Lil Nas X Is Down Bad on Sweltering New Single ‘Need Dat Boy’: Stream It Now

Is this a desert in the middle of August? Because Lil Nas X is thirsty on his latest single.

On Friday (Nov. 22), the “Old Town Road” singer shared his latest single “Need Dat Boy,” a rapid-paced, heart-racing new single that sees him chasing down a potential lover and explaining, in no uncertain terms, all of the things he’d like to do to him. Over a skittering drum beat, Lil Nas switches effortlessly between rapping and singing as he gives the titular guy plenty of reasons to stick around.

“Need Dat Boy” is Lil Nas’ second release in two weeks, following his latest, house-inspired new song “Light Again,” which he dropped last Friday (Nov. 15). Both tracks appear on Lil Nas’ forthcoming second studio album Dreamboy, which Nas began teasing in earnest over the last week.

In an album trailer shared to his social media accounts last week, Lil Nas introduced fans to the album’s titular character, as the motorcycle-helmeted “Dreamboy” descended from the clouds and promised the singer that he would remind him of “who you are.” In a subsequent trailer released last week, the character shows Lil Nas video clips from his past. “You are everything. And now that you remember that, you’re ready,” Dreamboy says. “Your next world awaits you.”

The news also comes as Shaboozey comes within just one week of Lil Nas X’s long-standing record for the longest-running No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Old Town Road.” Should the country singer’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” last for one more week at the top of the chart, he will ties Lil Nas & Billy Ray Cyrus’ 19-week record at the summit.

But Lil Nas made sure to clarify that there is no hard feelings if Shaboozey does surpass his record. When the country star surpassed the rapper’s record for the longest running No. 1 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart, Nas congratulated him, saying “it was a good run ! the horses are officially actually in the back now!”

Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson & Jordan Mailata Celebrate the Holiday Season With ‘A Philly Special Christmas Party’ Album: Stream It Now

Deck the halls with boughs of holly, because A Philly Special Christmas Party officially arrived on Friday (Nov. 22)  via Vera Y Records.

The project from The Philly Specials, a.k.a Jason Kelce and the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive tackles Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata, marks the group’s third charitable holiday album. The festive set of tracks features the previously released collaboration with Jason, his brother Travis Kelce and Boyz II Men, “It’s Christmastime (In Cleveland Heights).” It also includes Jason’s team-up with Stevie Nicks on the cover of Ron Sexsmith’s “Maybe This Christmas.”

The 12-song album also features a sweet collaboration between Jason and his wife, Kylie Kelce, called “Loud Little Town,” an original song written by Brandon Beaver. Plus, the project is filled with holiday favorites including “Last Christmas,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Christmas Don’t Be Late,” “Feliz Navidad,” “Sleigh Ride” and more.

Proceeds from the album will be used to fund Operation Snowball, a new and ambitious initiative launched alongside The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia to that aims to give a gift to every student in the Philadelphia public school system. Additionally, The Philly Specials will be donating to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Snowflake Station and the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center Toy Drive. Albums can be purchased here.

Jelly Roll joined the group for an alternate version of “Hurt,” OneRepublic’s lead single from their July project Artificial Paradise. The song and video for the new version of “Hurt” are out now.

OneRepublic teased the collab in a TikTok video with Jelly Roll on Nov. 21, with a caption for the video noting, “We’ve been waiting for this one.” The clip shows OneRepublic lead singer Ryan Tedder sitting in a car, singing “Hurt,” before the camera pans to Jelly Roll in the seat beside Tedder, with Jelly Roll then picking up the song’s next verse.

Artificial Paradise marks OneRepublic’s sixth studio album. They’ve previously released a handful of singles from the project, including “Sunshine,” “Runaway,” David Guetta collab “I Don’t Wanna Wait,” as well as “Nobody,” and “Fire” (featuring Meduza and Leony). To date, OneRepublic has earned four top 10 hits on the all-genre Billboard 100, including 2022’s “I Ain’t Worried,” 2014’s “Counting Stars,” 2011’s “The Good Life,” and their feature on Timbaland’s 2007 hit “Apologize.”

