Justice to Release New Album in 2024

Justice is set to release a new album and go on tour in 2024.

In a recent interview, Ed Banger Records boss Pedro Winter (known to many as the producer Busy P) told the French news outlet France Inter that, “I can tell you right now, they will have a new album and a new tour in 2024” in reference to the pair.

While Winter did not provide additional details about the album’s release date or the corresponding live run, all three of Justice’s previous LPs, dating back to their era-defining 2007 debut, Cross, have been released via Ed Banger.

The album will mark the first Justice album featuring new music since 2016, when the French electronic pair — Xavier De Rosnay and Gaspard Augè — dropped Woman, which spent a week on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 154. The album also clocked nine weeks on Hot Dance/Electronic Albums, where it peaked at No. 1 in December of 2016.

In 2018 Justice released Woman Worldwide, a remix album incorporating the pair’s entire catalog that reflected the live shows behind the Woman tour, which included than 30 shows — including festival sets at Coachella, Ultra Music Festival, Sonar, Glastonbury, Primavera Sound and Lollapalooza — across 25 months in 2016 and 2017. The album won the Grammy for best dance/electronic album in 2019.

In 2019, a corresponding tour film, IRIS: a Space Opera by Justice, presented a 60-minute version of the tour performance recorded in an empty space, sans audience. The pair’s Augè also released a solo album in 2021.

Billie Eilish Shares Playful Response to Bikini Photo Showing Off Tattoo

Billie Eilish is getting her tan on. In a new summertime photo shared by a friend on Instagram, the 21-year-old pop star basks in the sun while looking stunning in a designer bikini — showing off an edgy tattoo that usually stays hidden.

The photo was shared on Sunday (June 11) by Eilish’s pal Annabel Zimmer (yes, that Zimmer, as in she’s the daughter of Interstellar composer Hans Zimmer). Wearing a patterned Miaou swimsuit top and black Versace sunglasses with her dark hair slicked back, the “Happier Than Ever” singer looks, well, happier than ever smiling up at the sky.

Right underneath the bikini top, the musician’s “Eilish” tattoo, spelled in jagged black letters, peeks through. In the comments, Eilish left one simple emoji in response to the snap: a monkey emoji playfully covering its eyes (?).

Zimmer also shared another off-duty photo of Eilish a week prior. In a June 5 collection of Instagram captures, the Grammy winner cuddles with an orange cat, not realizing that her photo is being taken.

It’s good to see Eilish with a big smile on her face, especially after the star faced a number of comments criticizing her appearance last month. As expected, those people earned a characteristically blunt response from Eilish: “suck my absolute c— and balls you women hating a– weirdos,” she wrote on Instagram Stories at the time.

The “Bad Guy” musician also recently went through a breakup, splitting from The Neighbourhood’s Jesse Rutherford after dating for seven months. A rep confirmed the separation in May, adding that the two “remain good friends” and “all cheating rumors are false.”

The 1975 Announce Dates for 2023 Fall/Winter N. American Tour

The 1975 announced the dates for their biggest North American tour to date on Tuesday (June 13), a 32-stop outing they’ve dubbed “Still… at their very best.” The fall arena outing continues the tour that has taken the Matty Healy-led band across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand in support of the group’s fifth studio album, last year’s Being Funny in a Foreign Language.

After playing late August/September festival gigs at Lollapalooza (August 4), Outside Lands (August 13), Music Midtown (Sept. 16) and Life Is Beautiful (Sept. 22), the North American dates will kick off on Sept. 26 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. The tour will take them to San Diego, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, Minneapolis, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Boston and New York (at Madison Square Garden) before winding down on Dec. 2 at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.

Tickets will go be available in an exclusive fan presale beginning on June 21st at 10 a.m. local time before the general on-sale starts on June 23 at 10 a.m. local time. The band celebrated the announcement of the dates by releasing a new episode of their “A Theatrical Performance of an Intimate Moment” series. In the eight-minute clip, singer Healy wakes up, sucks down some oxygen and makes his bed over a jazz soundtrack before brewing some unnecessarily complicated tea and leaving for his job trimming bonsai trees.

Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena Proves There’s Room for One More in the Lone Star State

Everything may be bigger in Texas, but Dickies Arena in Fort Worth is punching above its weight class.

The 14,000-capacity venue opened in 2019 amid a competitive Texas market. With the 20,000-capacity American Airlines Center less than 40 miles east and the San Antonio, Austin and Houston markets reachable within a few hours, the region is saturated with large venues to book big names. Still, Dickies Arena has managed to stand out as a major contender in its first full year of shows following the COVID-19 pandemic, ranking at No. 2 on Billboard Boxscore’s Top Venues (10,001-15,000 capacity) chart for the 2023 midyear report.

