A new Hailee Steinfeld era is incoming. The singer/actress shared a teaser photo to her Instagram on Wednesday (March 22) of what fans can expect from her new music, and spoiler: It feels very beachy.

The post in question features a yellow saturated photo of the 26-year-old staring straight into the camera, hair, eyebrows and both sides of her face falling into a dreamy soft focus, with the word “Sun Kissing” — the song title — positioned directly underneath her face.

Fans thankfully won’t have to wait too long for the track to be released, as she shared the details regarding its arrival in the caption: “TOMORROW (March 23) 9 PST,” she wrote, along with several flaming heart emojis.

“Sun Kissing” will serve as the follow-up to Steinfeld’s 2022 track “Coast,” which features Silk Sonic’s Anderson .Paak.

Speaking with Grammy.com, the singer explained that her forthcoming music was the first time she “was able to create this whole universe, which I’ve never been able to do with my music. In a way, with the music working so well simultaneously to my acting, I’ve had these singles that have come out over time. This is really the first time I’ve been able to build a proper world that I cannot wait for. Everybody’s getting a little taste of it with “Coast,” but there’s so much more where that came from.”

Cardi B’s ‘Knee Already Broke’ Thinking of Re-Creating This Iconic Michael & Janet Jackson Music Video

Sure, Cardi B shows off her impressive dance moves and twerking skills in music videos like “Up,” but she admits that her talents do have some limitations.

The rapper took to Twitter on Wednesday (March 22) to respond to a fan who suggested that she and her husband Offset recreate the high-energy dance breakdown in Michael and Janet Jackson’s 1995 hit, “Scream.”

“Offset YES…..Me? …..my knee already broke,” Cardi jokingly replied, retweeting the video.

It’s been an exciting year for Cardi, who recently released a personalized Valentine’s-ready McDonald’s meal with the Migos rapper, featuring Quarter Pounder with cheese, a cheeseburger, side of BBQ sauce, a large fry and apple pie to share, and two large drinks.

Along with the McDonald’s meal, Cardi and Offset also released a full merch collection filled with T-shirts, hoodies, booty shorts and beanies emblazoned with plenty of puns (“nice buns”), signature catchphrases (Cardi’s famous “ok uu rr rr rr”) and more.

In February, Cardi surprised an ecstatic crowd as a special guest at GloRilla’s New York City concert, where the pair teamed up to perform their hit collab “Tomorrow 2,” just weeks after the former and her husband dazzled with a pre-Super Bowl set in Arizona attended by Serena Williams, Tiffany Haddish and more.

Offset Previews New Song With Posthumous Takeoff Verse

Migos fans should be pleased to know that Offset has a new record with Icewear Vezzo and his late bandmate/cousin Takeoff potentially on the way.

Earlier this week, Set teased the trunk-rattling track on his Instagram Stories, which drew elation from fans on social media. The 56-second snippet finds Vezzo and Takeoff exchanging bars before Offset bursts through the song with fiery lines of his own.

The path to Set’s sophomore album has been arduous. Last August, he sued his former label Quality Control to reclaim ownership of his solo material. Then, in November, he lost his cousin Takeoff, who was shot and killed in Houston, further delaying the album. He was also involved in a fistful of skirmishes, including a verbal spat online with J. Prince and allegedly feuding with his Migos bandmate Quavo at this year’s Grammy Awards.

Musically, Offset has released several one-off singles to keep fans intrigued. Last August, he released “5 4 3 2 1” before following up with “CODE” featuring MoneyBagg Yo. Offset’s 2019 debut album Father of 4 netted a top-five entry on the Billboard 200 with 89,000 album-equivalent units. The offering also spawned his triple-platinum single “Clout” featuring his wife, Cardi B.

On the posthumous side, this is the latest offering from Takeoff after fans first heard The Last Rocket MC on Metro Boomin’s Heroes and Villians standout “Feel the Fiyaaaah” featuring him and A$AP Rocky.

Brandy Steps Back Into Cinderella’s Glass Slippers for ‘Descendants’ Teaser

Back in her own little corner… or make that kingdom! Brandy revisited her role as Cinderella in a new teaser for Descendants: The Rise of Red released on Wednesday (March 22).

The clip features the R&B legend — who originally graced the screen as the iconic princess in the 1997 TV movie Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella — wearing a regal, voluminous gown of baby blue and matching overcoat with her hair in a long, blue braid. She even reunites with her co-star Paolo Montalban, who’s now graduated from Prince to King Charming.

Brandy’s casting was first revealed back in November when the project was announced as a Descendants spin-off titled The Pocketwatch. At the time, the movie musical was purportedly centered around Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe, the daughter of Cinderella and Charming — but there’s no word yet on whether any plot points may have changed along with the new title.

