Karol G’s ‘Mañana Será Bonito’ Featuring Shakira Collab Is Here: Stream It Now

Karol G‘s Mañana Será Bonito has arrived. The 17-track set released Friday (Feb. 24) kicks off with “Mientras Me Curo del Cora” and features collaborations with Shakira, Quevedo, Carla Morrison, Sean Paul, Sech, Bad Gyal, Justin Quiles and Angel Dior. It also includes previously released hit singles “Provenza,” “Cairo” with Ovy on the Drums, “Gatubela” featuring Maldy, and the Romeo Santos-assisted “X Si Volvemos.”

One of the most anticipated collaborations on the set was the one with Shakira, which was confirmed just days before the album dropped. The pair join forces for “TQG,” which marks the first time the Colombian superstars unite for a track. “We know what you’ve all been waiting for and here we are,” Karol G and Shakira jointly posted on social media when they shared the news with their millions of fans.

For this new album, Karol worked with producers Tainy, Finneas and Edgar Barrera although most of the tracks on the set are produced by her go-to collaborator, Ovy on the Drums.

Mañana Será Bonito is her fourth studio album and it follows her 2021 Grammy-nominated KG0516, which scored Karol her first No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums. The set earned the biggest week for a Latin album by a woman since Shakira‘s 2017 El Dorado.

Karol announced the new album in January with a heartfelt message that said: “Today I announce a project that I’ve dedicated so much love and time to. I just know that for me and for everyone else, Mañana Será Bonito (Tomorrow Will Be Pretty).”

Jonas Brothers Take Flight on Lofty New Single ‘Wings’: Stream It Now

Jonas Brothers dropped their soaring new single “Wings” on Friday (Feb. 24) via Republic Records.

Taking a cue from the Bee Gees, the pop-rock siblings float over a funky bass line as they deliver chill-inducing harmonies, singing, “You gave me a reason, you got me believin’/ You’re making me say/ You are the wings I need to fly away/ You are the wings I need to fly away/ It was you/ It was you, it was you from the very start/ Oh, always knew/ Always knew, you know, you gave me a reason/ You’ve got me belivin’/ You’re makin’ me say.”

Clocking in at less than two full minutes, “Wings” serves as the first taste of the JoBros forthcoming studio album The Album. In a recent interview with Billboard News, Joe Jonas called the swoon-worthy jam “a good entryway into what you’re gonna hear for the rest of the body of work.”

On Wednesday (Feb. 22), the trio announced they’d be unveiling the complete tracklist for the follow-up to 2019’s Happiness Begins throughout the week to fans who’ve already pre-saved The Album on streaming. Previously confirmed songs on the record include “Montana Sky,” “Vacation Eyes” and “Waffle House.”

The Album was originally slated for a May 5 release date, but the Jonas Brothers updated fans on their official social media accounts late Wednesday night (Feb. 22) that the LP will now arrive one week later than planned on May 12 in order to give it a vinyl release as well.

The Weeknd & Ariana Grande Reunite on ‘Die For You’ Remix: Stream It Now

The Weeknd and Ariana Grande are back and better than ever on the remix of the former’s 2016 smash “Die For You,” which was released Friday (Feb. 24).

“Die For You” has been experiencing a recent resurgence on the charts, with the song remaining in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 for the last seven weeks (and counting), with a peak position at No. 6. The original “Die For You” comes from The Weeknd’s Billboard 200-topping album Starboy, released in 2016. But now, he’s capitalizing on the seven-year-old song’s momentum with the help of the “Thank U, Next” superstar.

Grande posted a TikTok video earlier this week of her working on her section of the song. “Wrote and recorded a verse for my friend after a 14 hour day on set. This certain exception had to be made….” she captioned the clip, where she’s seen laying down harmonies and cutting vocal takes. The “Creepin’” singer posted her video on his Instagram account with a tearing up emoji.

But their fans can surely save their tears for another day, because the “Die For You” remix has finally arrived!

This marks the fourth time the pop dynamic duo have collaborated together. In 2021, The Weeknd recruited Grande for the Hot 100-topping remix of After Hours‘ “Save Your Tears.” He’s also featured on “Love Me Harder” from Grande’s 2014 sophomore album, My Everything, and “Off the Table” from her most recent album, 2020’s Positions.

Chuu Teams Up With WEi’s Kim Yo Han for Bossa Nova K-Pop Duet ‘Let’s Love’: Listen

Despite an ongoing battle with her former record label since splitting from her girl group, former LOONA member Chuu continues her career with a new duet alongside a trusted collaborator.

