Taylor Swift Is Top Artist, Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers’ Is Top Song in iHeartRadio’s 2023 ‘iHeartRewind’

Taylor Swift comes out on top once again, this time taking honors as iHeartRadio’s most popular artist of the year.

Swift leads the iHeartRewind year-end artist chart by raking in more than 2.8 billion plays on iHeartRadio stations nationwide and the branded app.

The pop superstar’s margin of victory is a sizable one; she collected 500,000 more spins than second-place SZA (2.3 billion-plus), while Morgan Wallen completes the podium at No. 3 (2.1 billion-plus).

Miley Cyrus comes in at No. 5 on the Top Overall Artists 2023 Nationwide tally with 1.87 billion-plus plays, though she can boast iHeartRadio’s biggest hit of the year with “Flowers.”

After dominating the Billboard Hot 100 in 2023 with an eight-week stretch at No. 1, “Flowers” leads iHeartRewind’s Overall Songs 2023 Nationwide list, ahead of “Creepin’” by Metro Boomin featuring The Weeknd & 21 Savage (1.3 billion-plus) and “Calm Down” by Rema and Selena Gomez (1.2 billion-plus), respectively.

A closer look at both charts shows a strong correlation, with Swift, Cyrus, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, SZA, Wallen and Metro Boomin doubling up.

The iHeartRewind crown is just one in a growing collection for Swift. On Nov. 29, she was named Spotify’s most streamed artist of 2023, pulling more than 26.1 billion streams on the platform worldwide.

And earlier in November, Swift reigned over Billboard’s 2023 year-end Top Artists chart, following her supremacy across both the Billboard 200 albums and Hot 100 songs chart.

The iHeartRewind charts are compiled using total audience spins (TAS), and its top artists and songs tallies are broken down into categories (overall, pop, country, hip-hop, alternative and R&B), and along lines of top songs/stations/podcasts by generation, season and state.

The TAS calculation is based on certified Mediabase airplay and multiplied by the number of radio listeners at the time of those plays, for a total audience impression which is the broadcast equivalent of the number of streams from a DSP.

“Ooooh, who they came to see?” a swath of voices demands, as Beyoncé new surprise single “My House” begins. The answer, of course, is Queen Bey: to cap off a year marked by a mega-selling world tour, and on the occasion of her concert documentary Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé hitting theaters, the superstar has gifted fans with a propulsive thank-you that’s both assertive and inviting. “My House” bottles the boisterous energy of last year’s Renaissance album, but Bey’s delivery comes closer to the roof-rattling rap-sing sneer of a song like “7/11,” allowing the song’s structure shape-shift around her but never letting the listener forget whose house it is.

Tyla, “Truth or Dare” 



In the same week that Tyla’s invigorating single “Water” hit the top 10 of the Hot 100 and the South African star announced the upcoming release of a self-titled debut album, she also tided fans over for the 2024 full-length with three new songs, highlighted by the effervescent anthem “Truth or Dare.” As “Water” demonstrated, Tyla knows precisely how to deploy a clipped, arresting hook — and when the refrain of “Truth or Dare” kicks in around the 1 minute 15 second mark, the song levitates, and begs to be placed in several of your playlists.

Jung Kook feat. Usher, “Standing Next to You” remix 



“Standing Next to You” sounds like a smash, from an artist who knows about such things: a centerpiece of Jung Kook’s recent album Golden, the stylish dance-pop track synthesizes the sleek hooks of his BTS work and pairs them with Jung Kook’s engrossing persona and vocal power. The song peaked at No. 5 on the Hot 100 upon its release, but this new remix with Usher, which introduces a legendary hit-maker to its disco-bounce ecosystem, could sustain an extended chart run; there’s probably not enough time for Ursh to bust this one out during his upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance, but you never know, right?

