Rihanna & A$AP Rocky Get Lovey-Dovey in Matching Outfits at ‘Black Panther 2’ Premiere

It was date night for the Fenty-Mayers household Wednesday evening (Oct. 26). Hitting the purple carpet for the Marvel Studios premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky stepped out in matching outfits and shared a few sweet moments of PDA before heading inside the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

While posing for cameras on the carpet, the couple — who became first-time parents when they welcomed a baby boy together in May — squeezed close together, sometimes holding hands. At one point, Rocky (born Rakim Mayers) leaned in to kiss a grinning Ri on the cheek.

Both stars were dressed in head-to-toe khaki-colored material, with the Fenty Beauty founder sporting a glittering floor-length gown adorned with light-blue trimming, silky opera gloves and open-toe heels. Rocky, on the other hand, rocked a tan oversized jacket and sneakers, with a train extending from his pant legs and billowing out over his ankles — just like the train attached to Ri’s dress.

The same day the “Love on the Brain” singer attended the film premiere, it was announced that she would be contributing an original song titled “Lift Me Up” to the Wakanda Forever soundtrack. Written in tribute to late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, who passed away at age 43 in 2020, the track drops Friday (Oct. 28), marking Rihanna’s first proper music release in six years.

“I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life,” Tems — who co-wrote the song with Rihanna, Ludwig Göransson and Panther director Ryan Cooglerin — said in a statement. “I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them. Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters Nov. 11.

Kanye West Claims He Lost $2 Billion in Just One Day In Wake of Antisemitic Remarks

Kanye West has put a hard, shocking number on the gargantuan financial free-fall caused by his recent spate of antisemitic remarks. In an Instagram post on Thursday morning (Oct 27) addressed to Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel — who last week urged companies to stop working with West — the rapper who now goes by Ye wrote, “Ari Emanuel. I lost 2 billion dollars in one day. And I’m still alive. This is love speech. I still love you. God still loves you. The money is not who I am. The people is who I am.”

At press time Billboard was unable to confirm the figures cited by West, who over the past week has been dropped by his reps at CAA, lost partnerships with Adidas, The Gap and Balenciaga, had his Essentials playlist pulled from Apple Music, his products taken off shelves at TJ Maxx and was cut off by Foot Locker. The end of the Adidas deal will reportedly result in a $246 million loss for the company this year and is believed to be the linchpin in Ye’s loss of billionaire status.

The athletic company had stated earlier this month that its collaboration with Ye was “under review” after he claimed on a now-removed episode of the Drink Champs podcast that “the thing about it being Adidas is, like, I can literally say antisemitic s–t and they can’t drop me … I can antisemitic things and Adidas can’t drop me. Now what?” Then, after several weeks of interviews in which Ye repeatedly made derogatory comments about the Jewish people — after also raising ire over the “White Lives Matter” shirts he unveiled at Paris Fashion Week earlier this month — the team at Adidas said they had had enough.

In further blows to the once-esteemed rapper’s crumbling public image, he was unceremoniously escorted out of the Skechers office on Tuesday (Oct. 26) after showing up “uninvited,” even as his wax figure was removed from Madame Tussauds London and his Donda Academy basketball team was bounced from a tournament over his hate speech. In addition, two of the prominent athletes signed to his Donda Sports marketing firm severed ties citing their objection to West’s repeated amplification of anti-Jewish tropes. At press time Billboard was not able to reach a spokesperson for West for comment on his Instagram post.

West’s fall from grace has been accompanied by condemnation from nearly every corner of his once-formidable music and fashion empire, with longtime label Universal Music and publisher Sony also denouncing his hate speech and his longtime engineer Andrew Dawson vowing to donate his royalties to Jewish organizations.

West appeared to mock his dire situation in an earlier post on Tuesday featuring a fake headline from a fictional news agency (whose offensive name Billboard will not publish) that read, “Ye has reportedly cut ties with Kanye West,” in which he seemed to mock his business empire’s meltdown alongside the comment “Had to cut ties bro.”

The swift reprisals have taken an ax to a war chest Ye once claimed was closer to $3.3 billion, but which Forbes now estimates is in the still-formidable $400 million range; the multi-year Adidas partnership alone was reportedly worth around $1.5 billion. The financial magazine said that what remains of West’s financial empire now consists of “real estate, cash, his music catalog, and a 5% stake in ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s shapewear firm, Skims.”

Feting Jackson will be Dierks Bentley, Jon Pardi, Carrie Underwood, and Lainey Wilson, who will all take to the CMA Awards stage for an all-star tribute to the Country Music Hall of Famer.

The CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an artist who has reached the highest degree of recognition in country music, and recognizes an artist who has earned national and international prominence through concert performances, humanitarian efforts, philanthropy, streaming numbers, record sales and public representation, and has contributed to the growth of the country music genre throughout a number of years that have had unprecedented historical impact on fans and the industry.

Previous recipients of the CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award include Willie Nelson (2012), Kenny Rogers (2013), Johnny Cash (2015), Dolly Parton (2016), Kris Kristofferson (2019), Charley Pride (2020), and Loretta Lynn (2021).

Jackson may be “a singer of simple songs,” as he croons in “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning),” but it is those songs, paired with his relatable, straightforward vocal, that have gained Jackson his status as a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, among other accolades.

Since the release of his debut single, “Blue Blooded Woman” in 1989, Jackson has earned 26 Billboard No. 1 country songs (and 51 top 10 singles), with hits including “Midnight in Montgomery,” “Chattahoochee,” and “Livin’ on Love,” and was the sole songwriter behind many of his fan-favorite songs. Jackson has won the CMA’s entertainer of the year honor three times. Following the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, Jackson saw his song “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” become an anthem of hope and healing. The song earned Jackson his first Grammy Award (for best country song), and in November 2001, Georgia congressman Mac Collins read the song’s lyrics on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, securing it in the permanent Congressional Record.

He’s released more than 20 albums and collections during his career, and in 2014 was given the first ASCAP Heritage Award, which recognized him as the most-performed country music songwriter-artist of the last century. Jackson has sold nearly 60 million albums, and has won more than 150 awards during his career.

“We are thrilled to honor Alan Jackson this year with the CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award,” says Sarah Trahern, CMA CEO “A three-time CMA Entertainer of the Year, he is responsible for so many iconic moments in CMA Awards history. Just as Alan has been influenced by many Country legends throughout his career, he too has inspired a generation of artists to stay true to the authenticity of Country Music. We are so excited to bring Dierks, Jon, Carrie and Lainey together on the CMA Awards stage for what will surely be an incredible and touching tribute to an artist they each deeply admire. Having had the great fortune of working with Alan over the years, I am delighted we are honoring him with this milestone award next month.”

No, Jack Harlow Is Not a ‘Sexy Yeti’ in ‘SNL’ Promo, That’s Just His Actual Coat

Jack Harlow is pumped and totally ready to pull double-duty as host/musical guest on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live. In the promo for the show Harlow runs into SNL long-hauler Kenan Thompson and new guy Marcello Hernández who seem kind of confused about the “First Class” rapper’s sartorial style.

In the bit, Harlow is waiting by an elevator while dressed in a full length white shearling coat when Thompson and Hernández excitedly roll up. “I’m so hyped to host this week,” Harlow says as Thompson assures him that he’s gonna kill it. “Looks like you’re already in the Halloween spirit,” Kenan says while pointing to the jacket and Jack’s all-white outfit for the 2022 Halloween edition of SNL. “Yeah, bro, costume goes crazy,” Marcello laughs.

The two then begin a riff-off guessing what Harlow is dressed as, tossing out a variety of options, from a box of Kleenex to a cotton ball, “the whole White Lotus,” sanitary napkin, pimp on a cruise ship and sexy yeti. Harlow thinks a second on that last one, but says the answer is still no, it’s none of those things.

The hits keep coming, though, including MC Teddy Roosevelt, Fluff Daddy, Almost Historically Accurate Jesus and, sigh, Macklemore. “Guys, this is just my outfit!” Harlow assures them before getting into the elevator and whispering the real inspiration behind the ‘fit.

Harlow follows fellow artist Megan Thee Stallion, who also recently pulled double duty as host and musical guest; while it’s his first hosting run, Harlow performed on SNL last year and appeared in a bit about NFTs that parodied Eminem’s “Without Me.” And, earlier this month, Jack got some late-night television practice time in with Jimmy Fallon when he co-hosted The Tonight Show.

Hemsworth, who plays “Thor” in a succession of blockbuster Marvel films, and is recognized as the highest-paid Australian actor, is an ambassador for the music-meets-fashion project, which takes place across Australia on Nov. 18.

The Aussie actor fronts a new marketing campaign, which launched last week and was created pro bono by Mushroom Creative House.

“This Ausmusic T-Shirt Day we not only want you to show your support by wearing a t-shirt with your favorite Aussie artist on it, but we also want you to donate to the cause.”

