Calvin Harris’ Wife Says She Listens to Taylor Swift When He Isn’t Around

Vick Hope is a Swiftie, despite her husband’s history with Taylor Swift.

Calvin Harris’ wife shared on her BBC Radio 1 show Going Home with Vick, Katie and Jamie on Monday (April 8) that she listens to the DJ’s ex-girlfriend when he’s not around. “As soon as my husband goes away, I listen to Taylor Swift,” she admitted. “That’s just when I get my little fill — just a little fill, just a couple of songs, get it out of my system and then it’s done.”

Harris and Hope first started dating in early 2022, and were engaged by the end of the year. They tied the knot in September 2023 in a tent on the grounds of Hulne Priory, Alnwick, Northumberland. “You know what, I was very overwhelmed by the interest in it, but I’m keeping my private life private,” Hope previously told Hello! Magazine about their relationship. “I’ve never really experienced this before about my private life, but it’s just for us.”

Swift and Harris, dated for nearly a year and a half back in 2015. In July 2016, it was revealed that Swift secretly co-wrote Harris’ hit “This Is What You Came For” under a pseudonym. Once the news broke, Harris launched a string of (since-deleted) angry tweets, claiming that Swift was trying to “tear” him down.

“It was completely the wrong instinct,” Harris told British GQ later that year, reflecting on the incident. “I was protecting what I see as my one talent in the world being belittled. It felt like things were piling on top of me and that was when I snapped.”

Yung Miami & JT Exchange Threats Over Sneak Disses: ‘You’re Really Losing It’

There looks to be trouble in paradise for the City Girls. JT and Yung Miami were entrenched in a heated social media exchange on Monday (April 8).

Miami publicly called out JT on X for sneak dissing her on solo songs such as “No Bars” and “Sideways” in a series of tweets aimed at her bandmate.

“For you to come on here and try to play [the] victim is crazy! Jatavia, you [have] been sneak-dissing me for the LAST COUPLE OF DAYS,” she wrote . “I haven’t said s–t back to you! You made two whole songs DISSING ME, and I STILL RAPPED your s–t with my chest, and showed love, so what’s the real problem here?

Yung Miami continued to blast JT: “A b—h trying to kick me while I’m down and play into these narratives! Is dangerous when I been nothing but a friend to you!!!!! I ain’t jealous of a soul I’m always like go b—h go!!! I clap for everybody I show love to EVERYBODY it ain’t a b—h I haven’t shown love to!!!!!!”

JT claimed that Miami was “losing it” and seeking attention with her initial response.

“Oh wow, you’re really losing it,” she wrote. “If you thought this, why not speak to me about it? You came on here and said, ‘LOL,’ so [people] can ask you why you wasn’t defending me… ATTENTION seeking as usual. You looking for a way out of your situation who was the first person called you when it all started? You’re a sad f—-g case!”

Miami went on to say that all she wants is the best for JT in all facets of her solo career whether that be with music, modeling and other endeavors.

“You weird but always wanna act like I’m a weirdo you always mad it’s always a problem & all I try to do is push you tell you, you the shit you can rap, you should model etc! You always mad you doing your shit as you should CONGRATULATIONS but somehow you STILL MAD AT,” Miami said.

Fortunately, JT and the Caresha Please host appear to have hopped on the phone to settle their issues, and it’s all love from both sides.

“Jatavia we just got off the phone I’m so confused now we back to the internet,” she wrote. “Jatavia I love you. I’m moving on!”

JT gushed: “I love you more I actually love you the most!”

The City Girls last released a project in October with RAW which featured stars like Usher, Muni Long, Lil Durk, Juicy J and more. Unfortunately, the album notched a lowly debut of No. 117 on the Billboard 200.

JT has since heavily pursued her solo career with the release of tracks such as the aforementioned “Sideways” and the more recent “Alter Ego” alongside Doechii. She kicked off her first-ever solo tour last month in Houston and has stops in Miami, NYC and more on tap.