Dove Cameron, Alchemical: Volume 1 



Dove Cameron has said that Alchemical: Volume 1, the first half of her debut album, represents “a report from the void of my own personal experience with love, sex, loss, trauma, darkness and eventually transformation and healing,” a declaration that reaffirms the “Boyfriend” singer’s commitment to approaching pop beyond radio fodder. While Alchemical: Volume 1 includes Cameron’s previously released singles, but new tracks like the haunting “God’s Game” and the head-nodding “White Glove” suggest that the rising star’s self-exploration will contain unexpected sonic multitudes when fully realized.

ATEEZ, THE WORLD EP.FIN : WILL 



As ATEEZ closes the book on a year of sprawling shows and kinetic performances, THE WORLD EP.FIN : WILL captures the K-pop group’s ability to never let its audience’s attention flag for even a few seconds: every inch of the album is filled with percussive breakdowns, rap verses springing into melodic hooks and cleanly delivered interplay between the various group members. The Weeknd Donating 4 Million Emergency Meals to Gaza Through His XO Humanitarian Fund

The United Nations World Food Programme announced on Friday (Dec. 1) that WFP Goodwill Ambassador The Weeknd (who now goes by his birth name, Abel Tesfaye) has directed $2.5 million from his XO Humanitarian Fund to aid the WFP’s humanitarian response in Gaza.

The organization said that the donation — equal to four million emergency meals — will fund the delivery of 820 metric tons (approx. 1.8 million pounds) of food parcels that could feed more than 173,000 Palestinians for two weeks.

“This conflict has unleashed a humanitarian catastrophe beyond reckoning. WFP is working round the clock to provide aid in Gaza but a major scale up is needed to address the desperate level of hunger we are seeing,” said WFP’s Director for the Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe Region, Corinne Fleischer in a statement about the rush to provide aid in Gaza. The crisis is a result of weeks of heavy bombardment from Israeli forces in response to Palestinian terror group Hamas’ surprise Oct. 7 attack on Israel that resulted in the murder of more than 1,200 Israelis and the kidnapping of 240 women, children, men and elderly citizens.

“Our teams need safe and sustained humanitarian access, and continued support from donors to reach as many people as we can,” Fleischer continued. “We thank Abel for this valuable contribution towards the people of Palestine. We hope others will follow Abel’s example and support our efforts.”

The WFP said the donation from Tesfaye comes at a critical time in the group’s efforts to feed the more than one million Gazans facing starvation. During the just-expired week-long truce between Israel and Hamas the WFP said it reached more than 121,000 people in Gaza, providing fresh bread, fortified date bars, canned food, wheat flour, pasta, tomato sauce and oil.

Tesfaye was appointed a Goodwill Ambassador in Oct. 2021 and has supported the WFP’s global hunger-relief missions with $1.8 million in personal donations to date through his XO fund; the singer has committed to dedicate the equivalent of $1 per concert ticket sold in 2024 from the global leg of his After Hours ’til Dawn stadium tour to the XO Humanitarian Fund.

Rolling Stones Love it Live, Announce Deluxe Edition of ‘Hackney Diamonds’ Featuring N.Y. Club Performance

When you’re the greatest live rock band to ever do it, you clearly give the people what they want. So it’s no surprise that the Rolling Stones are releasing a live deluxe edition of their new Hackney Diamonds album.

The refreshed version will feature seven songs recorded live at the band’s surprise show at New York’s intimate Racket club on Oct. 19 as part of the launch for their 24th studio album. The brief set memorably featured such classics as “Shattered,” “Tumbling Dice” and “Jumping Jack Flash,” as well as the live debut of the soul blues burner “Sweet Sounds of Heaven,” complete with a cameo from the track’s guest, Lady Gaga.

The double-disc set — which will ship on Jan. 19 — will also spotlight the Hackney tracks “Angry,” “Whole Wide World” and “Bite My Head Off.” The group has also just released a lyric video for the latter song, which features additional vocals from Paul McCartney.