Jelly Roll recently earned his first Billboard 200 album debut with his project Beautifully Broken, which features the hit songs “Liar” and “I Am Not Okay.” He’s earned six No. 1 songs on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and is currently on his headlining The Beautifully Broken Tour, which visits Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 26.

Both OneRepublic and Jelly Roll were both previously on the lineup for the 2023 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour, which made stops at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, Washington, D.C’s Capital One Arena and Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center, among other venues.

“So what’s it gon’ take for you to want me/ I’d give it all up if you told me/ That I’d be the number one girl in your eyes,” the BLACKPINK star sings on the lovestruck chorus, as well as in the accompanying self-directed music video.

“Number One Girl” follows ROSÉ’s recently released collaboration with Bruno Mars, “APT.” The track hit No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, becoming the first song by a Western act to rule the Japan song chart in more than 11 years. The song also spends a fourth week atop both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts.

Both singles will be featured on the K-pop star’s recently announced December 6-slated album rosie. When sharing the news of her first-ever solo LP last month, Rosé wrote: “I have poured my blood and tears into this album. I cannot wait for you to listen to this little journal of mine. Rosie – is the name I allow my friends and family to call me. With this album, I hope you all feel that much closer to me. And yes, it’s a full length album.”

The Piano Fleetwood Mac Used to Write Classic Hits is Heading to Auction

A piano used by members of Fleetwood Mac to compose classic songs such as “Sara” and “Songbird”, before later being played by Freddie Mercury, Elton John, and more, is headed to auction, giving fans a chance to own a piece of musical history.

The piano in question, a Grand Hamilton is available for bidding via Gotta Have Rock and Roll. Bidding is open until Friday, Dec. 16 with a minimum bid of $50,000. Only a handful of bids are expected, it seems, with an estimated sale range of between $100,000 and $200,000.

The instrument is offered for sale by English singer/songwriter Robbie Patton, who first came across the piano when beginning a lifelong friendship with Stevie Nicks in 1975. “One day, I’m in the house of Stevie and she has two pianos, one of them was this black Grand Hamilton Piano where she wrote most of her songs on,” Patton explained. “She wrote everything on the piano, she really cherished it as her own.”

Some of the songs composed on the piano include “Songbird” from the band’s 1977 classic Rumours, and “Sara”, which peaked at No. 7 on the Hot 100 upon its release as the second single from 1979’s Tusk. The piano hit the road that same year, with Patton serving as opening act for the band on their tour.

Christine McVie reportedly used the piano on stage between 1982 and 1983 in support of their Mirage album before it returned to Nicks’ home. The lead single from that album was “Hold Me”, which was co-written by McVie and Patton and peaked at No. 4 on the Hot 100. Patton requested the instrument as payment, where it came into his possession and found some famous players in the process.

“I used to work for all the big musicians, Elton John, for four and a half years,” he explained. “John Reid managed Elton John and then Queen. Freddie Mercury even came by for a recording session and used the piano. Elton John used the piano. The people who have touched this piano are crazy!”

Though it has since been refurbished and lacquered, the listing states that the keys have never changed. It also comes with a letter of authenticity signed by Patton, Nicks, and the late McVie in 2015.

De La Soul ‘Exploring Legal Options’ After Publication of ‘Unauthorized’ Book

Veteran New York City hip-hop outfit De La Soul have denounced a new book about the trio, taking to social media to tell followers they’re “exploring” legal options in the wake of its publication.

The book in question is High And Rising: A Book About De La Soul, published by writer Marcus J. Moore on Tuesday (Nov. 19). Moore, who had previously published The Butterfly Effect: How Kendrick Lamar Ignited the Soul of Black America in 2020 described his decision to write about the group as coming from a desire to talk about “subjects that are somewhat — if not completely — underappreciated in the literary space”.

