This past January Lil Yachty dropped off his fifth studio album, Let’s Start Here, and though he’s kept a relatively low profile for the past few months, Lil Boat’s been making some waves as of late as if he has something brewing in the kitchen.

This time around the captain of the Sailing Team drops off some new work in “Solo Steppin Crete Boy,” in which Yachty rolls around town draped in an American flag before pulling over and styling in a red Benz in front of a Buddhist monastery to show them the kind of material things that they’re missing out on. Starbucks Is Celebrating Taylor Swift’s U.S. Eras Tour Wrap by Playing Her Music

Starbucks is taking “Starbucks lovers” to a whole new level.

The popular coffee chain is celebrating the end of Taylor Swift’s U.S. leg of her Eras tour by bumping a playlist of her music inside its U.S. company-operated stores, according to TMZ. As expected, the 122-track playlist is called “Starbucks Lovers,” in reference to the often misheard lyrics in Swift’s 1989 hit, “Blank Space.”

To add to the fun, Starbucks also assigned each of Swift’s album eras with one of their signature drinks, with the brand’s iced blonde latte giving Fearless while the Pink Drink radiates Lover energy and Reputation is a strong nitro cold brew, among others.

The show on Wednesday (Aug. 9) marks Swift’s last night at SoFi Stadium, where she’s played a total of six nights, concluding the first U.S. leg of the Eras Tour. Starting Aug. 24, she’ll take the trek global with a slew of international dates in Latin America, Asia, Australia and Europe before returning to the states in 2024 for a second North American leg.

The pop star was left enchanted during her second-to-last show on Tuesday, following her performance of “Champagne Problems,” when the crowd rewarded her with a nearly eight-minute standing ovation.

“I think it’s safe to say that I, like all people, will experience a certain amount of emotional downward spirals throughout the course of the rest of my life and in those moments, you can rest assured I’m gonna think about what you just did,” she told the crowd, getting slightly emotional. “And I’m gonna feel better. So thank you. That was insane. It was crazy.”

Bad Bunny’s ‘Where She Goes’ Arrives at No. 1 on Latin Airplay

A week after Bad Bunny secured his 26th top 10 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart with “Where She Goes,” the Puerto Rican adds a new chart success as the track captures the crown on the Aug. 12-dated ranking.

“Where She Goes” climbs from No. 2 on the overall Latin airplay tally with 9.22 million audience impressions, that’s a 2% gain from the week prior, earned in the week ending Aug. 3, according to Luminate.

With “Goes” Benito pick up his 22nd No. 1 and becomes the seventh artist overall with as many or more champs on Latin Airplay. Plus, he enters a tie with Maluma and Wisin for the fifth-most since the chart’s inception in 1994. Here’s the recap:

35, J Balvin
22, Enrique Iglesias
32, Ozuna
28, Daddy Yankee
22, Bad Bunny
22, Maluma
22, Wisin

“Goes” takes the lead a month after “Un X100to,” with Grupo Frontera, capped its six-week reign (July 8-dated list). The track took over Latin Airplay in its third week, the fastest journey to the top spot among Bad Bunny’s 22 No. 1s.

Latin Airplay is one of nine charts where “Goes” has reached the top 10. In addition to topping Latin Airplay, it has hit No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, Latin Digital Song Sales, and Latin Rhythm Airplay; No. 2 on Hot Latin Songs; No. 3 on Global Excl. U.S., Streaming Songs, and Latin Streaming Songs; and No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Feid & Sean Paul Link Up with New Top 10: Elsewhere on Latin Airplay, Feid and Sean Paul combine forces for a new top 10 as “Niña Bonita” climbs 11-4.

The song takes the Greatest Gainer honors with a 36% gain in audience impressions, generating 8.6 million, during the same tracking period.

“Niña Bonita” is just the second collaboration with an artist who primarily records in a language other than Spanish to reach the top 10 on Latin Airplay in 2023, after Ozuna paired-up with Congolese French artist Gims on the three-week ruler “Arhbo (Music From The FIFA World Cup Quatar 2022)”, the track held in the top 10 for six weeks between late 2022-23.

Robbie Robertson’s 10 Best Songs, With The Band & Solo

“The Weight,” “Up on Cripple Creek,” “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” plus more Robertson-penned favorites chosen by Billboard‘s staff.

One of the most important voices in rock of the late 1960s and early ’70s — even though he didn’t sing lead on many of his most famous songs — died this week. Robbie Robertson, guitarist and primary songwriter for Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Band (and later solo performer and film composer), died Wednesday (Aug. 9) at age 80 after a long illness.

Growing out of the group The Hawks, which served as the backing band for rockabilly singer Ronnie Hawkins and then legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, The Band emerged in the late ’60s as a fully formed rock outfit, with a pair of classic albums: 1968’s Music From Big Pink and 1969’s self-titled album. The group’s rootsy sound and soulful performances, combined with Robertson’s evocative and enigmatic songwriting and strong knack for melody, helped set the early standard for the hybrid genre that would eventually become known as Americana, inspiring entire generations of future musicians.

As The Band fractured over the course of the ’70s, Robertson also became an in-demand producer and guest guitarist — and then in the ’80s, he also began a long collaboration with filmmaking great Martin Scorsese, scoring his The Color of Money (and, much later, The Irishman) and providing additional music and music supervision to many other Scorsese films. He also launched an acclaimed solo career, with his self-titled 1987 debut winning the Juno Award in his native Canada for album of the year.

With a decades-spanning career that remained relevant and vital for many decades after his debut, Robertson’s catalog ranks among the most essential of the rock era. Here are our staff’s picks for his most essential songs, presented in chronological order.

