For the past few weeks, the American people have been speaking up against Donald Trump’s fascist regime amid his hardcore immigration crackdown, which has led to quite a few Americans and neutralized citizens getting caught up in his dragnet of apparent ethnic cleansing. But while we see his own personal Gestapo terrorize Black and Brown communities in LA, New York and other cities, many aren’t aware that ICE is also invading the often-overlooked island of Puerto Rico.
Yes, Puerto Rico too has been dealing with ICE raids as masked white men rummage through the Borinquen streets and search for illegal immigrants on the island. Many of its residents aren’t pleased with what they’re seeing including its most famous superstar today, Bad Bunny. Taking to social media to show ICE “agents” harassing everyday people while they work, Bad Bunny cursed out ICE (in Spanish of course), called them “sons of b*tches” and slammed them for terrorizing everyday working people in the streets of Puerto Rico.
While it may be a bit confusing as to why ICE is on a Latino island looking for Latinos to deport, the U.S. commonwealth does house quite a few people from places like the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and other countries that aren’t part of the U.S.
Still, Puerto Ricans are known to have welcomed people from all places to their island, but this current American regime is having none of that. With numbers suggesting that up to 20,000 illegal immigrants live in Puerto Rico and ICE having a quota to meet of 3,000 deportations per day, it doesn’t seem like ICE will be leaving the good people of Puerto Rico (or America for that matter) alone anytime soon.
On the bright side, there is word that ICE is already a billion dollars over budget and may soon run out of money to keep operations going. Still, it feels like in Trump’s America, hate will always find a way to flourish even at the expense of decent people.
What do y’all think about ICE carrying out deportation operations in Puerto Rico? Let us know in the comments section below.

Quavo came back to his hometown of Atlanta to host the second Rocket Summit, an event focused on fighting gun violence in local communities.
The summit took place at the College Football Hall of Fame and was organized by Quavo and The Rocket Foundation to honor his late nephew and Migos member, Takeoff, who passed away in 2022. The event also happened during Gun Violence Prevention Month, making it even more meaningful.
The Rocket Summit brought together community leaders, young people, survivors of violence, and activists to talk about ways to make neighborhoods safer. The day started with a special lunch for VIPs, then continued with panels and smaller group sessions where everyone could share ideas on how to reduce violence.
One of the main discussions, called “The Urgency of Now,” included experts from groups like Cities United and Moms Demand Action. They talked about why it’s important to invest time and resources into programs that help stop violence before it starts. Another panel, “We Are the Change,” featured local leaders who shared their personal experiences and explained how being connected to the community helps them find solutions.
During the smaller breakout sessions, participants talked about different topics like how to get youth involved, support people with legal issues, and push for changes in laws. There were also mental health resources available for anyone who needed them.
The day ended with a heartfelt talk between Quavo and podcast hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. Quavo stressed how important healing and kindness are when dealing with gun violence. The Rocket Summit is not only helping communities come together to create change but also is a special way for Quavo to honor Takeoff’s memory by working to make Atlanta safer for everyone.

Lorde is laying down the hammer in the last few days before her new album, Virgin, drops, with the pop star announcing that she has one more single coming out in advance.
On Instagram Wednesday (June 18), Lorde revealed that the new song will be titled “Hammer.” “First song on the album,” she wrote in her caption. “An ode to city life and horniness tbh.”
The New Zealand native also shared what appears to be the track’s cover art: a photo of Lorde’s reflection repeating infinitely in opposite-facing bathroom mirrors as she washes her face at the sink, wearing a white tank and gray underwear.
Lorde didn’t say when exactly the song will arrive, but she did post on Instagram one day prior the announcement, “Virgin in ten days another song in a few.”
Trending on Billboard
“Hammer” will follow Virgin‘s first two singles, “What Was That” and “Man of the Year.” Lorde dropped the former in April along with a DIY music video filmed in part at a fan meetup in Washington Square Park, and on the latter — released in late May — she reflects on her broadening gender identity while embracing her inner masculinity.
Gender is one of several topics Lorde has promised to explore on Virgin, which drops June 27 via Republic Records featuring production from Jim-E Stack, Fabiana Palladino, Andrew Aged, Buddy Ross, Dan Nigro and Dev Hynes of Blood Orange. The singer-songwriter has also said that the album was informed by her experiences with disordered eating, quitting birth control and breaking off a longterm relationship.
“THE COLOUR OF THE ALBUM IS CLEAR,” she described the project when announcing it back in April. “LIKE BATHWATER, WINDOWS, ICE, SPIT. FULL TRANSPARENCY. THE LANGUAGE IS PLAIN AND UNSENTIMENTAL. THE SOUNDS ARE THE SAME WHEREVER POSSIBLE. I WAS TRYING TO SEE MYSELF, ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A DOCUMENT THAT REFLECTED MY FEMININITY: RAW, PRIMAL, INNOCENT, ELEGANT, OPENHEARTED, SPIRITUAL, MASC.”

