Way back in 2023–back when people just started feeling safe enough to go back outside and Job Corps could still shape the minds of young folks who’d lost their way—Cam’ron realized something that all hustlers do: Why keep giving it away for free when he could be making money off of it?
“I was arguing with n*ggas about two hours over the phone about sports,” the “Oh Boy” rapper said during an interview with Revolt TV. “When I’d get off the phone I would look at it’d be like two hours and 25 minutes and I’d be mad, and I’m like, I need to put that energy somewhere where I can make money because sports and politics are never going anywhere.”
And Cam’ron gave the world: It Is What It Is.
And it was good.
It was a middle ground between sports talk and a barbershop convo feel. It didn’t have the pretentiousness of other sports shows in which former professional athletes sit around and tell you just how much you don’t know about sports. It was just a rapper, and his friend and fellow MCand reformed pastor, Ma$e, kicking it about sports. It used the language of the streets mixed with the knowledge that just about every common fan has and the result was a success. Cam and Ma$e even wear suits.
He once argued masterfully that Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was a virtuoso of code switching, who could speak both the King’s English and the language of the street. And Cam was worried that incoming quarterback Russell Wilson and his proximity to suburban living might ruin the rapport that Tomlin had with his team.
Of course, Cam didn’t say it this way.
“Mike Tomlin is very well spoken. He says the right things. You can tell he’s a great head coach on the sidelines, but you can tell that in his off time, he’s a n*gga-n*gga. Russell Wilson ain’t no n*gga-n*gga,” Cam said. “Don’t f*ck real n*gga shit up.”
It was a brilliant articulation of the duality Black men and the difference between those who identify with the cause and those who caution against it.
In 2024, Cam would host a more laid back, casual conversation show Talk With Flee. A one-on-one style show in which the Dipset Cam would wear his chain, du-rag and bravado. If It Is What It Is is Cameron Giles then Talk With Flee is Killa Cam.
And then something started changing. The language from the two shows almost began merging and the conversation on the more buttoned up telecast started to become a bit less tactful.
Then the Diddy RICO trial began and Ma$e, (who has to know more than he’s ever let on considering he was one of Sean Combs’ Bad Boy artists during at least some of the allegations,) became noticeably uncomfortable or dismissive around the subject.
The freak-offs between Diddy, his then girlfriend singer Cassie, and sex workers became a joke, because like most of the rest of America it was jarring to learn that Diddy, one of the most prolific and vocal contributors to Hip-Hop in the past 20 years was in a cuckold relationship, in which he allegedly not only liked watching other men with his then girlfriend, but was willing to pay male escorts to be with her while he watched.
And then Cam had one of the male escorts, a man that goes by the name “The Punisher,” (né Sharay Hayes) onto Talk With Flee and it didn’t take long for the conversation to go all the way left.
“Was the p*ssy good?” Cam questioned, referring to Cassie.
And this is where the language of the street and the brashness of Hip-Hop become a disservice to the show and a crutch for Cam. There was an opportunity, a very real opportunity for Cam to have an honest conversation about sex work, sexual abuse, and sexual trauma.
This conversation required a level of sensitivity that I don’t think Cam has, or at least hasn’t exhibited. Cassie maintains that her relationship with Diddy wasn’t just physically abusive but sexually abusive. She’s claimed both in her civil suit and during her testimony that the cycle of abuse included threats made to her and her family. She noted that she couldn’t turn down Diddy’s sexual demands even though she found having sex with random sex workers disgusting and humiliating. She claimed that Diddy would threaten to expose her sextapes and make her “look like a slut” by releasing the videos.
“I feared for my career. I feared for my family. It’s just embarrassing. It’s horrible and disgusting. No one should do that to anyone,” said Cassie.
And Cam somehow took all of this trauma and sexual abuse and found a way to reduce it to the worst question possible. He made a horrific situation worse for no reason other than a cheap laugh at a sexual assault survivor’s expense.
Just a few days later while discussing possible rape charges against New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson on It Is What It Is Cam took aggressive, derogatory shots at an adult entertainer.
After news that an unnamed woman filed rape charges against Williamson, Moriah Mills (who had a relationship with Williamson,) claimed that she was considering taking legal action against the Pelicans star.
Cam didn’t just make disparaging comments about Mills’ claims, he…I’ll let Cam explain it.
“B*tch, you was mad he got another b*tch pregnant and you was upset,” Cam said. “You do porn. N*ggas cum on your face for a living.”
He also noted that Mills should “Shut the f*ck up” before calling her a “C*m-bucket sl*t.”
And if that wasn’t bad enough, he fell into a common trope in rape culture in which he noted that if Mills was telling the truth that there should be “scars and bruises” proving that she was assaulted.
“I just wanna see a little evidence with these accusations,” he said.
“I’m not saying she doesn’t have evidence, I didn’t do any due diligence on this topic, I just read it and was like, ‘Whatever, here we go again,’” he continued.
It’s this dismissive attitude from men that leads to sexual assaults going unreported. As it stands, rape is the most under-reported crime with some 63% of sexual assault victims suffering in silence.
I’m not expecting the “Suck It Or Not” rapper to be a changed man on his new medium, but there was a real moment here for an adult conversation from an almost 50-year-old man to show that he’s grown up. Cam’ron is not a stupid man. He’s not only survived being a cassette tape rapper in a streaming world, but he’s thrived and clearly mastered a whole new domain.
But these conversations that he’s having are sensitive and require a bit more context and nuance from a man who is closer to getting his AARP card than he is his next platinum plaque.
But something tells me that Cam’s going to ignore this missive and keep that same energy, and maybe I’ve been ignoring the obvious, because at this point, It Is What It Is.

