Ed Sheeran Got Roasted While Serving Dogs At Chicago’s Legendary Weiner Circle: ‘Way Too Proper and Friendly’

There are way worse things you could be called than “too polite.” In fact, if you’ve been to Chicago’s legendary Weiner Circle hot dog stand anytime, but especially on a bleary late night/early morning for a double dog with all the fixins, you have likely been called way, way worse.

After all, the 40-year-old stand’s unofficial motto is “What the f–k do you want?”

So it made sense that when Ed Sheeran popped in on Saturday (July 29) to sling a few dogs before taking a ride downtown to play his sold-out gig at Soldier Field, the notoriously spicy staff had something to say about his weirdly well-mannered approach. “Our newest trainee @edsheeran has a lot to learn, he’s way too proper and friendly,” the stand tweeted on Saturday along with a pic of a beaming Sheeran behind the counter mobbed by Sheerios snapping pics.

Not surprisingly, the place was mobbed after posting a teaser earlier in the day when its sign read, “Do you want edchup with that?” Dropping in to Weiner Circle has become a right of passage for some stars visiting Chicago, but only if they’re willing to put up with the staff’s patented trash talk. And Sheeran definitely got it, posting a video of his kitchen crash with the caption, “This place is legendary is [sic] Chicago for serving hot dogs and insulting their customers. I loved it.”

Sheeran seemed to relish the chance, smiling sheepishly as a manager walked him through the kitchen, grabbed his arm and told patrons, “hey look motherf—ers, look!” while Sheerios screamed in delight in a video shared by the singer. “He’s nervous, because you won’t shut the f–k up!” the staffer later joked while giving Ed a ceremonial sprinkling with Weiner Circle holy water (aka pickle juice) and warning the mob to, “grab one dog, one picture and keep that s–t moving!”

Sheeran’s next show is on Saturday (August 5) at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, MO.

Tiddy Whisperer: Drake Shouts Out Woman Who Threw 36L Bra Onstage

Lollapalooza Chile 2023 - Day 2

Drake is currently in the midst of his It’s All A Blur tour and sparked an interesting trend at his shows that doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. After playfully calling out women for not throwing bras onstage during his sets, Drake encountered a bra size that left him baffled at the sheer size.

Drake recently completed a two-day run (July 28 & 29) in Washington, D.C. at Capitol One Arena and paused his set to discuss one woman’s bra that left him stumped. The Canadian superstar, clearly having a good time with the moment, shouted out the woman’s 36L bra size and launched into a hilarious monologue about how high the letters can go. TikTok user @threehana caught all the shenanigans on her phone.

“36L? L? How many letters does it go up to?” Drake asked, right before going into counting on his fingers how many letters were used for the bra. “There’s another one over there that looks big but we’ll talk about it later personally. Nah, this is custom work right here.”

Drake added, “This is crazy, this can’t be real, who’s is this?” before picking up a sizeable but still smaller 42H bra to compare the two sets. Apparently, there were two 42H bras thrown.

In part two of the video, Drake appears to think that women are just purchasing large bras to toss onto the stage.

“Y’all just buying big bras and throwing them onstage. Are we just giving out tickets to women with the biggest t*tties in the world?” Drake continued before ending the monologue and launching back into his set.

The video from @threehana went viral on X (formerly known as Twitter) and we’ve got some reactions from the social media site below. Also, these women throwing the big bras must be rich, just saying.

Lady Gaga Honors Tony Bennett in Loving Tribute: ‘He Was My Friend. My Real True Friend’

Though they were separated by more than five decades, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett shared a special magic. The “Million Reasons” singer paid loving tribute to her good friend and collaborator on Sunday night (July 30), 10 days after Bennett’s death at age 96.

“I will miss my friend forever. I will miss singing with him, recording with him, talking with him, being on stage together,” Gaga wrote alongside a photo of Bennett giving her a warm hug. “With Tony, I got to live my life in a time warp. Tony & I had this magical power. We transported ourselves to another era, modernized the music together, & gave it all new life as a singing duo. But it wasnt an act. Our relationship was very real.”

Gaga added that, yes, of course Bennett taught her about music, and showbiz life, but she said he also showed her how to “keep my spirits high and my head screwed on straight. ‘Straight ahead,’ he’d say. He was an optimist, he believed in quality work AND quality life. Plus, there was the gratitude…Tony was always grateful. He served in WWII, marched with Martin Luther King Jr., and sang jazz with the greatest singers and players in the world. I’ve been grieving the loss of Tony for a long time. We had a very long and powerful goodbye.”

Bennett died on July 21 in his hometown of New York City of undisclosed causes after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016; his family first shared the diagnosis publicly in 2021.

Despite the more than half-century that separated them, Gaga, 37, said Bennett was her confidant, age difference be damned.

“He was my friend. My real true friend,” she wrote. “Our age difference didn’t matter– in fact, it gave us each something neither of us had with most people. We were from two different stages in life entirely — inspired. Losing Tony to Alzheimer’s has been painful but it was also really beautiful. An era of memory loss is such a sacred time in a persons life. There’s such a feeling of vulnerability and a desire to preserve dignity. All I wanted was for Tony to remember how much I loved him and how grateful I was to have him in my life.”