The artist known as the Vocal Bible last returned to her Disney princess roots in summer 2022 for the original film’s 25th-anniversary reunion special, which also featured interviews with Montalban, Whoopi Goldberg, Victor Garber, Bernadette Peters, Jason Alexander and more. “I remember like it was yesterday,” she said of working with the late Whitney Houston on the beloved movie.

She also performed a medley of Cinderella tracks such as “The Sweetest Sound,” “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible,” “A Lovely Night” and “Ten Minutes Ago” for one of Todrick Hall’s viral videos during the pandemic.

The British indie rock group, led by founders Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, is fresh off their first two Grammy wins, taking home the awards for best alternative music performance and best alternative music album at the 2023 ceremony.

Sudan Archives, Allison Russell, Fontaines D.C. and Soul Glo all have three nominations each at the Libera Awards, which will take place at the historic Town Hall in New York City on June 15. The A2IM is a not-for-profit trade association that represents independent music recording owners and advocates for music owners on a policy level to ensure fair compensation for their work.

“Huge congratulations to all our talented and accomplished nominees for the 12th annual A2IM Libera Awards,” Dr. Richard James Burgess, president and CEO of A2IM, said in a press statement. “The A2IM Libera Awards is the world’s largest award show for the diverse universe of independent music and this year’s event will be the biggest and best to date.”

The Ultra Set Where Avicii Got Booed During ‘Wake Me Up’ Debut Was 10 Years Ago Today: See New Footage From the Show

Wednesday (March 22) marks the 10-year anniversary of one of EDM’s milestone moments: the Ultra Music Festival performance where Avicii was booed while debuting his then-new single “Wake Me Up.”

2013 was a heady time for dance music in the U.S., marking the height of the EDM explosion, the influx of money and fans to the scene and Avicii as its biggest star — a position he’d earned after releasing a litany of genre-defining hits, including his 2011 breakout track “Levels.”

But on March 22, 2013, things went sideways for Avicii, if only momentarily.

It was on this day that the artist born Tim Bergling used his mainstage set at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival to debut a new track. A group of musicians assembled onstage and proceeded to play a bluegrass song that had little resemblance to the maximalist EDM the assembled crowd was expecting.

Instead, they got banjo, two guitars and vocalist Aloe Blacc singing about carrying the weight of the world. According to those in the crowd that night, the performance “did not pop.”

“When we performed at Ultra, it was just awkward,” Blacc told Spin in 2019. “I don’t think even the sound people knew what they were doing. Everybody else at the festival had air cannons and pyro and half-naked girls dancing onstage. Then here comes Tim with drums, banjo, fiddle, guitar and three singers.”

But despite the audience really not getting it, the world soon would. That new track, “Wake Me Up,” soon exploded, ultimately becoming the most successful song in the Avicii catalog. It was the Swedish producer’s only top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching No. 4 in October 2013. It spent 26 weeks at No. 1 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs in 2013-14 and spent 10 weeks at No. 1 Dance/Mix Show Airplay. In the last decade it’s been streamed more than 2.97 billion times globally, according to Luminate.

But this Ultra 2013 performance — which also included a similarly frosty reception for the other new country-leaning Avicii track “Hey Brother” — contained much more than its most famous moment. Nearly 10 minutes of new footage released by the Avicii estate on Wednesday captures this show’s renditions of “Addicted to You” and “Dear Boy,” which (like “Wake Me Up” and “Hey Brother”) are also from Avicii’s 2013 album True. That LP was released six months after the 2013 Ultra show.

This footage of “Addicted to You” features guest vocalist Audra Mae, who is the great-great niece of Judy Garland, taking the stage. The song is followed by “Dear Boy,” which finds the late producer — who would die five years after this show — manning the decks while wearing his signature backward baseball hat as the lights flash in front of him and the crowd goes as wild as they eventually would for “Wake Me Up.” Watch the performance below.

Skai Jackson Says She Still Has the Note Justin Bieber Left Her as a Kid: ‘He Was So Sweet’

Skai Jackson stopped by The Jennifer Hudson Show on Wednesday (March 22) to reminisce about meeting Justin Bieber as a child star.

The 20-year-old actress, who grew up as a diehard Belieber, told Hudson it was only after a number of missed opportunities and waiting “hours” at a time that she finally came face to face with her childhood idol when he was filming at a soundstage next door to where she was working.

“One day we were filming and next thing, I come out and I see him and Selena Gomez standing there, and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh!’” she told host Jennifer Hudson. “And he was so sweet, he was so sweet.”