Speaking of live, the Stones are gearing up for a Hackney Diamonds U.S. stadium tour in 2024, which will kick off on April 28 with a show at NRG Stadium in Houston, TX and include a stop at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (May 2), as well as shows in Las Vegas, Seattle, two gigs at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ and stops in Orlando, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago, Vancouver and Los Angeles before winding up with a July 17 gig at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.

Jennifer Lopez on Importance of Making Movies For & About Women: ‘People Have Realized That Women Just Get Sexier as They Get Older’

Jennifer Lopez has a golden nugget of truth to share with an entertainment business forever focused on the new young thing: getting older is sexy, too. Maybe even, sexier.

“As you get older and you have more experience, you become a richer human being and you have more to offer,” Lopez, 54, told Elle magazine. “The idea of, ‘There’s nothing really valuable about watching a woman over 30’ is so ridiculous, it’s the opposite of right. It just makes me laugh.”

In fact, Lopez said, “People have realized that women just get sexier as they get older. They get more learned and more rich with character. All of that is very beautiful and attractive, and not just physically, but on the inside, the beauty that you gain as you get older, the wisdom you gain.”

Lopez is gearing up to release her long-awaited ninth studio album, This Is Me… Now (Feb. 16), her first full-length release in nearly a decade and a companion album of sorts to 2022’s This Is Me… Then. The multi-hyphenate star executive produced the collection with Rogét Chayed, Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman and HitBoy and she’ll pair it with the Dave Meyers-directed This Is Me… Now: The Film, which will air on Prime Video in more than 240 countries.

It’s a full-court press of projects from the star, who told the magazine that she sees herself working as long as she wants to, regardless of age. “I don’t know what that age is. It might be 70, it might be 80, it might be 90, I don’t know,” she said. l”But I know that it’s there for me if I want it and I want to create it. That has always been the mindset that I’ve had: to never let anybody put me in a box because of where I was born, where I’m from, what age I am, anything like that. Those boundaries don’t exist for me.”

Lopez — whose Nuyorican Productions shingle has been behind films such as Hustlers and The Mother — also explained why it’s important for her to make projects for and about women. “You want to make great movies, at the end of the day. You want to make great television. And that should hit everybody. But at the same time, telling stories from a woman’s point of view does draw more of a [female] audience, or they relate to it more, or they get more fanatical about it and obsessed with it because they can feel that it’s not from the male gaze,” she said.

“With all the great women producers, directors, and actors who are taking more control of their careers and creating their own material, we’re in a very exciting time for women in Hollywood,” she added. “We’re not just on the corners of life or on the outside of the stories. We are the stories.”

For that reason, Lopez said that one of the key lessons she’s learned over the years is that women have to take ownership and can’t wait around for other people to hand them roles, while acknowledging that taking charge is crucial to getting things done. “A lot of actresses right now, they produce their own movies and develop their own material, and I think that’s key as well,” she said.

Taylor Swift Dominates Australia’s Albums Chart

Taylor Swift enters the home straight of 2023 in a familiar place – at No. 1 on Australia’s albums chart.

The most popular artist of the year on Spotify, TayTay enters a fifth week atop the ARIA Chart with 1989 (Taylor’s Version) (via Universal), and completes a “Swift Sweep” of the top four with Midnights (up 5-2), Folklore (up 6-3) and Lover (up 10-4), respectively. Swift collects two more top 10 appearances, as Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) climbs 15-8 and Reputation lifts 12-9.

At times this year, Swift has dominated the tally like no one else. In July, she completed an unprecedented sweep of the top 5. The following week, she replaced herself at No. 1, becoming the first artist to do so since the ARIA Charts began in 1983.

Christmas is nearly upon us, proof of which can be seen on the ARIA Charts. A raft of Christmas-themed albums storm the tallies, including Jimmy Barnes’ Blue Christmas (reentering at No. 14 via Bloodlines/ Universal), Michael Buble’s two-time diamond certified Christmas (up 92-45 via Reprise/Warner) and Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas (Columbia/Sony) enters at No. 74.

Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” returns at No. 15. The modern yuletide favorite peaked at No. 2 following its release in 1994, and finally went to No. 1 in 2018 — returning to the summit Christmas every year since for a total of seven combined weeks, ARIA reports.

Also marching into the ARIA Chart, published Friday, Dec. 1, is Wham’s “Last Christmas” (Sony), reentering at No. 30, and Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” (Warner/Universal) returns at No. 42.

At the pointy end of the ARIA Singles Chart, is Jack Harlow’s “Lovin On Me” (Atlantic/Warner), now in its third week at the top, marking the Louisville rapper’s longest-running leader in Australia.

Finally, Ocean Alley’s “Confidence” continues to flow, after the 2018 release went viral on TikTok. “Confidence” returned to the top 40 last week at No. 40, and rises to No. 16. Now, more than five years after its release, “Confidence” is the best-seller on the Australian Singles Chart. Independently-released, with distribution through the Orchard, “Confidence” originally peaked at No. 9 on the ARIA Chart and went on to win triple j’s Hottest 100 countdown in January 2019.

7 Best Moments of ‘Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé’

It’s finally here! After weeks of waiting, two premieres (one in L.A. and one in London), and three trailers, Beyoncé‘s highly-anticipated concert documentary, Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, has hit theatres at long last.

The film provides a rare peek into Beyoncé’s behind-the-scenes process, namely how she runs her ship as the Mother of the House of Renaissance. Over nearly three hours, the documentary treats fans to pristine footage of several nights of the superstar’s record-breaking Renaissance World Tour. Seamless edits showcase the endless variety of haute couture costumes the “Break My Soul” singer flaunted across her 56 sold-out shows, and intimate black-and-white scenes present the Beyoncé her family sees offstage.

Written, directed and produced by Beyoncé herself, the film — which is evenly split between the concert (just about every track made the final cut) and behind-the-scenes footage — is as much about the enigmatic artistic genius as it is about community — the various intersecting communities that crafted the album and tour, enjoyed the music at the concerts, and inspired the throughlines of Black queer liberation that course through Queen Bey’s most recent musical era.

Nearly all of the tour’s special guests — Blue Ivy Carter, Megan Thee Stallion, Kendrick Lamar, Diana Ross, among them — make cameos in the film, alongside Beyoncé’s family (including JAY-Z, Ms. Tina Knowles and twins Rumi and Sir Carter!) and former Destiny’s Child bandmates Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson.

Even though we’re over a year removed from the release of Renaissance, it’s a body of work that continues to resonant deeply. The album ranked atop the 2023 Year-End Dance/Electronic Albums chart, and the tour helped Beyoncé earn the biggest touring year in Billboard Boxscore history ($570.5 million), making her No. 1 on the Year-End Billboard Boxscore Top Tours chart.

Set to a cracking trap beat and bold, brassy tones, “My House” (via Parkwood Entertainment/Columbia) is both an early Christmas present, and a gift from the superstar U.S. singer to kick-off the opening weekend of her Renaissance concert film.

The tune comes with a parental warning for its “explicit lyrics”. On it, she sings, “I will always love you, but I’ll never expect you to love me when you don’t love yourself/ Let’s heal the world one beautiful action at the time/ This is real love.”

Terius “The-Dream” Gesteelde-Diamant contributes lyrics and production to “My House,” Bey’s first solo release since Beyonce’s hit seventh studio album Renaissance arrived in July 2022.

Arriving at the stroke of midnight, “My House” is accompanied with eye-catching artwork, with Queen Bey front and center, donning dark shades and a futuristic chrome helmet and top combo.

Ten years ago to the month, Bey dropped her self-titled fifth studio album without notice. Many have since copied the strategy, though few have replicated the success of Beyonce, which led the Billboard 200 for three weeks and is one of her seven leaders on the chart.

