Kim Kardashian Recites Her Own Song Sample At Drake Concert, Drizzy Then Ignores Her

A few months ago, Drake dropped a track dubbed “Search and Rescue” that sampled Kim Kardashian in which she spoke about her divorce from his rival, Kanye West. And now Ye’s estranged wife is seemingly having fun with the song as she continues to live her best and single life.

A new clip of Kim Kardashian attending Drake’s concert this past Sunday night (August 12) is going viral as the Reality TV star was captured reciting her own words on the song in which she stated “I didn’t come this far just to come this far and not be happy. Remember that!” Enthusiastically reciting the quote to someone off camera, Kim seemed more than happy to have been a part of the Drake song.

You have to wonder if this stings Kanye West at all or if he’s perfectly content funking up his household with his new wife, Bianca Censor.

Regardless of how Kanye might feel, many fans were shocked to see Drake seemingly ignore his rumored fling later that night as he walked past her and didn’t so much as stop to acknowledge her presence.

While it seemed like he didn’t pay her any mind, we don’t know if the man winked at her or smiled as winked at her as how can any man not notice that Kool Aid smile she was shooting at him as he walked towards her. Just sayin.’

The video clip comes after Drake is apparently reigniting his beef with Kanye West and Pusha T just a year after the King of The North and the false prophet of MAGA nation “squashed” their beef and performed together at a benefit concert for Larry Hover. Having thrown subliminal shots at Kanye on “Circo Loco” and Pusha T (and Pharrell for some reason) on “Meltdown,” Drizzy seems to be ready to engage with his rivals once again for whatever reason.

Kanye and Pusha have remained mum on the disses, but will Kim having fun with her sample push Ye to the brink? We shall see.

What do y’all think? Let us know in the comment section below.

David Guetta, Calvin Harris & More: 20 Years of Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay Chart

“The chart will significantly elevate the profile of dance music at radio.”

With the survey dated Aug. 16, 2003, Billboard began the Dance/Mix Show Airplay ranking, with then-dance radio chart manager Ricardo Companioni touting its value to the genre. Billboard also described dance as “an emerging radio format in major U.S. markets” at the time.

Twenty years later, the chart continues to reflect the biggest dance hits on radio each week.

When the list premiered (in Billboard’s pages for the first time in the Oct. 25, 2003, issue), it tracked airplay on eight stations: WKTU New York, KDLD Los Angeles, KPTI San Francisco, KKDL Dallas, WQSX Boston, WPYM Miami, KNRJ Phoenix and KCJZ San Antonio, Texas. (Today, only WKTU remains a reporter.)

In November 2011, the chart was made over from its original Hot Dance Radio Airplay name to Dance/Mix Show Airplay, with its panel of core 24/7 dance stations augmented with mix show hours on pop stations, which now comprise around 80 reporters. Three years later, the chart expanded from 25 spots to its current 40-position depth. (Stations’ airplay is tracked by Mediabase and provided to Billboard by Luminate.)

Over its 20-year archives, the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart has built up a history of achievements by some of the most key names in the genre.

Below is a look at 20 impressive feats achieved on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, from the acts with the most No. 1s to the longest-leading hit and more, from the inaugural chart, dated Aug. 16, 2003, through the latest, Aug. 19, 2023-dated tally.

(Notably, Aug. 16 doubles as the birthday of one of the chart’s most successful performers: Madonna.)

Listen to Hootie & the Blowfish’s Jim ‘Soni’ Sonefeld & Darius Rucker Reimagine Sonefeld’s ‘Sitting in the Green Grass’

On the 15th-anniversary deluxe edition of Snowman Melting, Jim “Soni” Sonefeld brought in a very special guest to reimagine the album’s “Sitting in the Green Grass”: his Hootie & the Blowfish bandmate Darius Rucker.