“The first book about De La Soul, High and Rising shows that De La Soul is Black history, American history, world history, our history,” a synopsis for the book reads. “This is a tale about staying the course, and how holding true to your virtue can lead to dynamic results.”

However, the very subject of the volume have since denounced its publication, with De La Soul noting they “want to make it absolutely clear: this is an unauthorized book, and we are not connected to it in any way.”

“For years, you’ve stood with us in our fight for ownership of our catalog and the right to benefit from the music we created. That same dedication to protecting what’s ours extends to being the ones who tell OUR story—something deeply personal and ‘De La’ to the core,” they wrote. “Our story will be told in our words, in our way, with the style you’ve come to know and love. Until then, we encourage you to indulge in the authentic DA.I.S.Y. Age by supporting projects backed by us.

“If you choose to support this book, that’s your right. We just want it to be clear that we do not and we are exploring all of our legal options. Even within this book’s title, the ‘3’ Is missing which shows how inauthentic it is because for us, ‘3’ will always be the magic number.”

De La Soul’s post closed by noting they’re “cooking up something special for Spring 2025”, with many fans in the comment section requestion they reconsider their decision, and sharing support for Moore and his work.

Formed in 1988, De La Soul quickly rose to fame in 1989 with the release of their debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, which peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 and has since been viewed as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.

The group released their ninth album, And the Anonymous Nobody…, in 2016, peaking at No. 9 and serving as their last record to date. Founding member Trugoy the Dove (aka Dave Jolicoeur) passed away in 2023, just weeks before the trio’s protracted battle to bring their catalog to streaming came to an end.

Michael Bublé’s ‘Christmas’ Returns to Top 40 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart

Michael Bublé’s blockbuster holiday album Christmas returns to the top 40 of the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Nov. 23), zooming from No. 72 to No. 35. Christmas is the first holiday album to reach the top 40 of the Billboard 200 in the current holiday season.

The Nov. 23-dated Billboard 200 chart reflects the tracking week of Nov. 8-14.

Christmas, which was released in 2011 and topped the chart for five weeks in late 2011 and early 2012, has returned to the list’s top 10 in every holiday season following its release.

Last holiday season, Christmas climbed to No. 2 on the Jan. 2, 2024-dated tally, blocked from the top by Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version). Christmas also reached No. 2 on the Jan. 1-8, 2022-dated charts (blocked by Adele’s 30) and on the Jan. 4, 2020 chart (blocked by Harry Styles’ Fine Line).

Since its release, Christmas has earned 7.47 million equivalent album units in the U.S., with traditional album sales comprising 4.7 million of that sum, according to Luminate. The album’s songs — which include covers of traditional tunes like “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” — have generated 3.36 billion on-demand official streams in the U.S.

Bublé’s Christmas is one of nine holiday sets that dot the Nov. 23-dated Billboard 200 chart – a number that’s sure to grow in the march towards Christmas Day on Dec. 25. Trailing Christmas on the latest tally: Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas (rising 93-47), Bing Crosby’s Ultimate Christmas (150-77), Vince Guaraldi Trio’s TV soundtrack to A Charlie Brown Christmas (170-108), Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song (a reentry at No. 111), Frank Sinatra’s Ultimate Christmas (a re-entry at No. 129), the compilation A Christmas Gift for You From Phil Spector (a re-entry at No. 144), Pentatonix’s The Best of Pentatonix Christmas (a re-entry at No. 149) and Andy Williams’ The Andy Williams Christmas Album (a re-entry at No. 188). On the seasonal Top Holiday Albums chart (dated Nov. 23), the titles rank at Nos. 1-9.

Kate Nash Launches ‘Butts 4 Tour Buses’ OnlyFans Campaign to Fund Tour

English musician Kate Nash has announced the launch of a new OnlyFans page to help fund the continuance of her current tour.