Only later did the Jessie alum realize that the superstar had snuck into her dressing room to leave her a handwritten, autographed note that read, “Skai, nice to meet you! You are very cute, make sure to always stay sweet!! God bless.”

“I still have it to this day,” Jackson admitted. “I was cleaning my closet and I found it again. I was like, ‘Thank god!’ So I put it away. But it’s been like 10 years, so I still have it.”

Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ Soundtracks Nicolas Cage’s Vampiric Antics in ‘Renfield’ Trailer

Work really sucks the life out of you — especially if you’re Nicholas Hoult in Renfield.

The upcoming comedy horror film stars Hoult as the titular character, who works as an servant to Count Dracula, played by Nicolas Cage. After following in love with a traffic cop named Rebecca Quincy (Awkwafina), the lackey decides to finally stand up for himself and break free from his abusive boss.

The trailer for the film, released on Wednesday (March 22), highlights Renfield’s 90-year journey as Dracula’s lackey in New Orleans, Louisiana, fittingly soundtracked by Radiohead’s 1993 classic, “Creep,” featured on the band’s debut album Pablo Honey.

“I’m a creep / I’m a weirdo / What the hell am I doin’ here? / I don’t belong here,” the band’s frontman Thom Yorke is heard singing as Renfield explains his bloody situation to Quincy, before a battle breaks out between Renfield and his creepy boss.

Two years ago, Radiohead unveiled a “Very 2021” remix of the hit that propelled them into stardom, twisting the tune even slower and darker. The new version was cut for Jun Takahashi’s Fall 2021 collection and features artworks from the Japanese fashion designer.

Pete Wentz Says Ashlee Simpson Divorce & Fall Out Boy Break Felt Like a ‘Bomb Had Gone Off’

Pete Wentz delved into a reflection on the ups and downs of his life in the newest issue of Nylon published this week, and how he’s grown from it.

One particular turning point in his life was in 2010, when he was in the process of splitting from then-wife Ashlee Simpson, raising their son Bronx and dealing with the reality that Fall Out Boy was going on a break. “My life was just like… a bomb had gone off in it,” he said of that time period, noting that he then had a crucial realization. “You’ve atrophied all of these life skills. I was like, ‘Oh. You have to figure out how to be happy as an adult.’”

Since then, the bomb has settled. The rocker has been with his longtime partner, Megan Camper, since 2011 and the couple shares Together, they share eight-year-old son Saint and four-year-old daughter Marvel.

Fall Out Boy has also found their way back together. They’ve released a number of albums since their break, including 2013’s Save Rock and Roll, 2015’s American Beauty/American Psycho and 2018’s Mania. Now, the band is just days away from unveiling their eighth studio album, So Much (for) Stardust on March 24.

“Why don’t you just do the s— you want to do?” Wentz says is his current life philosophy. “Life is so short, and it’s so long, that maybe you should try crazy s— because it will break you out of the feeling of nihilism.”

What Does Working in the Studio With Daft Punk Sound Like? Hear New Audio of Their Process

“The Writing of Fragments of Time,” a new release from Daft Punk released Wednesday (March 22), is a more than eight-minute audio recording of Daft’s Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo in the studio with American DJ-producer-vocalist Todd Edwards more a decade ago, while the trio were working on the track “Fragments of Time.”

The song was featured on Daft Punk’s 2013 album Random Access Memories, which is getting an expanded release in May. “The Writing of Fragments of Time” is the first release from this expanded edition and features audio on which you can hear Bangalter and Edwards (who first collaborated with Daft Punk on 2001’s “Face To Face”) working out the song’s lyrics.

This audio was taken at the Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles on Feb. 29, 2012, with a tape running for the full session.

“There are certain parts I’m getting choked up, because it’s so damn emotional just putting these three weeks into words, it’s really intense. I’ve never felt anything like this,” Edwards says toward the end of the new track.

“It’s making it forever,” Bangalter adds.

“I worked two weeks in L.A. with Daft Punk for their Random Access Memories album,” Edwards told Billboard in 2021. “I called my mom during that first week; she could hear the calm and happiness in my voice and said, ‘You need to be out there. There’s nothing for you in New Jersey. I’ll miss you when you go, but I’d feel worse if you stayed.’ That summer I packed up a truck with all my gear and drove across country to move to L.A.”

The new edition of Random Access Memories — which won the Grammy for album of the year in 2014 — will include 35 minutes of additional material across nine tracks, including unreleased demos and studio outtakes like the one out now. Fans will have their choice of two different formats for the project: a double CD or a vinyl set with three LPs. The CD set will include a 20-page digital booklet, while the vinyl set will include a special Lose Yourself to Dance poster and 16-page booklet. For the first time ever, an Atmos mix of the original album will be made available on streaming.