She added, “But, as that faded slowly I knew deep down he was sharing with me the most vulnerable moment in his life that he could — being willing to sing with me when his nature was changing so deeply. I’ll never forget this experience. I’ll never forget Tony Bennett. If I could say anything to the world about this I would say don’t discount your elders, don’t leave them behind when things change. Don’t flinch when you feel sad, just keep going straight ahead, sadness is part of it.”

Gaga was there beside her friend at New York’s Radio City Music Hall in August 2021 when the pals headlined a pair of “One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga” shows a decade after her dreams of collaborating with her childhood musical hero came true on their first duet on “The Lady Is a Tramp” from Bennett’s Duets II album; Bennett’s son/manager Danny Bennett, announced that his dad wold retire from touring after the Radio City gigs . Gaga and Bennett also recorded two full-length jazz standards albums together, 2014’s Cheek to Cheek and 2021’s Love for Sale.

If she could impart any knowledge, Gaga concluded, it’s to take care of your elders, and if you do, she promised, you will surely learn something special from them.

“Maybe even magical,” she said. “And pay attention to silence — some of my musical partner and I’s most meaningful exchanges were with no melody at all.”

‘Barbie: The Album’ Sets U.K. Chart Record

It’s official: Barbie is slaying at the box office, and she’s also smashing the music charts.

Barbie: The Album (via Atlantic) leads the U.K.’s compilations chart and three tracks from it climb into the national singles chart top 5 — Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For” (up 10-3 on a 71% week-on-week gain in chart sales, via Interscope), Dua Lipa’s “Dance The Night” (up 15-4 on a 86% lift in chart sales, via Warner Records) and Nicki MinajIce Spice and Aqua‘s “Barbie World” (up 20-5 with a 115% boost in chart sales, via Atlantic/Capitol/Republic).

Until now, no film soundtrack has simultaneously landed three top 5 singles in the U.K.

The first film soundtrack to bag three simultaneous U.K. top 10s was 1978’s Saturday Night Fever (“Night Fever,” “If I Can’t Have You,” “More Than A Woman”), and the Grease soundtrack from the same year launched three top 10 hits (“Summer Nights,” “Grease,” “Hopelessly Devoted To You”).

Disney’s Encanto from 2022 became the first animated film soundtrack to claim three simultaneous top 10s (“We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” “Surface Pressure” and “The Family Madrigal”).

It’s a good week for Aqua, with not one but two top 40 appearances. Powered by the popular Margot Robbie-starring film, “Barbie World,” which interpolates Aqua’s one-time U.K. No. 1 “Barbie Girl,” gives the Norwegian pop outfit their first U.K. top 5 spot in 25 years, since 1998’s “Turn Back Time,” the Official Charts Company reports. It’s Aqua’s sixth U.K. top 10 appearance, Minaj’s 15th and Ice Spice’s first.

“Barbie Girl,” meanwhile, reenters the top 40 for the first time in 25 years, at No. 40, with a 91% week-on-week uplift in combined sales, according to the OCC. The kitsch classic from 1997 is a member of the U.K.’s million-seller club, coming in at No. 16 on the all-time list.

Barbie playtime doesn’t end there; a total of six entries from the soundtrack appear in the U.K. top 40, published Friday, July 28, including cuts by Charli XCX, “Ken” actor Ryan Gosling, and Lizzo.

Barbie: The Album is the current No. 1 in Australia, where it becomes the first soundtrack since Encanto to lead the ARIA Chart.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Greta Gerwig-directed Barbie movie has raked in $774.5 million at the global box office in just 12 days.

At the top of the singles chart mountain in the U.K. is Dave and Central Cee’s “Sprinter” (Live Yours/Neighbourhood), which wins the chart race for an eighth consecutive week, ahead of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire” (Geffen), which holds at No. 2.

Blur Breezes to No. 1 In U.K. With ‘The Ballad of Darren’

Blur is back on top in the U.K. as The Ballad of Darren arrives at No. 1, for the Britpop legends’ seventh leader.

The Ballad of Darren (via Parlophone) opens with 44,000 chart units, the Official Charts Company reports, with physical formats proving popular. Almost 90% of those first-week units were sold as physical copies.

That Blur would crown the chart on Friday, July 28 was virtually assured when, at the midweek point, the album was reported to be outselling the rest of the top 10 combined.

The foursome, which also includes guitarist Graham Coxon, bass player Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree, also hit No. 1 with Parklife (1994), The Great Escape (1995), Blur (1997), 13 (1999), and Think Tank (2003) and The Magic Whip (2015), while their first two albums, 1991’s Leisure and 1993’s Modern Life is Rubbish, reached No. 7 and No. 15, respectively.

With seven albums chart crowns, Blur joins the likes of Elton John, George Michael, Paul McCartney and Barbra Streisand, and they’re just one title short of the eight leaders accumulated by Oasis, Blur’s ‘90s nemesis. Oasis’ string of leaders does, however, including a greatest hits collection, 2010’s Time Flies – 1994-2009.