Delivering a breezy, bossa nova-tinged duet suited for spring weather, Chuu brings her signature sweet vocals to “Let’s Love” alongside Kim Yo Han, a singer-rapper in boy band WEi and former member of X1.

The delightful duet lets the two K-pop stars effortlessly harmonize and synchronize their voices throughout the verses and chorus, with Yo Han also spitting a rap in the second verse.

This K-pop duo previously teamed up in 2021 with R&B star Eric Bellinger on “World Is One,” which acted as a campaign theme song in Korea to aid children marginalized by COVID-19.

“Let’s Love” marks Chuu’s latest musical move after exiting her girl group amid her ongoing battle with former record label BlockBerryCreative, which has extended to more LOONA members.

Since Chuu was expelled and withdrawn from the Billboard 200–charting act after BlockBerryCreative cited “violent language and misuse of power” in November 2022, which Chuu denied, the remaining 11 members of LOONA have all filed lawsuits attempting to cut ties with BlockBerryCreative. After reports of BlockBerryCreative attempting to prohibit Chuu from working in Korea’s entertainment scene, citing contract violations, the 23-year-old made a short statement on Feb. 1 via Instagram regarding “slanderous” claims and expressed her distress over the label’s actions towards her and the LOONA members.

At press time, a representative for the label did not have a statement for Billboard other than official word from BlockBerryCreative will be shared in the future.

With the release of “Let’s Love,” it appears Chuu is still moving forward with her career.

Meanwhile, the other 11 LOONA members have not been very active in K-pop, but several have hopped onto social media. While the last personalized communication on LOONA’s official Twitter and Instagram accounts came from member ViVi on Dec. 9, 2022, members JinSoul, Kim Lip, Hyunjin, Choerry and ViVi have all since opened personal Instagram accounts.

On Dec. 22, 2022, BlockBerryCreative announced it had decided to indefinitely postpone a new EP from LOONA scheduled for Jan. 3, 2023.

Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ Named IFPI’s Top Global Single For 2022

We’ve all lived in Harry’s House in recent times, as Grammy Awards, Brit Awards and now a special IFPI Award go the way of Harry Styles.

The British pop star’s megahit “As It Was” is crowned with IFPI’s Global Single Award for 2022, an honor that recognizes the top performing single across all platforms, and all markets.

Lifted from Styles’ third solo studio album Harry’s House, “As It Was” racked up 2.28 billion global equivalent streams last year, according to the trade association, an impressive distance ahead of Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” (1.75 billion streams) and The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” (1.74 billion), which respectively complete the podium.

The IFPI Global Single Award is presented each year to the act with the world’s “best-selling” single across all digital formats — including paid subscription streaming, ad-supported platforms, and single-track downloads.

Following its release April 1, 2022, “As It Was” made its home at the top of sales charts on both sides of the Atlantic and across the globe.

In the U.K., it logged 10 weeks at No. 1, as Styles went on to sweep all four Brit Awards for which he was nominated — artist of the year, Mastercard album of the year, song of the year and the fan-voted pop/R&B act.

The single led the Billboard Hot 100 chart for an astonishing 15 weeks, helping Styles to win Grammys for album of the year and best pop vocal album, both for Harry’s House.

Styles even won the fan-voted best international artist at the 2022 ARIA Awards, after “As It Was” reigned over the national Australian chart for six weeks.

The Brit is no stranger to IFPI silverware. He first received an IFPI Award as part of One Direction when the association first launched the IFPI Global Recording Artist Chart 10 years ago.

Frances Moore, CEO of IFPI, congratulates the former 1D star and remarks: “It’s wonderful to see such a diverse mixture of songs in the Global Singles Chart this year – some familiar tracks from the previous year that continued to grow in 2022, amongst plenty of new tracks and some reimagined older tracks – all going to show that record companies are working hard to find new ways to ensure music fans around the world have access to such a wide range of music year on year.”

Earlier in the week, the IFPI anointed Taylor Swift as the global recording artist of the year, winning for an unprecedented third time, having already topped the tally in 2014 and 2019.

Styles came in at No. 8 on that official list, which ranks acts’ worldwide performance across digital and physical music formats during the year, from streams to vinyl, and covers their entire body of work.

After launching his Piano y Mujer series — which kicked off in 2021 via an HBO Max special — Arthur Hanlon returned with reggaeton royalty Ivy Queen. He was also joined by ranchera singer Lupita Infante, and Colombian vocalist Goyo of ChocQuibTown fame. 