The new version, which premieres below, marks the first time any members of the band have recorded new music together since Hootie & the Blowfish’s 2019 album, Imperfect Circle, and is the first time two members have worked together on music outside of the official band.

The stripped-down song is a lovely testament to escaping from the city and taking time out to breathe in nature as the two band members trade verses. Tiffany Turner, wife of the song’s producer Lee J. Turner, provides backing vocals.

“This [song] seemed almost to be written for [Darius],” Sonefeld told Billboard. “I thought the acoustic, sort of Americana style would suit him well, and he absolutely knocked it out of the park, in my opinion.”

Furthermore, “I thought ‘Sitting in the Green Grass’ was a nice message that represented a little bit of what Darius has gone through, his double career in rock music and country music, having to balance the busyness of the machine that is the music business with trying to find peace in your life as well,” Sonefeld separately said in a statement.

“Friendships definitely change through decades. Darius and I don’t see each other as much,” he continued. “When you have kids and partners and distance, it’s hard to be the same people you were driving around in a van in the early ’90s. But we’re still family, we’ve been able to watch our kids grow up and see them onto their journeys. And so ‘Sitting in the Green Grass’ I thought was a good fit for Darius. We’re both in a place where our kids are leaving the house, in college or done. It’s not as if we’re going out to pasture, but it is a big moment of time, this season in our lives.”

While the 15th anniversary of Snowman Melting arrives this year, next year marks a big anniversary too: the 30th anniversary of Hootie & the Blowfish’s Cracked Rear View, which catapulted the band into superstardom and has sold more than 21 million copies in the U.S. As to how the band will commemorate, Sonefeld says it’s too soon to tell. “We’ve been talking about how we might approach a tour/recording opportunity as a band,” he says, “But we haven’t come to any conclusions about supporting that anniversary with either a tour, or new music, or both.”

For now, the band’s only plan is to support its Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation with its annual fundraiser, which will take place in the spring.

Snowman Melting, originally released in 2008, was produced and co-written by Francis Dunnery and captured a transitional time for Sonefeld. “Snowman Melting comes out of a time in my life when I was trying to figure out who I was,” Sonefeld said. “A period where a guy who was old enough to know better was still learning life lessons. My life was changing so rapidly – separation, divorce, the band’s last tour and indefinite dormancy for Hootie & the Blowfish. And then a remarriage and a quickly enlarged family. The songs paint a clear picture of what my life looked like in 2006-2008. I can always look back and clearly see the pain, the joy, the transition.

The deluxe edition, out Sept. 29 via Vere Music, also includes a new rendition of “No Reason” with Edwin McCain.

The re-release comes after Sonefeld published his memoir last year, Swimming With the Blowfish: Hootie, Healing and One Hell of a Ride, and a solo EP, Remember Tomorrow.

The Killers Apologize For Bringing Russian Fan On Stage in Georgia: ‘We Did Not Mean to Upset Anyone’

Brandon Flowers learned a lesson in diplomacy on Tuesday night (Aug. 15) during The Killers‘ show at the Black Sea Arena in Batumi, Georgia. In a portion of the show when the band typically invite a fan up to play drums on the song “For Reasons Unknown,” Flowers asked the crowd to weigh in on that night’s special guest.

“We don’t know the etiquette of this land but this guy’s a Russian,” he told the audience in video posted by fans. “You OK with a Russian coming up here?” As it turns out, they were not. The question drew loud boos from the crowd in the country that came out from under the yoke of Russian rule in 1991 following the fall of the Soviet Union. Russia, however, still occupies around 20 percent of Georgia following a 2008 invasion.

According to local reports, a portion of the audience walked out in protest, further incensed by Flowers’ attempt at detente after the song ended. Asking the agitated audience if they were willing to let borders define them. “You can’t recognize that someone’s your brother? He’s not your brother? We all separate on the border of our countries?,” he said as the boos kept coming. “So I’m not your brother? Am I not your brother being from America? Am I your brother or no? I’m not your brother?”

