cooper’s Spotify podcast Call Her Daddy.

“It’s not in my character to mess with someone’s relationship … I’m not interested in doing that and I never was … I can say, period, point blank, I was never with him when he was in a relationship with anybody. That’s the end of it,” Hailey stated, later adding, “It’s about people knowing the truth, because there’s a truth.”

Following the revealing interview, Gomez shared some brutal honesty on how she feels about fans bullying others on her behalf. On a TikTok livestream, she said, “I think some of the things that I don’t even need to be aware of are just vile and disgusting, and it’s not fair, and no one, ever, should be spoken to in the manner that I’ve seen.”

The Los Angeles event where Gomez and Bieber crossed paths on Saturday honored Julia Roberts with the Academy inaugural Museum Gala Icon Award, Tilda Swinton with the Visionary Award, Steve McQueen with the Vantage Award and Miky Lee with the Pillar Award.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Diana Ross dropped in for a special surprise performance, and this year’s gala raised $10 million to support the museum’s access, education and programming initiatives.