In the report, which is based on the touring period of Nov. 1, 2022-April 30, 2023, Dickies Arena grossed $40.1 million from 79 reported shows. Compared with the same period last year, as the touring business was still coming out of the pandemic, the venue nearly tripled the number of tickets sold (from 209,000 to 610,000) and grossed almost four times as much (up from $11.6 million). Even beyond its capacity limit, Dickies Arena out-grossed all but six venues in the 15,001-plus range, including American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Midyear Boxscores, Top Venues

Midyear Boxscore charts are based on figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. Eligible shows played between Nov. 1, 2022 and April 30, 2023.

“If you look at entertainment, there wasn’t really much on this side of the [Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex],” says Dickies Arena president/GM Matt Homan, who notes that the drive between arenas can reach up to an hour-and-a-half with traffic. “What we’ve proven is that the market is large enough for American Airlines Center and Dickies Arena.”

While American Airlines Center is the larger of the two Metroplex arenas, the venue also has two home tenants (NBA team Dallas Mavericks and the NHL’s Dallas Stars) that occupy several dates on the calendar. Dickies Arena, however, only has the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, which runs from January to the first week of February, when concerts tend to be space. This year’s event brought in over $9 million from its 25 performances.

The Dickies Arena’s arrival and success run parallel to the city’s growing population. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2022, Fort Worth had the largest numeric population gain of any large city in the United States, with 19,170 people joining its population of roughly 1 million — and the venue is focused on catering to the city’s varying interests. Country music is naturally a good fit for the arena, with two sellouts from George Strait ($9.9 million) in November marking its highest-grossing run of the midyear report, with two more scheduled for later this year. “It’s a great experience for fans to see [Strait] in such an intimate venue,” says Homan, “you’re not going to a baseball stadium with 60,000 or 40,000-plus seats, which we all know George could sell out in a heartbeat.”

Beyond country, the Dickies Arena’s Boxscore totals also included shows from the Eagles, Muse, New Edition and K-pop group Stray Kids, the lattermost moving more than $2.5 million in tickets sold. “Our K-pop merch sales have been great,” says Homan. “Our merch numbers are generally amongst the top three to five on the tour, based on numbers I’ve seen recently.”  Rauw Alejandro’s sold-out show in April, which grossed over $1.5 million, was also the start of Homan’s focus on the Latin market. “Going into this year, the [Latin market] was my highest priority,” he says. The arena will welcome Peso Pluma, Banda MS, Christian Nodal and Grupo Frontera in 2023. “We’re starting to finally dip our toes into those markets. We want to make sure that we have something here for everyone and that we’re really representing the major city that we are.”

Hot 100 First-Timers: Roisee Arrives With Metro Boomin & A$AP Rocky Collab ‘Am I Dreaming’

The song appears on Metro Boomin’s soundtrack to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which was released – along with the film in theaters – June 2. (The set is fully titled Metro Boomin Presents Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.) The track tallied 9.3 million official streams and 2,000 downloads sold in the United States in its opening week, according to Luminate.

The LP debuts at No. 1 on the Soundtracks chart, No. 2 on Top Rap Albums and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and No. 7 on the Billboard 200 with 66,000 equivalent album units earned.

(The Sony Animation film opened to more than $120 million and added an estimated $55.4 million for a 10-day domestic tally of $225.4 million — already more than the $190.4 million earned by 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in its entire domestic run. Overseas, the new release earned another $47 million for a foreign cume of $164.5 million and $389.9 million worldwide, also ahead of the first film.)

“Am I Dreaming” (the second song on the soundtrack) isn’t just Roisee’s first Hot 100 hit, but also her first entry on any Billboard chart. It concurrently opens at No. 11 on Hot Rap Songs and No. 17 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (which use the same methodology as the Hot 100) and No. 32 on both Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales. Roisee herself also debuts at No. 25 on the Emerging Artists chart.

The St. Louis native has released several songs previously. She dropped her first track, “Yet Again,” on streaming services in 2017. In 2019, she released her debut LP, Summon the Roisee, via her own Roisee Music Group. On March 17, she served up a five-track EP titled Not for Nothing.

Anita Baker Says She’s Going It Alone on ‘Songstress’ Tour After Alleged Babyface Fan Harassment

Anita Baker has had it. After going on a tweet spree over the past few days decrying the harassment she said she’s been receiving from Babyface’s fans, the “Caught Up in the Rapture” singer announced on Tuesday morning (June 13) that she’s had it.