Walking away from the mic in seeming exasperation, Flowers threw his head back and added, “One of the things we appreciate about being in this band is it brings people together. And tonight I want to celebrate that we’re here together. And I don’t want it to turn ugly. And I see you as my brothers and my sisters. “

Hours after the show, the band issued an apology, assuring their Georgian fans that they did not intend to cause an international incident more than a year-and-a-half into Russia’s devastating unprovoked war against Ukraine. “Good people of Georgia, it was never our intention to offend anyone! We have a longstanding tradition of inviting people to play drums and it seemed from the stage that the initial response from the crowd indicated that they were okay with tonight’s audience participation member coming onstage with us,” they wrote.

It continued, “We recognize that a comment, meant to suggest that all of The Killers’ audience and fans are ‘brothers and sisters,’ could be misconstrued. We did not mean to upset anyone and we apologize. We stand with you and hope to return soon.” The Killers are currently on tour in support of their 2021 album Pressure Machine. Their next scheduled show is in Bratislava, Slovakia on Friday (Aug. 18), after which they will head to England for the Reading and Leeds festivals, before flying back to the U.S. in September for a series of festival headlining gigs at Bourbon & Beyond, Sea.Hear.Now and Life is Beautiful.

Wallen is trailed in the nominations count by Luke Combs and HARDY, with nine nods each; Jelly Roll, with eight; Lainey Wilson, with seven; Zach Bryan and Kane Brown with six each; and Megan Moroney, with five.

Wallen, Combs, Wilson, Bryan and Brown are each nominated for the top award, The People’s Artist of 2023, alongside Blake Shelton, Kelsea Ballerini and Old Dominion. The latter is the only group or duo nominated for the top award.

Ingrid Andress is a surprise nominee for The New Artist of 2023. Maybe they mean “new-ish.” The other nominees in the category are Jelly Roll, Bryan, Moroney, Bailey Zimmerman, Corey Kent, ERNEST and Priscilla Block.

In a bid to distinguish themselves from other country awards shows, the People’s Choice Country Awards have a few unique categories: The Crossover Song of 2023, The Concert Tour of 2023 and The Social Star of 2023. The latter category is among the most gender-balanced on the ballot, with four women vying with four men.

The crossover song category consists of pop/country collabs, which brought in such pop, alternative, dance and hip-hop stars as P!nk, Ed Sheeran, Bebe Rexha, Charlie Puth, Maggie Rogers, Diplo and Kodak Black.

Voting begins today and runs through Friday, Aug. 25 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Fans can vote online at votepcca.com. In an unusual twist, votes cast on Turbo Tuesday, Aug. 22 (midnight–11:59 p.m. ET) will count twice. Votes will be tabluted by third-party vendor Telescope. Complete rules can be found here.

Billed as “an award show for the people and by the people,” the People’s Choice Country Awards is produced by Den of Thieves with executive producers Jesse Ignjatovic, Evan Prager and Barb Bialkowski. The show will also bestow several honorary awards. As previously announced, Toby Keith will receive the Country Music Icon Award, presented by Shelton.

The broadcast will extend across platforms with Backstage Live: People’s Choice Country Awards, which will feature red-carpet arrivals, backstage chats and behind-the-scenes coverage. The livestream will air on Peacock, PCA Twitter, NBC Twitter/Facebook/YouTube, TODAY All Day/Twitter, E! Quavo Previews ‘Rocket Power’ Solo Album With Surprise ‘Who Wit Me’ Dugout Performance at Braves Game

Quavo served up an unexpected treat for the 40,000 fans who turned out for Tuesday night’s (Aug. 15) Atlanta Braves game against the cellar-dweller New York Yankees. The hometown team — who have a comfortable 10-plus game lead over the Phillies in the NL East — cleared some room on the top of their dugout for the Migos member to preview his upcoming solo album, Rocket Power, which is due out on Friday (Aug. 18).