The maestro began his set playing a beautiful melody as Goyo made her way to center stage. The ChocQuibTown frontwoman sparkled in a fuchsia dress as she sang the tropical classic “Gotas de Lluvia,” originally sung by her hometown heroes, salsa band Grupo Niche. 

The staging was something to behold, as Lupita Infante then made her way to the mic. Wearing a gorgeous black Mexican dress with colorful embroidered flowers, the granddaughter of Pedro Infante belted out “Si No Estás Tú,” the Spanish versión of “Without You,” originally by Harry Nilsson. 

Hanlon — who appeared in a white suit and silk blazer jacket with a floral imprint — provided impressive piano riffs that resonated from his grand Yamaha piano, adorned with red roses. Sweeping violins further amplified the night filled with musical passion. 

Up next, Ivy Queen showcased her singing versatility, belting out one of the most yearning love ballads in Latin pop history, “Ya Te Olvidé,” or “I Have Forgotten You,” a classic originally sung by Yurida and written by Marco Antonio Solís. 

“When we filmed the first Piano y Mujer, it was like a tribute and a celebration of strong, intelligent and creative women, like the women in my home,” Hanlon previously told Billboard Español. “I’m extremely proud.”

Earlier in the night, La Caballota delivered a masterclass on reggaeton at Premio Lo Nuestro, where connected the audience with decades of Ivy Queen hits.

Intocable Honored With Excellence Award at 2023 Premio Lo Nuestro

Intocable was a special award honoree at the 2023 Premio Lo Nuestro as they received the Excellence Award. The norteño-tejano group took the stage to perform a medley of songs alongside Grupo Firme and Pepe Aguilar.

The set kicked off with “Si Me Duele Que Me Duela” featuring Firme. Then, Pepe Aguilar took the stage to join Intocable for a rendition of their collaboration, “No Me Hablen de Amor.”

Christian Nodal & Tini Bring Heat to Premio Lo Nuestro With Passionate ‘Por El Resto de Tu Vida’

On Thursday (Feb. 23), Christian Nodal and Tini transformed Premio Lo Nuestro into a crimson-lit, passion-filled scene with burning candles and fire pits. Together, they sang “Por El Resto de Tu Vida.” Leading with twinkling bolero arpeggio, the mariacheño trailblazer and Argentine pop singer matched hearts as their voices collided to make one of the sweetest of love songs of the year so far.

The scene at the Latin music awards ceremony was spectacular. Nodal first appeared singing the cumbia-mariachi song “Un Cumbión Dolido,” where he sat on a medieval-like center chair and vintage table with chains and fruit on top. He achieved rustic elegance, donning a bronze vest and jeans, with a silk black shirt and his usual cowboy hat and buckle. Tini, on the other hand, looked pristine in white and sheer gloves that sparkled. Together they dazzled. 

Nodal continued to experiment within the confines of regional Mexican music, and Tini was a great singing partner to enhance that sound.

“These are my first nominations,” she told Billboard on the magenta carpet. “I feel that we’re all winners already because we’re all representing our culture and country, demonstrating that the woman is very powerful.”

On the carpet, she also revealed she will be hitting the road again this year with her “Popola Presidente” tour, where she will be visiting many countries for the first time, such as Argentina and Chile. Victor Manuelle Honored With Lifetime Achievement Award at 2023 Premio Lo Nuestro

Before receiving his lifetime achievement award at Thursday’s (Feb. 23) Premio Lo Nuestro, Victor Manuelle received a riveting tribute by fellow artists including Gilberto Santa Rosa, Jerry Rivera, Tito Nieves, Noel Schajris and Norberto. All sang a medley of Manuelle’s salsa anthems, including “Tengo Ganas” and “He Tratado.”

“Today, we celebrate the career of a man whom I met 30 years ago when he was a teenager with many dreams,” Santa Rosa said as he presented Manuelle the award. “He approached me asking if he could sing and I remember thinking, that man will be a big deal. 30 years later, we’re celebrating a career that is based on talent. He’s an excellent singer, producer, songwriter. The ones that know him personally also know he’s a great brother, husband and now also grandfather.”

A teary-eyed Manuelle took the stage to give a heartfelt speech: “There are many emotions. First, I’d like to thank the one I think is the best composer, producer, Jesus Christ. Secondly, my family, among them is the man who in 1993 believed in me when no one else did and he produced my first songs, Gilberto Santa Rosa.