VCG / TikTok / Donald Trump
US TikTok users, you still have time to make your dance videos after Donald Trump extended the deadline for a third time, allowing the platform to divest from its Chinese-owned parent company, ByteDance, or face a US ban.
Notorious liar, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that Felon 47 will sign an executive order allowing for another 90-day extension, pushing the new deadline to mid-September.
Leavitt said the Trump administration will be “working to ensure this deal is closed so that the American people can continue to use TikTok with the assurance that their data is safe and secure.”
When Trump signed the first extension, it provided TikTok’s US service providers, which are subject to the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, with protection from the hundreds of billions in penalties they would face if they continued to operate the app online and in US app stores.
According to The Verge’s reporting, that legal cover wasn’t rock solid because Trump’s extensions are not codified into law, which was passed overwhelmingly by a bipartisan vote in Congress and subsequently upheld as constitutional by the Supreme Court.
There Was A Tentative Agreement In Place Before Trump’s Tariffs Killed It
The website previously reported that ByteDance and a coalition led by Oracle were close to a deal in April, but thanks to Trump’s abuse of tariffs, which sank the tentative agreement.
Even though the “trade war” between China and the US has cooled down, there is still no word on whether the old deal is back on the table or if a new agreement is being discussed.
Additionally, it wasn’t guaranteed that ByteDance would be willing to include TikTok’s algorithm, which powers its video recommendations.
Additionally, several lawmakers, including critics of the “divest or ban law,” are sounding the alarm over Trump’s repeated extensions, calling them “untenable and illegal.”
We remain curious to see how this drama unfolds, as it appears there is no deal in sight.

Billboard Unfiltered returned on Wednesday (June 18) with another brand-new episode featuring a special guest: Rapsody was in the building.
This week, senior director of R&B/Hip-Hop Carl Lamarre returned with hip-hop editor Angel Diaz alongside Rapsody to debate who is the greatest rapper/producer combination of all time.
First up, Lamarre made the case for Nas and Hit-Boy, who connected for five projects over the course of 36 months with three installments of the King’s Disease series, which Lamarre holds in the upper echelon of rap album series, and a pair of Magic projects.
“When they came into each other’s lives, I think they changed the dynamic of what hip-hop is today in terms of what we look at from a rapper and producer standpoint,” Lamarre declared. “From 2020 to 2023, we saw the best rapping of Nas’ career.”
He continued: “King’s Disease is probably one of the best series in hip-hop of all-time. Magic one and two, flawless. We introduce Nas in a new era… Some of the best beats in Hit-Boy’s career came from working with Nas and they got a Grammy out of it.”

Angel Diaz laid out the case for Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, as he believes the duo put the West Coast on the map. “They had The Chronic and Doggystyle back-to-back and then they came back with 2001,” he said. “They put the West Coast on the map.”
Taking things a step further, Diaz explained that there’s still remnants of Dre and Snoop’s G-funk DNA in West Coast rap decades later as seen in Kendrick Lamar’s GNX.
As for Rapsody, she elected to spotlight the Clipse and Pharrell. “From their first project Lord Willin’ to this one — I haven’t heard all of it — but it’s setting up to be a phenomenal classic,” she said. “It’s like they’ve evolved and haven’t missed a step. This ain’t gon’ be a miss, we can feel the energy.”
The North Carolina rapper added: “When you have a producer and a rapper come together and they always create their best work together, it’s undeniable,” “Those two, that’s always their best work.”
There was plenty of back-and-forth, but moderator Delisa Shannon gave the victory to Carl Lamarre and his pick of Nas and Hit-Boy on Wednesday’s show.

