“Due to sickness within the touring party, we will be rescheduling our show tonight at Chase Center in San Francisco to Monday, August 7, 2023,” a statement posted on Paramore’s Twitter account said.

“Previously purchased tickets are valid for the rescheduled date. If you cannot attend the rescheduled date and would like a refund, instructions will be sent to all ticket purchasers and refunds will be offered for the next 7 days,” read the post.

The note, which was also shared on Chase Center’s social media accounts, concluded with “We look forward you all soon at the next Paramore show.”

Paramore’s next concert is scheduled for Monday, July 24 at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena.

The band is currently on its This Is Why Tour in support of its studio album of the same name, and set to wrap the trek in August. It was recently announced that Paramore is heading to Europe as a supporting act on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, beginning on May 9, 2024.

The Kid LAROI Performs Surprise Set at Hotel Bar After Malaysia Music Festival Is Canceled

The Kid LAROI didn’t let fans down when Malaysia’s Good Vibes Festival — which he was scheduled to headline Saturday (July 22) — was unexpectedly called off.

The fest’s sudden cancelation came after The 1975’s set on Friday, when frontman Matty Healy slammed the country’s restrictive LGBTQ laws as “f—ing ridiculous” and shared a long kiss with bandmate Ross MacDonald on stage. In an official statement, Good Vibes noted the decision adhered to a directive from the Ministry of Communications and Digital, which has an “unwavering stance against any parties that challenge, ridicule, or contravene Malaysian laws.”

So on Saturday night, with no concert to headline in Kuala Lumpur, LAROI brought an abbreviated version of his show to a local hotel bar.

“Two things, before I start. I’m very drunk, number one. Ever since they canceled the show, I had no other option but to go right to the bar. So here I am,” he told a modest, but enthusiastic, crowd that began gathering.

“I’m with my friends today, and I just figured since everything got canceled and I’m here anyway, I may as well come and do a couple songs,” LAROI said to cheers. “Thanks to the hotel for letting me do this.”

LAROI kicked off his short performance with “Thousand Miles.” Although the hotel bar set list order is unclear, based off of various fan-captured video clips, he also sang “Stay,” “Without You” and “Diva.”

At the end of his impromptu mini set, he joked that had he been able to perform for them on the festival stage that night, “I’d be way better, I wouldn’t be drunk and I’d actually know how to talk to you guys.”

Earlier on his Instagram Stories, LAROI had posted, “touched down & found out the festival is canceled… I love you Malaysia, I’m sorry,” and then shared a selfie with fans at the hotel. He wrote, “Met some new friends what’s uuuupppp.”

“Might sing some songs in the hotel bar fk it,” he announced over Stories.

Drake Calls Out Fan for Throwing Vape at Him on Stage in Brooklyn: ‘You Got Some Real Life Evaluating to Do’

Another tour, another fan baffling everyone by throwing something directly at the performer on stage. Thursday night (July 20), Drake had to address a concertgoer who made the very questionable decision to toss a vape at him from the crowd at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

The venue posted a video clip of the unfortunate moment on its social media channels the day after the show, along with a warning in the caption: “Reminder: You cannot vape at Barclays Center.”

“Did you throw a vape up here? Come on,” Drake said at the show, upon seeing the item on the ground by his feet.

He gave a disapproving look at the audience and asked, “Hey … Who threw this? Who threw the vape?”

“There’s no way you’re taking life seriously if you think I’m gonna pick this vape up and vape with you at the f—ing Barclays Center,” Drake scolded.

“You got some real life evaluating to do,” said Drake, taking a closer look at it and continuing, “throwing this f—ing lemon mint vape up here, thinking I’m about to vape with you at the Barclays.”

Sadly, this isn’t the first time Drake has had something thrown at him at a concert this month. He was hit in the arm by a cell phone on the opening night of his All a Blur Tour with 21 Savage in Chicago, though he didn’t comment on the incident from the stage that night.