GloRilla Talks JT Feud on 2024 CMT Music Awards Red Carpet: ‘Everything Is Everything’

GloRilla made an appearance at the 2024 CMT Music Awards on Sunday night, and the Memphis rapper caught up with Billboard News’ Tetris Kelly on the red carpet for an interview.

Big Glo was tight-lipped when asked about her heated back-and-forth with JT on Friday after name-dropping the City Girls rapper on her Ehhthang Ehhthang track “Aite.”

“Everything just always everything,” she said when Kelly asked about JT. “At the end of the day, that day gon’ motherf—in’ end. Everything is everything. That day gotta end.”

On the Kevo Muney-assisted tune, GloRilla calls for unity between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj and clarifies that there’s no beef with JT. “I just pray one day the bad bi—es would come together/ ‘Cause Cardi and Nicki on a track would break some f—ing records/ Me and JT ain’t the best of friends but we ain’t beefin’/ Know bi—es always havin’ that they keep a secret,” Glo raps.

There was previously speculation that a physical altercation occurred at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards with the City Girls star and Big Glo.

“I been said she didn’t!” JT tweeted on Friday. “She the one went radio silent! Played into, released a song about slapping rap bi—es now it’s female unity?? CORNY.” JT added: “I guess she was waiting on her tape to address & who gone clear up going viral for slapping someone when the whole hood believed it! It was on brand!”

Soon after, GloRilla got wind of JT’s tweets and responded: “Hoe shut yo dumb a– up & fix dem uglass wigs I said it ain’t no beef ho you da one with da secret animosity.”

She continued: “Don’t make me pop up at one of them Backyard BBQ shows you doing. You feeling a way about SLAPPING RAP BI—ES AND MAKING BAIL HO. Guess that last run in had you thinking you da only bi— I touched?”

Elsewhere in the interview, Glo also touched on collaborating with Megan Thee Stallion for “Wanna Be.” “I love Megan. She’s a wonderful person. She’s so fun. I taught her how to twerk,” she said tongue-in-cheek before doubling down. “It might seem crazy, but it’s true.”

Beyoncé Surpasses 100 Career Hot 100 Hits, Thanks to ‘Cowboy Carter’

Beyoncé has a massive week on Billboard’s charts, thanks to her latest LP, Cowboy Carter. Along with charting 23 songs from the album on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated April 13), she ups her career total from 85 entries to 106. As such, she becomes the 17th artist, and only the third woman, to have logged 100 or more titles since the chart began in 1958.

Cowboy Carter debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (and the Top Country Albums and Americana/Folk Albums charts) with 407,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the March 29-April 4 tracking week, according to Luminate – the biggest one-week total of 2024. She also becomes the first Black woman to lead Top Country Albums.

Notably, Beyoncé (106) surpasses the total Hot 100 hits of her husband, Jay-Z (105). They have harmoniously charted three songs together, led by her first entry, “‘03 Bonnie & Clyde” (billed as by Jay-Z featuring Beyoncé Knowles), which hit No. 4 in December 2002.

Of Beyoncé’s 106 career Hot 100 hits, 61 have reached the top 40; 24 have hit the top 10; and nine have gone to No. 1.

Thanks to their guest appearances on Cowboy Carter, eight artists earn their first Hot 100 entries: Tanner Adell, Willie Jones, Tiera Kennedy, Linda Martell, Reyna Roberts, Shaboozey, Brittney Spencer and Beyoncé’s daughter Rumi Carter. At six years old, Rumi is now the youngest-charting female artist in Hot 100 history. That’s why he was the perfect selection for a mega mentor on season 25 of NBC’s The Voice, helping the contestants prepare for the Knockout Rounds starting on April 8. “It’s such a family vibe on The Voice,” the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer tells Billboard, noting that he loved working with coaches Chance the Rapper and John Legend, as well as his fellow country stars Reba McEntire and Dan + Shay.

As a veteran of the singing competition space, he knows that mentorship is personal, opting against “blanket advice” for the contestants. “You have to meet each artist where they’re at. What’s consistent is knowing what advice to take or to discard,” he explains. “I’m sure the coaches would agree that nobody has all the answers. Particularly, if you’re doing something unique, chances are that nobody understands yet. A lot of artists get a lot of ‘You have to change this and change that.’ Sometimes, you don’t have to change anything at all. You have to keep working and make a better version of what already is.”

