Ozuna’s ’OzuTochi’ Launches at No. 5 on Top Latin Albums Chart

Ozuna collects his sixth top 10 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart as his latest full-length, OzuTochi, debuts at No. 5 on the list dated Oct. 22. The set concurrently opens at No. 4 on Latin Rhythm Albums.

OzuTochi begins with 8,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 13, according to Luminate. While most of the album’s first-week total derives from streaming-equivalent album units, 500 stem from traditional sales and track-equivalent units combined.

On the multimetric Top Latin Albums chart as measured in equivalent album units, each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.

The songs on OzuTochi logged 11 million on-demand official streams in its opening week. The 18-track set was released Oct. 7 via Aura/Sony Music Latin and is billed as Ozuna’s fifth studio album as a soloist. The set follows a collaborative release with Anuel AA: Los Dioses, which earned Ozuna his fifth No. 1 on the all-Latin albums tally (February 2021).

Ozuna’s debut effort, Odisea, bowed at No. 1 in September 2017. It held strong at the summit for 46 weeks, tying with Bad Bunny’s X100PRE for the third-most among all acts since Top Latin Albums launched in 1993 (behind Benito’s 70 weeks atop with YHLQMDLG and Gloria Estefan’s Mi Tierra, a total of 58).

In total, of Ozuna’s seven charting efforts on Top Latin Albums, five have reached No. 1 (Odisea, Aura, Nibiru, Enoc and his collaborative set with Anuel AA, Los Dioses).

Back to OzuTochi, as mentioned, the set also starts at No. 4 on Latin Rhythm Albums. As it sends X100PRE to No. 5, it ceases Bad Bunny’s domination of the top four, a feat his endured for 13 consecutive rankings (since the July 23-dated ranking).

OzuTochi was preceded by “Somos Iguales,” a collaborative song with Tokischa, featuring Louchie Lou and Michie One. It hits a new peak of No. 34 on the current multi-metric Hot Latin Songs chart. The pair’s first joint track samples Louchie Lou and Michie One’s 1993 tune “Rich Girl.” The new Caribbean-rhythmic version was produced by DJ Luian, Mambo Kingz, Jowny, and Hydro. (“Rich Girl” was later refreshed by Gwen Stefani’s 2004 song of the same name, featuring Eve. Both versions of “Rich Girl,” and “Somos Iguales,” all call back to the song “If I Were a Rich Man,” from the stage musical Fiddler on the Roof.)

“Somos Iguales” also pounces to the No. 1 rank on the all-genre Latin Airplay chart, as it rallies 13-1 with 9 million in audience impressions, up 55%, earned in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 16. It’s a 29th win for Ozuna. Meanwhile, Tokischa, Louchie Lou and Michie One, all top the list with their first chart entry.

Beto O’Rourke Hands Kacey Musgraves a Beer During ACL Festival

It seems as though Kacey Musgraves is rooting for Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke.

During the “Butterflies” singer’s headlining set during the second weekend of Austin City Limits Music Festival this weekend, the star told the crowd at one point, “Honestly, I could use a drink. Is there any beer or anything out there?” 

O’Rourke then surprised the crowd by briefly stepping onstage to hand Musgraves a bottle of beer. Though the duo said nothing at all about the interaction, the country singer-songwriter took a swig of the beverage and said, “That really hit the spot.” O’Rourke is seen waving to the cheering crowd, before walking off the stage to enjoy the rest of the show.

Musgraves is just the latest star to show her support for O’Rourke, who is challenging incumbent Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in the Nov. 8 general election. During last week’s ACL festival, The Chicks urged the crowd to vote for the Democratic candidate “if there is a female in your life that you care about.”

The week before, Harry Styles also voiced his support for O’Rourke during his Love on Tour Austin concert, rocking a black-and-white sticker on his guitar’s bottom right corner that read “Beto for Texas.”

The gubernatorial hopeful was a Democratic candidate for president of the United States in 2020. In 2018, O’Rourke was a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Texas. Incumbent Senator Ted Cruz defeated O’Rourke in the general election by a margin of just three percentage points.

Kelly Clarkson Serves Up Doobie Brothers Vibes for ‘Kellyoke’

Kelly Clarkson took The Kelly Clarkson Show back to the ’70s with her cover of The Doobie Brothers‘ “What a Fool Believes” on Tuesday (Oct. 18).

Wearing her hair in a high pony with a blue and cheetah print jumpsuit, the talk show host belted out, “What a fool believes/ He sees, no wise man has the power/ To reason away/ Oh, what seems to be/ Is always better than nothing/ And nothing at all/ What a fool believes.”

Released as the lead single from The Doobie Brothers’ 1979 album Minute by Minute, the soft rock classic earned the band their second and final No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 following 1974’s “Black Water.”