Out of line audience members throwing things at the artists they’ve come to see live has become a stupid, dangerous trend in recent months. In just June and July: Bebe Rexha was injured when a cell phone was hurled at her face, a fan tossed her dead mother’s ashes up onto P!nk’s stage, Kelsea Ballerini was struck by an object mid-song, someone sent a sex toy flying at Lil Nas X, a mysterious object pelted Harry Styles near the eye and left him wincing in pain, and Latto threatened “Throw it again, I’mma beat your ass” when a fan flung something at her.

When Taylor Swift walked offstage to wave at screaming fans in the obstructed view stands at the end of a recent show, she had to cover her face and dodge friendship bracelets being thrown at her.

YNW Melly Murder Trial Ends in Mistrial after Jury Deadlocks

A deadlocked jury prompted a mistrial Saturday (July 22) in the South Florida trial of rapper YNW Melly on charges that he murdered two of his friends five years ago.

The 12-member panel could not reach a unanimous verdict after three days of deliberations. Broward County prosecutors, who had been seeking the death penalty, will likely choose to retry the case with a new jury. A unanimous verdict is required to convict or acquit a defendant.

Broward Circuit Judge John Murphy twice asked the jurors to keep deliberating after they said they were deadlocked, but relented after they came back a third time.

Prosecutors say YNW Melly, whose legal name is Jamell Demons, shot Anthony Williams and Christopher Thomas Jr. while they were all inside a Jeep. Williams and Thomas were both part of the YNW collective, known respectively as YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy.

Prosecutors said the shooting was part of a gang action, while defense attorneys said that claim lacks credibility because Demons and the victims were close friends.

According to prosecutors, Demons, Williams and Thomas were riding in a Jeep driven by Cortland Henry, known as YNW Bortlen, after a recording session in Fort Lauderdale on Oct. 26, 2018. They say Demons fatally shot Williams and Thomas. Henry is charged as an accomplice in the case and will be tried separately.

After killing Williams and Thomas, prosecutors said Demons and Henry drove the bodies to an area near the Everglades, where they shot at the back and passenger sides of Henry’s Jeep from the outside to make it look like Williams and Thomas had been the victims of a drive-by shooting.

But prosecutors say ballistics tests show the pair were shot from inside the Jeep.

Defense lawyers focused on the fact that the gun was never recovered. They also told jurors that YNW Melly had no apparent motive for the crime.

YNW Melly had his breakout in 2017 and went on to work with Kanye West on “Mixed Personalities,” which was released in January 2019, a month before Demons, 24, was arrested on murder charges.

Jason Aldean Addresses ‘Try That in a Small Town’ Controversy at Cincinnati Concert

Jason Aldean addressed the backlash of his new song “Try That in a Small Town” during his Ohio concert on Friday (July 21).

The 46-year-old country star took a moment during his Highway Desperado Tour stop at Cincinnati’s Riverbend Music Center to reflect on the recent controversy that erupted surrounding the track and its corresponding music video. Many have called the lyrics and imagery racist and anti-protest.

“It’s been a long week and I’ve seen a lot of stuff suggesting I’m this, suggesting I’m that,” Aldean told the crowd in a fan-captured video. “I feel like everybody’s entitled to their opinion. You can think something all you want to, it doesn’t mean it’s true.”

He added, “What I am is a proud American. I’m proud to be from here. I love our country. I want to see it restored to what it once was before all this bulls— started happening to us. I love my country, I love my family, and I will do anything to protect that, I can tell you that right now.”

Aldean’s words were met by roaring cheers from the audience and a chant of “USA! USA!”

Earlier this week, a CMT representative confirmed to Billboard that the outlet had pulled the video for “Try That in a Small Town” after playing it for three days, but did not comment further. The controversial clip features footage of an American flag burning, protesters having confrontations with police, looters breaking a display case and thieves robbing a convenience store.

After releasing a statement on Tuesday (July 18) in response to claims that “Try That in a Small Town” is pro-gun, pro-violence and a “modern lynching song,” Aldean further expanded on the backlash from the stage during his Cincinnati show.