The new page is part of a new campaign dubbed ‘Butts 4 Tour Buses’, which launches alongside the first date of the musician’s tour of the U.K. and Europe.

“Whilst touring is the best job EVER it is currently technically what you might call a passion project for a lot of artists in 2024,” Nash explained in a statement. “A recent survey by Pirate Studios found that whilst gig ticket & festival prices are sky rocketing & we are seeing a select few in the industry become millionaires or even billionaires from touring, the majority of musicians and artists are struggling to be able afford to actually play shows.

Nash isn’t the only artist to utilize OnlyFans as a source of supplementary income. In July, fellow English singer Lily Allen launched her own account to sell feet pictures, having explained via her podcast Miss Me? that she was considering the option.

“I have a lady that comes and does my nails,” she told co-host Miquita Oliver. “They informed me that I have five stars on WikiFeet, which is quite rare. My feet are rated quite highly on the internet.”

“She said that I could make a lot of money from selling foot content on OnlyFans,” Allen added. “And I’m like, ‘Not no.’”

Last month, Allen provided an update, noting that the income derived from the new career move had already resulted in the surpassing of the income made by her monthly Spotify streams.

“imagine being and artist and having nearly 8 million monthly listeners on spotify but earning more money from having 1000 people subscribe to pictures of your feet,” Allen wrote on social media.

Allen’s remark came in response to someone who’d negatively commented on a post advertising her OnlyFans account. “Imagine being one of the biggest pop stars/musicians in Europe and then being reduced to this,” the fan wrote, to which the “Smile” singer added: “don’t hate the player, hate the game.”

Lil Baby Graduates From Harvard Business School Program ‘Launching New Ventures’

Entertainers need to be well-versed in business, and rappers like Lil Baby understand that — especially in today’s music industry.

Earlier this year, the Atlanta rapper recently graduated from the Harvard Business School Program “Launching New Ventures” and his family celebrated with a party. A video surfaced online showing Lil Baby attending class and then coming home to a surprise party thrown by his family and friends.

“Launching New Ventures” is a program designed for “entrepreneurs launching their own startup and “executives responsible for jump-starting innovation in established companies.” The website’s subhead reads: “To succeed as an entrepreneur, you need more than just a great idea — you need the right skillset and mindset to execute it. This program prepares you to turn disruptive innovation into a competitive advantage and a profitable business.” The course is in-person, lasts seven days, requires 12-15 hours of pre-program works, and costs $19,000.

Apparently, he’s been going through things in his personal life, as he took to Instagram the night before he made the official announcement saying as much. “Ain’t it crazy how they tryna play me like i ain’t the one!!! It’s that time! I would say again, but this run will be totally different!!” he wrote. “I had the darkest period of my life these last two years, but I stayed down and overcame that sh– now I’m back to f—in sh– up as usual…, Sincerely, Wham!! Who hard as me. Let’s go.”

He’s been keeping busy working, though. Aside from completing this course, he was recently in the studio with Future and Young Thug. Hopefully, that means we’ll be getting the some more new music sooner rather than later.

Here Are the 2024 MAMA Awards Winners: (Updating)

The 2024 MAMA Awards have arrived!

Going into the three-day international K-pop awards ceremony taking place at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre (on Nov. 21) and the Kyoawea Dome in Osaka, Japan (Nov. 22-23), aespa is the leading nominee, racking up eight nods, including multiple recognitions in the night’s “Grand” awards like the Visa Artist of the Year, Visa Song of the Year, and Visa Album of the Year. Following the girl group is JENNIE with seven nominations, with the BLACKPINK star’s solo work earning her recognition in Grand award categories like Artist and Song of the Year.

Acts like Girls’ Generation’s TAEYEON, SEVENTEEN, (G)I-DLE, IVE, LE SSERAFIM, and RIIZE all scored multiple nods across the Grand awards as well.