When you have a cerebral rap savant like Kendrick Lamar in your Rolodex, who wouldn’t take advantage of that? Ray Vaughn revealed that he sought out Kendrick’s guidance on certain tracks during his battle with Joey Bada$$.

The Top Dawg Entertainment rapper stopped by The Bootleg Kev Podcast on Friday (June 6), where he opened up about what advice he received from Lamar.
Trending on Billboard
“I can call him,” he said of Lamar. “I’m on the phone when I’m going at Joey [Bada$$], ‘Ay, do you f–k with this?’ I always get feedback. It still got a protocol.”
Vaughn said some of the advice he got from Lamar was that less is more at times, as K.Dot suggested he remove ad-libs from tracks.
“If anything, it’s take something out. Like ad-libs, take some ad-libs about,” he continued. “Or if it’s not, it didn’t come out… It’s still the way we run TDE, it’s still the same thing. You’ve got to go down the line. When they post it, it’s going on TDE’s page. N—a, you speaking and it’s coming from our side, come correct.”
The Long Beach rapper also confirmed that he received advice from TDE’s Ab-Soul, but stated that he “couldn’t go too far” due to the nature of Soul’s relationship with Joey.
Joey Bada$$ continued to bait Kendrick Lamar by taking swipes at the Compton MC, but Lamar never ended up issuing an official response.
After a series of jabs earlier this year, Ray Vaughn lit the fuse with his “Justin Credible Freestyle” in May, which sparked over a dozen diss tracks being heaved back-and-forth with drops from Bada$$, Daylyt, Ray Vaughn, Reason, Az Chike, Kai Ca$h and even Ab-Soul and YG.
Vaughn contributed plenty of fuel to the fire with “Crashout Heritage,” “Impossible Patty,” “Hoe Era” and “Golden Eye.”
He clarified to Bootleg Kev that there’s “no real beef” with Joey and claimed, “It’s good for the sport.” “We got all the podcasters [and] hip-hop media talking about hip-hop. Not who’s texting who, not who’s f—ing who,” he added. “We pushed hip-hop to the forefront again.”

Singer SiR explained why his Toronto concert got cancelled last summer, and it might be because of the drama between Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
SiR is signed to TDE, the former label Kendrick Lamar was under was supposed to perform in Toronto, Drake’s hometown. The show was sold out, but it got cancelled at the last minute. At the time, SiR said he didn’t know why and apologized to fans. During a recent show in Canada, SiR said the real reason might’ve been the beef between Kendrick and Drake. He told the crowd that things got “too close to home” for some people. He said the venue, which is partly owned by Drake, shut it down.
Then, when they tried to book a different place, that venue said no too, because they didn’t want to take the risk.
Another rapper from TDE, Schoolboy Q, said his Toronto show got cancelled too. He posted online that the Canadian police didn’t want anyone from their group performing. He joked that if they really wanted to start trouble, they would’ve already. SiR also joked about how he was in Kendrick’s music video for the Drake diss track “Not Like Us.” He said, “Now I get it, this is kind of funny. I don’t know why Kendrick put me in that video. All I could think about was my show getting cancelled.”
Basically, this rap beef is so petty, it might be messing with concerts now.