“After Silently, Enduring Cyber Bulling/Verbal Abuse & Threats of Violence from the Fan Base, of Our Special Guest/Support Act. In the Interest of Personal Safety. I will continue, The Songstress Tour, alone. Appropriate refunds will be made. Blessings,” Baker wrote alongside a new tour poster that doesn’t feature her former opener’s name on it.

The tour celebrating Baker’s four decades in the music business that kicked off in Florida in February — and is slated to run through a Dec. 23 show at Oakland Arena — had featured opening support sets from singer/songwriter/producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. But after Edmonds was unexpectedly cut from a May 10 show at the Prudential Center in New Jersey due to reported technical issues that pushed that night’s start time by two hours, she said his fans have been relentlessly harassing and trolling her.

“I am truly sorry to my fans who have been waiting for us to hit the stage this evening at the Prudential Center,” Babyface wrote at the time. “I was asked not to perform in order to give Ms. Baker her space and time to perform her show in its entirety. My band an I are extremely saddened we didn’t get to perform for y’all tonight.”

In the series of tweets last weekend that stretched into the weekend and then Monday, Baker made it crystal clear that Edmonds was always the opening act and that she is fed up with the alleged taunting from his fans. Dubbing his followers “Kenny’s Crazies,” on Monday Baker made a direct plea to Babyface to stop the madness.

“Dearest one. You are Not, privy to *The Contracts*. Yes, Babyface is Special Guest/Support Act, on My Tour,” she tweeted. “This False Narrative, of A Co-headliner is creating Unrealistic Expectations & Aggression, from his fans towards me. He should tell you guys, the Truth.”

At press time it did not appear that Babyface had reacted to Baker’s tweets and a spokesperson for the singer had not returned a request for comment.

Baker’s tour is a celebration of 40 years in music and the anniversary of her debut album, 1983’s The Songstress. The dates also mark the first time the Ohio native is performing her classics live since winning back the right of her masters in 2021 with the help of Chance the Rapper. The next scheduled date on the tour is June 30 at the United Center in Chicago.

Rock Still Rules Touring, But Latin Is Gaining Fast

Take a look at Bad Bunny’s recent tour history, and you get a good sense of Latin’s rapid growth on the road.

When Billboard published the 2019 Midyear Boxscore Recap, Bad Bunny missed out on the then-10-position Top Tours ranking, scraping the bottom of the top 30 with $25.8 million, according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. In doing so, he scored the biggest Latin tour of the tracking period, covering shows between Nov. 1, 2018, and April 30, 2019.

Three years later, following the COVID-19 pandemic, Bad Bunny took himself – and his genre – to the top. He crowned the all-genre list in 2022, earning $123 million in the same November-April six-month window – the first time a Latin act has ever topped the ranking.

Midyear Boxscores, Latin Tours

Midyear Boxscore charts are based on figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. Eligible shows played between Nov. 1, 2022 and April 30, 2023.

Now, Bad Bunny is in the midyear top 10 again in 2023 at No. 6 with $67.9 million, and he’s not alone. At No. 5, Daddy Yankee earned $72.5 million, marking the first time that two Latin artists have landed in the midyear top 10.

The top 10 Latin tours grossed a combined $295.1 million between November and April. That represents growth of 18.83% from last year, after already improving 101% from 2019.

While Bad Bunny and Daddy Yankee lead that growth with the three biggest Latin tours in Boxscore history, it doesn’t stop with the genre’s top headliners. See below to watch how the biggest Latin tours of the midyear reporting period have grown uniformly since 2019.

Boxscore, Midyear Latin Tours

Each of the top 10 Latin tours is up — in both gross and attendance — from last year and 2019. This across-the-board growth applies to heritage stars such as Marc Anthony ($22.4 million) and Wisin y Yandel ($15.3 million) as well as newer headliners including Rauw Alejandro ($33.3 million) and Feid ($11.9 million).

Beyond the genre’s 19% growth in top-10 revenue, those shows’ attendance has grown by 48% as well. While last (mid)year’s biggest Latin tour (Bad Bunny) outgrossed this year’s (Daddy Yankee) by more than $50 million, the latter sold more than 100,000 tickets more than the former. Total attendance among the top 10 is 3.1 million, up from 2.1 million last year.

Beyond Latin, attendance is growing in R&B/hip-hop, pop and rock as well – which are up 44%, 43% and 16%, respectively. Despite the smaller bump, Rock remains No. 1 in both gross and attendance, with $539.1 million and 4.1 million tickets among its top 10 tours on the midyear recap.