“You guys know how it is this day and age, cancel culture is a thing. If people don’t like what you say, they try to make sure that they can cancel you, which means try and ruin your life, ruin everything,” the singer told audience members. “One thing I saw this week was a bunch of country music fans that can see through a lot of the bulls—. I saw country music fans rally like I’ve never seen before and it was pretty bada– to watch. Thank you guys so much.”

Prior to performing “Try That in a Small Town,” Aldean noted that many people had asked him whether he’d be performing the song live.

“I said, ‘You know, people that come to my shows, you guys know what I’m about. You know what I stand for.’ I never shied away from that at all,” he said. “You have the same values, the same principles that I have, which is we we want to take our kids to a movie and not worry about some a–hole coming in there shooting up the theater, right? So when somebody asked me, ‘Hey man, do you think you’re going to play the song tonight?’ The answer is simple. The people have spoken and you guys spoke very, very loudly this week.”

Leigh-Anne Pinnock Teases What Fans Can Expect From Debut Solo Album: ‘I Am a Pop Girl at Heart’

Leigh-Anne Pinnock is gearing up to release more solo music in the imminent future, and sat down with Billboard News to chat about what fans can expect from her upcoming LP, and why she chose to release “Don’t Say Love” as a first single.

“‘Don’t Say Love’ came in the beginning of the process, always knew it was a banger,” Pinnock tells Billboard News host Tetris Kelly. “It kind of became obvious quite quickly that it needed to be the first single, especially with the meaning of it, the idea of wanting to be love wholeheartedly at 100 percent, I think it was really relatable to me, and I just, ‘Yeah, this needs to be the first one.’”

As for what her future album may sounds like, Pinnock gave a few hints. “I’m an R&B girl. Everyone knows that I’m an old-school R&B girl,” she says, citing Jagged Edge, Dru Hill, Immature and Ginuwine as some of her favorite artists in the genre. “At the same time, though, I really do want to incorporate the other genres that I love, so we have some reggae stuff on there. I think I am a pop girl at heart, too, so I just feel like that stamp is always going to be in the mix.”

Though being a solo artist is a different experience from being in a girl group, the “Don’t Say Love” singer is taking it in stride. “I don’t have my sisters to fall back on, so I do really miss the sisterhood,” she notes. “[It also] feels so freeing and a sense of empowerment to stand on my own and know I’m doing this for me. It just feels like the right time. It feels so right to me.”

Leigh-Anne — as one third of Little Mix — earned two top 10 albums Billboard 200 with 2013’s DNA (No. 4) and 2014’s Salute (No. 6). Single “Black Magic” peaked at No. 67 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2015.

Chuck Flood, Longtime Nashville Business Manager and FBMM Co-Founder, Dies at 78

Charles “Chuck” Martin Flood Jr., a longtime Nashville business manager who served as a founding owner at FBMM, has died, Billboard has learned. He was 78.

Flood was a prominent figure in Nashville for more than 40 years. Early in his career, Flood worked on the label side of the business, serving in A&R and national promotion roles at Capitol and Warner Bros. Records. In 1986, he founded Chuck Flood & Associates at his dining room table with the help of John Sayles and Betty Sanders. Just four years later, he teamed up with Frank Bumstead, Mary Ann McCready and John McCarthy to form the company that would become Flood, Bumstead, McCready & McCarthy (FBMM). The top-tier firm boasted a laundry list of A-list clients over the years, including such big names as Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Kelly Clarkson, Pearl Jam, Miranda Lambert, Mac Miller and Diplo.

Flood was a recurring honoree on Billboard‘s Top Business Managers list.

Born Sept. 12, 1944, in Waco, Texas, Flood attended Baylor University, where he met his wife of over five decades, Elizabeth “Beth” Flood, who preceded him in death in 2021. He spent the majority of his life in Nashville, where he and Elizabeth lived in the same home for more than 35 years.

Flood is survived by his sister, Catherine Flood Weiss of Austin; daughter Sarah Flood and husband Robert Ryland of Elgin, Texas; daughter Rachel Flood and husband Kristian Vatalaro of New York; and three grandchildren.

A celebration of life for both Chuck and Beth will be held in Nashville at a yet-to-be-determined date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Chuck’s name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) or Doctors Without Borders.