Navigating advice from all directions is a “challenge” Urban himself experienced throughout his career, adding that it’s important to be selective with your inner circle. “You can be really stubborn and immovable on certain things but that’s going to keep you stuck. Then, other times, you’d hear someone’s advice and think maybe that’s what you should do and you do it and then you find yourself to be lost and that the advice didn’t work for you,” he says. “For me, the most important thing was having people around me that I trust. Honestly, even family and friends will often have a little bias — positive or negative. You can have some friends that are super jealous or they might have a bias and they’ll give you advice that’s actually not very good. Having people around me that I really, really trust their opinions helped the most in my career.”

As for McEntire and Dan + Shay’s country takeover on The Voice, Urban isn’t surprised. “It’s reflective of the growing popularity of country music as a genre, not just nationally but all around the world,” he says proudly. “It’s extraordinary watching it take off like it’s doing.”

While he’s helping aspiring artists at the beginning of their careers, the four-time Grammy winner is continuing his own illustrious career, as he’s slated to soon release a new album, which will include the songs “Straight Line” and “Messed Up As Me.” 

“It’s always fun for me,” he says when asked how he stays passionate about making music after all these years. “I know it sounds crazy, but I get more excited now to write a song than I ever did. Even making the current record was a crazy mix of fear, excitement, discovery, curiosity, passion — just everything. I went through everything with this record, because I’ve never made this record. I’ve never seen this day. We’ve had plenty of fun but we’ve never had this one. And that’s just how I live my life. Every single day is a brand new blank canvas.”

He also stressed the importance of staying in touch with how he felt when he was first beginning his journey in music. “A quick example is when I went into the record company to play my new album the other day for about 50 people,” he recalls. “I wanted to print out the lyrics to every song and while it was a lot of work, I didn’t want to have somebody do it and I wanted to do it myself. So, I stapled all the lyrics together and put together this massive presentation. It felt like putting up my own posters at the beginning of my career. If you lose that feeling, you do start to become jaded and you get bored and your passion just disappears. For me, my passion stays so long as I keep doing the things I did at the beginning and it keeps it exciting.”

KRS-One & Kurtis Blow Celebrated With Presidential Honor from Biden at National Hip-Hop Museum

Woop-woop, that’s the sound of a lifetime achievement honor! Make that two.

Late last week, President Joe Biden honored hip-hop pioneers KRS-One and Kurtis Blow with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the National Hip-Hop Museum in Washington, D.C.

According to AllHipHop, 300 guests attended a ceremony at the RIAA headquarters, where the Rev. Dr. George Holmes delivered a rousing speech in celebration of the two icons. “There are two ways for a leader to go through life: as a thermometer or as a thermostat,” Holmes declared. “The thermometer merely measures the climate, but the thermostat sets the tone and creates it. That’s who you are, KRS-One and Kurtis Blow.”

In the absence of a physical appearance from President Biden, a letter from the White House addressed to the two hip-hop pillars was read.

“As it is with Kurtis Blow, as it is with you, America’s story depends not on any one of us, not on some of us, but on all of us,” read the note. “On behalf of the American people, President Biden extends his heartfelt appreciation to you for your volunteer leadership, and he encourages you to continue to answer the call to serve. The country is still counting on you.”

In addition the groundbreaking careers and contributions to American music and culture, KRS-One and Kurtis Blow were also honored for their commitment to community service and leadership.

The honors come less than a year after hip-hop celebrated its 50th anniversary, with 2023 boasting a bevy of specials celebrating hip-hop’s history, including A GRAMMY Salute To 50 Years Of Hip-Hop, to which KRS-One turned down a personal invite from LL Cool J.

“I was asked about two months ago; they asked me to do it and I turned them down,” he told Harold St. Louis. “And reason being is because I know people don’t understand this — and I say this respectfully. KRS-One is a Hip Hop extremist. I’m not violent, a violent extremist. I’m insane with this culture. I know I must have lost my mind in this.”

