Taylor Swift’s ‘Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version)’ Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

Taylor Swift’s “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version) [From the Vault]” launches at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. The track is from Swift’s newest rerecorded album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which blasts in atop the Billboard 200, becoming her 13th No. 1 set, extending her mark for the most among women.

On the Hot 100, Swift scores her 11th No. 1 – and dethrones her 10th, “Cruel Summer,” after two weeks on top. She replaces herself at the summit for a second time, and is the only woman ever to have achieved the feat.

Swift claims eight songs in the Hot 100’s top 10, with her two latest leaders joined by six additional debuts from 1989 (Taylor’s Version). She ups her career count to 49 top 10s, the most among women and second among all acts only to Drake’s 69.

The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data, the lattermost metric reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers; digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites are excluded from chart calculations. All charts (dated Nov. 11, 2023) will update on Billboard.com Tuesday (Nov. 7). Here’s a look at the coronation of “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version) [From the Vault],” the 1,159th single to top the Hot 100 over the chart’s 65-year history, and the 73rd to debut at No. 1 (and Swift’s sixth to enter at the top spot) – as well as a rundown of all of Swift’s new top 10s on the list.

Streams, airplay & sales: Released Oct. 27 on 1989 (Taylor’s Version), “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version) [From the Vault]” drew 32 million streams and 4.7 million radio airplay audience impressions and sold 5,000 downloads in the tracking week ending Nov. 2, according to Luminate.

The single also debuts at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart, becoming Swift’s eighth leader, and No. 7 on Digital Song Sales. It also begins at No. 38 on the Pop Airplay chart, and is being actively promoted as a single to radio.

Swift’s 11th Hot 100 No. 1: With her 11th Hot 100 No. 1, Swift ties Whitney Houston for the eighth-most since the chart began on Aug. 4, 1958.

3 No. 1s, 3 Albums in ‘23: Swift becomes the first artist to spend time atop the Hot 100 with three songs in 2023. Prior to “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version) [From the Vault],” she led with “Cruel Summer,” revived from her 2019 album Lover, and “Anti-Hero” (which first led in 2022), from last year’s Midnights.

Swift is the first woman to top the Hot 100 with three songs from three distinct albums by the same act in a single year. Among all acts, she’s the first since the Jackson 5 in 1970; the group broke through that year with the No. 1s “I Want You Back” from Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5; “ABC” and “The Love You Save”/”I Found That Girl” from ABC; and “I’ll Be There” from their Third Album LP. (The Beatles lead the category with six No. 1s from five albums in 1964.)

Swift Takes ‘Over’ for Swift: As “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version) [From the Vault]” bumps “Cruel Summer” from No. 1 on the Hot 100, Swift replaces herself at the summit for a second time, and is the only woman to have achieved the feat at all. New ‘Blood,’ Not Out of ‘Style’: Swift returns two compositions to the Hot 100’s top 10, as “Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version)” debuts at No. 7 and “Style (Taylor’s Version)” starts at No. 9. The original version of the former, as noted above, led for a week and the initial version of the latter hit No. 6, both in 2015.

Swift sends revamped versions of her songs to the Hot 100’s top 10 for the first time. She previously came closest to the feat when “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” hit No. 11 in 2021, after the original reached No. 4 in 2009. She’s the first artist to take a song to the top 10 via different versions in just over 20 years: In August 2003, Uncle Kracker’s update of “Drift Away,” featuring Dobie Gray, hit No. 9, after Gray’s original reached No. 5 in 1973.

(Notably, the original “Bad Blood” was remixed adding featured artist Kendrick Lamar in 2015. Two “[Taylor’s Version]” mixes of the song are on 1989 [Taylor’s Version]; with the mix without Lamar drawing more consumption in the tracking week than the one with him, he is not billed on the Hot 100 on “Bad Blood [Taylor’s Version].”)

Easy as 1-2-3: Swift infuses the Hot 100’s top three for a second time, following the Nov. 5, 2022, chart, when her album Midnights premiered atop the Billboard 200. The Beatles (five weeks, 1964), Drake (three, 2021-23) and Swift are the only acts with multiple such weeks, with Ariana Grande having earned the honor once, in 2019.