Wearing a No. 94 jersey with his album title across the shoulders, Quavo bounced back-and-forth across the dugout shouting the chorus of his new single, “Who Wit Me,” at a packed Truist Park, slipping in an ad-lib shout-out to his hometown on the song that honors his late nephew, Migos member TakeOff.

“My nephew just told me he with it/ Even my sister just tole me they with it/ I’m sayin’, I’m sayin’ who with me,” he rapped along to the track. TakeOff (born Kirshnik Khari Ball) was shot and killed during a private party he attended in downtown Houston with his uncle on Nov. 1, 2022.

“If you ready for the Braves let me get a ‘Yes sir!,’” Quavo shouted to the crowd cheering on the team with the best record in the majors. Quavo’s anticipated second solo venture will follow-up his 2018 solo debut, Quavo Huncho, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart; the rapper also teamed up with Travis Scott in 2017 for the joint album Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho.

Speaking about the loss of TakeOff in a recent interview, Quavo said, “I think about him all the time. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep.” He also described how he had to change his work flow during the making of Rocket Power due to the loss. While he would normally cut the hook and the verse and show it to his Migos bandmates — which also includes Offset — “Now he’s [TakeOff] gone and I don’t have nobody to play the music for… I just try to connect with the earth and just try to hear them like that.”

Quavo said the album — which was first teased back in May — is fueled by his late nephew and partner-in-rhyme’s spirit. “All the pain, all the hard times, all the times I cried and all the times I just made music [to cope with loss],” he said. “And to pull up and try to play songs and he’s not there, and I’m just trying to get this fuel from above and this feeling from the sky and just call it Rocket Power.”

Check out Quavo’s performance below.

Meryl Streep & Ashley Park Team Up for ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Duet ‘Look for the Light’

Meryl Streep and Ashley Park have entered the building in a very musical way.

In the newest episode of Hulu’s hit series Only Murders in the Building, which premiered Tuesday (Aug. 15), Streep and Park team up to perform a song co-written by Sara Bareilles (Waitress) along with Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen). The song, “Look for the Light,” is now available for fans to stream on all services.

“It was so easy to say yes to this invitation,” said Bareilles in a press statement.  “I love the delicious unpredictability of collaboration, and this was as joyful and undeniable as they come. I am such a fan of the Only Murders and of Pasek & Paul, so the idea of writing together for the first time, especially to offer something to someone like Meryl Streep truly felt like a dream. Meryl was gentle and focused, and I loved her musicality and her willingness to share her process. Ashley Park’s glorious counter melody was added later, and I got goosebumps the first time I heard it. It truly couldn’t have been a more seamless experience- how lucky am I to be a part of it!”

For Pasek & Paul, Bareilles was a dream collaborator, adding in a statement, “We were so fortunate to be able to create this song for the legendary Meryl Streep alongside her. As longtime fans of Only Murders, Meryl, and Sara, this opportunity was basically the most perfectly algorithmic targeted ad someone could throw our way.

“Getting to shape this song around Meryl’s voice, and working together in the studio and on set, was a dream and we are three very lucky songwriters,” they continued. “Meryl not only amazed us with her usual brilliance and mastery of the craft, but also inspired us with her humility and tireless work ethic. While it is unfair for someone to be so wonderful at everything, it’s a basic human truth that we all must reckon with!”

The song came in an episode in which Martin Short’s Oliver Putnam attempts to pivot his sure-to-tank murder mystery Death Rattle into a raucous musical during one crazy night of writing. While the show’s producers are split on the effort that involves crab men singing about creatures of the night, unconvinced funder Donna Demeo (Linda Edmond) says she’ll give him 24 hours to come up with a slam-dunk showstopper song.