During the show, Clarkson welcomed Jessica Chastain as her guest and chatted with the Oscar winner about her role as country legend Tammy Wynette in the upcoming biopic George and Tammy.

The actress even jokingly admitted during the interview that she was “nervous” to discuss the project with the American Idol winner considering the latter’s love for music. “It’s probably the most nervous thing that I… Even talking about it gives me, like, hives,” Chastain said of singing in the film. “But I drank a lot of bourbon and I got through it.

Other recent “Kellyoke” picks by Clarkson have included duets with Sam Smith (“Breakaway“) and Dwayne Johnson (Loretta Lynn’s “Don’t Come Home a Drinkin’“) as well as solo takes on Whitney Houston (“Queen of the Night“), Olivia Rodrigo (“Traitor“), Alec Benjamin (“Let Me Down Slowly” featuring Alessia Cara) and more.

Phoebe Bridgers to Play Sally in ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ London Show

This is halloween, this is halloween, and Phoebe Bridgers is putting her skeletal style to a new use.

The four-time Grammy nominee will be taking on the singing role of ragdoll Sally in a London live-to-film performance of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas alongside Danny Elfman, who will be reprising his role as the pumpkin king Jack Skellington. Ken Page will also return to sing as Oogie Boogie, which he also played in the beloved 1993 film.

The concerts will take place on December 9 and 10 at London’s OVO Arena Wembley. John Mauceri will conduct the BBC Concert Orchestra for the event, and will be joined by Greg Proops, Randy Crenshaw, Fletcher Sheridan and violinist Sandy Cameron. Last year, Elfman led a similar event along with Billie Eilish as Sally at LA’s Banc of California Stadium.

Thomas Rhett and Katy Perry‘s joint music video is finally here. Rhett shared the official music video to their collaborative track “Where We Stared” on Tuesday (Oct. 18), which hails off of his sixth studio album of the same name.

The video sees Rhett and Perry stripping things back for something more simple, with the country singer wearing a double denim ensemble and the pop star in a flowing white gown, appearing at first in separate sheet covered rooms. While singing the song’s second chorus, the pair wade through flowing fabrics to find and serenade each other.

“Those days when you’re brokenhearted/ And you get knocked down/ And you say you don’t know how far we’re gonna go/ Just look at that road and think about where we started/ Keep your eyes on me ’cause talk is cheap/ We’re all we need, yeah/ Darlin’, I know how far we’re gonna go/ Just look at that road and think about where we started,” Rhett and Perry sing.

“Working with Katy has been a really collaborative process,” Rhett said in a statement. “From tracking the song in the studio, to performing on it American Idol, to this video — her input has made this whole experience really special for me.”

The “Firework” singer added, “I loved being able to create a dreamy world for ‘Where We Started,’ going back to the Nashville singer-songwriter roots of where I started.”

“Where We Started” peaked at No. 33 on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart in April. Meanwhile, the album itself spent three weeks on the Billboard 200, where it peaked at No. 12 following its April 1 release. The LP spent 23 weeks on Top Country Albums and peaked in the No. 2 spot on the chart.

Here’s Why Camila Cabello Deleted a Dating App After Just a Day

Swipe left! Camila Cabello stopped by The Drew Barrymore Show on Tuesday (Oct. 18) to dish about the message that put her off using dating apps for good.

“I was on a dating app for like 24 hours, then I left,” she told host Drew Barrymore. “The first guy that DMed me was, like, an aspiring singer-songwriter from Nashville. I was just like, ‘I feel weird because somebody could be using me.’ Does that make sense?”

Barrymore had nothing but validation for The Voice coach’s apprehension in the wake of her high-profile spilt with ex-boyfriend Shawn Mendes. “You don’t know their intentions,” the talk-show host agreed.

“But even that, I’m like, I don’t even know,” Cabello went on. “When you are just trying to make friends, you’re going to meet guys that are vetted by your friends, which is amazing.”

Over the last month, the former Fifth Harmony member has assembled Team Camila on her first season of The Voice, starting with Nashville-based singer Morgan Myles, who earned a four-chair turn with her rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”

Now that season 22 of the reality singing competition has entered the Battle Rounds, Cabello has found it especially difficult to whittle down her freshman team of hopefuls. “I hate this so much. This is the most terrible I’ve felt literally in all of these Battles,” she said during Monday night’s face-off between Team Camila’s Grace Bello and Reina Ley. One night later, the “Bam Bam” singer also had to choose between Myles and fellow country singer Steven McMorran.

During R. Kelly’s racketeering and sex trafficking trial in 2021, the singer’s tour manager Demetrius Smith shared that he had reason to believe Kelly had impregnated Aaliyah when she was still a minor, which is why they got married. The marriage was later annulled in February 1995. Aaliyah died tragically just a few years later, in 2001 at age 22, in an airplane accident in the Bahamas.