Bey continues to have it her own way. She bagged the year’s top-grossing tour, with Renaissance World Tour, which grossed $579.8 million and sold 2.8 million tickets, according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore between May 10 and Oct. 1.

Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé is expected to put up impressive numbers.

On what is typically a slow post-Thanksgiving period, the movie is aiming for a $30-$40 million global opening, Deadline reports.

Distributed by AMC, the Renaissance movie is booked into 2,539 theaters domestically and another 2,780 abroad in 94 territories, with U.S. previews beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday (Nov. 30) before settling into a Thursday-Sunday schedule. Beyonce directs the two-and-a-half-hour flick.

The Fifth Harmony bandmates gift wrap “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” following on the heels of Brooke’s recently-released four-track holiday EP Under The Tree, which includes the title track, an original song.

Ally and Dinah made the collaboration announcement by way of their socials earlier in the week.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be back together with my former Fifth Harmony mate Dinah,” Ally enthuses in a statement. “There are no words to explain how it feels to be reunited with our collaboration. We hope to bring lots of happiness to our fans and the world with our reunion.”

Christmas is, of course, a time for family. And this Xmas cut represents the first time any of the former 5H bandmates have collaborated since the pop group went on hiatus in 2018.

Formed on The X Factor in 2012 with the lineup of Brooke, Jane, Normani, Lauren Jauregui, and Camila Cabello, the group went on to land four top 10 titles on the Billboard 200 chart, and earned a top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Work From Home” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, peaking at No. 4 in 2016.

“Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” comes years after Fifth Harmony disbanded, at the time reduced to a four-piece when Cabello left.

Jane presents the new song as a special gift to long-suffering Harmonizers.

“There’s a special type of joyous spirit that Christmas brings us all,” she comments. “This holiday season, I’m grateful for this healing union that has brought my good ole sister Ally Brooke and I together through music”.

“May this song encourage you to embrace love, forgiveness, and bring comfort to all,” concludes Dinah. “I pray that this song may connect souls to our dear Savior as His love is the reason for all seasons.”

Coldplay Set to Break Records With Expanded Stadium Tour Down Under

When Coldplay’s world tour heads to Australia and New Zealand in 2024, the Brits will go where no band has gone before.

Coldplay’s tour Down Under expands with the addition of six new stadium dates across Melbourne (Marvel Stadium), Sydney (Accord Stadium) and Auckland (Eden Park), for a total of 11 trans-Tasman shows.

With the addition of two dates at Eden Park, Chris Martin and Co. become the first act to play three nights at the Auckland venue, the nation’s home of rugby, and biggest stadium, whose history dates back 123 years.

As it stands, Coldplay will now perform four shows in Sydney and Melbourne, and three in Auckland, the most populous cities in both markets.

According to Live Nation, which is producing the lap of ANZ, Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour has enjoyed “unprecedented demand for tickets” during the pre-sale period.

Interest for the shows were pumped by a pair of concerts last month at Perth’s Optus Stadium – marking the group’s return to Western Australia for the first time since 2009. Coldplay last played Australia’s east coast and NZ back in 2016.

The pop-rock outfit is a legitimate heavyweight in these parts, with 2022’s Music Of The Spheres blasting to No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, for the group’s seventh leader. They’ve previously led the national chart with A Rush Of Blood To The Head (September 2002), X&Y (June 2005), Viva La Vida (June 2008), Mylo Xyloto (October 2011), Ghost Stories (May 2014) and Everyday Life (December 2019).

The Music Of The Spheres World Tour is already in the history books. Since it kicked off date in March 2022, the trek has notched more than 9 million tickets. Recently, the band strolled into Billboard Boxscore history, following the Rolling Stones to become just the second artist to score a half-billion double-up in the top 10 of all-time highest-grossing tours, when their current tour crossed the $500 million mark.