Just before showcasing the song for his producers, Steve Martin’s Charles-Haden Savage tells his friend and fellow sleuth that nobody is into the musical idea. Frustrated and desperate, Short tells Streep’s Loretta that he’s happy to release her from her contract so she can take a newly offered part in the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Grey’s New Orleans Family Burn Unit if she’ll just sing his guaranteed “showstopper” for him, the lilting nanny’s lullaby (aka “Look for the Light.”)

With the cast gathered around him, Short sets up a scene in which the show’s star triplets are crying in the night as their nanny soothes them. To the accompaniment of a melancholy piano, Streep sings, “Hush, little one, let me sing you to sleep/ Moonlight has come, now drift off to a dream/ Sail from the day to the wonders awaiting you/ Out there in the deep.”

As violins swell, the Oscar winner captivates the room with the emotional powerhouse ballad, with Ashley Park’s Kimber unable to resist harmonizing on the sweeping chorus in a tour de force that helps to save the show.

The third season of Only Murders premiered Aug. 8, with stars Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin returning as true-crime-loving neighbors who get wrapped up in a murder mystery. Back in April, Gomez took to Instagram to tease Streep’s guest appearance by sharing a photo, smiling wide alongside the Oscar-winning icon on the series’ set.

“Well we wrapped season 3 of @onlymurdershulu -I’m not sure I have enough words to explain just how beautiful this season has been. It has been deliriously hilarious, challenging and for me, an absolute dream,” she captioned the photo. “I’ll post more soon. But I’ll I leave it with the woman I adore, look up to and love.”

Listen to “Look for the Light” below, and watch Only Murders in the Building on Hulu.

With the drop of his latest album, Utopia, Travis Scott is back on top of the rap game and though he’s busy performing for his fans at archeological sites, the man is still keeping his fans content with some new work.

Dropping off some new visuals for his album cut “Sirens,” Travis Scott heads overseas where he inspires an entire city to work together and build a human pyramid inside of a cave to reach the opening and get a single girl to utopia. It was pretty cool even if he wasn’t rocking an exclusive pair of Travis Scott Nikes. Sneakerheads stay on alert for those in his videos.

Keeping the party going, Travis dropped another clip in “Modern Jam” where he DJ’s at a club and keeps bodies rockin’ and heads bopping. People with epilepsy might wanna steer clear of this club though. Just sayin.’

Pedro Capó on La Neta Tour, the Success of ‘Calma,’ New Music & More | Billboard News

Latin star Pedro Capó opens up about his latest album, La Neta, going on tour, life after the success of his track “Calma,” new music and more.

Pedro Capo:
Out of the blue, unexpectedly. It wasn’t supposed to be a single. It wasn’t written with that, you know, looking for that either, that one was absolutely special.

Hi, I’m Pedro Capo and this is Billboard News.

Leila Cobo:
Pedro Capo, welcome to Billboard News!

Pedro Capo:
Thank you! Happy to be here! Happy to see you! Thanks for having me!

Leila Cobo:
Likewise. And now you’re back with ‘La Neta’ tour. This is the first tour since the onset of the pandemic for you.

Pedro Capo:
Yeah, yeah. Happy… happy that we finally got here.

Leila Cobo:
Tell us about that tour.

Pedro Capo:
Yes. Well, we started in Spain, we did four cities over there. And it was a huge success. Every city sold out. We’re now going to Argentina, which they all sold out. I feel like ‘La Neta’ is that you know, the little boat that could, and then we’re going to Mexico and we’re going to be coming to the (United) States so we should be here in October. Very excited about that. ‘La Neta’ was a different- is a different sound. And I feel like it marks a road ahead for me.

Leila Cobo:
How so?

Pedro Capo:
Because sonically I was coming out of the whole “Calma” thing, which was beautiful, amazing. “Calma” had, you know, happened at such an interesting moment. The pandemic came, I kind of got lost in my sound for a little bit, which is part of our process, I’d say. And ‘La Neta’ was something that I record and produced and write in its entirety in my house. Very personal.

Watch the full interview above.