BTS’ V Gets Up Close & Personal With the Camera in ‘Love Me Again’ Video

Another BTS solo single is in the books! V, who previously announced that he will release his debut solo album at the end of the summer, released the project’s first track “Love Me Again” in tandem with a music video on Wednesday (Aug. 9).

The intimate visual for the song never strays too far away from V’s face — the BTS member takes the stage to sing the soothing R&B track, as if crooning to the object of his affections in the audience (hidden from view). “I think about you all the time/ Where you are, who you’re with/ Lost without you, baby/ I wish you would love me again/ No, I don’t want nobody else,” he sings, his sequined shirts glimmering from stage lighting.

“Love Me Again” is the first taste BTS ARMY has heard of V’s debut solo effort, Layover. Big Hit Entertainment announced Tuesday that the album will drop Sept. 8. The set will include a total of six tracks: “Rainy Days,” “Blue,” “Love Me Again,” “Slow Dancing,” “For Us” and a bonus track piano version of “Slow Dancing.” “Slow Dancing” will be the lead single for the project, which Big Hit described as a “1970s romantic soul style track [that] exudes a laid-back and free-spirited feeling.”

V’s solo efforts come after releases from his fellow BTS members: Jung Kook released “Seven” featuring Latto — which crowned the Billboard Hot 100 — last month, while Suga’s D-Day arrived in April and Jimin’s FACE (including the Hot 100 No. 1 “Like Crazy”) in March.

Robbie Robertson’s Death Mourned by Martin Scorsese, Jason Isbell & More: ‘He Was a Giant’

Following news of the death of music legend Robbie Robertson on Wednesday (Aug. 9) at age 80, tributes from his famous friends and admirers poured in.

The family of The Band co-founder (born Jaime Royal “Robbie” Robertson) released a statement Wednesday via X (formerly Twitter) saying that Robertson had just wrapped work on Martin Scorsese’s yet-released Killers of the Flower Moon movie — their 14th film music collaboration. Scorsese sent a statement to Billboard remembering Robertson as “one of my closest friends, a constant in my life and my work” and “a giant.” Robertson worked on Scorsese’s Wolf of Wall Street, Gangs of New York, Casino and more after The Band’s legendary 1976 farewell concert was profiled in the director’s 1978 documentary The Last Waltz. Robertson also went on to a successful solo career, starting with his self-titled debut album in 1987.

Read Scorsese’s full statement below, along with tributes from Jason Isbell, fellow Canadian musician Bryan Adams, Stephen Stills (Crosby, Stills & Nash, Buffalo Springfield), Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones), Neil Diamond, Steven Van Zandt (Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band) and many more.

Martin Scorsese: “Robbie Robertson was one of my closest friends, a constant in my life and my work. I could always go to him as a confidante. A collaborator. An advisor. I tried to be the same for him. Long before we ever met, his music played a central role in my life—me and millions and millions of other people all over this world. The Band’s music, and Robbie’s own later solo music, seemed to come from the deepest place at the heart of this continent, its traditions and tragedies and joys. It goes without saying that he was a giant, that his effect on the art form was profound and lasting. There’s never enough time with anyone you love. And I loved Robbie.”

Bryan Adams via X: “RIP Robbie Robertson. Thanks for the amazing music and the great hangs, especially photographing you in LA not so long ago. We’ll keep Anna Lee company for you…”

Stephen Stills via X: “Always kind and generous. Rest in peace, Robbie Robertson.”

Ronnie Wood via X: “Such sad news about Robbie Robertson – he was a lovely man, a great friend and will be dearly missed xx R”

Ron Sexsmith via X: “RIP Robbie Robertson. Unspeakably sad news. His songwriting and guitar playing made such a lasting impact on music and in fact changed the direction of music in the late 60’s from psychedelic to a more roots based approach. Huge Loss RS”

Dr. John via X: “RIP to the great Robbie Robertson, pictured with Dr. John and Bobby Charles in The Band’s immortal film The Last Waltz.”

Michael Des Barres via X: “[An] intellectualized rock ‘n’ roll artist who created THE Band. Robbie Robertson is so important in the history of rock ‘n’ roll music, bringing americana and country music together. He backed Bob Dylan when Bob went electric. He will be remembered. RIP”

Billie Eilish’s ‘Barbie’ Soundtrack Contribution Leads Hot Rock & Alternative Songs

Billie Eilish’s Barbie soundtrack contribution “What Was I Made For?” rises to No. 1 for the first time on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart dated Aug. 12.

“What Was I Made For?” reigns in its fourth week on the survey. It concurrently leads Hot Alternative Songs for a third week in a row.

In the July 28-Aug. 3 tracking week, “What Was I Made For?” earned 17.8 million official U.S. streams, up 9%, according to Luminate. It also pulled 1.5 million radio audience impressions (a 165% boost) and 5,000 downloads, an increase of 9%.

“What Was I Made For?” is Eilish’s third Hot Rock & Alternative Songs ruler, following the reigns of “My Future” in 2020 and “Happier Than Ever” in 2021. The same songs comprise her No. 1s on Hot Alternative Songs.

The previously mentioned streaming and sales counts for “What Was I Made For?” are enough to keep the song atop Alternative Streaming Songs for a third week, and it ranks at No. 2 on Alternative Digital Song Sales.

On the all-format Billboard Hot 100, “What Was I Made For?” appears at No. 22, after peaking so far at No. 18 on the Aug. 5 tally. It’s also the Streaming Songs survey’s greatest gainer, ranking at No. 13.

“What Was I Made For?” is found on Barbie: The Album, the soundtrack to the recently released Barbie film. It ranks at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in its second week on the list, after debuting at No. 2, with 91,000 equivalent album units earned.