Last week, Elon Musk and Donald Trump had social media in a frenzy as their bromance very publicly (and expectedly) fell apart. Both men took swipes at one another, culminating with Elon Musk tweeting that the real reason the Epstein files were never released was because Donald Trump was included in them.
Looking to create a diversion and public spectacle, Trump basically declared war on California and sent in the National Guard to quell peaceful protests against ICE’s heavy-handed raids of Latino communities. Still, Musk continued to tweet shots at Trump (and even his policy man, Stephen Miller), but according to Newsweek, would delete them as he doesn’t want all the smoke with the current sitting “president.”
While LA was quickly becoming ground zero for Donald Trump’s long-anticipated fascist movement of using the U.S. military against the American people, Musk continued to mock Trump and his administration about the Epstein connection, and though there are many pictures of Trump and Epstein turning up at various parties, Trump’s administration and others connected to it continue to do what they can to run cover for him.
Per Newsweek:
Trump on Friday responded to Musk’s accusation by posting on Truth Social a message from Epstein’s former lawyer David Schoen from X, which claimed his client “had no information to hurt President Trump.”
“I was hired to lead Jeffrey Epstein’s defense as his criminal lawyer 9 days before he died. He sought my advice for months before that. I can say authoritatively, unequivocally, and definitively that he had no information to hurt President Trump. I specifically asked him!” Schoen, who briefly represented Epstein shortly before the financier’s death in 2019, wrote.
Thousands of pages of records that named people with ties to Epstein, who died while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges in 2019, have been released over the years.
However, there is no evidence to suggest Trump is mentioned in any unreleased files related to Epstein. And while the president is mentioned in some of the previously released court documents on Epstein, he has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
While many assumed that the fallout would eventually lead to Musk confirming a widely believed conspiracy theory that he stole the election by hacking voting machines in swing states, it seems like Musk is once again trying to endear himself to Trump and MAGA by siding with ICE and condemning protestors in Los Angeles in his latest tweets.
So much for that.
Whether or not Donald Trump forgives Elon Musk for pulling his alleged pedo card remains to be seen; the man is known to hold grudges like no other, but what’s becoming obvious is that both of these men are as unpredictable and ego-driven as anyone we’ve ever seen in the political world. That doesn’t bode well for America.
What do y’all think the end result of this beef between Elon Musk and Donald Trump will be? Let us know in the comments section below.

One of the underworld’s most infamous figures is taking his talents to Hollywood. Former kingpin Willy Falcon’s story is set to be a movie.
Deadline is exclusively reporting that former president of Tyler Perry Studios is betting on himself and he is hoping to hit it big by partnering with Willy Falcon. This week, Ozzie Areu announced that he will bring the former Cuban drug lord’s memoir, The Last Kilo: Willy Falcon and the Cocaine Empire That Seduced America, to life. Ozzie detailed his plans and why he believes Willy is larger than life. “This is a story that’s captivated audiences for decades. Now, in legendary form, Willy Falcon is opening up about the life he lived,” Areu said. “I’m already in talks with some of the industry’s top writers to give these stories the caliber of writing they deserve – from anti-Castro alliances to secret deals with Noriega, Escobar, and even the CIA. This is the unfiltered truth.”
Willy Falcon also made it clear that this not a vanity project but an opportunity to share his truth. “I’ve waited decades for this moment because I want people to finally hear the whole truth,” Falcon said in a formal statement. “It’s time to share my story, my legacy – nothing is off-limits. This goes beyond the rumors and what’s been written in the press.” Ozzie believes Willy’s story is so powerful that he plans to not make a feature film about it but also has plans to create a television series and a podcast.
Augusto Guillermo “Willy” Falcon is a former trafficker known for overseeing one of the largest drug operations in history. According to The Sun Sentinel, he and his partner Sal Magluta were federally indicted in 1991 for allegedly running a continuing criminal enterprise that distributed over 75 tons of cocaine. They were eventually found not guilty in 1996. Shortly after, the United States Attorney’s Office investigated their finances and found that two possibly bribed the jury.
Willy Falcon is the subject of the six-part docuseries Cocaine Cowboys: The Kings of Miami. You can watch the trailer for it below.