Plus, as Swift scores eight songs in the Hot 100’s top 10, she achieves her second week with at least that many simultaneous top 10s, following the frame in which 10 tracks from Midnights made for a historic sweep, led by “Anti-Hero” at No. 1. The only other such weeks belong to Drake, who logged nine and eight top 10s on the charts dated Sept. 18, 2021, and Nov. 19, 2022, respectively, each likewise sparked by his chart arrivals of new albums.

All-Female Hot 100 Top 10: In addition to Swift’s eight songs in the Hot 100’s top 10, Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red” ranks at No. 4 and SZA’s “Snooze” drifts off to No. 8. The chart hosts just the second all-woman top 10 in its history, following, again, the Nov. 5, 2022, chart, when Swift ranked at Nos. 1-10 with songs from Midnights (with Lana Del Rey featured on the No. 4 track that week, “Snow on the Beach”).

Swift, Warren & Martin’s Top 10s as Writers: As Swift expands her haul to 49 career Hot 100 top 10s as a recording artist, she now boasts a milestone 50 top 10s as a songwriter. She has written all 49 top 10s that she’s recorded and also sports writing credit on Olivia Rodrigo’s “Deja Vu,” which hit No. 3 in 2021; Swift is among those credited as a writer on the song, given its perceived similarities to “Cruel Summer.”

Meanwhile, two other writers with extensive Hot 100 histories pad their counts of top 10s. Diane Warren co-wrote “Say Don’t Go (Taylor’s Version) [From the Vault]” and Max Martin co-penned both “Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version)” and “Style (Taylor’s Version).” Warren has now written 33 top 10s – which have charted over a span of 40 years and six months – while Martin has authored 78 top 10s, spanning 26 years and four months.

Beyond Swift’s seven new Hot 100 top 10s, “Cruel Summer,” down to No. 6 from No. 1, adds a third week atop the Radio Songs chart, with 75.4 million audience impressions (down 6%).

Elsewhere in the Hot 100’s top 10, as noted above, Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red” drops 2-4 and SZA’s “Snooze” falls 3-8. The former, which led for three nonconsecutive beginning in September, notches a ninth and 10th week, respectively, atop the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, which use the same methodology as the Hot 100. The latter, which hit No. 2 on the Hot 100, rules the multimetric Hot R&B Songs chart for a 14th week.

Dolly Parton & Hayley Williams Bond Over Love for Miley Cyrus: People Don’t ‘Even Know How Talented She Is’

In a recent sit-down conversation ahead of Dolly Parton‘s new album Rockstar, she and Hayley Williams discovered they have something in common other than their home base in Nashville: Their love for Miley Cyrus.

Arriving Nov. 17, Rockstar is a 30-track compilation of both new songs and covers of classic rock songs, featuring a long list of collaborators spanning Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Stevie Nicks, Elton John and more. Also included on the project’s guest list is Cyrus, Parton’s real-life goddaughter; last month, the pair shared a duet version of the 30-year-old pop star’s 2013 hit “Wrecking Ball,” which will appear on the album.

“Yours and Miley’s voices are perfect together,” Williams told Parton of the collaboration in their interview, published by Consequence Monday (Nov. 6). “You on this song, it feels like a song that you could have written.”

“Well, I wish I had written that song,” replied the “9 to 5” singer. “Miley, I’m crazy about. I don’t think people even know how talented she is.”

“I think what, unfortunately, people do is really underestimate based on presentation or based on the fact that she came from Disney,” agreed the Paramore frontwoman. “And she’s already proven that she’s got the chops: She’s a great singer, a writer.”

“Her comedic timing I think is unbelievable,” Parton added. “She’s a great writer and that voice… I think she’s the new, modern day rock chick. That thing that’s got the grit and the soul and the sex appeal. She’s got that voice when she can go down in that bourbon and cigarette voice, but she can also sing a song so delicate. I mean, she’s just got everything she needs.”

The pair also spoke about politics, songwriting, philanthropy, shifting genres and the event that inspired Parton to make Rockstar in the first place: Her 2022 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which she was initially hesitant to accept as a country artist. “I still didn’t feel like I’d earned it,” she explained to Williams. “And I had often talked about doing a rock album, and well, I’m also not one to miss timing. So I thought, if I’m ever gonna do it, I’m doing it now, so I can feel I earned it.”

Another star known for pivoting away from country music — albeit much more permanently than Parton — is Taylor Swift, who recently opened up about why she admires the “Jolene” musician. “She’s never stopped challenging herself to clear new hurdles and explore new territory artistically, and I think that speaks to her great curiosity about the human condition,” Swift told the Hollywood Reporter last week. “She’s a legendary empath and the storyteller for the ages. She’s also having the most fun doing it.”