Kurtis Blow also did not attend the telecast, but he, like KRS-One, celebrated Hip-Hop 50 with other institutions.

KRS-One has earned three career entries on the Billboard Hot 100: 1994’s “Sound of da Police” (No. 89), 1995’s “MC’s Act Like They Don’t Know” (No. 57) and 1997’s “Step Into a World (Rapper’s Delight)” (No. 70). On the Billboard 200, he’s notched eight entries, including his sole top 10 title, 1997’s I Got Next (No. 3).

Kurtis Blow landed a pair of Hot 100 hits over the course of his career: 1980’s “The Breaks (Part I)” (No. 87) and 1985’s “Basketball” (No. 71). He has also sent six titles onto the Billboard 200, reaching as high as No. 71 with his eponymous 1980 LP.

The Black Keys Celebrate New Album ‘Ohio Players’ at Highland Park Bowl: See Photos From the Performance

Hours before their album Ohio Players dropped on Friday (April 5), Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney of The Black Keys held an intimate release party and concert for fans. But instead of a traditional stage, the pair set up shop in a Los Angeles bowling alley — a perfect callback to their new record’s sporty cover, on which a woman in vintage clothing takes aim at a row of pins.

Standing in front of the lanes at Highland Park Bowl, the duo was joined by a section of horn players as they performed songs from the 14-track LP — which features cameos from Beck, Juicy J and Lil Noid — as well as hits like “Gold on the Ceiling,” “Howlin’ for You” and “Lonely Boy.” Auerbach and Carney were separated by a rack of red bowling balls for the performance. 

The event came nearly three months after the rockers dropped “Beautiful People (Stay High),” the lead single from Ohio Players. The track peaked atop the Alternative Airplay chart in March, securing the band its seventh No. 1 on the ranking. 

The new album was also led by singles “I Forgot to Be Your Lover” and “This Is Nowhere,” as well as “On the Game,” which The Keys co-wrote with Oasis singer/songwriter Noel Gallagher. “We had this epiphany: ‘We can call our friends to help us make music,’” Carney said of the collaborations on Ohio Players in a statement.

“No matter who we work with, it never feels like we’re sacrificing who we are,” added Auerbach. “We’d never worked harder to make a record. It’s never taken us this long to make an album. We took our time and did it right.”

Meek Mill Calls Out Wale Over Photo: ‘Wale Never Liked Me’

What’s in the water lately?

Since Future and Metro Boomin dropped We Don’t Trust You a couple of weeks back, rap drama has spilled out from all corners. First, Kendrick Lamar ignited a civil war between the Big 3, which now is down to Drake and Lamar after J. Cole politely bowed out this weekend at Dreamville Fest. Then you have the ladies of rap going at it, with Glorilla beefing with JT from the City Girls late last week over Big Glo’s song “Aite.”

And then today, the OGs, Joe Budden and Skillz, went back and forth over Cole’s backtracking.

But the biggest story in “Today in Rap Beef” is undoubtedly Meek Mill being upset with Wale for taking a picture with someone he’s no longer friends with. In a now-deleted tweet, Meek posted a screenshot of Wale’s photo with Philly rapper Dean Stay Ready and wrote, “Wale never liked me.”

Wale responded, suggesting he didn’t realize taking a flick with Dean would end up being this serious.

Meek then accused Wale of having “always been jealous” of him and said the D.C. rapper “killed all his relationships.” He followed it up with a series of tweets mentioning a fight Wale had in D.C., how he doesn’t believe any sex stories about Diddy, how he’s his own publicist, and how he’s treating X like his journal, among other things.

We’re only four months into 2024 and this isn’t the first time Meek has had a public meltdown on social media. Back in February, after being named in a lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs by a producer who worked on his Grammy-nominated The Love Album: Off the Grid, Meek hopped on X and told DJ Akademiks to stop playing with his name, accused a competing music label of trying to smear him, promoted his Heathenism EP, and then asked his fans to send him the lawsuit so he could read it for himself. It was quite the day.