For frontman Damon Albarn, a second No. 1 of the year after his other band, Gorillaz, reigned over the Official U.K. Albums Chart in March with Cracker Island, a feat that places him in rare company. The likes of ABBA, Taylor Swift, The Beatles, Diana Ross and Robbie Williams have also landed two chart-toppers in a calendar year.

Meanwhile, American rockers Greta Van Fleet snag a second top 10 album with Starcatcher (EMI), new at No. 8. That’s an equal career high, matching the No. 8 best for 2021’s The Battle at Garden’s Gate, and beating the No. 12 peak for their 2018 debut Anthem of a Peaceful Army.

Finally, As December Falls enjoys its first appearance on the U.K. chart with Join The Club (ADF), new at No. 11, while K-pop girl group NewJeans land at No. 15 with their second EP Get Up.

Foo Fighters & Alanis Morissette Pay Tribute to Sinead O’Connor With ‘Mandinka’ Cover

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl welcomed Alanis Morissette to the band’s stage this weekend at the 2023 Fuji Rock Festival at Japan’s Naeba Ski Resort. “Tonight we’re gonna do something that we’ve never done before with someone that we love very much,” Grohl told the crowd. “We want an old friend to come up and sing with us tonight for a very special reason.”

He introduced Morissette — who was also on the July 28-30 fest’s lineup — and gave her a hug when she joined the band on stage.

Morissette then dedicated their version of “Mandinka” to “a beautiful woman with high intelligence and deep empathy, way ahead of her time, who is no longer with us. This is for her.”

O’Connor died at age 56. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinead. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time,” her family said in a statement to the BBC on July 26.

Morissette was one of countless music artists to post condolences and share memories of the singer upon hearing the news of her death.

“Sinead was a profound inspiration to many,” she wrote in an Instagram Story. “And to me. Her passion, poetry, and unapologetic expression raised the bar on artistry and female empowerment. Her questioning of societal norms deeply influenced culture’s appreciation of female complexity. Her ability to vulnerably dwell on the small part of the bell-shaped curve was thought provoking, stirring and inspiring. I’m feeling empathy for Ireland, for the world, and for all of us who are saddened by this news.”

Madonna Thanks Her Kids & Friends for Their Support One Month After Hospitalization: ‘How Lucky I Am to Be Alive’

Madonna was thankful for the kindness of her loved ones when she was hospitalized and recovering from a bacterial infection last month.

The 64-year-old pop icon’s infection was “serious,” according to manager Guy Oseary, and landed her in the ICU for a few days.

“Love from family and friends is the best Medicine. One month out of the hospital and I can reflect,” Madonna wrote to fans on Sunday (July 30). She posted the update on her official social media accounts.

“As a Mother you can really get caught up In the needs Of your children and the seemingly endless giving,” said Madonna. “But when the chips were down my children really showed up for me. I saw a side to them I had never seen before. It made all the difference.”

She added, “So did the love and support from my friends.”

In her letter, Madonna described an incredible gift she received from manager Oseary while she was recuperating: “A Polaroid taken by Andy Warhol of Keith Haring wearing a jacket with Michael Jackson’s face painted on it. A perfect triangle of Brilliance.”

“I sobbed when I opened this gift because I realized how lucky I am to be alive. And how fortunate I am to have known these people and so many others who are also gone. Thank you @guyoseary for this gift! And Thank you to all my angels who protected me and let me Stay to finish doing my work!” she wrote.

Cardi B Throws Mic at Concertgoer Who Splashed Drink at Her Onstage

Cardi B got even with a concertgoer who tossed a drink at her during the rapper’s performance in Las Vegas on Saturday (July 29).

In a video circulating on social media, the 30-year-old hip-hop star is seen hurling a microphone at an unruly audience member after they splashed their beverage on her during a performance at Drai’s Beachclub.

Cardi was in the middle of delivering her hit song “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” — which spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2017 — when the incident occurred. Afterwards, she retweeted a video of what went down. In the clip, the rapper seems surprised after being splashed by the liquid from the cup, but then turns angry and throws the mic at them while appearing to yell.

Cardi teamed up with her husband Offset on his new song “Jealousy,” which dropped Friday (July 28). The Migos rapper’s latest track sees him alongside Cardi dodging haters in a major kiss-off. “You offended when I be on defense/ They’re too worried ’bout me and my n—a/ You should worry ’bout the n—a yours sleep with, hmm,” she raps.

Cardi is the latest victim of a dangerous trend in which artists are being struck by objects while performing at concerts. In recent weeks, Drake called out a fan for throwing a vape on stage; Bebe Rexha was injured when a cell phone was hurled at her face; a fan tossed her dead mother’s ashes up onto P!nk’s stage; Kelsea Ballerini was struck by an object mid-song; someone sent a sex toy flying at Lil Nas X; and a mysterious object pelted Harry Styles near the eye and left him wincing in pain.

See Cardi’s reaction to a drink being tossed on her in a video here.