Travis Scott Brings Out Playboi Carti & More Epic Moments From His Utopia – Circus Maximus Show in L.A.

“I thought we were going to utopia?”

“What makes you say this isn’t utopia?”

“I mean, I don’t know, isn’t it supposed to be some perfect destination?”

SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., was the perfect destination for Travis Scott to make history Sunday (Nov. 5) during his latest Utopia – Circus Maximus Tour stop. But the multi-sensory experience — replete with flames spontaneously flying up from his rock-hewn stage design and heating up the entire 70,000-capacity stadium as well as an infinite amount of sweaty mosh pits — transported fans to the wonderful world of utopia he gradually built over the years.

Scott’s current tour is an on-going celebration of his latest album, Utopia, which he released on July 28 via his own label, Cactus Jack, and Epic Records. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 496,000 equivalent album units, capturing the largest week for any R&B/hip-hop or rap album in 2023; it remained atop the chart for four weeks. All 19 songs on the album debuted on the Billboard Hot 100, pushing Scott’s total from 93 to 111 total charted songs in his career, thus making the rapper the 15th artist in the chart’s 65-year history to log 100-plus career entries on the survey.

But that’s not the only history Scott’s made lately: His SoFi stop marks his biggest headline show to date and makes him the first rapper to play and sell out the stadium. “I never thought of this dream coming true. … This night has given me beyond chills,” he reflected with his ravenous fans before performing his 2016 hit “Goosebumps” from his sophomore album, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight.

But Scott didn’t savor his victory lap by himself, as tour opener Teezo Touchdown and Playboi Carti joined him onstage to perform their Utopia collaborations. Meanwhile, the rapper’s 5-year-old daughter, Stormi Webster, made a cute cameo.

ENHYPEN Unveils ‘Orange Blood’ Tracklist

ENHYPEN‘s album rollout for its forthcoming album, Orange Blood, continues. The K-pop stars added one more piece to the puzzle of its release on Sunday (Nov. 5), sharing the album’s tracklist on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The set will contain a total of five original tracks — “Mortal,” “Sweet Venom,” “Still Monster,” “Far” and “Orange Flower (You Complete Me).” The release will also include an English version of “Sweet Venom” and a digital only remix of “Sweet Venom” featuring Bella Poarch (“Build a B—h”).

In addition to the tracklist’s release, track mood samplers with members Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon and Ni-ki were shared to YouTube Monday. The videos feature instrumentals of the songs on Orange Blood and the guys posing amid hazy bright lighting and in matching white outfits.

ENGENEs will have plenty more to look forward to leading up to Orange Blood‘s arrival. The album preview and music video teasers will roll out between Nov. 11-16, concluding with the video and album release on Nov. 17 and a special showcase, EN-CONNECT Night, on Nov. 18.

Orange Blood serves as the follow up to ENHYPEN’s May release, Dark Blood. The previous mini album earned the K-pop stars its highest charting release to date, peaking at No. 4 and spending a total of 10 cumulative weeks on the Billboard 200 in June.

Richie Sambora Says a Reunion With Bon Jovi Could Happen: ‘It’s Time To Do It’

It’s been a decade since Richie Sambora rocked alongside Jon Bon Jovi in the band the two co-founded in Sayreville, N.J. in 1983. But to hear Sambora, 64, tell it, the time might be just right for a reunion to celebrate the beloved group’s 40th anniversary.

“There’s a documentary that’s being done about the band and stuff that I’ve participated in, and people want to come see us play, and it’s going to make everybody happy,” the Bon Jovi co-founder told People. “I mean, essentially, that’s why you do it at this point.” Sambora suggested that some talks have been taking place about him returning to the group he left in 2013 in the middle of a tour.

And though the details behind the split have never officially been hashed out in public, Sambora sounded very confident that time might heal old wounds. “So yeah, it definitely could happen,” he said of a possible reunion. “It’s just a question of when everybody’s ready to go do it. It will be a big, massive kind of undertaking.” In 2020, Sambora told People that he had no regrets about stepping aside from his main gig to focus on his relationship with his daughter Ava, now 26. “It wasn’t a popular decision by any means, obviously, but there was really almost no choice about it,” he said at the time.