Midyear Boxscores, Rock Tours

Midyear Boxscores, Pop Tours

Pop follows with $419.7 million and 3.8 million tickets. Further illustrating Latin’s gains, in 2019 the genre’s gross sales trailed pop by $350 million. This year, that lead has shrunk to $125 million.

Arena dates are on deck for Rauw Alejandro, Anuel AA and others for the rest of the year, while Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin and Pitbull will team for a tri-headline tour this fall. Karol G will play in select U.S. stadiums later this year, leveling up to unprecedented heights for Colombian acts.

As the genre’s biggest acts get bigger, its focus will grow wider as some of the biggest names in regional Mexican music join reggaeton and Latin-pop stars on the Boxscore charts. Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma will separately enter the domestic arena circuit this year while their No. 1 duet continues to dominate Billboard’s global charts.

Olivia Rodrigo Announces New Single ‘Vampire’: Here’s When It Arrives

Olivia Rodrigo is coming back with a bite. At long last, the 20-year-old pop star has finally unveiled details about her first project since her 2021 multi-platinum debut Sour — a single titled “Vampire,” arriving later this month.

“my new song vampire is out june 30th!” Rodrigo wrote on Instagram Tuesday (June 13). “you can presave now. so excited for this ahhhhh!!!!!!! ????❤️”

The “Deja Vu” singer also shared the single’s cover art, which shows a close-up black-and-white photo of Rodrigo’s side profile. She sports dark lipstick, winged eyeliner and two Band-Aids forming a cross on her neck, signifying the location of a vampire-fang puncture wound. The bandages are edited to be the only part of the photo that’s in-color, a lilac purple shade that matches the cover of Sour.

The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series actress also posted a slightly longer note on her website, where the digital single is available for pre-save and physical copies are available for pre-order.

“Hi guys!” the note reads. “Im so excited to announce that my new single ‘vampire’ is coming out June 30th!… so excited for this new chapter. thank you so much for all your support. love always, Liv.”

Both the CD and vinyl — which is tinted a bright blood red — include “Vampire” as well as the track’s first demo, according to Rodrigo’s online store. Also on the store, the cover art boasts a Parental Advisory: Explicit Content sticker.

Fans have suspected for weeks that Rodrigo’s highly anticipated next move would be set into motion on June 30, especially after a mysterious timer counting down to that date appeared on her website. The expiration date on her “drivers license” Spotify graphic was also altered recently to read “6-30.”

“Vampire” will serve as Rodrigo’s followup to her record-breaking debut effort Sour, which featured two Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits (“Drivers License” and “Good 4 U”). In June last year, the album became the longest-running debut record this century to remain in the Billboard 200 top 10 at more than 52 weeks.

“By focusing on intimate storytelling, crafting iconic choruses, and effortlessly building a passionate fandom, Rodrigo has ascended to the very pinnacle of pop,” reads a press release for “Vampire.” “Her music has become an integral part of this era’s soundtrack. With ‘vampire,’ she is poised to begin an exciting new chapter.”

BTS Celebrates 10th Anniversary With ‘Take Two’ Live Performance: Watch

Multiplatinum-selling Grammy-nominated K-pop phenomenon BTS is celebrating its tenth anniversary, and to commemorate the milestone, the Bangtan Boys on Tuesday (June 13) gifted fans a live performance music video for their latest single “Take Two,” which they released last week (June 9) in celebration of their anniversary.

Decked out in a fashionable collection of pastel sweaters and jackets, BTS delivered a heartfelt rendition of “Take Two” that emphasized their chemistry as bandmates as well as their collective vocal ability. In the music video, the group alternated between sitting and standing in front of a wall cast in gorgeous purple light, the group’s signature color. “Need you here tonight/ Oh, we young forever,” Jung Kook crooned in the song’s outro.

BTS also treated fans to individual “focus” clips that feature cropped footage specifically highlighting each of the group’s seven members.

“Take Two” serves as BTS’ second musical release of the year; on May 12, the boys released “The Planet,” a single for the Bastions soundtrack. “Take Two” is just one part of a massive celebration to commemorate BTS’ longevity. The BTS 10th Anniversary FESTA will kick off on June 17 in Seoul, South Korea. The event, which will be open to the public and held on Yeouido, is set to turn the entire country purple — from Dongdaemun Design Plaza to the Lotte World Tower.

Since the group’s arrival on the music scene a decade ago, BTS has become a dominant musical act. They have earned six No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including the Grammy-nominated singles “Dynamite” and “Butter.” On the Billboard 200, the group has scored six No. 1 titles in just five years.