NIVA ‘25 — the fourth annual conference for the National Independent Venue Association, slated to take place June 22-25 in Milwaukee — is happening against the backdrop of some of the fiercest ticketing battles heating up around the country. According to NIVA executive director Stephen Parker, this year alone throughout the U.S., there have been nearly 70 bills introduced in almost 30 states pertaining to ticketing, and the conference is set to address the good, bad and the ugly amid the fight.
“Ticketing continues to be the singular focus,” Parker tells Billboard. “Ticketing is turning into the proxy battle in legislatures — federal, state and local — for the future of live performance.”
The conference will include panels such as “Battling Scalping Goes to Washington, D.C.”; “Turn the Tables: Make the Ticket Resale Market Work For You”; “How We Solve a Problem Like Chargebacks”; and ticketing network sessions, all of which will focus on different ticketing issues facing independent venues. The subject of ticketing will also be part of conversations about local and federal regulations and be weaved into various other panels.

“This conference is an opportunity and a catalyst for us to come together, assess what’s happened this year — our wins and losses in states fighting against predatory resellers,” Parker continues, “and come out of this conference with a plan to make sure that any sort of anti-consumer policy that’s being pushed by predatory resale platforms and brokers, we have a renewed strategy to address it and make sure that the freedom that fans should have from deception and fraud continues to reign supreme.”
Poor ticket buying experiences are impacting fans’ desire to attend more shows and hiking prices so high that many can only afford a limited number of shows each year. And on the venue side, credit card chargebacks have become a major issue.
One of the conference discussions will be “what can we do to make sure that that credit card chargebacks don’t take us down,” Parker says. “Especially given that most of those chargebacks, it seems, are coming from predatory resellers that have sold the tickets and are just trying to maximize their profits that they’re making off the backs of small venues and independent artists.”
While the subject of ticketing will take center stage at the conference — which is being held across the city at different independent venues — the conversations will touch on many other topics. After every conference, NIVA reaches out to its 1,500 members and asks them what subjects they would like to see represented at the following year’s gathering — and the organization, through programming director Jamie Loeb, has managed work more than 100 issues that affect independent venue owners into this year’s program. Among them, NIVA ‘25’s programming will also address declining alcohol sales, the purpose of middle agents, the performing rights and licensing landscape, marketing, and breaking through in the attention economy.
“If I were to say what the theme of this conference [is], it’s ‘How do we break through?’” says Parker.
One of the key methods for breaking through is telling the story of independent venues and the impact they have on local communities, as well as globally. During the conference, NIVA plans to unveil extensive data on the economics of independent venues, which the association hopes will help tell that story.
“I can tell you that it’s a mixed bag,” Parker says of the data. “There’s such promise and optimism and potential growth for the sector, but that growth and optimism is suppressed by the continued threats of predatory resale and monopolies and inflation. We’re going to talk about what we do moving forward in terms of how we address those monopolies.”
Attendees will be able to learn about best practices for dealing with government entities, from city councils to state legislatures, as well as hear about how other countries are moving to save their own cultural spaces.
The association will also use the conference to detail the expansion of its collective bargaining agreements. While NIVA introduced its collective bargaining program nearly 18 months ago, its efforts are continuing to expand.
“At least a quarter of our members have taken advantage of this program, either for discounts for food, discounts for equipment, discounts for sound and lighting. We’re thinking beyond just the physical and going to services and fees and things that every venue has to pay every day,” says Parker. “We will be announcing some exciting new opportunities for our members on that front to try to make the cost of doing business lighter for them.”
NIVA ‘25 kicks off this Sunday with an opening keynote from My Morning Jacket’s Jim James. Other discussions will include producer Jimmy Jam, former Capitol Music Group CEO Michelle Jubelirer and High Road Touring founder Frank Riley. For more information on NIVA ‘25, head here.