At press time Sambora said there was no additional information or timeline for a possible rapprochement, adding, “it’s time to do it, though… this is our 40th anniversary, but I feel younger than ever. I’m having a ball.” A spokesperson for Jon Bon Jovi could not be reached for at press time for a comment on Sambora’s interview.

Sambora co-founded BJ with singer Jon Bon Jovi, original bassist Alec John Such, keyboardist David Bryan and drummer Tico Torres and he co-wrote some of the band’s most iconic hits, including “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “Livin’ on a Prayer.” Following his departure, Sambora was replaced by guitarist Phil X, who continues to tour and record with the group.

Though singer Bon Jovi has not publicly discussed a potential reunion, this isn’t the first time Sambora has expressed an interest in rejoining the band. Back in 2018 when Howard Stern inducted the Jersey giants into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and they appeared together on stage, Sambora said “everybody falls back into place… it feels great to see everybody. We already rehearsed and it was wonderful, it wasn’t awkward.”

Taylor Swift Has Girls’ Night Out With Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Sophie Turner & Brittany Mahomes: Photos

Baby, they’re the new romantics, the best people in life are free. Taylor Swift is living her 1989 2.0 era, stepping out for dinner in New York City over the weekend with Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Sophie Turner and Brittany Mahomes.

The A-list group, which blends O.G. members of Swift’s “squad” (Gomez and Hadid) with a couple of the pop star’s newer friends (Turner and Mahomes), was spotted together in Manhattan. After grabbing some Japanese cuisine at BondST, Swift swift exited the restaurant holding hands with Mahomes and linking arms with Gomez. (The restaurant even shared an Instagram Story about the outing on its account.)

Coincidentally, as fans on Twitter pointed out, four of the five women have at some point been romantically linked to a Jonas brother: Gomez dated Nick Jonas in 2008, while Swift and Hadid both dated Joe Jonas before he married Turner in 2019. The “Anti-Hero” singer and Game of Thrones star have been spotted hanging out in public since the actress split from Jonas earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Swift and Mahomes have sparked up a friendship amid the 12-time Grammy winner’s romance with Travis Kelce, who plays alongside the former soccer player’s husband, Patrick Mahomes, for the Kansas City Chiefs. The two women are often seen cheering on the NFL stars side by side from a private box suite at Arrowhead Stadium.

During his latest appearance on the TODAY show on Monday (Nov. 6), George revealed that he would be joining the cast of the Tony Award-winning musical in the role of Harold Zidler, the enigmatic and fabulous owner of the titular club, starting on Feb. 6, and running until May 12.

Speaking with hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, George said that he was particularly excited to be joining an ensemble cast, something he prefers when it comes to live performing. “Just being part of an ensemble is really fun,” he said. “You can’t have an ego, because there’s too many people. It’s about fitting in, especially because everyone’s been doing this show for a while. So, hopefully, they’re going to teach me.”

Moulin Rouge! will not mark Boy George’s first time on the Great White Way. Back in 2003, the singer debuted his original musical Taboo, which told the story of his life in conjunction with the founding of his band Culture Club and the New Romantic club scene in London. The show was nominated for four Tony Awards in 2004, including best original score for George’s music.

In the meantime, George is currently promoting his new autobiography Karma, described as a story recounting “the drama, the music, his journey of addiction and recovery, surviving prison,” and much more. During his appearance on the TODAY show, George reminisced about the massive success of “Karma Chameleon,” the desire for himself and his band to find success in the U.S., and how he was sure from a young age that he would be famous. He said, “I guess I just knew I wasn’t going to play football and climb trees.”

Peso Pluma Set to Perform at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards

Mexican star Peso Pluma is set to perform at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, taking place Sunday, Nov. 19. The música Mexicana singer-songwriter will perform “Rubicón,” a corrido — powered by prickly guitars — from his chart-topping album Génesis.

The performance will include a special guest appearance by boxing legend Mike Tyson, who is a self-declared Peso Pluma superfan. Over the summer, Tyson posted a video promoting Génesis, saying, “Ahhh, it’s my sh–!” when one of the songs starts playing.

Peso Pluma is a Billboard Music Awards first-time finalist, and is up for five total awards, including top new artist, top Latin artist, top Latin male artist and top Latin album for Génesis, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and spent 15 weeks at No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart, the most for a regional Mexican album. He’s also a finalist in the top Latin song category with two entries there: “Ella Baila Sola” with Eslabon Armado and “La Bebe” with Yng Lvcas. Peso was a top winner at October’s Billboard Latin Music Awards, taking home eight awards, including artist of the year, new.