For the exercise, Hemsworth wears a Teskey Brothers t-shirt, in honor of the ARIA and APRA Award winning blues-rock band from Melbourne, led by Josh and Sam Teskey.

Hemsworth joins more than 30 stars of Australian music, screen and stage who’ve assembled for the initiative, including Darren Hayes, Kylie Minogue, Cub Sport and Jessica Mauboy, who is also announced Thursday (Oct. 27) as an ambassador.

The campaign is soundtracked by The Chats’ “AC/DC CD,” and will splash across Australian TV and social media channels from next week.

Funds raised will flow to Support Act, the Australian music industry charity which supports musicians, managers, crew and music workers through crisis relief, mental health and wellbeing programs.

“Chris Hemsworth has always been a big supporter of Australian Music, wearing a Teskey Brothers t-shirt in this year’s campaign,” says Clive Miller, CEO of Support Act, “so to have someone of his standing alongside such an incredible artist as Jess Mauboy, really takes our fundraiser and awareness of music workers in need to the next level.”

Ausmusic T-Shirt is supported by ARIA and celebrated across triple j, Double J and the ABC as part of Ausmusic Month. The 2021 edition raised more than A$500,000 ($325,000) for good causes, a record sum for the campaign. This year, organizers are targeting A$750,000, with almost A$85,000 of that pledged at the time of writing.

Kanye West Essentials Playlist Disappears From Apple Music Following Anti-Semitic Rhetoric

Apple Music appears to have joined the widening list of businesses distancing themselves from Kanye West in light of his repeated anti-Semitic remarks.

The streaming music giant has apparently pulled Kanye West Essentials Playlist, after the rap veteran, who now goes by the name Ye, made offensive comments online and, again, in interviews.

Billboard has reached out to Apple for comment, though the tech giant’s reps hadn’t responded at the time of writing.

Earlier this week, Daniel Ek, CEO at Spotify, Apple Music’s rival, addressed the hip-hop star and his “awful” comments for an interview with Reuters.

Ek, however, noted that his music did not violate the Spotify’s anti-hate policies and that the ball was in the court of Ye’s label, Universal Music Group’s Def Jam, to pull his catalog if they chose to.

“It’s really just his music, and his music doesn’t violate our policy,” Ek told Reuters, noting, “It’s up to his label, if they want to take action or not.”

Ek went on to explain that Ye’s anti-Semitic comments would have been yanked from Spotify if they had made in a podcast or recording, per their hate speech policy, but that wasn’t the case.

A spokesperson for UMG has since clarified that “Def Jam’s relationship with Ye as a recording artist, Def Jam’s partnership with the GOOD Music label venture and Ye’s merchandise agreement with Bravado all ended in 2021.”

The Ye exodus is now in full flight.

WME chief Ari Emanuel directly called on West’s corporate partners, particularly Spotify and Apple Music, to stop collaborating with him.

Since then, talent agency CAA dropped him as a client, MRC Entertainment shelved a completed documentary on the hip-hop icon and Balenciaga, GAP and Vogue cut all ties with him.

Earlier in the week, Ye lost his biggest corporate backer, the sportswear giant Adidas, with which he had a multi-year partnership for its line of Yeezy products, valued at $1.5 billion.

“Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech,” the company said in a statement Tuesday. “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”

Other brands and companies that have ended their relationships with West in the aftermath include Foot LockerTJ Maxx and his  Donda Academy team was removed from the Scholastic Play-By-Play Classics season schedule.

“I actually wrote this song about one of my friend’s breakups, not my personal one,” Kenzie explained of the song. “She got broken up with on Christmas Eve, and it’s just a terrible, terrible story. I just wanted to shed light on how something can ruin everything for you during breakups. It can ruin seasons, it can ruin restaurants you went to. … I wanted to talk about that.

“It’s been really fun stepping out of my comfort zone,” she added of playing around with her look, testing out new hair colors and clothing. “I feel like this is an all-around new era for me. I’ve been so happy, I’m comfortable with my music and I’m trying new things. It’s fun playing dress up all the time.”

Kenzie also shouted out her older sister and fellow Dance Moms alum Maddie Ziegler. “My sister is my strongest, biggest supporter on this. She always tells me how proud she is of me,” she shared, before reacting on-camera to a video of herself and her sister when they visited Billboard‘s offices as kids.

“I was such a sassy little kid. I was so sassy and dramatic and always thought I was right,” she said with a laugh, before adding, “That is so funny. Maddie looks so young and it’s so weird to see her so young.”