But as to why Meek would be so mad at his former labelmate for taking a photo with Dean Stay Ready, look no further than a DJ Akademiks interview. In the video interview, Dean talked about his past relationship with Meek Mill and accused the head Dreamchaser of blackballing him. The two reportedly had a falling-out due to Dean’s belief that Meek was preventing the advancement of his career.

Rumi Carter Is Now the Youngest Female Artist Ever on Hot 100, Claiming Record From Big Sis Blue Ivy

Beyoncé isn’t the only member of her family breaking Billboard chart records this week. Thanks to her guest appearance on her mom’s “Protector,” Rumi Carter is officially the youngest-charting female artist in Billboard Hot 100 history, at 6 years and 9 months old.

The song, from Beyoncé’s album Cowboy Carter, debuts at No. 42 on the streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Hot 100 (dated April 13) with 11.3 million official U.S. streams earned in its opening week (March 29-April 4), according to Luminate.

The LP launches at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, as well as the Top Country Albums and Americana/Folk Albums charts, with 407,000 equivalent album units earned, marking the biggest week of 2024. Making her own unprecedented mark, Beyoncé becomes the first Black woman ever to rule the Top Country Albums chart.

Rumi surpasses her older sister, Blue Ivy Carter, as the youngest-charting female artist to reach the Hot 100. Blue Ivy debuted at 7 years old in 2019, thanks to her featured appearance on Beyoncé, SAINt JHN and Wizkid’s No. 76-peaking “Brown Skin Girl,” from The Lion King-inspired album The Lion King: The Gift.

Still stoking any sibling rivalry, Blue Ivy remains the youngest artist ever to appear on any Billboard chart, thanks to her featured appearance (under the billing “B.I.C.”) on dad Jay-Z’s “Glory” in 2012. The song reached No. 63 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and No. 23 on Hot Rap Songs. The song includes Blue Ivy’s breaths and coos recorded just after she was born.

While Rumi is now the youngest-charting female artist in Hot 100 history, dating to its 1958 start, she’s not the youngest-charting artist overall. That records belongs to Jordy, who debuted just 5 years old in 1993 with “Dur Dur D’être Bébé!” (translation: “It’s Hard to Be a Baby”).

Rumi and Blue Ivy’s parents, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, are of course longstanding hitmakers on Billboard’s charts. Beyoncé has charted 106 total songs on the Hot 100 (the third-most among women), this week surpassing Jay-Z’s 105.

Meanwhile, Rumi and Blue Ivy Carter join a long history of siblings who have charted on the Hot 100, a club that includes Miley, Noah and Trace Cyrus (plus their dad, Billy Ray Cyrus); Barry and Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees (which included fellow brother Maurice); Janet, Jermaine, La Toya, Michael and Rebbie Jackson (along with the Jackson 5); Jaden and Willow Smith (and dad Will Smith); and Carnie and Wendy Wilson, via Wilson Phillips (daughters of Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys).

Chlöe Bailey Announces ‘Boy Bye’ Single: Here’s When It Arrives

Chlöe Bailey is getting the girls gassed up this summer with her new “Boy Bye” single, which she officially announced on Monday (April 8).

She also revealed the cover artwork for “Boy Bye,” which will arrive this Friday via Parkwood and Columbia Records, and it features the Grammy-nominated singer raising her arms in the air while riding in the back of a red convertible (with an appropriate “BOY BYE” license plate), evoking the carefree summer vibes everyone’s ready for.

“Boy Bye” is the second single Chlöe has released since her 2023 debut album In Pieces, which featured collaborations with Chris Brown (“How Does It Feel)”, Missy Elliott (“Told Ya”) and Future (“Cheatback”) and peaked at No. 17 on Top R&B Albums and No. 119 on the Billboard 200. She dropped her last single “FYS” on March 1, which marked her first musical release of 2024.

Chlöe previewed “Boy Bye” earlier this month on socials with a 23-second video of her singing along to the song and playfully whipping her hair around. “Boy bye, bye! I won’t even cry, you stupid motherf–ker! Boy bye, bye! I won’t even cry, go cry to your mama!” she bellows.