Taylor Swift is the top finalist at the 2023 BBMAs with nods in 20 categories. Morgan Wallen and SZA are runners-up, with 17 entries each. They are followed by The Weeknd (16); Drake and Zach Bryan (14); Luke Combs (10); 21 Savage, Metro Boomin and Miley Cyrus (nine each); Beyoncé and Rema (seven each); Bad Bunny and Peso Pluma (six each); and Ariana Grande, David Guetta, Eslabon Armado, Karol G, NewJeans and Selena Gomez (five each).

Travis Kelce became the Kansas City Chiefs’ all-time leading receiver after helping his team triumph over the Miami Dolphins — and Taylor Swift is all for it.

Amid the pair’s buzzworthy romance, the 33-year-old pop star “liked” a post from People on Instagram about Kelce’s new feat. The post cited stats from The Athletic, which totaled Kelce’s updated career receiving yards at 10,941 — one yard more than Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez’s previous record of 10,940 yards, making the 34-year-old tight end the new all-time leading receiver in franchise history.

Fans in the comments section were quick to notice that the post celebrating Kelce had earned a double-tap from the pop superstar, who’s become a frequent guest at his games. In fact, it’s been reported that the Ohio native actually plays better when Swift is watching from her usual spot next to Brittany Mahomes or Donna Kelce in a private box suite, something he recently said was “hard for me to wrap my head around.”

The “Anti-Hero” singer’s attendance, however, had nothing to do with Kelce’s most recent overseas victory against the Dolphins in Frankfurt, Germany. Swift was very much in New York City over the weekend — she was spotted out with an A-list group of friends including Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid and Sophie Turner Saturday night (Nov. 4).

“@taylorswift you liked this post hmmm? ?” commented one fan on People‘s post, while another wrote: “The queen @taylorswift is here supporting a king ??”

In other “Tayvis” news, Kelce was recently asked at a press conference whether he was “in love” with the 12-time Grammy winner. “I’m going to keep my personal relationship personal,” he responded, although he did divulge, “The latest status is I got to see her last week. That’s the latest status right there.”

As for Swift, she’s the lead finalist for the 2023 Billboard Music Awards with 20 nominations. The event will stream Nov. 19 on the BBMAs and Billboard‘s social channels, as well as on BBMAs.watch.

Lauryn Hill Starts Late in Los Angeles, Tells Fans, ‘Y’all Lucky I Make It on This… Stage Every Night’

Ms. Lauryn Hill has developed a reputation for hitting the stage after her appointed time. She was tardy again on Saturday night for her show in Los Angeles at the Kia Forum celebrating the 25th anniversary of her landmark The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill solo album and according to video by fans, she had something to say about her lateness.

“You’re saying’ ‘She’s late. She’s late a lot.’ Yo, y’all lucky I make it on this blood ras stage every night,” Hill said. “I don’t do it because they let me do it. I do it because I stand here in the name of God and I do it. God is the one who allows me to do it, who surrounded me with family and community when there was no support.”

Hill then went on to articulate what sounded like a lingering distaste over what she described as her limited musical options in the wake of Miseducation‘s smash success, which included more than 20 million in sales and five Grammy awards. “When the album sold so many records, and no one showed up and said, ‘Hey, would you like to make another one?’ So I went around the world, and I played the same album over and over and over and over again,” Hill said during the first of two shows at the venue, where she was once again joined by her Fugees bandmates Wyclef Jean and Pras for a portion of the show. “Because we’re the survivors, and we’re not just survivors, we’re the thrivers.” 

Hills has never released another solo studio album in the wake of 1998’s Miseducation, which was followed-up in 2002 with the uneven MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 and a handful of non-charting one-off singles.

Hill had to hit pause on the tour last week, postponing a show in Fort Worth, TX after she said doctors ordered vocal rest after earlier postponing the third date on the run — in Philadelphia — due to similar issues. “As you may know, I’ve been doing my best to overcome a serious case of vocal strain/injury over the past week or so,” Hill wrote in a tweet just hours before curtain for the Fort Worth show. “I fought through the last couple shows, pushing my voice, and masking the injury with medication. This isn’t safe or sustainable. I woke up this morning hoping to have enough voice to get through tonight, but I can barely talk let alone sing or rap.”