While many believe that Kelly preyed on the late star when she was just a teenager, Washington claimed in the interview that she was not a victim. He admitted that he had a “crush” on the then-21-year-old “mysterious” singer while filming Romeo Must Die, in part to her being so “mature.”

As far as the R. Kelly relationship, Washington said that he believes she was in control due to her mature personality. “She was very in control of her being, but she was a businesswoman too. Super smart,” he said. “I think she was in control of that situation even at her age.”

“She was 15 going on 30, so she was in control of that whole situation,” he later added. “I don’t judge her, but she was very smart and very mature and very in control of her situation. I don’t believe one minute that Aaliyah was made to do anything that Aaliyah didn’t want to do.”

Stray Kids’ ‘Case 143’ Spends Second Week at No. 1 on Hot Trending Songs Chart

Stray Kids‘ “Case 143” tallies a second week at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Trending Songs chart (dated Oct. 22), powered by Twitter.

The song is the lead single off the K-pop group’s new set MAXIDENT, which debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 117,000 equivalent album units earned in the Oct. 7-13 tracking week, according to Luminate. Album sales comprise 110,000 of the set’s sum, marking the fourth-largest sales week of any title this year.

“Case 143” became the Stray Kids’ first No. 1 on Hot Trending Songs a week earlier. The act is the fourth group to top the chart this year, joining BLACKPINK, BTS and SB19.

Running down the top five on Hot Trending Songs, TREASURE’s “Hello” jumps 4-2, hitting a new high in its second week; Lisa claims both Nos. 3 and 4 with former four-week No. 1 “Lalisa” and “Money,” respectively; and BamBam’s “Slow Mo” rises 8-5 (after reaching No. 3).

Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Everywhere’ Rides Back to Billboard Charts Thanks to Chevy Ad Synch

Fleetwood Mac continues its surge on Billboard‘s charts in the 2020s as its classic track “Everywhere” hits the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs tally (dated Oct. 22) at No. 25.

Originally released on the band’s 1987 album Tango in the Night, “Everywhere” has received renewed attention thanks to its synch in a commercial for Chevrolet’s electric vehicle line.

The track enters Hot Rock & Alternative Songs (where older songs are eligible to appear if in the top 25 and with a meaningful reason for their return), with 2.3 million official U.S. streams, up 16%, and 5,000 downloads sold, up 12%, in the U.S. Oct. 7-13, according to Luminate.

Prior to the commercial’s premiere, the song was generally averaging about 1.3-1.4 million streams a week in the U.S.

“Everywhere” concurrently rules Rock Digital Song Sales for a third week, all consecutively, and vaults 7-3 on the all-genre Digital Song Sales list.

“Everywhere” stands as Fleetwood Mac’s most recent top 20 hit, among 16 total, on the Billboard Hot 100, having reached No. 14 in February 1988. It also became the band’s second of three Adult Contemporary No. 1s. (Tango in the Night marked Fleetwood Mac’s last studio LP fully featuring its famed lineup of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.)

The song follows the revival of another of Fleetwood Mac’s hits: In October 2020, “Dreams” re-entered the Hot 100 and rose as high as No. 12 after its inclusion in a viral TikTok trend. The song topped the chart for a week in 1977, marking the group’s second of nine top 10s.

Tango in the Night hit No. 7 on the Billboard 200 in 1987. Fleetwood Mac boasts seven top 10s on the chart, including four No. 1s.

Kate Bush Reacts to Robbie Coltrane’s Death: ‘We’ve Lost One of Our Great Treasures’

Kate Bush is mourning the loss of a giant talent. The “Running Up That Hill” singer expressed her sadness after the news of Robbie Coltrane’s death. The Harry Potter star, known and beloved for playing half-giant Hagrid, died at 72 on Oct. 14, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.

In a rare statement shared to her website, Bush revealed how she felt after learning about Coltrane’s death, and detailed the connection they forged after he starred in the video for her 2011 single “Deeper Understanding,” which hails from her ninth album, Director’s Cut.

“I was very upset to hear the news about Robbie,” the 64-year-old wrote. “I’m really grateful that he agreed to star in a video that we made some years ago. It was incredibly exciting to watch him at work and to be in the presence of his deeply profound intelligence and earthy wit. He was so much fun. I’m really going to miss him.”

She continued, “I had so much respect for his many talents and his generosity of spirit. We’ve lost one of our great treasures.” Bush is far from the first star to pay tribute to Coltrane. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and its film stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, Bonnie Wright and more extended their condolences via social media and statements.

While Coltrane’s cause of death has yet to be revealed, the late actor is is survived by a sister, Annie Rae, his children — Spencer and Alice — and their mother, Rhona Gemmell.
